Essbase Add in Connection issues

Question

Hi guys,
My set up is this: Windows 7 64 bit with Ofifice 2010. I've installed Essbase but when when I hit connect in Excel, nothing happens. Hitting the other selecttions such as 'Query Designer' activates the other forms, just noting happens when I hit connect. I've tried changing the variables as per Tom's blog (http://timtows-hyperion-blog.blogspot.com/2010/03/classic-excel-add-in-in-windows-7.html) and nothing happens
This may well be because it is different to Tom's which I thought I had to change to reflect our set up difference
Another thing is when I try to connect to Data in Essbase Visual Explorer, I get the error message 'An error occurred while communicating with the data source'. NOt sure if these two issues are related, I am anothe newbie.
BTW, these are the values for my variable which seems to be different to Tom's
ARBORPATH=C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin
ESSBASEPATH=C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin
PATH:C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin\bin

Does the OP have Office 64-bit?
All I can see is Windows 7 64-bit.

On my 32-bit Vista box, the variables are as follows:
ARBORPATH=C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient
ESSBASEPATH=C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient
PATH=C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin;C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient;blah;blah;blah
I did not set the PATH -- that was the work of the 11.1.2 client installer and then a separate install by me of the standalone add-in install. I would have thought %ARBORPATH%;%ESSBASEPATH%;%PATH% would have done it, but again not my doing.
What Tim is showing, btw, in his code is a StartAddIn.cmd so that his pathing information doesn't clobber the rest of his laptop.

Just start a CMD session to prove that these variables are set. In Vista, I had an issue where the variables were being set in admin id I used for installing All Things Oracle but not in the ID actually used while working. It was a bit complicated and reminded me why everyone seems to hate Vista. I was able to prove that things weren't tickety-boo by typing SET at the command prompt.
