Has anyone used ESS/MSS in a concurrent employement.
Do all iView work?

Reg: ESS for Concurrent Employment.
As Far as Benefits is concerned, for ex. for participation overview iview the benefits information is tied to the main assignment, so  i think ESS with concurrently employed persons works for some of Benefits related iviews.
Simlilarly it works for some payroll related iviews - salary statement.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
But lot of other iviews are an area of concern. Specially the time management related. Iviews like 1. Record Working Time 2. Time Statement 3. Leave Request
4. Quota overview. Not quite sure if this works for concurrently employed persons.
Any help or inputs from someone who are in similar situation will be really appreciated.

    We use the multiple employment solution at our institution.  All the literature relating to ESS and MSS refers to concurrent employment which we do not have activated.
    Is there anyway we can get a multiple contract holder to be able to access all of the their "contracts" through ESS using the multiple employment solution only.

  • ESS/MSS limit of concurrent users

    I have to implemantation the ESS/MSS in sap with SOA. I would like to know : How many users will be accessing ESS at the same time? In particular, how many should be the concurrent users ( to do the same activity ) will be accessing ESS , to ensure the  server response doesn't deteriorate? ( Side web frontend )

    hi.
    i tried to draw a picture with a typical ess scenario. from the browser to the abap backend.
    it's not too sharp but i think you will see what i mean.

    You see that you need lots of infrastructure. All parts need - more or less - resources. If there is heavy load you need more cpu and ram (for example adding more server processes on the as java of the portal) but you also have to configure the web dispatchers, the as java, the as abap (icm). Thats the architecture for the ess service. It doesn't help when asking "how many people can call a time sheet on abap". you have to look at all components...
    If i were you and i do not know lots about the load i would start conventional (not completely oversized). It's a process to get a well performing system. You always have to make corrections when running productive. thats the job we love :o)))

  • Concurrent Employment and MSS ( Structural Authorisation)

    We are having some problem with Structural authorisation in case of concurrently employed users. The scenarios is as follows
    1. User A is manager and have MSS role and relevant PD profile
    2. User P is employee . This employee is concurrently employed. one position of this user is in the organisation unit of manager A and the another position for this
    The problem is that the manager A is unable to approve the form submitted by the employee P. if we remove concurrent employment it start working again.
    I can see that Manager has structural access over employee P in tcode OOSb
    Any suggestion will be welcome

    The problem we were having is that index was not updated. So inspite of having access to the user i was not able to approve the form. I have regenerated the index via report rhbaus00 which fixed the problem

  • Concurrent Employment in ESS

    Hi All,
           We need to implement Concurrent Employment in ESS to our client, i am new to this Concurrent Employment, right now we are using ESS 600, for enabling of Concurrent Employment do i need to Upgrade Business Package or Support Package Upgradation or i need to do customize my ESS applications.

    Have a look at  Note 1118801 - ESS CE/GE Important configuration steps
    You must perform the following Customizing activities for Concurrent Employment:
    1. Activate Concurrent Employment/Management of Global Employees
    Perform all the activities in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Personnel Administration -> Basic Settings -> Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment or by choosing Management of Global Employees -> Global Settings.
    2. BAdI: Determine Personnel Assignments of User via CP Relationship
    To identify all personnel assignments of an employee assigned to the same Central Person, perform the following activity in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Personnel Administration -> Basic Settings -> Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment -> BAdI: Determine Personnel Assignments of User via CP Relationship.
    3. Activate Authorization to Change Own Data for Concurrent Employment
    To allow an employee to maintain data for all personnel assignments that belong to the same Central Person, perform the following activity in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Personnel Administration -> Basic Settings -> Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment -> Activate Authorization to Change Own Data for Concurrent Employment.
    4. Assign CE/GE Group Definition Settings to ESS Applications
    Ensure applications are ESS CE/GE-enabled by performing the following activity on each application in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Employee Self-Service -> General Settings -> Concurrent Employment/Global Employment -> Assign CE/GE Group Definition Settings to ESS Applications.
    Refer to the Business Package documentation for a list of services for which Concurrent Employment is available in ESS. Go to SAP Library under SAP ERP Central Component -> Human Resources -> Personnel Management -> Business Package for Employee Self-Service 1.31 -> Release Note for Business Package for ESS 1.31.
    5. (Optional) Configure Unavailability of Services
    If necessary, you can make services unavailable to certain (for example, inactive) employees by performing the following activity in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Employee Self-Service -> General Settings -> Concurrent Employment/Global Employment -> Configure Unavailability of Services.

