ESS Framework Homepage

Hi all,
I imported ESS BP version 6.2 and I started to customize its homepage, see following documentation on the link Adjusting Area Group Pages and Area Pages
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
the problem I realized is that customizing on ECC and ESS homepage on the portal don't match. As instance customizing contain three entries in the table concerning services add at the area, while on the portal I see only two links in the related area.
Have you an idea for the problem?
TNX

Hi Shubham,
I had a look to the following message you inserted in a different topic:
Hello Mik,
Have you changed the location of the ESS BP in the PCD?
Have you customized your services, areas in the backend properly?
Try running ESS Menu outside portal. You can run http://<servername>:<portname>/webdynpro/dispatcher/<DomainName>/XssMenu
<DomainName> can be 'sap.com' for standard services.
Now goto Personal Information scenarios. Do you see the services. If not then there are no services defined in the Pers Info area at the backend. You have to do this customization. If you can see the services here, then check the URL for PCD page for all the services, then goto your portal and in the PCD check whether these iViews exist for the defined path.
I did not change PCD location of ESS BP and I have done homepage customizing.
It was really useful to realize that there is difference between homepage via portal and external. In external way I can see all services that are set on ECC, is not the same for portal.
At the moment I did not understand the reason, could depend on cache setting?
PS: for standard service there is not URL for PCD page
bye

    Hi,
I would like to change the Overview page of the ESS framework and add ICONS and links poiniting to my custom WD for Java applications. Can anyone help me out. I am aware of how to add resources/Services under a sub Area. But I want to also make an entry point of my applications from the overview page.
    Regards,
    Murali.

    hi muralidharan,
folow these steps to add links to ur application in the overview page of ESS.
    1. first of all, create the iviews and the pages of your webdynpro applications.
    2. create resource in the transaction spro. (spro->img->personal management->employee self service->general settings->homepage framework->resource)
    3. add the pcd location of ur page in this resource.
    4. create a service  and then add this resource in this service. select the appropriate type of service.
    5. add this service in the subarea. this will act as the entry point for your application. do not forget to maintion the description , coz  ESS will take that string as the link!
    6. add this subarea into the area .
    and here you go !
you have modified the overview page of your ESS .

  • ESS framework in web dynpro for ABAP?

Recently, I need to start an ESS project using web dynpro for ABAP. Unlike web dynpro for java, we have ESS framework in every track, like pcui/xx DCs and ess/per DCs in the track. And as there are existed projects in the DCs like ESS/JP/ADDRESS, we can just follow suit.
My question is: are there ESS frameworks in web dynpro for ABAP? Or existed ESS projects based on web dynpro for abap?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
As far as i know, it would need really a huge amount of effort to develop ess on Webdynpro for ABAP. As you know that it is not a part of SAP standard delivery, you really have to start it from the scratch.
It would be a custom developed application.

  • New ESS config - Homepage Framework (area group, etc) seems to be missing

    Hi,
I am installing the new ESS 1.0 for ECC6 (ERP5).
I succsessfully imported with SDM he new:
    ESS BP
    PCUI_GP
I then created all systems in the portal and all JCo's.
When I try and open Employee Self-Service (any pages) in the Portal I get the following error:
Area group SAPDEFAULTESSERP2005 does not exist._
It seems like the Homepage Framework has not been imported for some reason as there are no default area groups or anything else in homepage framework.
Have I missed something? Is there something else I also had to import?
    Many thanks,
    Adriaan

    Dear ,
it seems that you are trying to use an ERP2005 ESS package with an
ERP2004 backendsystem. Unfortuanetly this is not working.
    You can use
    ERP2004 - ECC5 - NW2004 - ESS 100 - ESS BP ERP2004
    or
    ERP2005 - ECC6 - NW2004s - ESS 600 - ESS1.0 BP ERP2005
However it should be possible to connect the ESS 100 application which
are running on a NW2004 to an EP7.
    Hope this should be helpful.
    Best Regards,

  • ESS Homepage Framework Languages

    Hi,
Did anyone use New ESS Business Package(Web Dynpro based) in different languages? We see texts related to ESS Framework Page in English even if we are accessing the portal in other languages.
If so what did you guys do to solve this issue?
    Thanks

    Hello,
please check your language settings in ESS relevant JCo connections.
We encountered the same issue and our JCo's were spanish - don't know why.
After changing language we got the right language in ESS/backend.
    Cheers

  • ESS Homepage URL Resource

    Hello,
I am trying to configure a 'Direct URL' resource in the ESS WebDP homepage framework. My link appears but is not behaving like a hyperlink. Right clicking it just gives a 'javascript(null)' error. Clearly the URL address I have specified in the resource is not being read properly.
    Has anyone done this successfully?
    Thanks
    Mr.T

    Hi Tahir,
Right clicking may not work because the auto-generated URLs (I'm assuming you're defining the Direct URL resource in IMG on the R/3 side) are being created using the JavaScript EPCF API which uses the doNavigate() and other methods. If you right click on the page itself and click on View Source and search for the text of the hyperlink you're testing, you'll find the direct link is coded with javascript, similar to the following:
    <A HREF="myLink" onclick="return EPCM.doNavigate('target')">
    This is HTML Link</A>

  • WebSphere Integration with ESS/MSS Error

    Hi All,
We are trying to setup a scenario where we embed the SAP Portal within WebSphere portlets. Plan is that we would have WebSphere link to the ESS HomePage. We have setup a URL alias in the web-inf with nested_window=1. The websphere guys are using the the WebSphere clipper to create the portlets but this is giving us javascript errors (e.g. Access Denied, etc). This means when we click on any of the ESS framework links e.g. Personal Data the webdynpro spinner comes up and nothing happens i.e. they screen does not change.
Any thoughts on what might be the issue? Is the Clipper the best tool to use?

