ESS Customization in Ehp4

Hi Experts
We need to enhance a standard ESS pakage in Ehp4. From Ehp4 ESS packages comes in WDA , so is there any document available to customize the standard packages available in WDA??

ESS customization : No impact in the Front ENd

Hi ALL,
I made the ESS customization in the IMG . (so ressources , area groups, area ...).
In the Front End , I stil have the same display.
I empty the cache and restart the IE but still have the same result.
I tried to change the mapping area group->area in the standard area group SAPESSDEFAULT but even for this nothing change ?
Any idea ?

I believe your overview iview is not pointing to correct SPRO Area Group page ID.

ESS Customization in WebDynpro ABAP

Hi Friends,
We are working on ESS Customization in Webdynpro abap. we have an issue.
We have General Data webdynpro screen having some fields, same screen framework is using for Travel Request creation, expense creation, in some other screens. Now I would like to add some more fields in the screen for Travel request creation.
I need some parameter to differ which screen it is.
please help me which parameter will differ, otherwise give me code to fetch the iview name in webdynpro. with this I can differentiate the screens.

Some questions relating to ESS Customization

Hi Gurus,
Have a couple of questions regarding ESS Customization. And also to understand ESS better.
1. I am trying to pull out the Additional Personal Info stored in Infotype - 0077 and show it in Portal. For this, I am planning to write a new functinal module/ RFC which would return the infotype values to front end. Is that ok or is there any best practice for doing this?
2. Where is the Home Area Page defined? Is it part of the WebDynpro component or is it stored as a configurable element in the backend? Any directions would be greatly appreciated. I am still in the process of importing the ESS Components into the track. So, couldnt get to see the code yet.
3. Which transaction can I use to see the various Infotypes' descriptions? And which transaction/ table can I use to see the
infotypes'contents or fields?

ESS customization deploy

Dear all,
We have some customization on ESS, and our consultant deploys the modified component by compile the component in NWDS as an EAR file, and manual deployment by the SDM tool.
It looks horribly wrong to me, as I think it should deploy via NWDI as a SCA.
Can someone please kindly clarify for me?

Thanks for the confirmation, would like to ask one more question.
As far as I know, in general the ESS customization will deploy development environment by component, but in production environment, it will deploy as SCA.
Because we don't have consolidation environment, I would like to know if I can fully simulate the production environment by assembly the SCA and deploy to development environment via SDM manually

Business package to be deployed for ESS/MSS in EHP4 SP11

Dear SAP Gurus,
Please let me know if ESS/MSS is integrated with EHP4 or I will have to deploy these packages to implement ESS/MSS.
I found from SDN that if ERP Stack is 16 and EHP4 SP 4 and SAP_APPL is 600 SP4 and EA_HR,SAP_HR at 604 11,
we need XSS JAVA components at SAP ESS 603 SP05
SAP MSS 600 SP16
PCUI_GP 603 SP05
and BP ERP05 ESS 1.41 SP04
BP ERP05 MSS 1.41 SP04
BP ERP05 COMMON PARTS 1.41 SP04
needs to be deployed.
Please let me know if it is correct.

During an install or upgrade to EHP4 EHPi or MOPZ should propose ESS/MSS components, versions and SP levels
Failing this check note 1359937 it should provide the information you need

Ess Customization by NWDS

Hello all,
I have two question.
1. i have to customize the ESS web dynpro application e.g. Address Screen for USA and SAUDI. we have to add the date field "Hijra Date" and "Hijra Age" from the Backend for saudi and have to add some fields on USA as well. How may i do it give step by procedure for importing it into nwds then how it will reflect back.
2.i know that first i have to import these application in NWDS threw NWDI. but if i will import it and change it here then how will it reflect back and if i change it then then original will get removed or not .
3. Can we create the 2 copies of a single component like "Address". What can be the right approach to maintain the screens for US and SAUDI, can we hide some fields from the particular screen of US or SAUDI at run time. And if we can, How ?

You have to first setup the NWDI...then create tracks in it and import the ESS SCA file into it....then import the track as Development Configuration ....then create a project for it....check out the code ...start modifying it and check it back in...refer to the note 872892 for it...

ESS Customization with FPM

Hi,
I need to do some customization of ESS/MSS applications. I heared that there is framework called FPM ( Floor Plan Manager) which is used for ESS/MSS applications,
Could u some let me know how that FPM will work and how to learn and do it , If u have any links, please give it to me.

Hi Jyothi,
The FPM is the central part of the self services architecture. Technically it is implemented as webdynpro component. For HCM, the FPM is the underlying framework.
You shall deploy Business package for self service administrator. This business package provides a administrator role and four iviews FPM Application Editor, FPM Application Wizard, FPM View Editor
and FPM View Wizard.

Build error while NWDI ESS Project creation for ESS Customization

Hi
We are using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.0.11 and trying to create a project in NWDI for ESS (ESS 6.0) customization.
When we create project from the Inactive DC (essgbpdatahttp://com.sap), it is giving several build errors.
We have tried Sync Sources many times, checked and verified the Java Build Path as well.
The 1st error in the Tasks tab is
The project was not built since its classpath is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for com.sap.aii.proxy.framework.core.AbstractType. Fix the classpath then try rebuilding this project.
Then there are several other errors like
Application Per_Personal_GB: Component is missing.
Application Per_Personal_GB: Start up plug is missing.
Seems some dependent files/ DCs are missing but we are not sure which ones.
Could you please help?

I could not find any gen_wdp folder in Navigator tab and also there are jar files but none of them have warnings.
Is there any thing else which is creating problem.
I exactly followed the steps mentioned in the thread ESS/MSS Customization Make it Simple
But standard SAP ESS package itself is giving lot of error.

Regd ESS customization with a *.sda file

Hi friends,
I have a ess~bank.sda file. There is no NWDI setup. The SDA contains src.zip and a WDA archive file. Its on EP 7.0 and Business package ESS 60.2.
Please let me know how I can extact this sda file into NWDS make changes and archive it back again into an sda. The changes I need to make are only View changes. The DC workspace or the DC itself is not available.
The available component is the sda files. Please guid as to how I can continue to make customization in such a situation.

Hi ramesh,
Copy the SDA file to some directory. Change the extension of the file to zip. Unzip the file. You can import files in unzip folder.
.SDA files are to be deployed using SDM & it consist of .JAR files while PAR is a portal archive file that contains all files created during portal application development.

ESS Customization : Values From Detail View to Review

I am working on ESS portal customization. We have scenario where I need to pass the value from Detail component to review component..
Did the same US/Bank application is working fine.
On repeating the same steps in US/Addr or in Ca/addr values go null to review component.
Please help me solving the Issue.

ESS customization question

I have a question on W4 customization, in the overview screen i want to add the name and address fields which are not part of W4 model, But these are available on address ess application model , so how to get the rfc's of address application model in to w4 and what steps are involved in the context mapping to make it available in w4 overview screen.please give your inputs.

Do one thing
go to "SE16"
Table Name PA0002
And "Enter"
Then give the PERNR no ( say i want to check the data for pernr "00000001" )
Then 'execute" or "F8"
It will show the data .....( here you can check it )
