ESS implementation issue.

hi all
I am implementing ESS on the NW04s platform. I have done all configuration in the front end and the back end (ECC 5.0). When I assign the role ESS to a user I see only the role, workset and one page (overview). I am not able to see the other pages even though they are attached to the role. Initially I did not even see the role but then attached the everyone group to the same. Now I am unable to find the issue for the pages not appearing. Can I use ECC 5.0 and EP 7.0 for BPs. Any help?
Thank you all.
regards
LNV

Check the permission role and Role content..
you can open the location of ESS content and there right click and open permissions and then assign it to your role.
you can check <a href="http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm">Setting of permissions</a>
also check the authorization section of <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3467">Document</a>
Hope this helps.
Warm regards,
Sudhir

  • ESS implementation

    Hi,
Can any one help me about the ESS implementation process? Like what are all the main areas in the ESS implementation? For example if a company wants to implement the following modules (below) mean what are all the things need to be done to achieve this and important areas in this. Also advice me like can we use the existing SAP ESS business package? Is there any new version available? Or do we need to develop our own like same SAP ESS BP. Or do we need to customize the existing one? That means how to do? Apart from that how do we do Java Development using Custom Java or Webdynpro's in ESS? Where it is actually involving? Can you please help me sharing some documents related to the following ESS implementation process? It will be a great help. If any body willing to help me in this regard please send to
    [email protected]
I would like to know more on the following areas of ESS.
Who’s who (ESS) – Determine Document
Who’s who (ESS) – Refine Employee search type
Who’s who (ESS) – Selection and output (PZ01)
Who’s who (ESS) – Selection and output (PZ35, MiniH) Create SAP User for ESS
Who’s who/user’s own data (ESS): Determine Funct Personal Information (ESS): Determine Subtype
    Benefits ESS setup service.
    Thanks,
    Venu Padmanaban

    Hi Venu,
First of all you have not mentioned that which SAP version do you have?
SAP ESS in mySAPERP 2004 (WebDynpro Based) is completely different from SAP ESS in 4.6C and Enterprise versions(ITS Based).
So you have two different business packages available for both the above.
For ERP2004 you have to deploy the following sca file PCUI_GP05_1.sca
    ESS05_1.sca
on you J2EE(Portal) Server. Then there are some customizing needs to be done. You can search for the same on help.sap.com and in this forum as well. Also refer note 824847.
For ESS Implementation in earlier version you can refer.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/54/b1da361ea93f0ae10000009b38f839/frameset.htm
I think Standard 'who is who' should satisfy most of your requirements.
    Hope this helps.

  • ESS Implementation problem.

    DearAll.
I am facing the problem in ESS Implementation ,Once I am clicking on create travel request I am getting the
following error, kindly help on this .
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.ContextConfigurationException: DataNodeInfo(FcTreGeneralData.GeneralDataCheck.GeneralDataCheck_Output.GeneralDataCheck_E_General_Data): structure field City_Districtadr not found
My Portal version is Netviewer 7.01 with patch 6
ESS Version is :   BP 100 patch 21.
    ECC version is :   ECC5
    SAP_HR -67
    EA_HR  -38
What I am thinking that I need patch update in SAP_HR and EA_HR.If I am going through this then
what will be reflection on current running system.
    Abhishekh Singh

    Enteg Infotech Pvt Ltd.

    Thanks for Quick response .
All other WD application is running like if we are creating travel in backend then
inside the  trip and expanses ,all trips are coming means no problem in webdynpro
.this error i was getting when I was developing webdynpro java application and added anything in
backend and j2ee is not restarted and using this in frontend.
Is it a version mismach problem because if structure field is used in front end and missing in r3 then
    this error may come.
If it is then what patch is required for SAP_HR and EA_HR in ECC5.

