ESS Configure steps in ECC 6.0
Hello ESS experts,
I am working on Functional ESS upgrade from 4.6c to ECC 6.0 (EP 7.0). We have installed all the required BSP's. Our company want to keep all the functionalities as they used in 4.6c ESS in Portal, from 46c to ECC 6.0 there is bit difference in IMG configure. Can anyone advise me how should I follow from backend R/3 to configure in IMG as per ESS requirement. Is I need to configure whole ESS configuration in ECC 6.0 in order to get those functionalities. I am comparing 46c staging to ECC 6.0 to make some analysis. Any upgrade documents.
Thanks,

Hello ,
I have made a Leave request workflow. I tried to execute the "Leave Request : Check" which comes under the SPRO t-code
{ IMG -> Personnel Mgmt -> ESS -> Service Specific Setting -> Working Time -> Leave Request -> Processing Processess -> Define Report Variants and Bakgrnd Processing}.
After I execute my workflow , I want to see the requests made by certain holders , in "Leave Request : Check" . But I see the screen blank when I execute by entering a specific Personel number. am I missing a part in the ess configuration ? Please help ....how did you create the leave for the employees ? By just triggering the workflow manually? Because that is not going to work. You have to trigger them from the portal or via the test application in transaction PTARQ

How to change the portal user id 's assigned employee in ESS configuration
Hello Gurus,
I now have a question related to ESS configuration. I want to know how to change the Portal user's pernr assignment in the ECC 6.0 system. Somebody had actually assigned my portal user ID a PERNR in the ECC 6.0 system. But now, for test purposes, I want to change the PERNR assignment to something else for my portal user id.
Could any of you please guide me in doing these steps?
Points will definitely be awarded for helpful answers.
Thanks gurus in advance for your help.
~~LBHi Leena,
You can create a new user name with the username and password assigned to it, with the transaction SU01.
Ex : ESS_USER1
Go to transaction code : PA30.
Enter the pernr you want to assign to the user ESS_USER1 that you have created earlier.
Enter infotype number : 105
Now go ahead and click on the change button.
And assign the user name as ESS_USER1.
Then the pernr number will be assigned to the ESS_USER1 that you have created.
You can check the same when you go to the HRUSER transaction code.
Please let me know if you still have any issues on the same.
Cheers.

Thanks for quick response.
I know how to add a user to HR user.
However "testess" user is only for JCO connection, it will not be used for any ESS functionality.
If i assign this user HR user, then how other user would be able to access there data.

ESS Configuration for Homepage Framework
I am an experienced web developer but new to SAP web Technologies and any info is much appreciated...
I now have an understanding how the SAP IMG configuration affects the SAP Portal ESS interface but ultimately what tells the ESS Portal to use the appropriate entry in the SAP IMG config
My objective is to setup the ESS portal to use a complete new set of config entries. Is there an easy way to do this?
For example in the Define Area Group page, what tells the portal to use "SAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005" and not my entry "MyEntrySAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005".
SAPDEFAULTESS
SAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005
MyEntrySAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005
Thank you,
James PinaThe Iviews within the Portal ESS role tell the system what menus to use. The intial Overview iview has parameters for the Header and Area Key which come standard pointing to the standard SAP Config entries. Also, each subarea has an Iview in the Portal that points to the Header, AreaGroup and Area key which also point to the standard SAP config entries.
To create your own menus, you will need to change the config in the IMG and then change the parameters within the Portal Iviews to point to your new config.
This link will explain in detail.

kumarHi,
Go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Right click on any folder -> Create -> System. Refer to this online help to create a system : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ec/0fe43d19734b5ae10000000a11405a/content.htm
In the last step, select the checkbox "open for editing". This is how you can edit you system properties: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/42/11e43d19734b5ae10000000a11405a/content.htm
Now,when you right click on this system created -> Open ->System Alias. You can create a system alias here. Refer to this section of online documentation : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e9/9bc93f92908032e10000000a11405a/content.htm
Hope this helps.

In the Addresses service, I want one subtype to display one set of configuration and another subtype to display another set of configuration. The configurations may differ by fields displayed and basic things like that. Is this possible or will development be required?
I'm using NW 2004s, SPS 10.
Thanks for any help.SAP does not provide the functionality.
