ESS CATS timesheet - template lines repeat when saving

Hi experts,
We have implemented CATS on SAP Portal and when you have a time entry template, and you save your time entries, the saved time is "pushed" down the timesheet by blank template lines. This happens only on the web Dynpro version (ECC does not happen) of the timesheet. If there is no template defined, everything works fine.
Is this a know bug? I am on the verge of raising a message with SAP, but was hoping someone here would have the solution.

also ensure that attributes like absence attendance type which are displayed should be set as input in CAC2
ie
Please ensure that all fields in CATS screen are set as input
If you record an extra attribute than
the one already saved with the Template, You are bound to get an
Line Split. Please check if your user exit is defaulting any
extra attribute or you are adding it during the recording
of time or being defaulted using 0315 infotype
Line split occurs when the Employee records time to
a different attribute ie already available in the Template
for him
An example
You need to ensure that the attributes are not changed
ie new values defaulted using the exit, which are doing
Example
Your template has values : A B
Your exit defaults : A B C >>> C added extra, line split!
So ensure A B C are already saved as template. Makes sure your
end users or the exit is not adding extra attribute to the recording
time
This is what i am trying to explain if this is possible.

How do you turn off the "Update Template Files" dialog when saving a template in Dreamweaver?

As the title states I'd like to not have to see the "Update Template Files" dialog when saving a template. I'm not sure what its purpose is other than to annoy as it does not seem to do anything -- selecting update, don't update, any combination of files and or hitting escape appears not to make any difference wrt wheter it updates the pages or not (it does every time).
Any help will be appreciated.

The "more like this" window gave me the answers. No current ability to turn off. I've submitted a request to add this feature.

ESS Cats Timesheet Performance Considerations

Hi Experts,
We are using ESS Standard Portal Cats timesheet.
But the client is not happy with way the Timesheet performs
Like for example to fill up time in one of the cell - when the user places the cursor it takes 3-4 secs for the entire row to get selected ( orange in color ) . Once selected the user can fill that cell.
Our users timesheet runs from 20-30 lines so u can imagine how painful its for a user to complete booking his time.
The row selections is one of the major pain points in our timesheet.
Can we do any thing about the slow performance of our timesheet?. I mean something from the design perpective of Java Webdynpro.
We are also open to develop something in custom. But we would still end up developing a java wd application. Would it be worth the effort considering the standard timesheet is also in java wd/
All your thoughts/experiences would be appreciated.

ESS CATS Timesheet

Hi,
I want to display the planned hours in the working hours row in CATS timesheet in portal implemented as CATS Regular.
Is there any configuration change needed for that in the CATS profile or I need to use an user-exit. If a user-exit is needed, please let me know which one.

Thanks for the tip. The exporting parameter ta_timesheetdata has the timesheet data and when I enhanced the FM HRXSS_CAT_WD_RECORD, I was able to get the working hours to display in the planned hours. But the problem is, I got the working hours data from WS in IT0007 which is not giving the correct output.
I want some way in which I can link the PERNR to Personnel subgrouping and Daily Work Schedule. I could find them in T550A but i couldn't figure out a way to link them to PERNR.
And one more thing is I want some FM where if I give the holiday/factory calender ID, then it should return me the dates which are holidays in a given date range. The reason being those days should display 0 as working hours.
So Any ideas???

Losing axis settings on line chart when saving as excel

Hi,
When I go to save a file as excel, I seem to lose all my axis settings on the line charts. I have auto scale turned on and it's scaled properly, then when it goes into excel it defaults out to 0-120% on the Y axis. Any way to avoid?

Cause
This behaviour is by design
There are 2 types of scales in a chart, auto scale and manual scale. By default in all chart the Y axis is an auto scale, And in case of auto scale in business objects the max and min values are calculated by the report engine based on the size of chart, the number of values of variables on that axis etc.
When saving the same report in excel, in case of auto scale we can not store the max and min values of Graph from reporter, and Excel will decide it max and min values by its own based on several factors like resolution of the graph, the number of vairable present, the layout etcu2026 We could not decide the max and min values of a graph in excel in case of auto scale.
Resolution
   1. Edit WebIntelligence report
   2. Select the chart
   3. Go to Properties tab
   4. Expand Y axis parameter
   5. Select "scale"
6. Manually insert the max value

ESS CATS Timesheet without Project Systems

Hi experts,
My customer have ECC EhP7. So far the customer uses a .NET based custom web based application to book time against projects.
Possibly the project information are stored somewhere in the background database the custom application is connecting to.
Now they want to move to SAP ESS CATS for time recording.
Also, they have not implemented the projects information in PS module and have no plan for the same.
In this situation, if I have to get those project information in CATS, what are my options?
Is it mandatory in CATS to maintain the project details in PS module ?