  • Concurrent employment, Manager

    Hi Experts.
    I have activated the Concurrent Employment and some of the infotypes are shared between the separated employments for example infotype 0105.
    Everything looks fine in the backend system but some parts doesn't work in the Portal.
    Example: A Manager have two separated employments with two different personnel numbers on two different organizational units.
    In the MSS, the manager can only see the subordinates from one organizational unit.
    The ESS is working and the manager can choose between his different personnel numbers to register time and so on.
    Why doesn't the MSS working?
    Anyone who have an idéa?

  • Infotype 105 usage in Concurrent Employment environments

    Hi, experts -
    The University of Cincinnati uses concurrent employment, and we are currently experiencing problems with ESS when an employee switches primary assignments. After the infotype 712 update, the employee is unable to log in to ESS. When we move the IT105, subtype 0001, record from his old pernr to the new pernr (by delimiting the previous record and creating a new one with a begin date equal to the IT712 begin date, the employee is able to log in to ESS again.
    Have others encountered similar problems with ESS for CE employees? If so, how did you get past this? I know I can add logic to the ZXPADU02 back-end user exit to update IT105 each time IT712 changes, but I was wondering if there was a better approach.
    Has anyone enabled the HCM_ESS_CE business function? Will this business function resolve the issue we're having, or does it simply let the user choose which personnel assingment he would like to maintain?
    What about configuring infotype 105 as a shared infotype? Will this allow a person's multiple personnel assignments to have the same user ID assigned to it (just like sharing IT 2 allows all pernrs to have the same Social Security Number)?

    As discussed in CSS, non-CE ESS does not consider any changes made to 0712
    nor will non-CE ESS effectively handle any CE scenarios
    That said there may be someone out-there who knows how to adapt ESS to your scenario
    However you can see from Sid's post that the SAP recommend solution is to implement EHP3 and CE business function if you want CE employees in ESS

    Also we need to patch our stack to the latest SP. Latest SP available in market is SP11 as we prefer n-1 we planned to go for SP10, but in MOPZ while selecting the target it gives option only for SP11 in the drop down. Any reason for it ?
    As you could see our SAP-HR, EA-HR LSOFE are still in 600 release. If we select the target package in MOPZ to the latest will it upgrade the SAP_HR 600, EA-HR 600& LSOFE 600 components to SAP-HR 604, EA-HR 606, LSOFE 606 ?
    If I had to install HR-Renewal 1.0 I would need EA-HR 607 and LSOFE 607, so can that be included in the same stack ?

    I'm a functional newbie to ESS/MSS and would like to know how technical/functional both the packages are in terms of configuration. I understand that though ESS, employees manage their personal data and through MSS, managers can have better control over their deptt. I'm a purely functional guy so my basic question is what all is there to be configured in terms on PA/OM/BM/ECM and payroll? Somebody told me that its more of java scripting work than configuration.     Basically all standard HCM configurations should be maintained. The Portal only reflects the the content of HCM implementation.
    After installation and connection of environments (ECC and EP) you need the follows stepsÇ
    - SSO configurated (Single Sign On) to the employee able to connect at ECC (SAP) from a Portal Interface.
    - The infotype 0105 (subty 0001) have loaded with the respective users of employes (this users will be used to employe realize the logon at system)
    - All relations at OM configurated (including the manager relations, same B012 etc)
    Only after this steps you start the specific configuration at IMG.

    with ERP 6.0 you need a EP Core Portal for BI Java. An other EP Core Portal for HCM ECC/MSS. The iViews from this portal you integrate in the main portal via federated portal. But in this scenario i need to much portals and have a lot of maintenance costs (administration overhead for evry portal). For a small Customer i will build one Portal for all. It is possible e.g. to use the BI Portal with ESS/MSS and as full portal?

