ESS & MSS Role
Hi Experts
How to map ESS & MSS roles to ECC 6.0 Roles in EP.
Say for example in ECC 6.0 we have a user A and User B.
User A have some addtional attributes and User B does not have it
How to map this two users in EP.
Thanks
Daya.

Hi Daya,
You will have to do the user mapping,
It can be done in two ways,
1. Go to user administration and once you enter user A, you will have an option of "User mapping".
2. When you are logged onto the portal, click, personalize option and choose "User Mapping".
User mapping is basically done when the portal users and ECC users are different.
Let me know if you need any further clarification on the same.

how can i implement in portal...
I am New From Portal consultant so kindly please help me its very much helpful.
Regards,
Rafi Shaikinbox you meant UWL ie universal worklist
first note that SAP provides standard roles and you can copy it to z role and modify it accordingly and remove the roles
as per required/
For ESS, the standard composite role is SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP. You can make a Z copy of this role and customize it per your needs.
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/a4/93554056bd1f24e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
There is no standard role provided for MSS applications. You will need to build one as per your needs.
See SAP Note 844639 for more details.

SeraHi Sera,
To assign Personnel number in R/3 to your portal user:
1) Your portal user is mapped to your R/3 user.
2) Login in R/3 system using your user and password,
3) Goto PA30 and enter pernr you want to assign to your user,
4) Create a record for infotype 105 and subtype 0001 and enter your user name there.
5) save the changes.
This assigned pernr to your user will be ESS / MSS user when you log in to portal.
Hope this helps !!

Automation of assignment of ESS & MSS roles
We are implementing ESS and MSS as part of our global HR implementation. What i am thinking of is to look for methods to automate the assignment of ESS role once the HR master record is created for an employee and MSS role once the chief relationship is established for the corresponding org unit.
Does anyone out in the field had done anything similar? If so,could you please share your experiences/lessons learned etc??
Thanks
Sarada GantiYou have not mentioned the method of role assignment, ie direct/indirect so I assume you are using both.
You can automate the role provisioning without any problems for ess roles directly assigned to the ess user in SU01 - this is because the steps involved are easier to script.
Problems arise when automating the role provisioning for mss users that are indirectly assigned to their mss role through the position. The steps for administering indirect role assignments are not so straight forward and involve the running of RHRPROFL0 which needs to be maintained with key parameters to link the mss role to the position that the new manager is assigned to.
In the end we decided not to use indirect assignments because of this reason. The various scenarios was too difficult to script for the provisioning tool Tivoli (ITIM)
Hope this helps.

ESS/MSS EHP5 role customization issue
Hi,
We have implemented EHP5 roles on Enterprise Portal 7.0, other version details are: EHP6 and SP9.
Following issues are coming:
1. Our portal is having customized theme. However, the lpd_cust ESS/MSS roles created when rendered Portal is taking Standard blue theme, how can we get our custom theme when lpd_cust roles are launched on Portal.
2. The link text is getting vertically splitted in service map area. Eg. If we have "User Manual" as link text of a application created under lpd_cust folder ESS->User Manual, the text is getting splitted. How can we adjust size of this text?
Please check attachment for both issues.
Looking forward for help.
Regards,
Ashvini.Hello Luke,
Yes, I mean talent management. The appraisal forms are in the flexible template in SAP Portal.
Thanks in advance for your help

ESS/MSS Installation to R/3 4.7 Enterprise
Goodday Guru's,
I've just received a requirement to install and configure ESS/MSS. Backend system is on R/3 4.7 and Portal is on EP 6.0. I have downloaded ESS 50.4 and MSS 60.1_19 for this requirement. There would not be any development work, only out of the box standard ESS/MSS configuration. I believe that most of you out htere have succesfully implemented such a requirement. Would you mind sharing your experience with me? Any step-by-step guide would be very appreciated.
P.S:- Just a quick check. For this requirement, do i need to download ESS/MSS/PCUI for WebDynpro component? I know that it is needed for ERP2004 (ECC 5.0).
Regards,
JohanHi Johan

