ESS Time recording iview: no Rec order can be assigned

Hi,
I've set up ESS in a 7.0 Portal (SP9). In the Recording Times iview the following error occurs: When I enter times for a specific Rec. Order this Rec. order is not taken over in the Review screen (2nd step in the guided procedure). Finally the entered times are not assigned to any Rec. Order and cannot be settled in FI afterwards. It works in the backend sytem, though the error must be in the portal.
Any help is appreciated,

Hi Experts
Need some urgent guidance. We are using punch cards to record timing. I understand that time recording machine will upload the records in Time event IT 2011.
On the other hand we have requirement where the real time should be there in CATS for employees so that PS can use for project planning and posting.
Presently we have time admin those manually key in time recording data in Cats but going forward we use time cards to record time.
How we can go ahead where we can use time machine to record also plus it uploads the time entries in cats.

Time recorded from the external systems can be obtained as a text file and will be uploaded to CATS using a customized program designed by ABAPers.

Time Recording in ESS is tied to CATS?

Hi, I am new to ESS//MSS. I am HCM consultant, like to know more on ESS side. I heard Time Recoding is linked to CATS data entry profiles. Is this only way we can enable time recording using ESS? In other words all the web-dynpro's provided in ess package is tied to CATS? If company is using ESS that means they are using CATS in back end?

Sorry to reiterate, I was asking in ESS, is iviews are tied to CATS? in other words if company is implementing ESS, do they need to first setup CATS? Some thing is confusing CATS is used for data transfer and for having approval workflow.
From the process point, Data can be loaded from Time Recording systems into individual info types (IT2001, 2002..) OR can be pushed to CATS and then transferred into info types. My question, Is Time recoding using ESS portal is tied to CATS or can be pushed to individual info types with out CATS? vanilla instance (out of the box)

How can we integrate CATS & PPM and to retrieve CATS time recording data in PPM ?

Dear experts,
Following the previous question of Ruxandra Petrina called "record times with CATS", I am facing an issue with the report DPR_CATS_CPR_TRANSF : it shows nothing despite I activated PPM accounting integration.
There are the steps I followed, I really don't understand what is missing. In PPM I can transfer and assign my projects to WBS elements automatically or manually.
1. We allowed time confirmation for projects
2. We replicated personal number as business partners
3. We activated worklists and project assignments @ data entry profiles
4. We set up ALE & RFC connections
5. We activated the integration scenarios on WBS element : automatic and manual creation of WBS element assigned to PPM elements. Then we set up data profiles for time recording in cat2.
6. We enter times, we released it (approval is not required) + saving
7; We launch the program in SE38 of both ERP or SOLMAN systems : NOTHING appears.
Our goal is to see the times recorded in CATS in the Confirmed work field of PPM.
Can you please help me out with this issue ?

If tasks assigned to a user is not listed in CAT2 worklist, then first we need to ensure that the tasks are displayed in the worklist. So the user confirm the times for the tasks using this list and after that only we should be running the report 'DPR_CATS_CPR_TRANF' to transfer the actual times entered by user in CAT2 to PPM project task.
To integrate CATS with PPM, you need to follow these steps.
Customisations:
1) Enable 'Time recording' for tasks & 'Account integration' in project type
2) Customisation related to 'Accounting integration' to be carried out (either single object / Hierarchical controlling, for testing better to use single object - Internal order, since it is easier)
3) Create a time sheet data entry profile
(Refer thread Record working times with CATS for details)
4) Ensure all object links(internal order / WBS) RFC destinations are updated correctly.
Master data:
Business partners creation with BUP003-Employee role & link to HR personnel number
(This is not required if HR integration is activated, since the system creates the BP's automatically. But manually we need to validate the BP's for linkage with few users)
Project:
1) Create project using customised project type (where time recording/accounting integration is enabled)
2) Structure the project with phase/tasks
3) Update duration/work etc., to the tasks
3) Create project roles & staff a resource (BP which is validated for HR personnel number linkage).
4) Assign task to project role with resource in Project role-->task tab
6) Release the project definition and also check for phase/tasks release
7) Change the status of project definition to 'Flag for transfer' (Can be done before project release also)
8) Check whether the internal order / PS project with WBS is created in ERP system(Based on customisation) and linked to project. Check can be made in accounting tab of the project. (If it is not created, then check for object link RFC destination correctness)
In case of automatic internal order creation process, you need to enter the org unit. data in project definition-->additional data of the project.
CATS:
After completing all the steps, the task assigned to the user will appear in the CAT2 transaction.
1) User can confirm the task with actual hours.
2) Run the CATS transfer report mentioned above to update the data in PPM project.

