Essbase Add-in no connection

Gurus
I have a problem with my Excel Add-in.
I was being able to connect to database till yesterday.
But since yesterday, when I click Essbase - Connect, it does not have any response. When we click Essbase - Connect, we are supposed to get the box where we specify the servername and choose the database and use the username and password to connect. But there is no response at that point.
What could have been wrong?
Thanks for help

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
Both ESSBASEPATH AND ARBORPATH are:
C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin
So is there any thing that could have gone wrong?
I had tried to install Oracle 11g client so I am not sure if it has affected the Excel add-in, but I dont think they are related at all.
And what do you mean by the PATH? You mean the path of Excel-add IN?
Thanks

  • Can't add a planning connection as a favorite in SmartView 11.1.1.3

I am trying to add a Hyperion Planning connection as a favorite. I am able to add essbase connections without issue, however when I click on the Planning connections (accessed through Common Provider Connections) the option to add as a pre-defined or add as a favorite is greyed out.
I am able to add the planning connection as an independent Provider Connection, which I like because it diplays the connection information when I pull down the form (I am not getting this same connection info when I pull down the form using the common provider connection).
    My goals are as follows:
    1) Limit the amount of connections a user sees when logging on to SmartView (i.e. I don't want them to see our dev and test environments)
    2) Make sure that when connecting to a planning form, the connection information displays on the page. When connecting to an independent provider connection, it does this. When I connect using a common provider connection, it does not.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Beth

    Yes
In my example I took 3 dimensions;:
    - Accounts : Sales
    - Localisation : Americas
    - Time :    Jan
Previously in version 11.1.1.1, I was proceeding as follow in 3 steps :
Step 1 put under A1 in my excel spreadsheet all the dimension which are not in column or in line therefore, I put Americas
Step 2 put under B3 my column : SALES
Step 3 put under C2 my lines : JAN
    Americas
                             Jan
                   Sales 100
Now in version 11.1.2.3 if i proceed the same way, Americas move to C1 and it is present as follow
                             Americas
                             Jan
              Sales      100
    I hope it is clear

    Hi All,
I am getting the following Error when I am using Member Selection Property in Essbase Add - In
"Invalid Command 11607 Received in Request Manager"
    Environment :
    Essbase 6.5
    MS Excel 2000
    Please Help...Thanks in Advance
    Regards,
    Sonu

We have Hyperion Planning version 3.0.0 installed in the system.
Also while connecting from Excel with the server we get a warning message stating " The version of Essbase(65000) is older than the version of the Essbase API(65200) you are using".
If we proceed further, we are able to connect to the application and retrieve the dimensions and the members. But the "Member Selection" and the "Find" property doesn't work throwing the error message "Invalid Command 11607 Received in Request Manager".
    Please help...

  • Essbase Add-In on Citrix

We are using the Essbase Add-in for Excel on Citrix and are experiencing a problems with retrievals if multiple sessions are launched.
The problem occurs when a user opens up two sessions of Citrix/Excel and performs a retrieve in session 2, but then closes session 1. This causes a rogue Excel process on the Citrix server and that user then experiences inability to retrieve data.
We understand that multiple sessions are not supported for the Add-in and that running multiple sessions will cause retrieval issues. However, we are trying to find a solution that prevents rogue Excel sessions if and when a user happens to perform an Essbase retrieve from a second Citrix sessions.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem and do you simply live with it or have you found an acceptable solution or workaround?

The easiest way to deal with this type of problem is to have your citrix server admins check the "One instance per user only" button on the application's configuration. This way if they try to open an additional session of Excel, it's tough noogies.
The other option of course is to use the connection center to kill any open excel processes. In the lower right of your screen with a citrix application running (showing as a grey square with a red spot) right click and open the Connection Center. You can then see any open apps and options to knock them out (kind of like task manager on your local machine).

  • Essbase ADD-in and SSL

Anyone know a way to secure a connection from the ADD-In?
I cannot get the Essbase Add-in to use SSL. Even with a load balancer doing offload.
    Any ideas?

I believe your options are limited (to say, VPN access).
It's generally deemed not that important to have the add-in traffic secured. The data is being sent in a form that doesn't lend itself to easy reads and the login credentials are encrypted (finally). A casual observer with a network traffic monitor wouldn't get anything usefull, while a hacker applying intentional effort would be better off hacking an account and pulling the data directly.

  • Essbase add-in locked on network

Hi,We have the Essbase add-in file on a network drive and all users connect to this file.It works fine, but from time to time the add-in is locked by a user and nobody can connect anymore.Do you know why the add-in gets locked ?

  • Essbase add-in issue

    Hi All,
We face thsi issue here on many machines, When we connect to any database in Essbase add-in and do a refresh very first time, the list of dimenstiosn that should come by default on the blank sheet sometimes comes and sometimes does not. DO we know any fix for this??

When you do a refresh, do you just see a blank sheet instead of the default dimensions? If it is the case, try closing all Excel instances, make sure there is no Excel running in the background (you can go to Task Manager to see that. Kill the instance if it is still running). This is usually due to multiple instances of Excel running at the same time.
    Cheers,
    Mehmet

  • Augmented Essbase Add In -

A few years ago, I've seen an add in tool that either replaces or augments the Essbase Add In. One of the attractive features of this add in is the normal right click functionality of Excel is still available, together with the Essbase add in commands. Does anyone know where I can find this tool? Thanks.

