ESS Webdynpro problems

Hi,
I have installed and configured ESS, but I am experiensiing som problems with some iViews. Espacally under Personel Information.
The ivew doesn't show any error, but there are no data displeyed. The only option availbile is the cancel or exit button.
Anyone experiensed a similar issue?

Please go to Content Administration -> Webdynpro -> sap.com -> click on the application -> run as preview. Check if you are able to view the applications running there. This is just to rule out the doubt of something wrong with permissions but anyway if you are a super admin, you should be able to see it.
You said you have checked the note. So you mean to say that you have deployed the business packages on a seperate WAS 6.40, Portal 7.0 runs on a different WAS and you have iviews created which uses system where WAS parameters point to WAS6.40. And apart from that you have ERP2004. Correct me if I am wrong.
The log files can be located at usr/sap/<SID>/JC<System Number>/J2EE/cluster/server/log/defaulttrace.trc

Ess webdynpro java iview personalization problem

Hi,
we have a problem with the personalization dialog of the ESS-WebDynpro JAVA Applications (f.e. CATS, WhoISWho, Adress...) which the end user gets with Ctrl-Right mouseclick.
Our portal and HCM Backend use language "DE" (Germany). The personalization dialog ist shown always in english. Is ist possible to change the language of the personalization dialog ?

If you set the language as DE for the User performing the Personalisation and if you get all the portal standard menu in DE, then it should show the personalisation Dialog in DE.
I had the same issue for Korean Language and i Did the personalisation successfully (text chage for Korean)
so i think it should work for you case also.

ERROR In ESS WebDynpro with ERP2004 IDES System

I have installed ERP2004 ECC 5.0 IDES version now i want to use ESS Application on Portal
i Deployed the JAVA Components for ESS on the WAS 6.40 J2EE Server the componets are succesfully deployed.
i also cofigure the SLD and JCO destination for ESS which is according to SAP Help.
now my problem was when i test any of the ESS Webdynpro application using
http://<host>:<Port>/webdynpro/welcome
and login into webdynpro content administrator and expanding sap.com
while running any of the ESS application from deployed content it's gives following common error for all application, no application is works

i think this host are taken from R3 Side since the ERP2004 is IDES version, but my host was different

ESS Performance Problem

Hi,
I'm using ESS and i've performance problems using one application: Per_Bank_ES application spends a lot of time in response. I've seen it spends a lot of time in j2ee engine. Other ESS webdynpro applications have no performace problems since they work fine.
Using sap.session.ssr.showInfo=true parameter we get:
Browser: 531; J2EE: 767094; Backend: 44688
What can i do since this application is a sap webdynpro application?
Does anyone has a similar problem?

Infotypes and subtypes ESS WebDynpro

Hi,
How to find which infotype(and subtype) the specific ESS WebDynpro is storing(retrieving) information from?? There is not much information on ESS Business package or help.sap.com. There is not much on Service market place also....
I am also looking for information on all the WebDynpros of ESS Business Package.

ESS Webdynpro Java Employee enqueue / lock

the ESS-WebDynpro-Java Applications (f.e. esspdata, essadr, ess~cats) lock the employee in HCM Backend System. How long is the duration of the lock, is it possible to customize the duration?

the lock is valid till the session in these services is valid, ie its just like using pa30 to edit your details, as soon as you exit
this is released, this cant be controlled for services but as a portal session this can be set for timeout if the user is idle!

Multiple Data entry profiles in ESS -Webdynpro?

Hi All,
We have an issue here with the data entry profile.
The current system(ITS with 4.6c) has multiple data entry profile, from which the employee can select the profile according to the personel area, he is in. ( Employee can have multiple data entry profiles ) .
But in new frontend Portal, we dont have such option in EP 7 how can we achieve this in ESS- Webdynpro applications.
Need your valuable inputs on this.

Hi,
The newer version does not allow you to enter multiple ESS Profile. You will have to define one profile for the CVR parameter. If you think you the ESS User needs multiple profiles, its better to revisit those profiles and change them so that each user gets one profile that fits his time entry.
If you search in this forum, I think one earlier post had a good informative discussion about the same.

For WebDynpro application in iView there is a property to set Parameter for WebDynpro application.
Handel these passed parameters in Default plug of Interface Controller.
Note string passed as parameter in iview is case sensitive.

Are you editing ESS WebDynpro applications ? If its a error in the standard component its a product issue and u can raise a OSS message.
But I doubt , you have edited the same.
In that case , can u post the code in FcPersonalInfo s interface controller 's onCleanUp function.

ESS WebDynpro Appilication with Repetitive structure

I am trying to develop an ESS Webdynpro application for Infotype P0585 (Section 80) P0591 (Nominee Details), both these infotypes have repetitive structure.
There is no screen structure or RFC's(For Read, Modify, Edit Operations) for these Infotypes.
We are using ECC 5.0 (Software Component: EA-HR(SAP R/3 Enterprise HR Extension) Support Package Level : 09 )
I understand that customising for repeat Structure can be done by making an entry in the tables T588AUTO_MAP, T588AUTO_TABLE (Mapping for Conversion of Repeat Structure/Tables), but both these tables do not permit entry.
Any guidelines in developing Webdynpro application for services that use infotypes that have repetitive structure and implementing conversion class for the above infotype.