Time record approval with ESS/MSS

Hello,
I am new to MSS and I am facing some problems. I would like to get the time approval process started.
The projects are set up with cProjects and then transfered to PS. The WBS-items are taken for the time recording. Now I would like to approve this time recordings.
Unfortunately I don't have an idea what has to be configured to use the uwl:
- I think that I need to customize CATS to use the workflow (but which one)
- and then to configure the UWL in order to get the items...
Is this true?
Navigation through the portal and calling "team" in the MSS-menu an uncaught exception occurs saying that I have to configure infotyp 0008 for the employee I am using. Why do I need to set up the infotyp 0008 in order to see my team?
Calling the application for approval direct leads to the MSS overview.
Could somone bring some light in my darknes and tell me what I have to configure so that the project manager / line manager can see the recorded time that needs to be approved?

Limiting the time when Sales Orders can be confirmed on the same day

Hello Gurus. The business has a requirement where they want to limit the time of the day when they can confirm sales orders on the same day.
So, when they receive a sales order, they want that if the order is received after a certain time (e.g. 14:00) then it cannot be confirmed for that same day, it can only be confirmed the next day.
How can I implement this limitation?

Let me restate your requirement so that I understand your question:
A Sales order is created 'today' with a requested delivery date of 'today'.
There exists adequate material in Stock to confirm the order.
You want the confirmed date to be 'some-amount-of-time-later-than-now"
(say 18 hours or so)
Which confirmed date in the sales order are you talking about?
Confirmed Material Availability date?
Confirmed Loading date?
Confirmed Transportation planning date?
Confirmed Goods Issue date?
Confirmed Delivery Date?
Many people with this requirement use 'delivery scheduling', and add a half day or so in pick/pack processing time. This means that you are recognizing that it takes a bit of time to create the delivery notice, print the shipping papers, pick and pack the parts, and get them ready for the carrier to ship. So, for an order entered 'now', it wouldn't be due to ship from your warehouse until 'a half day from now'.
To enable Delivery scheduling IMG>SD>Basic Functions>Delivery scheduling and transportation scheduling>Define scheduling by sales document type. Select the relevant ordertypes, tick delivery scheduling.
If this is already selected, then you can increase the pick/pack processing time of the shipping point in IMG transaction OVLZ. It can be set to a fraction of a day (2 decimal points).

Which backend-system permissions are neccessary for time recording via ESS

I'd like to to time recording via ESS and would like to know which permissions/rights a user needs in the portal and the above all of them in the backend system.
Is it neccessary that the User in the backend system is a user of user type Dialog or could this also be an user with another user type?

Please make sure that the User has ESS authorisation
he needs to have the authorisation like recording times, Normal cats authorisation, please check help.sap.com for which infotypes to be necessary Like 316 etc

I'm not sure what you mean by the times get switched around, but you migh check on both mac and device in the Time & Date section of preferences/settings to be sure they are both in the same time zone.

It seems that I've solved this issue. To get it work:
1. Select checkbox Time Recording and Travel Expenses via CATS for project type. Path: SPRO —> SAP Customizing Implementation Guide —> SAP Portfolio and Project Management —> Project Management —> Structure => Define Project Types
2. Run/schedule a synchronization with the report DPR_CATS_CPR_TRANSF (Transfer of CATS Itemizations to Project Management Application).

Infotype 0050 - Display Time Recording Info.

I need to know if I unblock the "Time rec.ID no.". In order to chage the number if it's wrong.
If I change the number ID, the history data (Time recording info) could be change? How could I change the number ID without changing the history data?

In your case, what you should not do is to go PA30 and click on the 'Change' button. If you did this, you are changing the Time Recording ID for the whole duration of the record validity.
What you should do is to go PA30 on the infotype 50, click on 'Overview' button, select which record you want to maintained and click on 'Copy' button. In the detail screen, specify new effective date of the record. This way, you are not changing the Time Recording Info of the historical record.
Alternatively, you can go PA30 on the infotype 50, and right away click on 'Copy' button. This way, the system will pick up the most recent record and you can specify new effective date.
In short, using copy, you will retain historical record. Whereas using Change, no historical record is kept.

Critical error while trying to call the time record app

I just finished to configure ESS and would like to start the time recording.
Unfortunately I can only call the working time in the upper menu and the overview is shown. Pressing now the link to the time recording an critical error with an exception occurs:
A critical error has occured. Processing of the service had to be terminated. Unsaved data has been lost. Please contact your system administrator.
The current statement requires a character-type data object., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
Could someone give me an hint where to start looking for the problem?

Can you explain this better, there appears to be a strange work flow going on, have you imported PowerPoint into Keynote or you are trying to export to PowerPoint?
There are many users who have trouble with a recorded voice over going to Quicktime.
Try this repair, its sorted out many similar problems in the past.
Complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using Appcleaner from Mac Update to           do this, its freeware
2 restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
         let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and           click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store

We are using -ve time management. Time data comes from time recording system and through CATS emp books time against network, service order, production order.
Whered does employee swipe data gets recorded in employee master.
Will there be any chance of double entry time?

The time data from the system is stored in CATSDB if the time data is entered in CATS.
This transfer of data can be through LSMW or BDC upload.
There will not be any duplication of data in CATS.
