Currently we are about to upgrade EP 6.0 to EP 7.0..
About ESS Pkg in EP 6.0 how these Pkgs can be upgraded from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0.
How this Pkgs can uploaded from EP 6.0 to 7.0..?
Is there any need of supporting files or any patch-ups for this?

All corrective software packages, for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and SAP Business Suite 2005 and beyond that are delivered after April 2nd, 2007 will ONLY be available via SAP Solution Manager's Maintenance Optimizer. Find more details here.
Well it does this BP supports NETWEVER 7.0 and above only?

Calling a pkg from managed code and then using reflection to call a method from a script task

Hi we run 2012 std. I have some pretty good evidence that when I call my pkg from a .net service, a script component in that pkg fails when trying 2 use reflection to load and invoke our .net message history method. The exception is either on
the invoke or in the message history method. I suspect its in the method but will take additional steps 2 verify.
But when I run the pkg stand alone, it has no problem and the method does what it is supposed 2 do.
There r no vars passed from the service to the pkg. I wonder if its a managed to unmanaged to managed issue that the community is already aware of. If not, my apologies 4 posting this quickly.
I'll post more info here as I collect it.

we have 2 theories after showing the exception trace to folks who r more adept at managed code.
the first is related to the fact that our 3rd party dlls (I think entity framework is included in these) r older versions. I don't want to discount this theory but we have some evidence already that this might not be true.
I hope I can do justice to the 2nd theory but will make it clearer and clearer as I get a better understanding. I believe this is what Arthur was saying and I applaud his instincts. They explained that .net is so "smart" that it detected
a change in namespace (ie context as Arthur said) and purposely threw an exception 2 save us from ourselves. The workarounds discussed were a bit over my head but I will continue trying to better understand it. The fact that many of the methods
we call after reflection r now merged into one assembly seemed relevant to the discussion and possible workarounds.
this link came up in their discussion and I believe the bottom line here is that by qualifying assembly names further (in config?)r, a workaround is possible.

Need Urgent help in downloading the pkg from Sunfreeware

Hi all,
I am trying to down load few pkgs from Sunfreeware.
On the site I see 2 sets of pkgs for the same pkg.
one which ends with local.gz & the other one with .gz ( which is a source code)
Which one do I download & how do I add it using the pkgadd command.
I know the cmd but don't know which one to download & how to proceed.
PLEASE HELP ME , I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THIS BUT NO RESULTS.

Also, I'd recommend you try compiling some of these packages yourself (especially if you haven't done any earlier) --- it really goes a long way to help build some tools/software that aren't in the System V pkg format. : )

How do we move PKG from One d/b to another d/b?

In general, i will creating all the packages in Dev environment and will send the pkg files to DBA team to deploy in QA environmnet.
I would like to know, in general how do we move pkg's from one instance to another instance.

Differnec in front end and back end of ESS record time from ABAP point

HI Expert,
Here I need information regarding employee working time.
Quary is we are trying to restricts the records entered in time sheet through user exit CATS0006.
Here in CATS0006 one table is there CHECK_TABLE.
when I am executing time sheet from back end(t code CAT2) the table Check_table is having forward and backword 6 weeks data from the key date and date_from and date_to fields have correct value for week start and end.So that I am able to validate records.
But when I am executing from ESS>Working time>Record working time and set an external debugger on CATS0006 I got that at this time CHECK_TABLE has only edited entry and date_from and date_to field value are also not correct one.
Please suggest what may the cause of problem ,is it the case with your system as well?
Is it a problem with SAP standard code?

Hi,
What password are you talking about, the one created with the workgroup manager? That will be difficult since 2010 doesn't have the workgroup manager anymore. You can still use the database in the 2010 environment but you can't make any changes to the original
database without the password.

ESS/MSS applications from ECC 6.0 on a SL as ECC 5.0 + EP7.0

Hi all,
We have a "strange" situation on the client and I need you help or guidance.
We are implementing Portal and ESS/MSS on a system landscape as ECC 5.0 for the back-end system and EP 7.0 as front-end.
My problem is if the ESS/MSS iViews which have the data source as ECC 6.0 or higher are available and if yes how their behavior will be on such environment? We should expect errors or bugs or lousing functionalities or restrictions on it?
Perhaps the first point will be if we can implement them? The client wants specific applications like time accounts or appraisals. I should mention to you the client has decided to make an upgrade of the back-end system to ECC 6.0 but is not decided yet when. In the meantime we already start the project for ESS/MSS base on the current system landscape.
What do you think?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

I got my answer. You may implement XSS applications as for ECC 5 even on EP 7 but you'll face limitations in functionalities and face lots of tech issues and abnormal behavior from xss applications. Not the ideal system landscape.

