ESS screen Fields changes - screen personalization

Hello All,
I have come across a problem and I am wondering some one could assist me out with.
On reading from the our SDN forum , it was proposed solution that if i want to change the same of some field from portal i should could go to portal content + select the I-view+ right click+CTRL and then from fields name I can change the name or hide the name.
I have hide some fields and it is sucessfully hidden for all users of ESS but unfortunatly fields for which I have changed their name they are not shown to all the users . insted the only user to which changed name is shown is the our functional consultant users where as all employee users can view the fields with same old name.
I would appreacite if some one could guide me on it ......

Hello Waqas,
Let say, you would like to do personalization for india address scenario.
Please make sure that you do personalization at role level.
Logon with super admin role.
Content admin-> portal content->... ->employee self service > roles->xx ess role->open.
Open persinfo india address scenario and then preview it.
Select the field you would like to personalize.
Now Press control + right click.
Set as invisible Yes and set it as final.
Apply and ok.
Now for all ess users assigned with role "xx ess role" your personalization will work.

Yes you can achieve through Personalization, and then do not authorize end used for changing the fields.

This is for working time -> leave request screen
In field selection there is one field 'code for description of illness'. I have done required config for getting this field on ESS Screen. This field already has standard search help. So I m able to view the values of this field on ESS screen .
So I thought to try assigning custom search help to this CUSTOMER0 field. Is there any method in BADI PT_ABS_REQ through which I can achieve the same. Please help.

Hello Experts,
I am attempting to add a single field - Religious Denomination (KONFE) to the Personal Data ESS screen for Great Britain. It is included in the standard screen for maintaining Personal Data in PA30 but for some reason not on the ESS screen.
Is there any way to add this field to the ESS screen without having to modify the code of the ESS screen in the NWDI?

You can check via V_T588MFPROPC, but not sure this will show as it is not in structure

ESS - Screen control

Hi All:
I am configuring view V_t88m_ESS, to hide some if the fields in IT0002 in ESS.
For function group EHU5 (for US) I have entered the standard screen 0200 and made the appropriate settings. ( SSN, Date of Birth, etc. output or display only).
But when I log into ESS the screen are still in Edit mode.
Has any one encountered this before ?

Hi Rachel,
V_T588M_ESS was used in the old ITS scenario for ESS - it doesn't change the screen fields in ECC WD Java ESS.
And even when it was used in the ITS version it was not globally supported - you had to add some code in for most country specific ESS screens.

ESS screens in MYSAPERP

Is there a document or a presentation that is available that shows the ESS screens implemented in MYSAPERP and SAP Netwaeaver 04 ( with integrated ITS).
We are currently in 4.6c and planning on an upgrade. We would like gain an understnading of the training and change impacts...
Apparently there is a presentation available.. I could not find it in service market place..

ESS in MYSAPERP is built on java/webdynpro based iviews which use JCA via JCO. ITS is there but i don't think it is being used in the business package developed for MYSAPERP.

How to remove the "table control" icon in ITS based ESS screen

Hi All,
I have upgraded my external ITS 620 to patch level 28. Earlier we were on patch 04.
Since then I am seeing the table control in my ESS screens (ITS Based),
In some thread i got to know that the table control is totally redefined / modified from patch 22 of ITS.
Is it possible that we can remove / hide the table control from the screens.
I dont want to let the users access the "Table Settings" screen at all....can u plz tell me how to do it

we could not remove the table control...it seems like we can not remove it as the table control also appears in the r3 screens also..

Good luck with that. I have never seen any "list of all countries" before like you are wanting. This will typically be part of your requirements gathering and blueprinting tasks.
Just one question....what is your "global template" for implementation and what is your scope for localization? That will dictate much of your work.

Baffled with ESS Screen Display in EP 6.0

Hi,
I'm hoping someone could tell me why this is happening. We have EP 6.0 SP 12 installed and we were testing the functionalities. When we come to viewing the ESS in the Portal, almost all of the screen shown contains technical names e.g. P0001-ENAME, etc..
It doesn't display proper ESS screens that I've seen before; nicely formatted with colors and proper buttons.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Which version of ESS are you using and what is the backend system (ECC, R3) and can you provide a link to a screenshot?
If your version is ITS based, which Im guessing it might be as it doesnt sound like WebDynpro ESS, then you could always try regenerating the ITS style sheet:

Where can I find the the list of transactions for ESS screens?

