Hi Vasu,
As Functional Consultants, we make the customizing in two ways:
- General settings: to define the links to ESS-MSS apps from homepage and its behaviour
- Specific settings: to define the behaviour of ESS-MSS applications, i mean define valid subtypes for infotypes from Personal Information, the process for leave time request, the salary statement form to display, who's who fields and grouping, etc...
Also, depending on the size, requirements and technical scope of your project, you may do some tasks as a Portal Consultant, i mean define Roles and User Groups, look & feel basical activities & any other Portal functional config.
Usually in a middle or big-size project there is an expert Portal Consultant in the team who make this job (and also technical tasks). But again, that depends on your project.

Help about ESS/MSS - Deploy error and landscape question

Hi.
I read a lot of post about this topic, but I continue something confuse about them.
I want to configure ESS and MSS.
My landscape is:
- J2EE 7.0 with Portal 7.0 (2004s) in a server A.
- ECC 5.0 ( with HR component SP05) in a server B.
Server B, has only stack Abap.
Server A is the latest version of Netweaver today. (stack j2ee and stack abap, BI, XI, Portal, etc)
I download and deploy in server A (J2EE 7.0), this components:
- BP ESS for erp2004
- BP MSS for erp2004
When I deploy the ESS BP, the deployment break raising this kind of error with the most of components, for example:

Obviously, for this reason the most of iviews raise errors. A few of these works ok.
I assign role, and others configuration steps, this part I thinks that is OK
I configured the Jco, the role in Portal, the profile in ERP for ESS, etc.
My principal question is:
Can I use Portal 7.0 against ECC 5.0 in order tu use ESS/MSS based on webdynpro, without stack j2ee in ECC server (B) ?
Is necesary install J2ee stack in my server B ? or not?
Where I need to deploy the XSS 500 components ? in the J2EE 7.0 ?
Why when I deploy have this problem and the most of components cant deploy it?
For my landscape, which is the recommended setup ?

There won't be any issue. Go for ERP 2005

SAP Portal Custom Themes to change ESS/MSS UI Look and feel , possible ?

I have a requirement where the look and feel of the UI controls of the ESS/MSS applications have to be different - Jazzy
I know XSS homepage framework is for the customisation of Areas, Sub Areas. What I am more interested is only the look and feel UI of ESS/MSS applications.
If I change the standard theme of portal using Theme Editor and create a new custom theme with different back ground colors, fonts, sizes for all the UI controls,.Will the customised Theme apply on the standard ESS / MSS screens ? Also my doubt is we are using EHP3 and I am not sure how many are Webdynpro java based or webdynpro Abap based.
Will the theme apply to both WDA and WDJ application UI controls?
Any inputs in this regard will be of great help. thanks in advance.

Business Packages for ESS/MSS, HR Renewal and HR Administrator

Hi Experts,
Iam a basis consultant and had ew queries on the Business packages to be installed on our NW Portal system.
Currently we are on
Backend system          :           EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0
SAP Portal                    :           SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SR1
SAP_HR              600       0064
EA-HR                600       0064
For ESS MSS (both Generic & WDA),
1) Do we need to deploy EA-HR_MSS add-on on our backend ECC ? If yes, what would be the version ?
2) Based on the system we have, What are all Portal business packages (list) should we deploy into Portal? and sequence to follow?
we have different verions of (BP ERP05 ESS, BP ERP05 COMMON PARTS & BP ERP05 MSS ), which version has to be deployed ?
do I need mss add-on Portal business pack also??
3) Need to deploy HR Renewal and HR Administrator Business packages as well, so could you please advice what version needs to be installed ? Unable to find HR Renewal as a Business Package in the market place.
4) Any post-installation activity after importing the business packgages in portal ?

Also we need to patch our stack to the latest SP. Latest SP available in market is SP11 as we prefer n-1 we planned to go for SP10, but in MOPZ while selecting the target it gives option only for SP11 in the drop down. Any reason for it ?
As you could see our SAP-HR, EA-HR LSOFE are still in 600 release. If we select the target package in MOPZ to the latest will it upgrade the SAP_HR 600, EA-HR 600& LSOFE 600 components to SAP-HR 604, EA-HR 606, LSOFE 606 ?
If I had to install HR-Renewal 1.0 I would need EA-HR 607 and LSOFE 607, so can that be included in the same stack ?
Please advice.

Job salary form in ESS/MSS portal help needed

We are facing some issues with the Job Salary Change form and need some help on these.
The following are the issues.
The JS form should route for the approval to the approver as on Effective Date provided on the form.
The Workflow Rules were changed accordingly to fetch the Effective date from the form and fetch the approver based on the date. But the form is not following the approver as on the Effective Date, but it is going to the approver as on SY-DATUM.The adobe form is configured in HRASR_DT transaction and is using the standard service SAP_PA.The Effective date from the form is not flowing correctly from the form to the workflow.Hence the workflow chooses the SY_DATUM as default date.

Not sure what a KRA, but it looks like appraisal in the second word, so that would be phap_admin, F8 to get the result list, and then in the menu somewhere is unlock appraisal documents.

ESS/MSS for International Country grouping

Hi all,
Scenario: We are implementing Portal ESS/MSS on ECC6 and have loaded the Best Practices with the below components.
SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 SP12 with the following additional software components
     BP ERP05 Common Parts 1.0 SP08 (BP_ERP5COM)
     BP ERP05 ESS 1.0 SP08 (BP_ERP5ESS))
     BP ERP05 MSS 1.0 SP08 (BP_ERP5MSS)
     SAP ESS 600 SP08 (SAP_ESS)
     SAP MSS 600 SP08 (SAP_MSS)
     SAP PCUI_GP 600 SP08 (SAPPCUI_GP)
Now, the ESS and MSS is to be implemented for a Country Grouping 99 - International and not any specific country.
Problem: The iViews are not loading for International, when the R/3 config setting is for 99. While it seems to be calling the right iViews for 10 - USA or 12 - Belgium.
Can you please assist on how to link up the Users to the roles and correct iViews.

Steps in brief:
0. Once you have implemented the Busin. Packages from SAP you will get all the Portal Content which is country specific. This is the same content being called from R/3 using country specific resources.
1. Go to R/3 -> Pers Admin -> ESS -> General Settings -> Home Page for SS -> Services -> Define Country Srvcs.
Go into Define Country specific srvcs and you will see the view V_T7XSSSERSRVCG
2. This table contains all the country specific implementations offerred by SAP. You can use some of these and copy/create for CGrpng 99 as below. This should be based on what services you want to use on ESS.

3. Also make sure your CGrpng in Pers Area/ PSA is set to 99, basically Employee shold belong to 99.

To find Enterprise portal you need to ask your Basis team regarding the URL link which will be published by them with below format
<Hostname>.<Domainname>.<Extension>:Port#/irj/portal and also check your EP system landscape whether your are running in 2 tier(Dev & Prd) or 3 tier architechture (DEV,QAS,PRD) so that you can do the ESS/MSS config & testing accordingly. And also make sure that you deploy the following
Enterprise Extension:
EA-HR