    So you would like one BI installation with both the ABAP and the Java-stack with the full BI-functionallity and additionally the XSS-component and set it up to work against the ECC ABAP-only system ?
    I think the scenario would actually work, but:
    1) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your BI-system and not the ECC-system.
    Is it possible to run the old XSS-components in the new java-stack ?
    2) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your ECC-system and not the BI-system.
    What if the new version of the XSS-component demands certain java-components which the BI-system do not have.
    So my recommendation is still to run the java-stack on both systems.
    ECC with the XSS-java-components and BI with the Bi-java-components.
    This way you do not lock yourself into a corner and each system can be upgrade independent of the other.

  • Backend R/3 connectivity for ESS MSS from portal

    We are currently in development cycle for ESS/MSS based on portal EP 6.0 SP16 and ERP 2004 in backend. We are trying to find out how the ESS/MSS business package on portal works with backend ESS functionality in ERP 2004. It is more of a connectivity question. We want to know if we expose our portal to internet so that users can login to ESS/MSS from internet, do we need to put backend ERP (ECC 5.0) system also in DMZ? Do we need to open ports between portal and R/3 so that ESS/MSS can work? Or the communication happens using JCO connections and we need not to expose R/3 system.
    Also one more specific question? If someone knows how ESS/MSS talks to backend system. At SAP application layer level or database level? I am asking this question to check if I need to open a port to talk to database or I can very well keep 2-3 SAP application server in DMZ and work.

    You need to look at the specific business package. For example, ESS for mySAP ERP 2004 says that the technology is Java / Web dynpro, which says that the Java engine uses RFCc to get the data from the backend.
    Othe businesss packages may use ITS, which then needs another connection from the user to the ITS server.

  • Creating NWDI track for ESS/MSS

    I am trying to implement ESS/MSS (600 SP7). For customization I need to import the package on the track in CMS. Import of JEE, JTECHS, BUILDT and PCUIG were successful. When i tried importing ESS and MSS, import is failing. Check-In of both the components are successful but while importing the component under Development tab, its failing. Import of MSS in DTR is successful but CMS is failing.

    Is there anything i can do to resolve the issue in JDBC etc? Whats this AFAIK?

  • Function modules or BAPIs for ESS MSS

    Hi Experts,
    I am new to HR (ESS/MSS & who's who). I am looking for standard BAPI's and Function Modules that would give me information about an employee's upper level's and lower levels (reporting).
    My requirement is to build an Webdynpro Application with taking employee id as user input and display his uplevel's and downlevel's. Also, hyperlink on employee should help me to further navigate to the corresponding employee's information.
    Note: I tried to search this forum, but unable to narrow down the required business functions that i require.

  • Issue while accessing two web-dynpro application, ESS/MSS and Payroll

    We are facing one Critical Server Issue in our systems. Following is the scenerio:-
    Our Portal system was having one Application known as German Payroll application. Before last two week one more application of ESS/MSS i.e. Time Management has been deployed to our system.
    Now the user has two application with two different roles in the portal.
    When user try to navigate from Time Management Application to German Payroll application or German Payroll Application to Time Management Application  then they are facing Critical Server Error issue.
    But once the user try to refresh using CTRL+F5 then the problem got resolved.

    After more analyzing the situation we found that one web dynrpo component i.e. pcui_gp~xssutils is common to both the application and it is configured to standard JCO i.e.
    SAP_R3_HumanResources
    SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
    SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics
    SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData
    My thinking is that this component is giving us the problem.
    Please provide your comments and solution to rectify this issue.

    Hi
    First try a very simple application with nothing in it just one text saying Hello World
    Run it and see what happens.
    Also check if your url uses FQDN name. something like https:
    company.name.co:50000\.......
    If you do not use the FQDN it will always show a script error on the bottom and some functions will not work e.g
    dropdowns.

    I'm having the problem that: in our customer's company,  their employee can be assigned to more than one positions in the different companies.
    It means the EE just has one Personnel number, but they have personnel assignments.
    And I found the solution for this case is using "The concurrent employment" of SAP_HR. But I still have some questions about this function:
    1. Is it possible to use it in the other country (not in US or CAN)?
    2. Could you provide me some guide about how to configure it? There is not too much guide material about it in the internet. I already active the CE by IMG, but don't know what to do next.
    Any suggestion or advice will be appreciated,