  • How do I add a trusted connection one time in firefox?

I have a user who is trying to access my department's external site. The pages that she is trying to access pulls data from a different domain (One in our DMZ) than the external host domain. This DMZ domain is a trusted domain and pulling data from this domain has worked well for years on multiple browsers without incident. Now for every other page that hits this internal DMZ server the user is getting "This connection is not trusted" and has to go through the manual exception dance to see her data. We host hundreds of pages and having to do this for each one is going to drive people to grab another browser quickly. I got this user working on Chrome without a problem and have tested it in IE without problem.
I have recreated the cert8.db file in her profile and run into the same problem after reboot.
How do I add a trusted connection for this domain one time?

This should add the permanent exception:
[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/connection-untrusted-error-message#w_bypassing-the-warning Connection Untrusted Error Message: Bypassing the Warning]
However if it is not staying until the next time that the user opens up Firefox, is it possible that they are in permanent private browsing? [[Private Browsing - Browse the web without saving information about the sites you visit]] - that should have instructions to get in and out of it.

  • Problem with Essbase add-in 9.2.1 and office 2010.

    Hi all,
we have a problem with Essbase add in 9.2.1 and office 2010.
Every time when a user opens Excel a new (additionally) euntry in the ad-on menue appears.
Indeed what happens is, that the add-in is loaded n-times.
At the first start of excel one time, second two times and so on...
    Thtas's very annoying.
Can someone confirm this issue or even better know a workaround.
(A way we have found so far to ease the pain a bit -well only temporary- is to disable the ad-in, close Excel and start it again.
However with every new start of execel the issues begins again.
But that's not a solution you can recommand to the end user.)
    Any help is welcome.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Re: Essbase Add-in and Excel 2010

I have a user who is getting the following error:
Excel experienced a serious problem with the 'c:\oracle\middleware\epmsystem11r1\products\exceladdin\bin\essexcin.xll" add-in. . . .Do you want to disable this add-in?
Do we need to reinstall the Essbase add-in ?
I have had the user disable other add-ins via 'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins and that didn't resolve the problem.
Are there any compatibility issues with 64 bit Excel?
Also, after installing Essbase add-in, what are the items that should appear
    'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins
    Excel version : 2010
Add-in version Essbase Spreadsheet add-in, Fusion Edition 11.1.2
I would appreciate a quick response.

    'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins
The user has the following items:
    Essexcin.
    In2Hyp Essbase ribbon.
    Oracle Essbase Query Designer Addin.
The items which I have in 'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins is:
    In2Hyp Essbase Ribbon
Oracle Essbase OLAP Server DLL (Non- Unicode)
    Oracle Essbase Query Designer Addin.
Could you please kindly help me understand the difference?
Do you recommend reinstalling the Essbase add-in ?
Thank you very much for your help.

  • Function in Essbase Add-In

<p>In Excel, you can click on the fx that's beside the formula barto display the Insert Function window. There's a category called"Essbase Add-In" in the drop-down list box.</p><p> </p><p>Which directory would I paste my macro excel file, in order forthe macro function to display in this list?</p><p> </p><p>Thanks in advance.</p>

Wouldn't HypQueryMembers do what you want?
It sounds exactly like EssVGetMemberInfo, right down to the number 6 being the same generation.

  • Essbase Add-in and Office 2010 double clicking drilling down issue

We have Office 2010 and Essbase Add-in 6.5.4 and some users are having issues when double clicking to zoom in. When using the double-click to drill down, it flashes a few times and drills down to the lowest level even though it is setup to zoom to the next level. It works when you use zoom in from the menu and this doesnt happen to all the users. Does anyone have a fix for this issue?

We had similar issue but with lower versions of excel where a double click acts continously till the lowest level is reached for the member selected. Notice that all the members are not at the lowest level, it only happens for the current selected cell in excel.
In my case a re-install of add-in worked. Have you tried re-installing add-in. See that unistall is complete before re-installation. As you understand the problem is not with all machines/users, hence it should not be an issue with add-in.

  • Essbase add-in Error (duplicate name found in grid)

    Hi,
I have upgraded from 7.3 to 9.2 essbase add-in and get the following error when zooming into a product dimension - seems to be a problem with base member name and alias showing duplicates!
However this error does not occur on a new installation of 9.2 where there was no previous version of essbase add-in!
Has anyone experienced this or know of a work around? - the Cube is built using ASO/AIS

Same issue here. I have a call in with Novell for this, so hopefully it will get sorted soon. I suggest others with this issue raise calls as well to get it up the priority list.

  • Essbase Add-in Error - Cannot Find Message Database

Error #1040007 - Cannot find message database. Error received launching either the essbase add-in or app manager.Arbor path has been verified in path statement, and is first. Running under Win 2000, no changes to PC.Can anyone advise what may be causing this problem? Specific question: Where would the "message database be located?".Randy [email protected]

It's used to point to the message database (seriously)... LOL! I've never seen it used anyplace I've done Essbase and to my knowledge no one has ever been the worse off for it. It's probably just as well that you deleted it.Regards,Bruce
