ESS/MSS Questionnaire for blueprint

We are getting ready to start the blueprint phase of our project. I have questionnaires for the other HR modules, but am looking for an ESS/MSS questionnaire. If anyone has some sample questions for ESS/MSS, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.

There should be specific country services for ESS netherlands - You should be able to see the following in the Homepage Framework customizing table of the back-end ECC system -->

The actual iviews and WD applications should be visible in the Portal PCD under the ESS role end user content or in J2EE WD content administrator under essnlxxx
If they are not available it could be you are missing essential ESS software components or have a different technology platform and older ESS version or too low an SP stack
MSS is general functionality which should be available in Dutch - this may be BP dependant therefore please check release notes or any download information for the software component for more details

Training and Event Managaement in ESS/MSS Portal for ERP2004 version

Hi SDNs,
I am working for ESS/MSS for ERP2004 system to NW2004s system.Afer importing the business packages to portal, I got only the following roles for ESS and MSS.
Employee Self-Service:
Employee Search | Working Time | Benefits and Payment | Personal Information | Career and Job | Purchasing | Work Environment | Travel and Expenses | Life and Work Events
MSS: MyStaff:
Overview | Attendance | Personnel Change Request | Recruiting | Reporting | Headcount
MyBudget:
Overview | Monitors and Reports | Equipment | Planning
According to the Worksets i got it, i couldn't find, Training and Development activity, Performance Mangement in both ESS and MSS.
How do I achieve this?
We also have a requirement of OH & S to be integrated to ESS.
Please suggest me to integrate this activities.
Your help will be appreciated.

Hi,
Training and Development, Performance Management are not available in the latest versions of ESS and MSS.
You may have to use the old Business Packages to incorporate this, the only difference would be that those pages would be BSPs.

ESS / MSS Implementation for ECC 5.0 (ERP2004)

Hello,
We are preparing to implement ESS/MSS for ERP2004. We are using EP6.0 SP9. The notes for both ESS and MSS business packages refer to OSS Note 761266 regarding the versioning of XSS components. Are the patches for the XSS components supposed to be deployed to the portal environment, the ERP2004 environment, or both? The three patches mentioned are:
PCUI_GP05_1.sca
ESS05_1.sca
MSS05_1.sca
Should these be installed in the portal, ERP2004, or both?

Since the patches are stored under the ERP2004folder in the support packages area of Service.SAP.com, I assumed they would be applied to the ERP environment, but I want to confirm this.

Thanks for the clarification James. I thought the patches should be applied to WebAS for the ERP2004 environment, but the OSS note is vague about that fact.
Chuckie, We are implementing ESS version 60.2. ECC 5.0 refers to Enterprise Central Component 5.0, which is how SAP refers to the Core R/3 product in the ERP2004 suite.

ESS/MSS version for R/3 4.7

Hi Experts,
I am onto my first implementation for ESS/MSS . Client is having R/3 as 4.70 , EP 7.0 and BW 3.5 configuration. Can you please advice me what BP(release) for ESS/MSS needs to be installed for this? Few places I found that R/3 4.70 supports only ITS versions of ESS and MSS. Is there any location where I can find matirx describing the relation between R/3 releases and supported ESS/MSS releases?

My Client is implementing all the following modules: OM; PA; Time; Payroll; Comepnsation Mgmt.; Training & Event Mgmt; Personnel Development; Recruitment.
Now they want to go for ESS & MSS also. I have rough idea of ESS & MSS functionalities but not aware what all functionalities it give with respect to these modules.

ESS/MSS personlization for WD-ABAP iView

Hi All,
This is regarding personalization for WD-ABAP iView.
1. Logged into portal using content admin role and made necessary personalization on development system.
2. In order to move these changes to quality, I followed the below mentioned steps as found in one of the forums:
For any WD-ABAP Personalization transport, you need to follow these steps:
a. Via content admin preview and edit the iView to your desires. Make sure you do this through
content admin only or the changes will be user specific and those cannot be transported.
b. Go to transaction SICF and follow the path to make sure this service is active.
sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/wd_analyze_config_user
c. Launch the service and you'll see a table listing the Webdynpro ABAP changes. You'll only
be able to transport the user scope "All"
3. I clicked on the transport button and this created a request on my development client with the following objects added: WDY_CONF_USER, WDY_CONF_USERT, WDY_CONF_USERT2
4. When I try to transport this to Q, it gives me an error mesage saying "you cannot transport client-specific objects".
Kindly advise the way to transport this personalization further in the landscape.

As u have mentioned that u are doing iview personaliztion in portal and u want to transport that customized ivew or for that matter any portal content than i think u can do it by navigating to:
sys admin>transport>transport pakges-->export
create a transport pakge -->add ur contents which are to b transported --> download the epa file to ur local desktop.
Now log into Q (or target sys) navigate to sys admin>transport>transport pakges-->import
Make sure import gives Zero error.
Correct me if u r not looking in for this kind of transport procedures.

Please check the client settings CHANGES AND TRANSPORTS FOR CLIENT SPECIFIC OBJECTS is set to changes w/o automatic recording, no transport allowed in SCC4.

Which EHP need for SAP ESS MSS

I am web dynpro ABAP Consultant. We are going to implement SAP ESS MSS portal for an HR project. Project requires lot of adobe interactive forms and web dynpro ABAP stuff. Currently we have EHP.0 . I dont know whether EHP.0 is enough or i have to go for higher verisons like (EHP 3..4..5) Please let u know which EHP verison have to implement.

You should install EHP5 which was released last Thursday as there have been major changes in ESS/MSS and it is delivered in WDA vs the earlier releases which was WDJ.

ESS/MSS Installation to R/3 4.7 Enterprise

Goodday Guru's,
I've just received a requirement to install and configure ESS/MSS. Backend system is on R/3 4.7 and Portal is on EP 6.0. I have downloaded ESS 50.4 and MSS 60.1_19 for this requirement. There would not be any development work, only out of the box standard ESS/MSS configuration. I believe that most of you out htere have succesfully implemented such a requirement. Would you mind sharing your experience with me? Any step-by-step guide would be very appreciated.
P.S:- Just a quick check. For this requirement, do i need to download ESS/MSS/PCUI for WebDynpro component? I know that it is needed for ERP2004 (ECC 5.0).

the following is procedure that u need.
if u have all DVD/CD for installation than go by following.
if ur os is win2000 -- SP4 needed or use WIN2003 server
install J2SDK 1.4.2_08 or _09 don't use above.
set JAVA_HOME variable in win2000 enviorenment variable.
set path c:\j2sdk1.4.2_08\bin;
install oracle with no database (do not create any databse during oracle installation, look oracle installation documentation)
apply oracle patch.
set ORACLE_HOME under win2000 enviorenment variable.
set ORACLE_SID under win2000 enviorenment variable.
where sid is ur sap system id i.e EPD
install j2ee server.
install portal.
install CM if u want.
install ITS 6.20 on same system or Other win2000/2003 system (IIS required. look installation document)
create system i.e R3,ITS in portal according to document that i send,
import Buisness package for ESS/MSS into portal,
assign the ESS/MSS role to user in portal.
By default ther is no role for ESS with standard BP's create ur own role and Add tha workset using delta link,
u can find the import content under migrated content-> EP 5.0
