ESRI Integration in Xcelsius

Hello,
It is to my understanding that Xcelsius 2008 can now integrate with ESRI GIS data.  As of right now I can not find any workflows or documentation as to how this integration works.  Is there anyone here that may be able to lead me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I did some checking on the Business Objects website and found this information for you:
Xcelsius itself does not integrate with ESRI. BusinessObjects XI can be integrated with ESRI; and BusinessObjects Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 can pull data from BusinessObjects XI using data connectivity options.

  • Error after Integrating of Xcelsius SWF into Enterprise Portal

    Hi all,
I integrated Xcelsius SWF file into portal using Business Objects Integration Kit - iView Template. I can see dashboard in Portal. Its working fine. I have Refresh Button in the Dashboard.  If I refresh the dashboard , it shows cannot access External Data. Failed to get the document information(LO26315).
How can I resolve? Help me in this regard.
I am using BOE 3.1 and LO 3.1.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hemalatha J

With a Live Office connection, you would typically use the URL iView and the opendocument URL to integrate the dashboard into the Enterprise Portal. There are existing posts on this forum about opendocument and Xcelsius dashboards.
Obviously you need to make sure the dashboard refreshes fine outside of the portal, for instance from Infoview.
Then, you need to look at the cross domain constraints : have both Infoview and Enterprise Portal in the same domain or use crossdomain.xml. They are lots of posts on this forum about that too.

  • GIS/ESRI Integration

    Hi
I'm very new to SAP (1month) and still trying to find my feet. We would like to integrate SAP RE and GIS. I've managed to find some documentation that mentions things like standard interfaces,Business Connector, BAPI, ESRI_R3.dll etc but nothing specific.
Can anyone help clarify the following.
    1. How would I go about integrating the 2 products, ie. what options do I have, what products are required?
    2. Is it plug and play giving you some standard functionality or is it API/DLL based where you have to develop your solution?
    3. Who provides the interface/integration? SAP, ESRI or both
    4. If the standard interface gives you standard functionality can additional functionality be developed, in what language and from which side (SAP/ESRI)?
    5. Can you make either product the master app? eg:with PP-GIS, GIS is the master. What do I do if I want SAP RE to be the master?
    6. What kind of developers do I need?
    7. Are there different integration methods/requirements for each product eg: ArcGIS, ArcIMS?
    8. Where can I get some decent technical information that can answer some/most of the above?
Thanks for everyone's time and help
    Jonathan

    hello,
    i have a seamed problem,
idea is simply to display an ESRI GIS map within a dynpro while providing data integrity.
my first aim is to achieve a simple connectivity such as selecting some lines from an ALV grid control cause points on map to be selected. (and vice-versa if possible).
any idea or advice on how to achieve this, greatly appreciated.
    many thanks.

  • Authentication issue with Xcelsius/Portal integration

I am facing an issue with the way we have integrated our Xcelsius dashboard with our corporate portal. I know this probably is more of a SDK question than Administration, but I figured I will ask it here anyway since Tim and some others are diverse enough in their knowledge base. This might be LONG post but please advise if anyone has any good pointers.
We have an Xcelsius dashboard that needs to be served up via our corporate intranet (based on MS Sharepoint 2007). Now we are NOT using the MS Sharepoint Portal Integration Kit, but just doing a basic integration of the SWF call within a web part on Sharepoint. All this means is that within a portlet (web-part) on Sharepoint, I am making a HTTP call to the openDocument URL to invoke the SWF file. So the SWF is actually served up from our Tomcat App Server, and displayed onto this frame within the portal. That is the basic idea.
To achieve this, what I did was write some custom code using the Java SDK to modify the openDocument a little bit. By doing so, I was able to insert some behind-the-scenes-login code wherein no matter who the portal user (Win AD-based) is, he is logged in to BOE as a generic "dashboard-user" and the dashboard is served up. This worked fine for the first dashboard where all we had was SWF and some WebI linking using openDocument (no full-InfoView access).
But in this second dashboard now, what we also have is a hyperlink for users to get to InfoView to do Ad-hoc reporting. What this does is open a child browser window from within the portal (dashboard) --- and it remembers the BOE session for the generic user id "dashboard-user" and logs the end-user in to InfoView using that. But what I actually want is that the end-users, on this new window, should only be prompted at the traditional InfoView logon screen where they can manually enter their Windows AD password and get in. Thus, I would like to keep the dashboard SWF page session separate from the InfoView ad-hoc session, which I cannot seem to do because of the browser relationship and session maintenance.
I am trying to find a way where I can simulate a single sign-on for dashboard viewers on the portal, but at the same time let them jump off to InfoView as themselves.
Any thoughts on how I can do this?
    Notes:
We DO NOT have Single Sign-On enabled for InfoView
We are using Windows AD authentication (manual, no SSO)
    We are on Tomcat