    Hi Mendonca,
Error is due to mis match of patches.
Check with SAP_HR and EA_HR patches. Try to maintaine the patches to 26 patch. By this u can resolve the issues.
That means Patches from Java side and Backend side need to be maintained at there same levels.

    kishore.

How can I get Internet Explorer to quit opening to the Visual Studio net framework homepage. I want my own homepage to open.

    Hi Ann,
It seems you want to set the homepage in IE. If it is, please open IE, go to "Internet Options"->"General"->"Home Page".
By the way, the forum support .net framework setup. You issue is not about the forum. I will move it to off-topic forum. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Dynamic Parameters in URL-IView

    Hai,
I am using the ESS-framework and I want to create a link which calls an URL with dynamic parameters.
I have already created an URL-Iview with the example url:
    http://a.nl:51800/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~isr/IsrForm
And I also defined a resource and a service in the backend (Customizing)
    My question is:
How can I dynamically generate the Parameters SCENARIO and MODE in the url using the URL input field in the defined resource?

    Hi Remco,
If you create several resources for the same webdynpro (isrform) you can pass params via the resource definition (URL params).
Your webdynpro application can be defined as:
    - Webdynpro application (in the xss homepage framework) as a resource;
    - URL resource linking to a portal page/iview (with params): url iview with params
    - URL resource linking to a portal page/iview (with params): webdynpro iview with params
But before you are going to tweak with it, please try to find out if your url will work:
    http://a.nl:51800/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~isr/IsrForm?scenaro=SPEG&mode=CREATE.
If this works, then create an iview in the portal of the url type or webdynpro type. Does it still work with static params? If so, remove the static params from your iview properties.
    Now try the following link:
    http://yourportal:port/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=pcd_path_to_your_iview
If this works, check out the following link:
    http://yourportal:port/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=pcd_path_to_your_iview&DynamicParameter=MODE%3DCREATE%26SCENARIO%3DSPEG
Everything after DynamicParameter must be encoded. To find out what the encoding is, just use google and search for your characher. As an example (let's find the = sign):
    http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=%3D&meta=
    %3D is the = sign
    Last step:
Create a resource as described on top of this post.
This will be my approach to get this working
    Good luck!

If I am not wrong, the issue might be with commos-validator.jar or any other jar file? If so please let me know the correct version & the URL to download the same.

You should use the jars provided on the struts framework homepage. A nice tutorial about validation in struts can be find here: http://courses.coreservlets.com/Course-Materials/pdf/struts/09-Struts-Automatic-Validation.pdf
Check that tutorial to see if you've done everithing well.

  • New to Guided Procedures

    Hi,
I ma new to GP and trying to find the scope of GP in our business.I have a few queries
    1) Should the initiation always start from GP runtime ? Like, cant I have an WD application (Time-Off Approval) on the portal, which employee's will use it to send Time off requests.
    2) In runtime, we assign Roles to UME Users. Its like almost hardcoding. Cant I pick up the approvers dynamically from SAP PA Tables. In an Organization, there are many project groups. Each employee would tyr to access the Time-Off Approval WebDynpro App from the portal any time. Now the system must be able to forward the request to the approver at that point of time for the particular employee. Is this possible in GP.
Kindly clarify me on the above.
    Regards,
    Murali.

    Hi
    Thanks for ur inputs Andre.
Yes, right now, I am having a custome BAPI which is comsumed by a webDynpro Application and is used by my employee & administrator. The logic of directing the request to the administrator , soon after an employee requests, is encoded in this BAPI. We have put this WD application in ESS framework. The workflow triggering part is also done within the BAPI.
So the cycle begins like this. Employee goes to ESS and opens the Time-Off approval application and submits it. BAPI triggers a workflow. Administrator finds a task in his UWL in portal. When he clicks on it, it opens up another WD application and when he submits it, the cycle gets completed.
I am just thinking in this lines and trying to simulate this with GP. And yes, portal id = ERP id. We are running on NW04s.
So is this cycle very much possible for me to do using GP and avoiding workflows.
    Reagrds,
    Murali.

  • Links in GAF's Confirmation Step

    Hi,
I have configured Confirmation Step for GAF application. How can I add links/URLs that would take me the ESS/MSS homepage, and overview screen(step 1 of GAF application)?
    Thanks,
    Reena

    HI,
To go back to the initial screen from the confirmation screen, you can find a start over fpm event from confirmation screen.
    follow these threads
