Essbase Adhoc Analysis Connection - Smartview

Hello,
We are using Hyperion Planning Version 11.1.2. We want to use Smartview to connect to essbase for adhoc analysis. How do i connect to essbase for adhoc analysis. I am struggling to find the URL which I can use for connection to essbase.
Can you please guide.

In excel go to your options for smart view and enter the following information http://<foundationserver>:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders
replace <foundationserver> for your servername.
Once done try going to shared connections.

HFM Adhoc Analysis

Hi All,
I have a query regarding Adhoc Analysis in Smartview.
In an Adhoc reports when I click on ZOOM IN or Double click on any of the parent in Account or Entity Dimesion the child is repeating or duplicates the number of times I use double click or Zoom in function.
For Example if I have a parent as Service Revenue and 5 Accounts under it, when in click on Zoom function the 5 childs can be viewed .But when I reclick on the same Parent once again Service Revenue, its agian repeating the childs again and again the number of times i click the zoom in function.
How can I get the Childs only once. Can any one assist me on the below issue.

When you don't want the children comes from parent again and again when you click in Parent member like Zoom Out or In , Do not click the same multiple times, thats it.

Smartview tab and Adhoc Analysis Issue

Hi,
I am unable to see the smartview(Hyperion) tab in Excel , how ever i can see the options to connect Datasources and i can see the all other smartview options in in excel window, but when i select one of the planning type(Datasource) and then i clicked on Adhoc Analysis, but after i click on Adhoc Analysis, i can not see anything is come up.
Also i checked registering .dll file and rebooted my machine but that did not work for me
I tried to uninstall and install smartview couple of times but no luck
Please suggest how do i get this Hyperion tab in Excel.( but i can see the Hyperion tab is available in othe MS products-word and PPT)

Check in excel option Smartview is not disabled it should not be under disabled application addin.

Smartview Adhoc Analysis Read only

Hi,
we are using Hyperion Planning - basically with Smartview 11.1.2.
We have the requirement that users which are able to put in data via webforms (and they should be able to do so Role: Planner) should use Adhoc Smartview Analysis as read only.
If we assign the role Adhoc Analysis the users are able to submit data also via Adhoc - which is not what we need.
Is there any way to enable users (either Essbase or Planning Adhoc) for adhoc analyses in a read only way on the same datamodel where they have write access to data points.
I appreciate your thoughts on that.

with Hyperion Planning, you are able to start an Adhoc Analysis from an Hyperion Planning Dataform or from an Essbase cube?
What is the best way / pro / contra ? thanks in advance
.... I 've juste notice that when you delete the dataform the Retrieve doesn't work anymore :-( .... and with Essbase you get some "un-useful" dimension as HSP_Value

A couple of other things that go with Planning as the data source:
1) You have access to all of the non-Essbase data -- think SmartLists, text (okay, it's there now in Essbase, but not from Planning applications) fields, supporting detail, etc. If you want users to see that relationally stored data, the only other way to get it in Excel is to run a Financial Reports report into Excel (or hack the tables and write SQL to pull the stuff -- did that pre 11x and it's too much work).
2) There's a performance hit when going against Planning, just like there is when Planning is the data source in Financial Reports.
Using a form to limit dimensionality - isn't that what SmartSlices are for? I guess it's another way to get to the same place. Although you have to administer the SmartSlices, I would imagine they would break less often than a form might. Having said that, once built, how often do you delete a form?
It's really nice that ad-hoc analysis from forms are now possible, but I've always thought of it as nice feature to have alongside data entry, never as the primary path into Essbase analysis.

AC 5.3 RAR: Adhoc analysis

Hi experts,
today we added another client (new source) from the ERP system to Access Control. Thus we have 2 clients from one ERP system and another seperate ERP system connected to Access Control. We also updated the functions for the new system and generated the rules for the corporate ruleset . From my point of view all requirements for an adhoc analysis are met.
When I perform risk analysis on user level for all users, I receive no results.
When I perform exactly the same analysis giving specific user as arguments, I receive results.
The risk analysis on roles works also fine !
Risk analysis for the other client and the other ERP system work fine.
Do you guys have any idea why a risk analysis for all user doesn't work in my case ?

