  • Customization of ESS LeaveRequest

    Dear Experts ,
      I am new to webdynpro java .
              I have a customization requirement in ESS LeaveRequest Application .when I opened ESS~Lea DC I saw almost 20 components . Can anybody let me know what is the exact component and view in which I have to do the customization.
    I am attaching the screen shot of the exact requirement in that leave request application .
    I have to add a input field :" Reviewer " just below the Approver . Please see the screen shot .
    Thanks

    Hi All ,
    Solution for the above problem is resolved by using higher verion jdk@NWDS side.
    I am able build and deploy successfully by using JDK1.5.0_18.

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException with ess~lea LeaveRequest application on 5.0

    When we try to start the LeaveRequest-application of ess~lea the system still generates a 500 Internet Server Error. We tried to do all the required customizing.
    We have read all other related SDN-messages on this problem but there seems to be no working solution. Anyone who knows a solution?

    Hi all,
    If my memory serves me well, the exception is thrown because the application needs a working calendar for a person provided in time mangement. Make sure the correct infotypes are used. Also the organization structure needs to be set up correctly. The manager needs someone to approve and the employee needs someone to get approved by.
    Regards, Marcel.

  • Regarding ESS Addresses application

    Hi,
    We are using EP 7.0 and implemented ESS/MSS.
    Now they have activated Com01, Num01 fields of Infotype 6(Adresses).
    But these fields are not visible in the Addresses application of ESS.
    For example if I add these entries in Permanent address type, these fields are not displayed in Portal,
    Is there any configuration available in the ECC to make these fields visible in portal ESS application also since these fields are standard or do we need to go for customization.
    Any idea on this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vivek.

    Hi,
    In order to add the required fields in the ESS Addresses application,  we need to add those fields in the following structure of the country specific function module HRXSS_PER_EDIT_P0006_XX where XX u2013 defines the country code(say de- germany, fr-france)
    Structure: HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0006  where again XX u2013 defines the country code

  • "Need explicit attach before authenticating user" (solution)

    Another customer is getting this same error code. Originally, I thought
    it was due to connection paramters, but this may be the problem.

    that running SQL*Plus GUI worked but using the same parameters on
    sqlplus or utils.dbping from the command line did not work. Lookingat
    the PATH I noticed that Oracle Enterprise Manager had its "bin"

    Solution: Make sure the ORACLE_HOME\bin directory (NT only) is aheadof

    P.S. To add insult to injury Oracle8 uses JDK 1.1.7 to run its Universal

    You probably can, but this type of configuration is not recommended or supported by Apple.
    Two cautions if you want to try this:
    1)  The Time Capsule has to be configured to "Join" your existing wireless network in this type of setup...and to do that, you must know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using.
    2)  Backups are likely going to take twice as long. The wireless signal must travel from your computer to the wireless router and then from the wireless router back to the Time Capsule.  Two "hops"......even if the computer is located close to the Time Capsule.
    If you want to try this, we can tell you how....but with no guarantees on your results....since this is not officially supported.

  • Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.

    Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
    I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
    The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
    You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
    application and the selection is stored in a config file in
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
    In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
    users.
    Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
    services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
    So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
    in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
    SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
    physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
    SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    they actually get
    C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    and user "B" gets
    C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

    I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
    I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
    printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
    Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
    (a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
    After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
    This was clarified by the following series of comments:
    I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
    and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET

    @JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

    You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

    @JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

    Ah. Yes. I see. Looks like the LPT thing should work even with a USB connected printer:superuser.com/questions/182655/… –  James

    I teach Continuing education classes to Real Estate agents and I need to issue them certificates at the class, whihc need to be signed by me and it needs to contain their info on the certificate. The certificate is currently saved in a word format.What i'm trying to accomplish is to do a "mail merge " ( as some classes i have as many as 150 attendees) for the document, digitally sign each one with my signature on the certificate and then e-mail it out to the respective attendees. can this be done? if so How?

    This is the step that I took after inputting my signature.
    On the right, after saving my document, I click "Get Others to Sign."  I was confused because it says that it's powered by EchoSign.  Like I stated before, my clients are able to sign this document when I send it to them, but it is returned to me with their signature (not in the signature field, but at the end of the document), and my signature is missing.  I tested this on myself - my signature is missing when they receive it.

    I have purchased a Kanex C247DL cable adaptor - thru amazon for about $90.00 -
    this allows for me to connect to a Non Unibody MacBook pro 15" laptop to a Apple 27' LED Cinema monitor
    I needed a Female minidisplay port to a Male DVI adapter.
    This Kanex made adapter allowed for the monitor ( which is one long cable with 3 plugs - 1 for power, 1 USB male and the 1 male mini display port- only 3 usb female ports in the back of the monitor itself)
    to plug its USB and the minidisplay port from the monitor and then plug directly into my macbook pro thru the older styled monitor ( female) plug on the right of the computer + plugging into a USB port (which I have on both sides of my unit) - problem solved - i guess i will find out when the adaptor arrives -

  • Need to attach a pdf stored in local system in a mail

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where i need to attach a pdf file stored in my local system (D:\\Templates\\InquiryResponceform). In FileData Source i am giving the file path as shown below FileDataSource source = new FileDataSource("D:\\Templates\\InquiryResponceform.pdf");
    When i am running the program it is sending the mail to the user but it is not attachning the pdf file.
    Below is the code which i am using:
    Properties properties = new Properties();
    properties.put("mail.smtp.host","HYDPROJSMTP");
    Session session = Session.getInstance(properties,null);
    javax.mail.Message message=new MimeMessage(session);
    message.setFrom(new InternetAddress("[email protected]"));
    message.setRecipient(javax.mail.Message.RecipientType.TO,new InternetAddress("[email protected]"));
    message.setSubject("TestMail");
    MimeBodyPart messageBodyPart=new MimeBodyPart();
    MimeBodyPart mimeBodyText=new MimeBodyPart();
    FileDataSource source = new FileDataSource("D:\\Templates\\InquiryResponceform.pdf");
    messageBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(source));
    messageBodyPart.setFileName("InquiryResponceform.pdf");
    mimeBodyText.setText("Hello");
    Multipart multipart = new javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart();
    multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
    multipart.addBodyPart(mimeBodyText);
    message.setContent(multipart);
    message.setText("Hi This is testmail");
    Transport.send(message);
    Please let me know how to achieve this. Points guaranteed
    Thanks in advance

    Your mistake is here:
    message.setContent(multipart);
    message.setText("Hi This is testmail");The setText call overwrites everything that was done by the setContent call,
    replacing the multipart content of the message with simple text content.

  • Customizing ESS~BEN application

    Hi All,
    Some customization is required in the ess~ben application.
    Requirement: The buttons in the ContainerPlanDetailView (of controller VcBenefitsPlanDetail) have to be copied in the PlansOfPlanTypeView (of controller VCBenefitsPlansOfPlanType). The functionality is also to be copied, i.e. the action performed by the buttons in both the view should be the same.
    I also want to know how we define navigation between perspective in this application or any ESS application.
    Thanks,
    Vibha Singhal

    Hi Vibha,
                First you copy  the buttons from layout tab of ContainerPlanDetailView  to layout tab of PlansOfPlanTypeView. Create actions with same names as  in ContainerPlanDetailView. Now copy the code  from methods onActionXXX of ContainerPlanDetailView   to that of PlansOfPlanTypeView.