    Sarang Deshpande wrote:
    1) If the InfoView app on Tomcat (desktoplaunch) is configured with Vintela, openDocument calls from the portal with automatically work using behind the scenes SSO, correct?
in XIR2 everything that falls under infoview should SSO when infoview is setup for SSO (not the case in XI 3.x)
    Sarang Deshpande wrote:
    2) What is the best practice when it comes to the service accounts needed? I have implemented Windows AD manual auth already so I have a service account that use for that. Should I be using the same on and making vintela/SSO-specific changes to it...or should I have a separate vintela service account and deal with two different ones..each for a diff purpose?
There is no best practice per se but the less service account the lower your chances to duplicate an SPN, functionally everything seems to work just as well with multiple as it does with 1 (of course with 1 there is less management work) If you click the SSO link in my forum sticky post I have a section explaining this with some suggested methods of deploying a service account(s)
    Sarang Deshpande wrote:
    3) Other than some minor browser configurations that might be required, is there anything else that I should communicate to the team about what might be required to be "pushed" to users' PCs?
Using the default config nothing should be required on the client machine (unless SSO has been disabled in the browser or you intend to use a url that contains a period ..... (i.e. FQDN or IP) with hostname URL (the default) it should just work.
To note if you have XP SP2 or older there is a microsoft spnego bug you may need to apply a fix if you aren't patched to SP3 (about 5% of our customers run into this).

  • XCelsius Engage Server 2008 integration with Crystal Reports Server 2008

    Hi there....
I am kinda new to XCelsius and am confused with the integration points XCelsius Engage Server offers for 'Crystal Server 2008' users.
The trial install package for XCelsius Engage Server (SP1) has a binary installation for XCelsius and then for Adobe LifeCycle DataServices. The installation document in the distribution does not talk about what the 'engage server' part is? and how it can get integrated to an existing CS 2008 installation ?
any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated. Also is there a document/white paper explaining how this whole family of CS and XCelsius products fits together ?

    user12111287,
To answer your question.....No, I do not. But we have run Crystal Reports using P6 data.
As far as I know Crystal Reports only needs a database of some kind in order to do its thing. Are you attempting to set up a "real time" data link (ODBC) to Crystal via SDK?
If not, you could just build your own P6 exports or develop your own reports that would provide the data for feeding Crystal Reports. Maybe set up an automated Job Service task to run a batch of reports on a daily basis.
    Hope this helps.

  • Xcelsius Portal Integration kit for Sharepoint not showing in the gallary

    Hi Experts,
I am testing the Xcelsius in my organization. After creating a dashboard , I am trying to integrate it in my Sharepoint portal.
For that I installed SP webpart container in the server. During installation it was not showing any wizard to me for selecting the options. After installation , i am trying to configure it in the webpart galary but ! couln't find the Xcelsius Webpart container in that list.
What to do to show it ? Could anyone guide me ?
    Regards,
    Jyothi

i'm not sure how it works with Sharepoint... however, i can tell you how we use the portal integration kit within WebSphere Portal.
first, the PIK itself is only used for BO integration, not Xcelsius integration (unless you are doing SSO in which case the BO login module is required).
the Xcelsius integration comes from creating the web parts on the client. For example, for WebSphere there is a tool that is loaded onto the client machine called "XcelsiusPortletCreationUtility". the purpose of this utility is to take a swf file and wrap it in a war file that can be deployed to the portal. i would assume that  Sharepoint works in a similar way with a client utility.
also, within the Xcelsius file you must create a portal data connection, even if it's not actually used.
please look through your Xcelsius documentation or try to find the specific document that explains Sharepoint integration.

  • BPC Xcelsius integration

    Hi All,
I want to know whether BPC 7.0 version supports integration with Xcelsius if it is then how it is doner else  7.5 version only supports full integration.
    Thanks,
    Raghu.