I tried to look at the log files (ccapcomp.0.log) to find out how the risk analysis in this specific settings run ... for me, it runs way too fast ... there are about 150 users in this client (~2500 on the whole system) and the analysis takes only 35 msec ???? See the log below:

How to influence join condition in Adhoc analysis

We have a subject area created that has *2 facts tables*. In one of the adhoc reports, the report query is taking the join from the second fact table instead of the first fact table for columns picked from common dimensions. Need to know how to influence join condition in Adhoc analysis, or OBIEE criteria with which the fact to make a join is chosen.
Requirement is to have a count of records in Dimension table, based on first fact - failure part, and then second fact - failure reason.

Com.essbase.eas.essbase.defs.ServerCommands.Connect - Session timeout

Hello,
I set essabse as a cluster on 2 win 2008 64 bit server (active, passive), EAS console runs on both servers as actvie active, we set a loadblanace infront of those 2 server to have EAS loadbalanced
if I do accsess EAS directly to the server http://<hostA>:10080/easconsole/console.html or http://<hostB>:10080/easconsole/console.html all works fine
As soon I am using domain name and go though loadbalance http://<domainname>:10080/easconsole/console.html I am getting the errror below:

Is it the web console, I take it you are using a http server such as OHS in front of the EAS WebLogic cluster, if so does it work through the http server or is still the same, how are sessions handled on the load balancer are they set up as sticky.

Problem of Bex Analyser connection

Hi, experts,
I have a question regarding as the Bex Analyser connection.
When I tried to connect one of the systems with Bex Analyser, I failed and got the message as below:
"Connect from SAP gateway to RFC server failed".
However, I could log into the system its self by Sap Logon. What's more, the connections to other systems with Bex Analyser are good.
Can someone give me some methods to analyse the problem and some indications?

Please note that, If we need to Logon into any SAP System. We need to give the system properties in the Logon Pad.
Like, Description, Application Server, System ID, System Number, SAP System.
1. While giving this properties, if you give in Application Server text box as the Hostname, System ID, System Number. Then in the saplogon.ini file will take this hostname and writes in this file. For example like this :- Item26=XXXYYYZZ370.
If you give like this the logon will be successful.
But when you give the details in the System properties as the IP Address in the Application Server. The in the saplogon.ini file will take this and writes in this file. For example as :- Item24=129.39.69.197.
2. When you are giving the IP Address in the Application Server, then you need to maintain this IP Address along with the Hostname in the hosts file. which is stored in this path :- C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one space.
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
Then only your logon will be Successful. And if you won't mention in this hosts file then the logon will fail.
Hope this difference makes sense. Please let me know if you are fine with this difference.

HSP_Rate dimension not showing in Smartview 11.1.2.1 Adhoc Analysis Conn.

I have an out of box currency conversion planning application.
The issue is that if I create Essbase connection via Smartview I can see the HSP_Rate dimension,however if I create Planning connection and use Ad hoc Analysis option I do not see the HSP_Rate dimension.
Is this a normal behavior ?

We just upgraded from 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.1 and are facing the same issue. I haven't found any reference to ER 8246706: CANNOT SUBMIT DATA FROM ADHOC VIEW FOR A MULTICURRENCY DATA FORM in support.oracle.com or a patch for 11.1.2.1.
Are you aware of any patch available for release 11.1.2.1?

Need help connecting SmartView

I recently got Smarview installed and I'm having issues getting it to connect to the database. This is probably really simple but I have no idea what I'm doing. The person who helped this up with the consultant left right after it was finished and the consultant left the company a few months later. So I have the Essbase bootcamp and little else to go on.
Our data is hosted by Oracle. I access Essbase via a URL - [Company Specific Info].oracleoutsourcing.com/easconsole/easconsole.jnlp. The server is [Server Name?].oracleoutsourcing.com:10045.
We also use Workspace https://[Company Specific Info].oracleoutsourcing.com/workspace/index.jsp
There is also a shared services URL https://[Company Specific Info].oracleoutsourcing.com/interop/content
So basically I'm asking for help to know if I choose to connect via a shared services provider or a url provider and then what I put in for the address.
Also anything else I need to be doing - like do I need to be logged into Essbase when I do this. etc would be helpful.