Internal Software Error: .\AVTreeNode.cpp, line 25 when saving a project

Hello,
I am trying to work with Encore DVD 2.0 on Windows XP professional (SP 2). Until now with every project I try to make I see new error messages, and my whole work consists of trying to find work arounds.
My actual project consists of five slide shows. They are all between 1 and 2,5 minutes. Except for one, that only consists of a black screen shown for 5 seconds.
I have a playlist that contains all slide shows. Between two of the longer slide shows I inserted the 5 second black screen. What I wanted to achieve with this technique is that I can easily change the "gap" between two slide shows by changing the duration of the black screen slide show once. Alternatively I could have added a black image as the last slide two each of the four slide shows, but then I would have to change the duration of that slide four times when I want to change the gap between the slide shows.
Anyway, I finally tried to create the project which resulted in the CVOBUPlanner.cpp error in line 331.
So I wanted to track down the problem by
- deleting some of the slide shows
- saving the project under another name
- trying to create that project
So first I deleted everything but the first slide show from the playlist. then I deleted all the slide shows but not the first one (and the 5 second black screen though I didn't use it here), from the project. Saved the project under another name and created it without an error.
Then I opened the original project again. Now I deleted everything but the first slide show and the 5 second black screen slide show. Again I deleted the slide shows, but not he first and the 5 second black screen.
I tried to save the project under another name, but now I received an internal software error: .\AVTreeNode.cpp, line 25.
After I restarted the application I was able to open the original movie, delete the slide shows and save the project under another name.
I still wanted to let you now because this is an error message that I have not seen before and didn't find here in this forum.

every time i hit the save button after exporting a pdf file and converting to word on line there is an error and windows explorer stops responding.

As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.

My e-mail subject line is repeated when I try to open an e-mail, so I have to open this line too, before I can read my e-mail. It takes up alot of space & means I have to do another unnecessary thing for EVERY e -mail ! Then I have to CLOSE it twice to get out! What is happening?

I am having the exact same problem with my Macbook Pro, all of a sudden the password started rejecting and I cannot use that gmail account. This appears to be a bug. The quick fix was to set up another gmail account and forward the mail from the old gmail account to the new gmail account that works with the IMAP service. This way the mail from the gmail account with the rejected password will still come through and appear in MAIL.

Updating of paths in templates when saving file

I am using CS3 and I have a person using ver 8.
In a template I have some paths for include files. These are
not in editable regions. My templates are in a template folder.
When I go to create a new page from a template and save it in
another folder the paths are modified appropriately to reflect
where the file is now located.
However when the person using ver 8 creates a new file from
the template and saves the file in a different folder, Dreamweaver
is not updating the path at all. It still reference everything as
in the template folder. Since the path statements are not in the
editable region these cannot be fixed. I have checked to make sure
that the ver 8 person's site set up is correct so that files are
referenced from the root and not a file.
Is this a problem because they are using ver 8?

Shouldn't be. But you can work around this by always using a
root relative
link to the include files.

I resolved the "Fatal Internal Error: "image.cpp", line 13192 when trying to insert a cursor to graph", but would like to share to find out if others have seen this and to determine whether this is a bug, or if it's time to redo my PC, or buy a new one..
I have an existing graphs (qt 6) which originally had 2 cursors. This occurred while trying to add the third cursor.
Up until attempting to add the last cursor, the program worked great, and I had been running tests for a while. However, I do recall seeing this problem when creating the original cursors, but not to this extent. Plus I don't remember the original error message from that time.
I needed to add one more cursor to the existing graphs. As soon as I add a new cursor and set it's properties, I get a nasty error message and without warning LV8.2 simply closes itself (well, the only warning was the error message. Tried it 3 times, same result.
Here are the steps:
Shut down the PC, went for a coffee, rebooted the PC. Opened the LV project, opened the VI. Immediately went to the graph properties to add the new cursor by doing the following steps:
Right click graph indicator icon on block diagram.
Select Properties.
Click on cursor tab.
Click on Add
Select Cursor 2 (3rd one, newly created)
Change color
Select cursor as a line
Remove checkmark for "show cursor"
Click OK
I need to do this to 3 other graphs, same steps. And as soon as I get to the step before clicking OK, I get the error message.
I managed to get an additional one done, by immediately saving after each step (yep going in & out of the properties). But I've had this problem before when creating the first two cursors.
Is it a bug? Anyone else seen this? Using LV8.2. And the message is right about LOOSING ALL unsaved work!!!!
Here are more observations:
Tried creating a new one on the second graph. As soon as I clicked on the color, it crashed!
See the error explanation below. It is really clear, now anyone can solve it    LOL!!... According to the error log, there's a bad image out there

I observed the title bar after making changes to the properties. I noticed that 3 out of 4 times, while changing the properties of the graphs to include the cursor, and saving after each & every step, that there were no stars appearing on the title bar to indicate "unsaved changes". Saving was also much slower than usual. I suspect, the program never got to placing the star before saving occurred. However, I am noting everything.
After creating the cursors, saving was and is normal, and the program runs well..   I have run tests without problems.
Does anyone have a clue at what causes this? Has anyone seen this before?

Hi Donovan,
I can't remember seeing this elsewhere. When I get a chance, I'll create a new (blank) vi with new graphs and will repeat the steps.