  • ESS Implementation Guide

    Hi,
we are going to implement ESS at one of our clients place and I need some help in this regard.
Is their a place where in I can downlaod the ESS Implementation Guide.
    Regds

    Books
SAP Employee Self-Service, Installation Guide, Release 4.6 (for SAP R/3 4.6B, ISBN
    1-893570-99-1)
(*---> ok book in my opinion...covers 4.6b and mostly covers ITS)
SAP Employee Self-Service, Release 4.6C, Implementation Guide (material number
    50041350, ISBN 1-893570-97-5)
(--> very good book on config. of ESS ...written for 4.6c but applies pretty much to 4.6c and everything before it since each version just builds on the other with additional services available)
Additionally, utilize the help.sap.com link for your backend version.
Also, you will need the business package documentation (available on this site) depending on the business package you use as well as the backend system.
I am actually working on(kicking around the idea) of writing a ESS guide for mySAP ERP (which would cover 4.6c as well since ITS is still used).

  • Smartform Implementation issue for the report  RFKORD50

    Hi,
I have a requirement to implement a smartform for FI Invoice.
This smartform should be configured in OB96 for the print program RFKORD50.
Currently the SAP Script F140_DOCU_EXC_01 has been configured for Standard print program RFKORD50.
This SAP Script should be replaced with Smartform. But the issue is the report  RFKORD50 is designed to
call only a SAP Scrip. Is there any better way to trigger the Smartform other than modifying the standard program?
    Thanks,
    Sailaja.A

    Hi,
One of the very tough task, when it comes to migrate a script into Smartforms .. With a satndard print program ..
You have a option on samrtform screen , just to migrate a Sapscript into Smartform .. But it is just a migration of Layout.. means just creation of WINDOWS and pages.. All the elements and text node creation still you need to do ..
But one of the major challenge is to Customize your print program..
So i will suggest you to create a Z copy of RFKORD50.. as print prgm .. Then you can feal better
Now keep all the data selection part as it is .. collect it in different structure, then call your samrtform..
and before calling your smartform, prepare your layout ..
Very Imp suggestion, try to work on small small task.

  • ESS implementation posibility with ECC 6.0 and EP 6.0

    Hi ,
To implement ESS with ECC 6.0 and EP 6.0
Any body can suggest for this implementation feasibility and  possibility.
What are the Business packages has to down load and where can we get those BPs.?
After importing into EP 6.0 , what are the configurations and settings required to get SAP HR screens/ivews (preview when we create after systems in EP),
What are the prerequisites and hardware and software requirements for 8000 users (apprx) ?
Any version upgradations are required for implementing this or
can we use this ECC 6.0 as backend and EP 6.0
and please help required for all those things.
    Thanks
    Kumar.

For ESS/MSS based on ECC 6.0 (ERP 2005), you can download the XSS business packages from
service.sap.com/download --> Support patches and packages --> Entry By application Group --> SAP Application Components --> SAP ERP -->
SAP ERP 2005 --> Entry By Component --> SAP XSS --> (SAP ESS 600, SAP MSS 600 and SAP PCUI_GP 600).
You can use JSPM to apply these business packages on to the portal. To use JSPM, you have to login to the portal server using <SID>adm to be able to use the JSPM tool.
Business Packages and components in it: you BP consists of the 2 following parts
    1) BP_ERP5ESS / BP_ERP5MSS is Portal Business package which consist of iview, pages and roles.. while SAP_ESS / SAP_MSS. is WebDynpro part of it.
These iviews will direct to some WD application which are part of SAP_ESS / SAP_MSS. and they are deployed on server.
    2) you have to simple go to
service.sap.com/downloadSupport patches and packagesEntry By application GroupSAP Application ComponentsSAP ERPSAP ERP 2004/2005--Entry By ComponentSAP XSS
pick the correct version and download. You get full package not incremental. Old ones will be overwritten when you deploy them. try to download them again if it failed first time.
    3) Refer note 761266 for package compatibility.