I am also working on Infotypes P0585/6 .
There are some modifications to be done in the Output Table Conversion Method inside the CL_HRPA_UI_CONVERT class for IT0585/6. The screen structure's was not getting copied properly and the Object Key of the Line-Records were lost inside this method somewhere. These changes are been rectified now and will be working by the end of the week.
As for the Entry in the T588AUTO_TABLE , it has been done for P0585/6 .

I have the problem of connection the ECC 5.0 with EP 6.0.
I have to Implementation EP on ESS.
I do not know what the address and number of port the ITS because my ECC is on WAS 6.40 and the ITS is already probably on solid integrated in WAS on which the ECC is.
I do not know what to write in EP in moment when creature system to R/3. There is registration 'ITS Host Name & ITS patch', I do not know what I have to write there where this put in is R/3?
What do transactions serve ITS? How do I have activate ITS?
I ask about dispatch me message on these subject, they can be this links or theses' concrete steps what I have to make.
What is it this PCUI_GP ? - I have this to install and where from I have this to pull down?

Custom fields in ESS webdynpro applications

Hi Experts,
Can you please suggest me where I am going wrong in this scenario? I have a standard application Family member application. We enhanced the infotype 0021 with new fields and corresponding fields are added in screen structures and HCMT_BSP_PA_JP_r0021. This is working fine in the backedn while creating a record in PA30. Standard application in webdynpro is working fine, after that I reimported the model in webdynpro and I can see these fields in my model, so I context binded them in controllers and then to view controllers. There are no errors in it. I added few fields in detail layout. Now when I deployed and run the application after these changes, it is opening up with bizcard view empty and the button for creating a new record showing up, which is not the case should be as I have record in the backend for the same subtype. When I clicked on New record, and even withought filling up required fields, I clicked on continue button, and it is failing giving runtime exception at review view.
Does anybody have any suggestions for me? am I doing the proper steps to make these custom fields available in the screen? does anybody have documentation for adding custom fields in ESS applications or any helpful links, please let me know, I really appreciate your time.

Hi all,
this is lil wierd but the problem is solved in this way.., it might be useful for others, so here is the way I did..,
Once I downloaded the model, I invalidated cache and also, I restarted J2EE, invalidation of cache sometimes acting up i guess. Then build it once again if the service is working fine. After that model bindings, contaxt changes, code changes one at a time and in between after every lil step, I deployed and run the service again, so that I can back that small step if it didnt work out.., finally this was fixed.., but all this process seems wierd about this approach and tiresome too.

ESS/MSS problem with UWL

We are using ESS/MSS within the Portal 7.0 SP 14. The SAP Backend which we are using is ECC 6.0.
SSO between the Portal and Backend works efficient.
Problem
There are some issues when using the Universal Worklist. All tasks appear in our Universal Worklist from the Backend. Unfortunately, when trying to open any task we are facing the following error:

The URL parameter of the resource "Employee_travel_tripform_srv05 has the value "sap_xss_tra_UsePdf=true"
The iView "Display Trip Form" has the application parameter "sap.xss.tra.UsePdf=true"
Question
When a task is opened from the Universal Worklist, the Trip Form must appear in PDF Form.At this stage the iview "Display Trip Form" opens but shows the error mentioned above.
Is there anyone who could help us out?

Again thank you for your response. We have checked the workflow *WS90000013*, and you are right; it is a customized workflow.
As we already mentioned, we are using a &BUS2089&.
In this &BUS2089& there are the elements: &TRIP.EMPLOYEENUMBER& and &TRIP.TRIPNUMBER&
Unfortunately it is not possible to delete &BUS2089&. Deleting the &BUS2089& will cause a lot of problems for this total Workflow.
UWL iView
For the UWL iView we are using the XML file "com.sap.pct.erp.mss.tra.xml" that comes with the ESS/MSS business package.

Will changing the code of "com.sap.pct.erp.mss.tra.xml" solve our problem? Or do we need to change something else?
Is there anything we need to do from the portal side or any configuration on the ECC backend?

ESS Configuration problem - Salary statement

I have configured the ESS as per the documentations.
We have ECC 6.0 with EA-HR SP03 and XSS SP6.
            The following JCO connections are all setup to ECC 6.0 back end and are pinging and tested successfully, even though not all are required.

The System Aliases SAP_ECC_HumanResources and SAP_WebDynpro_XSS are defined with WAS properties.
           There are no authorization issues as the user is SAP_ALL at ECC and superuser at the portal.
Employee search and Maintain own data services are working fine with default settings.
But while trying to view the Salary Statement (Paycheck Inquiry Service) the error below comes up.
