ESS 50.4 supported in nw2004s EP w. 4.7 backend?

On the download page for the ESS business package 50.4, it indicates the portal requirements as follows: 5.0 (SP5 and higher), EP 6.0 (SP0 and higher).
We're running EP 7.0 SP 10 - is this a supported platform?
Are there detailed instructions on configuring the system objects for the BP? The documentation link provided on the business package page:

is a dead end, and is therefore of no use. The PDF that I downloaded a long time ago that describes the content of the business package (Business Package for Employee Self-Service 50.4) doesn't contain any configuration instructions beyond listing the required system aliases.
I also found this blog:

which had a bit more info, but I was hoping to find some detailed configuration instructions.

Yes you can run ESS 50.4 on EP 7.0.

The title and the description of support groups are stored in KW with DOCIDs SGR_DESCRIPTION and SGR_TITLE. You can execute class CL_HRRCF_HRKWF_STORAGE > READ_INFTY_TEXT and put the HRP5151 information for the support group for testing. In the NG classes, this is from CL_HRRCF_SUPPORT_GROUP_PL > READ_SUPPORT_GROUP. Even myself initially I thought I would find the Title text in HRP1000 but it does not get saved there. The is the same case with Talent Groups as well.

Hi,
I just updated SAP business one with latest 8.81 patch 10 and related integration component. However, when I try to add a sales order using new 1.5 version of the mobile app, it give the following error:
"Note that this function is not supported by the current version of the backend server".
Any idea what this means? Do I need to update the integration component with a different version?

Error when building ESS components within NWDI for NW2004s

Hi I am trying to import thr ESS version 100 source code into the JDI.
I get the following errors

In case you have not solved this. This seems a problem with your DB. Try to redeploy your dbschema. I had a similar problem and this solved it for me.

New forums jive multi-language support in NW2004s SPS12 missing

Hi,
according to the forums documentation it is possible to edit locale parameters in the adminstration console to change the language for forum users. But changing the language has no effect. Only english language is shown.
I checked the SPS12 deployment file FORUMS12_0-20002293.SCA.It seems that the jive_forums_i18n_xy.properties files are missing.
Does anyone has the same problem on NW2004 or NW2004s?

I found the problen, in SAP NW 2004s the jive_forums_i18n_xy.properties files are missing in the deployment file. Hope next SPS13 will have all the files.
As temporary solution files of SAP NW 2004 deployment could be used. In this deployment all files are included. Put them in the jive path on portal server and the languages are shown.

Problem in downloading ESS package

Dear All,
I m trying to download ESS package from market place,
Description: BP ERP05 ESS 1.0 Support Package 13
File name: BPERP5ESS13_0-10003288.SCA
But I m getting following message:
"All corrective software packages, for SAP NetWeaver 2004s and SAP Business Suite 2005 and beyond that are delivered after April 2nd, 2007 will ONLY be available via SAP Solution Manager's Maintenance Optimizer."
and Download Status is "Request approval"
Please guide me how to go about it as I dont have any clue, and besides this also let me know what else do I need to download for implementing ESS buss. pakg. in NW7.0, EP6.0
Its really urgent guys....plz throw in your help.

In addition to the Business Packages, you will need the actual packages which contain the WD applications for ESS/MSS, I think they are referred as XSS packages and along with that you will need other two packages PCUI and Common parts package.
Just do a search on marketplace and you will get links for them.

Multi Language Support in EP

Hi All,
I have deployed and configured EP 7.0 with ESS and MSS.
We have two sets of users, Arabic and English.
For Arabic users we have set their default language as Arabic. When they logon to portal all the ESS iviews are displayed in English. But the MSS iviews are displayed in Arabic.
For this we have changed the following ESS JCos language to Arabic.
SAP_R3_HumanResources
SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics
SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData
With this change we are getting all ESS and MSS iviews in Arabic.
But for the other users whose language was set to English, they are also getting ESS and MSS iviews in Arabic instead of English.
Was EP supports two different languages simultaneously?
Or is there any workarounds to solve this problem, please guide us.
We are running short on go-live.

Backend language was set to Arabic,
JCOs were set in Arabic
User Lang was set to English
Result: ESS Iviews are still displaying in Arabic.

User Lang was set to English.
Result: ESS Iviews are still displaying in Arabic.