Not really - I've been looking at the help documents for the past two days and nothing I try works.
For example, I go to Excel > Hyperion > Connection Manager > Add > URL Provider and then put in https://[admin servcer].oracleoutsourcing.com:13080/aps/smartview
I click 'Next' and it says the request timed out.
I Excel > Hyperion > Connection Manager > Add > Shared Services Provider and put in https://XXXXX.oracleoutsourcing.com and click 'Update'
I get a list of 'Hyperion Shared Services on XXXXX.oracleoutsourcing.com:443'. I click on 'Hyperion Provider' and then '[admin server]:13080'.
I highlight that and click 'Next'and get the error 'Cannot connext to provider. The server name could not be resolved'

Issue with Analysis Connection

Hi to all! I have installed BoBj 4.1 edge edition.
When I try to open OLAP connection in CMC I receive the following error:
Analysis, edition for OLAP encountered an unexpected exception at 18:14 that has caused it to close.
The following reasons may have caused the unexpected exception:
Analysis, edition for OLAP has timed out. Your workspace may have been automatically saved to your Favorites folder as an "autosave" file.
A fatal exception has occurred. Log on again to Analysis, edition for OLAP.
If you repeatedly see this error, contact your administrator.
Have anyone experience the same problem? All BI platform servers are running properly.

Does this error occur when you try to modify an exisiting OLAP connection in the CMC or does this happen when you try to open an Analysis for OLAP Workspace?!

Essbase Add in Connection issues

Hi guys,
My set up is this: Windows 7 64 bit with Ofifice 2010. I've installed Essbase but when when I hit connect in Excel, nothing happens. Hitting the other selecttions such as 'Query Designer' activates the other forms, just noting happens when I hit connect. I've tried changing the variables as per Tom's blog (http://timtows-hyperion-blog.blogspot.com/2010/03/classic-excel-add-in-in-windows-7.html) and nothing happens
This may well be because it is different to Tom's which I thought I had to change to reflect our set up difference
Another thing is when I try to connect to Data in Essbase Visual Explorer, I get the error message 'An error occurred while communicating with the data source'. NOt sure if these two issues are related, I am anothe newbie.
BTW, these are the values for my variable which seems to be different to Tom's

What Tim is showing, btw, in his code is a StartAddIn.cmd so that his pathing information doesn't clobber the rest of his laptop.

In Vista, I had an issue where the variables were being set in admin id I used for installing All Things Oracle but not in the ID actually used while working. It was a bit complicated and reminded me why everyone seems to hate Vista. I was able to prove that things weren't tickety-boo by typing SET at the command prompt.

Logon Error! when connecting Smartview 11.1.2.2 with OBIEE 11.1.1.7.

I get "Logon Error !" when I connect to OBIEE 11.1.1.7 from Smartview using the URL: http://servername:7001/analytics/jbips
Has anyone else encountered similar problem with Smartview on OBIEE 11.1.1.7? Appreciate if you could share the solution if you managed to resolve this issue.

I installed OBIEE 11.1.1.7 (Simple Install) which I downloaded from OTN on Windows 2008 Server R2. I have the default SampleApp Lite application up and running.
I downloaded the BI Desktop Tool - Smartview for MS Office from the BI Homepage and installed Smartview on my Excel 2007 (32 bit) - The version I see on Smartview About menu is: 11.1.2.2.310 (Build 247).

Hi,
I even hit at this error and found one option to make it work. There is another installer called jbips.msi in <Smartview Installation dir>\install\ which needs to be run. Once you run this, try creating a connection to OBIPS and it should work. I could also see another menu called "Oracle BI EE" in my excel, once I have it.