I have specific authorizations in the backend too
The overview page of both ESS & MSS are opening, area page is opening properly. this error is displaying only when i click on the services in the area page.
pls tell me how to access these services without this error???
Thanks in advance,
vvThanks to both of you for your quick replies.
The user ID in both the portal and backed are same and the same user is existing in the infotype 0105. with start date 1.11.2007 and end date as 31.12.9999
the user ID in portal created on 06.11.2007
when i checked the start date in the backend, it was not mentioned.
So i changed both the backend start date and infotype 0105 date to 09.04.2008 and end date as 31.12.2008.
still i am facing same problem. any help pls

Federated Portal - ESS/MSS remote content copy / remote delta link mode
Hello,
We have established an Federated Portal Network between two Enterprise Portal systems.
The Consumer System is an Netweaver Enterprise Portal, the Producer also an Enterprise Portal installation + XSS.
We use remote role assignment and remote delta link functionality between this two systems.
We have an request to enable BI JAVA Iviews on the consumer and as transitive content sharing is not provided, we would like to copy the ESS/MSS roles as remote content copy/remote delta links from the producer XSS system to the consumer system.
When we try to copy the ESS or MSS roles the copy process end with the following error message :
"Due to an unexpected error the action will be canceled"
The remote content copy/remote delta link usage mode is working correct on other roles
Is this a restiction that ESS/MSS roles can not be used in remote delta link mode ?
Is there an workaround for such usage type ?
Thank you
Best Regards

ESS/MSS on SAP Portal Blank screen instead of IViews.
Hi,
ESS/MSS roles are visiable on portal but when I assigned it to my own user I could not see the iViews we are getting blank screen please screen.
Please help us.hi,
you need to create user in the backend system and you need to map user in backend using SSO by either logon tickets or User mapping.
if you have not created user then to create user in backend follow following steps:
Please follow this steps to setup ESS/MSS in Portal.
Configuration Settings for ESS
Create Infotype 0105 for all Employees
Use
To link a user in the portal to the employee in the backend, the employee master records must be extended. The portal user information is stored in the backend in the communication infotype 0105, subtypes 0001 (System User Name SAP System (SY-UNAME)) and 0010 (E-Mail).
Prerequisites
u2022 The users MANAGER and EMPLOYEE are mapped to the relevant portal users, ideally by SSO, so that they have the same name.
u2022 You must have created personnel numbers in the SAP system for the relevant employees.
u2022 The following roles are assigned to your ERP user which should be mapped to the employees: SAP_EMPLOYEE, SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP, and SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP05. The latter is a composite role for all country specific functions. You can select only the specific country role for your user and delete the other roles.
Procedure
1. Choose the following:
SAP Easy Access Menu Human Resources u2192 Personnel Management u2192 Administration u2192 HR Master Data u2192 Maintain
Transaction PA30
2. Enter your employeeu2019s personnel number
3. In the direct selection section, enter infotype 0105 and choose the Create button.
4. In the subtypes for infotype u201CCommunicationu201D dialog box, select 0001 and then Enter.
5. In the field ID/Number, enter the ID used to log in to the portal
6. Save your entry.
7. Return to the Maintain HR Master Data screen.
8. Keep the infotype 0105 in the infotype field and choose Create.
9. In the subtypes for infotype u201CCommunicationu201D dialog box, select 0010 and then Enter.
10. In the ID/Number field, enter the email address and save your entries
11. Repeat steps 2-10 for employee 91000067. ID/Number MANAGER.
also Jco connection needs to be configured..

What is the role of an ABAPer in ESS/MSS applications???
Hi all,
I am new to this area and if someone can explain the role of ABAPer in ESS/MSS implementation that would be helpful to me, also mail any documents pertaining to these concepts to mail id :
Your help will be rewarded.
Regards
JerryHi,
The Role of the ABAP er in ESS/MSS would depends on the type of application we are developing
Basically the responsibilities would be to develop
The Back end coding like creating classes , methods, and Transfering data from objects to XSLT/XML
If we are using BSP pages for the portal then the central class will be assigned as controller class and the related coding will be done in the methods of the class.
Go through the link below for the more info