ESS Time Statement

Hello to all,
I'm trying to switch the default Time Statement Form in the Portal 7.0(SAP_TIM_99_0001, designed in HRFORMS) for a form designed in PE51.
I modified the HRFOR feature but when I change nodes ESD or ESP for the my PE51 form, the portal returns a "form not found" error. Strange is that the TMW node works fine, I can either enter the HRFORMS form or the PE51 form and see the different results in SAPGUI.
Anyone has a clue on how to set this up?

Blank Page Showing for ESS iView in Portal

Dear All,
I have here ECC 6 and EP 7, i have uploaded Business Package for ESS named BP ERP05 ESS 1.0 Support Package 07.
I have configured the Post Installation Steps and SLD.
I have Created System and system aliases in System Landscape in portal and also granted permission to the respective user.
I have also created user in ECC 6 and mapped the same with a Pernr.
I have also maintained the JCO connection namely
WD_RSDAS_MODELDATA_DEST (Already present)
WD_RSDAS_RFC_METADATA_DEST(Already present)
WD_MODELDATA_DEST(New JCO Connection Created)
WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST(New JCO Connection Created)
But when i view the ESS iView from the User then blank page is coming.
Every iView of ESS is showing blank page and also not error is being shown.
Kindly guide me if any setting is still pending from my end
for these iView to show results.

Hi Sidartha,
Deploy the SAP_ESS SCA file (SAPESS01_0-20000512.sca) file to get the ESS applications.
And also Deploy the SAPPCUI_GP SCA file (SAPPCUIGP01_0-20001215.sca) to get the xss framework on which ESS applications run.
SCA file for BP just has the iviews in which the ESS applicaitons run.
SO you have to deploy the above said .SCA files to get the applicaitons.

Question on NWDI and DC for web dynpro for ESS components

I am working on installing NWDI and mostly we will be working with ESS & MSS webdynpro customization for NW2004s.
I have a doubt, now for customizing the web dynpro components of ESS is it just enough to create the SC and track and once doing this will the developers get to the DC's of ESS?
Or initially do I have to download the editable part of the web dynpro components and deploy it in the server?
I am not sure how the web dynpro components are made available for the developers. Please help me understand.

Query on importing ESS codes into NWDI

I am having problems with importing ESS "600 Level 9 Update ERP05PAR.06281307" codes into NWDI.
I can successfully import the dependent SCA of ESS into NWDI's Development tab: EP_BUILDT, SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, SAP_JTECHS, and SAPPCUI_GP.
They are now gone from the Development tab and appears in Consolidation tab.
I am left with the ESS SCA remaining the Development tab.
When I try to import I got all sorts of errors from the CBS build, the last one is:
Info:buildspace = DDI_ESS09P24_D   build request id = 1163
Info:CBS server log is written to CBS log
Fatal:processing of build request is not finished successfully, final status is:FAILED (more details in CBS log )
In the CBS log, this is the excerpt on the error that happened:
BUILD DCs
     "sap.com/ess/ch/addr" in variant "default"
ERROR: The build-process has terminated without a valid build result. The reasons could be (a) The build time may have exceeded the build timeout value or (b) There could be problems with the build-settings or (c) the process was externally terminated. Please contact the CBS administrator.
          The build failed due to a severe SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Change request state from PROCESSING to FAILED

Also I notice that my SCA for ESS is ESS 600 Level 9 Update while in the SLD>Software Catalog, the entry for ESS 600's Support Packages tab only list up to "Support Package 8 of SAP_ESS, 600". There is no SP 9.
Could this be the cause of all my woes?

Hi,
if a CBS build fails with a "severe SYSTEM PROBLEM" then there's something really wrong. Import of used SCAs is not a problem since there's nothing to build, but this error message means that CBS is trying to build something and fails. System problem could indicate memory problems or maybe just an incorrectly configured JDK.
If nothing is obviously wrong check the log viewer if there are perhaps some more details logged or try to disable cleanUpRequestFolders in the CBS service properties and check in the filesystem under the CBS rootFolder if there are log files that give additional information.
CBS does not really care about SP levels, the difference between SP8 and SP9 is completely is irrelevant for building. (Unless you import "mixed" SCAs and get compile errors).

Downloading BP for ESS and PCUI

Has the file name changed on the Market place to download the packages .sca for ESS/MSS and PCUI.
Previously the file for ESS were ESS and its patch was BPERP.. like...
But now the file name has the only difference of P in it and the size is almost the same???
Can somebody tell me the exact order to deploy the ESS??