    Hi,
For 7.0 we have an integration with XCelsius but of course we have also some limitation.
You can use the follow HTG from follow link http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/EnterprisePerformanceManagement%28EPM%29How-to+Guides.
This can help you to use XCelsius with SAP BPC 7.0.
Taking in consideration that 7.5 is able to use CMS authentication from BO we can say in 7.5 we have fully integration of SAP BPC 7.5 with Xcelsius and not only with Xcelisus. We ca say we have a fully integration with almost all BO interface like Voyager, Webi.
We prepared an RKT material which will be distributed very soon providing details about integration with BO interface.
I hope this will help you.

  • SAP BI 4.0 to ESRI-GIS

    Dear All,
I've read there is a native integration to ESRI-GIS systems in SAP Business Objects BI 4.0.
Can anybody tell me if I'm wrong?
I've found only third party tools performing SAP Business Objects Integration for ESRI GIS, like APOS software.
Can ESRI integration be performed with any tool in the actual SAP BO Suite 4.0?
Can I actually connect with any SAP BO tool to ESRI system?
    Thank you.
    Best Regards,

  • Establish connection with database to send/receive data through Xcelsius

    Hi
Iu2019m working on a Xcelsius project that requires to establish 2 way communication with the SQL server.
2 way communication requirement: When user selects an option (country) from the accordion component, it needs to send that to database as a query and retrieves that particular country data onto Xcelsius and refresh the chart data accordingly.
Iu2019m thinking of using ASPX to communicate between Xcelsius and the SQL server, but not sure how to proceed.
Appreciate if anyone can provide instructions or pointers to where I can get started with it
    Thanks,
    Malik

    Malik,
I had worked on a similar requirement, where Sql server should be integrated with Xcelsius and should retrieve real time data.
    Here is what we did...
-->Configured web service on SQL server side (you will find plenty of doc related to this on google)
-->Configured Web Service connection in Xcelsius (by passing the WSDL url generated from the SQL server)
-->Developed dashboard in Xcelsius which retrieves data from SQL server realtime i.e. when user passes Variable value through a component (Combo box or anything), then this value in inturn passed to webservice, and then this web service will retrieve the data to Xcelsius.
    Hope this helps...

  • Work Manager 6.1 and SMP 3.0 with Agentry new features

    Hi,
I know that Work Manager 6.1 is expected to be released by the end of June but I can't find any information about the product.
Since I'm starting a new project initially thought for Work Manager 6.0 but running in SMP 3.0, I would like to know the list of new features of 6.1 version.
At the same time I would like to know if the use of SMP 3.0 brings to the Agentry applications improvements regarding error handling, logging and administration in general since that was a bit poor in the previous versions.
The only thing I found regarding 6.1 version is this PDF where new functionalities regarding localization of assets in a map are added. I hope there is more than that.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Anybody familiari with Tibco Spotfire DXP

    Hi all,
Next week we get a demo on a tool called Spotfire DXP from Tibco company. I donwloaded a trial version and it looks quit good but I have my doubts on implementing this tool for a SAP (BI) environment. As we will probably have Business Objects available for BI on short terms and next to this we have Adobe Flex for custom components that can be integrated in XCelsius, I wonder what kind of added value a tool like Spotfire could/would have in our situation. Does anybody have any experience with this tool?
    kind regards
    Angelique Heutinck

I also found these documents but the contents doesn't help really me answering my question. Why should we buy Spotfire if we will have an expensive tool like Business Objects in place anyway? What can do Spotfire more than Business Objects can do? Charts and analysis features can also be created by Adobe Flex or by purchasing Flex component libraries. It will be more work in the beginning, but once the component is ready, it is reusable.
There are many similar tools like Spotfire available on the market for data visualization (Tableau, Corda Technologies, Visual Mining, Advizor Solutions, just to name a few I found on the internet) but I cannot find good reasons from an IT point of view to buy an external software package other than that the frontend looks cool and with a simple flat excel sheet you can make beautiful pictures in just a few minutes (keeping in mind that data visualiztion in all products tours look "hot and sexy"). However, we talk about SAP BI and R3 data, data coming from other sources like Sybase, Notes. It will be quit a challenge to build the custom solutions we want for our company, no matter what choice we will make. How do these packages fit in the esoa concept, can this software work with e.g. webservices, can we integrate a Tibco dashboard in CRM2007 or Portal? What about version and transportation management?