I want to test an ESS functionality in the SAP GUI. Where can I find the transactions for these screens? Is there such a table where these tcodes are stored?
I believe you can test the ESS screens through inputting the tcode in SE93.

What version backend are you on? For the most part, you can look at it like this....
For ITS based services....each ITS service will be tied to a transaction. You can find this by looking in the "service" file for the interent service (ie. double click on the top folder shown for the service and it will show you the service parameters in the rigth hand content area in t-code SE80). Most (but not all) can be found that way. Also, if you are on ECC5 or ECC6, you can look in t-code SICF at the individual services to find the parameters there as well (a little more navigation required).
For Java Webdynpro and ABAP Webdynpro ESS services, however, you will not really have a transaction so to speak. They communicte primarily through classes and BAPIs. Nothing there for you to find in SE93.

EEWB Extension deletion " Field changes can require table conversion"

Wihile iam trying to delete extensions in EEWB (created in a transaction ) it is giving me the below error

Message no. OXT_MISC328
Diagnosis
Not all databases permit deletion of fields in existing tables. Deletion may be required when making changes. In this case, the table must be converted, and then it has the status Partially active. The extension is otherwise flagged as having errors.
Procedure
Take the tables that are to be converted from the log. Use the database utility to make the conversion. Conversion may require a lot of time and resources. Then repeat the transaction in the Easy Enhancement that led to this message.
The Request which contains the extension has already been transported can any help me out in this

Hi Kishore,
Go to Database Utility (SE14) --> select the table names from you log and (in next screen) press button Activate & Adjust database and check that the Status becomes Active. Depending on the size of table , might take some minutes to activate this table.

Value of the input field changing automatically on click of enter

I was trying to write a simple report that has a single input field with a f4 help for a directory browser attached. the input field can only be filled using the f4 help ( achieved through function module DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE) . The problem is after the input field is populatd if i click on enter or press f8 the text in the input field changes automatically. Please can anyone find the reason for this behaviour and provide a solution .Thanks in advance.report code attached.

Change the declaration & the problem should be solved:

Report needed: Customer master TAXKD field changes

We are looking to track changes made to TAXKD (tax code) in customer master.   Is there any report we could generate weekly that would detail changes made to the field.
Also, we'd like what change was made. (i.e. customer number, date, field changed from 0 to 2)

Those changes will be recorded in the CDHDR and CDPOS tables with your field name based on the dates..
and also with the Old value and the New value
from the CDPOS

Custom field in Vendor Master - track field changes

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to enhance vendor master (XK01) by adding custom fields. I did this, but now the customer needs to track changes made to this field. He expects to see the changes made to this custom field using menu path 'Environment -> Field Changes' from vendor master transactions (XK01, XK02, XK03). I have enabled the track changes in the data element, so that field changes can be tracked in CDPOS, but that is not enough. Please help to find solution. Thanks.

Hi Brad,
I added the new fields to vendor master using the SPRO option:
'Prepare Modification-Free enhancement of Vendor Master Record' in the following path:
Logistics-General -> Business Partner -> Vendors -> Control -> Adoption of customer's own master data fields. This created a button on vendor master, and my field is in a pop up box which is generated on click of this button.
This field is stored in LFM2 table.
I have enabled the change flag in the data element of the custom field, and it is showning the field changes in CDPOS table.
But the problem I face is how I can avoid going to the CDPOS table and instead use the menu option :
'Environment -> Field Changes'

Why are the fonts in the fillable fields changing in reader?

Hello, I created a fillable pdf in acrobat. When I open the pdf in reader on my iPad the fonts in the fillable fields change. It is throwing off the fields and things don't line up correctly. I can't figure out how to correct the problem or why it's happening in the first place. Also, the fields behave differently in preview on my Mac. The fonts are correct but the placement is off. Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

Solved it! I went back into acrobat and locked the appearance of all my text fields. Everything now appears as it should in reader. Still have no idea why I needed to do that?