  • ESS Portal Issue

    ESS Gurus,
We have a typical ESS issue at one of our cliens in the live system:
The landscape details are as mentioned below:
    SAP ECC 6.0 with EHP4
    SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0 with JEE:-SP15 & JEECOR:- SP13
We recently upgraded the SAP ECC 6.0 with EHP4 and we have not upgraded the Portal.
Post the upgrade to backend ECC system with EHP4, in the ESS Portal 7.0 we are facing a typical issue while accessing "Personnel Details" as mentioned below:

  • Roll-out project implementation issue

    Dear colleagues,
This issue might have already been turned up but couldn't find any related threads.
We have created our template project, set up the structure, added project documentations (11MBs converted to PDF ), training materials, everything seems to be ok here.
Now we have to create our first implementation project based on the template. Template is defined and is public (visible), Global Rollout Functionality is activated. The issue is, when we cretate the implementation project the structure is copied from the template, even the training materials can be seen in SOLAR02, but none of our blueprint documents are copied to the roll-out project.
Have you ever faced such situation before? Do you have any clue where to find the root cause of this?
thanks in advance for your replies

    Hi,
Below mentioned is the details of using the SOLMAN for template rollout project. Hope this helps you.
The process of setting up and using the template in projects involves two or more individual projects. The first project is referred as "Master Project".
For Master project: Global Program Setup(Project Preparation)
    - Create a master project. this must be of project type template since this will allow the packaging of reuse elements.
    - Create the required number of templates(with in master project). At this stage, these templates are empty packages.
    - Select standard scenarios as a starting point to build business scenarios in the master project, in the same way as for a normal project.
For Master project: Global Buisness Blueprint
    - Detail standard scenarios to customer specific solution structure
    - Assign template(s) at the scenario level of the customer specific solution structure
    - Set global attributes to determine global/standard/harmonised/local processes
    - Describe global business and technical requirement.
    ==========================================
Reuse of template at local rollout site
    Project Preparation:
    - Create a local "rollout" project. This can be either an implemetation project type or can itself be a template project type if you may need to reuse sections of this project in its own right.
    - Select one or multiple templates and related scenarios in the scope tabbed page.
Note: there is no direct relationship between the templates choosen here. In other words you can attach tempalte form multiple other "master" projects, which may have no other relationship to one another.
    Business Blueprint:
    - The contents of the templates which have been attached to the "roll-out" project appears as elements of the project structure.
    - Processes defined as global attributes with in the template area dopted wholesale with no changes.
    - Adapt harmonised and local processes to local specific requirement(such as enhance process scope).
    - Document local specific requirements of harmonised or local processes.
    - Add further local specific structure elements as required and document.
Hope this help. Pls assign points.

  • ESS Implementation with WDJ + WDA

    Hello all!!
I´m going to implement ESS with WebDynpro ABAP, however, I have a couple of applications in WebDynpro Java. Is it possible to achieve this?? Can I include my WDJ app in the launchpad?? How is it done??
    Thanks a lot

I found sap note 1450179 which states that it is possible: "Additional custom-built or standard applications, which are based on WD Java, can be added to the launchpad Customizing (using transaction code LPD_CUST) in the back-end system as the "Portal Pages" application category. Standard launchpad Customizing uses the ESS role and the MENU instance."
However, I still don't know how to achieve the task exactly.
    I'll appreciate any help!

  • ESS Implementation based on Web Dynpro Abap(WDA)

    Hi All,
I would like to know if anybody can share experience in implementing ESS based on WDA using ESS business package 1.50 on portal. I would like to know how different this implementation compared to configuration using Web Dynpro Java(WDJ).
    Thanks in advance.
    Khairul

The difference can be due to deployment, ie if you want Portal to be used if you are already not using ECC 500 or 600
You can be a ramp up customer or wait for it wide release in march end or april
the key difference is most of the customisation of the roles can be done from backend!
Just read these links for better understanding of this