ESS/MSS Upgrade from 4.6 to ECC 6.0 Question..

Hi Gurus,
During the upgrade SAP R/3 would be upgraded from 4.6C to ECC 6.0. The HR module on this R/3 has - Org Management, Benefits, Time Administration and Payroll. They use ESS based on ITS. My question is when they go from 4.6c to ECC 6.0 - would they have to let go the ITS based ESS transactions and go with Web Dynpro based ESS? If yes then what happens to all the customizations they have done to ITS based ESS transactions. Would they have to be redone on the Web Dynpro based ESS?

yes You need to do different customisations for the Web dynpro since ECC 6 is better with WD, ITS functionality wont work here. Please check the training material for the MSS which is very exhaustive.
But if you continue to use ITS then your old customisation should work but then again there will be changes..better to move wholly to WD

Problem building some pkgs from AUR

I think this must have a known solution, but I didn't found it :-/ so I'm asking.

In both cases, I got this Error message (while running ./configure):

I suppose it's a problem with gcc 4.3, but where? How the pkgbuilds/sources should be modified? Any hints?

I tried to compile cuetools from the AUR PKGBUILD and it works on my machine without any errors.
For comparison you get in the config.log file :

But I could not find the origin of your error.
I have gcc version 4.3.0 running well on my i686 machine.

ESS Timesheet Approval from ESS

Hi,
We have implemented ESS .We have created workflow for timesheet approval.
Whenever employee creates a timesheet request.The workitem sent to Manager to approve the timesheet records.But when Manager opens the workitem regarding timesheet approval through ESS ,he see all timesheet records of all employees who are reporting to him.
But when we open the same workitem through SBWP it shows onli leave records of the employee related with the workitem not all the reportees.We want same functionality through ESS UWL.
I have checked the configuration related with approval views.
"Define Profiles and Assign to Views" It seems fine.
Kindly suggest for the same.

Installing a pkg from unsupported

I'm having a little trouble installing a package from the AUR (I'm doing this for the first time, but I'm strictly adhering to the instructions in this document).
Firstly, makepkg fails if I try it as a normal user, even though the howto suggests that it should work since I have fakeroot installed and enabled. I get a number of "Permission Denied" errors and stuff.
Doing it as root seems to work, except I can't find the hallowed tar.gz file anywhere. The last thing makepkg tells me is that I'm missing runtime dependencies. Am I actually expected to install those before I build the packages?

you can install packages from cd or usb stick the same way you install them from the spool directory the only difference is to add the -d option which is the device name.
Follow these steps:
1. Untar(extract) the downloaded tar file(package)
tar xvf <packagename>+
2. pkgadd -d <path to the extracted package>*

Installing PKGS from CD

I am finding when using the install program in CDE that instead of installing any PKGS that it says " Not Installed" instead of installing them. & then I have to close program , is there a reason it wont install any PKGS after selecting them from catorgories? Just wondering If I have to enable something or rather etc?

I am having the same problem. After installing Solaris 10 and the Software Companion CD while installing the entire Sun Operating System and rebooting my machine after it tells me the packages from the software companion cd were installed correctly. After the reboot, I login as as root and open the console. I type the various commands like pine, or pico, emacs, etc and then it states
emacs: not found
I did a search in the various directories where the packages should have been installed and they are there.
Is there something else that I need to do in order to access these applications? I have searched through documentation on the Sun Website and have done google searches to see whether there was any documentation stating whether anything extra in addition to installing the software companion cd was required to access the packages, but on every search through the documentation and through other websites describing the Solaris 10 install including the software companion install, they explain it like the software companion install process should be rather easy, like as easy as just install it and your done.
I have the Solaris 10 X86 version running on an Intel Pentium 4 1700 MHZ machine. I also installed the correct version of the software companion cd, the Intel X86 Solaris 10 Software Companion CD.
I dont mean to be rude or so critical either but there is nothing stated about how to deal with this in the documentation. Its also logical that if the Solaris 10 OS install process includes the software companion cd, that it should have automatically configured the environment variables for each package installed otherwise there is no point in having the system installer install the software companion packages if the user has to manually configure each environment variable for each package installed.
