Essbase and excel 6.5 Wanted to Upgrade to 11.1.2.1
since there only essbase we just need to install 11.12.1 essbase and copy the otl files and series of steps
but how to upgrade the Excel addin 6.5 to 11.1.2.1

If you are doing a clean upgrade then all you'll need to do is uninstall the excel add-in from 6.5 and then reinstall the 11.1.2.1 version of excel add-in.

donno if this is the right place for this thread, I thought planning experts are experienced with both smartview and excel add-ins
what is the protocol used behind the scene in both ways (HTTP, RMI, TCO/IP) and which one takes less resources and works faster
to serve better interms of performance while connected to essbase? that I know we add URL for conneceting to essbase thru aps for a
smartview essbase connection and we directly connect to essbase in essbase excel add-in connection.

I think Essbase Excel add-in connects through TCP/IP whereas Smartview connects via web services (http).
Excel add-in should be faster as it speaks directly with Essbase as opposed to Smartview which connects Essbase through another service (APS). But Smartview comes with its own advantages (i.e. better integration, smoother user experience etc.)

Difference in behavior of sql and pl/sql after migrating from 9i to 11g

after migrating our database from oracle 9i to oracle11g, the developpers are worry that the behavior of the queries and pl/sql procedures/functions will change
example :
in 9i, select salary,count(*) from emp group by salary, it will display the rows sorted by salary
in 11gi, select salary,count(*) from emp group by salary, it will display the rows not sorted by default, we have to add the clause order by salary.
somebody could give the list of other difference in behavior (SQL and PL/SQL) agter migrating from 9i to 11g

Tell your developers: garbage in - garbage out. In relational databases only ORDER BY ensures row order. If your developers relied on GROUP BY implemented by SORT and therefore returning ordered rows they had to realize code they wrote is Oracle release dependent and sooner or later code would require changes. And that "sooner or later" is now reality. In newer versions ORACLE can do GROUP BY via SORT or via HASH. And if it is done via HASH - don't expect ordered results. So tell your developers "payback time".

How can I permanently prevent the Reminder Fox icon (in the Add-on Bar) and the Add-on Bar from showing?

Installed: Firefox 27. ReminderFox 2.1.4. Windows XP Professional
Since ReminderFox 2.1.4 was installed, I have deselected the 'Status/Add-on Bar Display 'Bow' and text on status bar' numerous times, but the setting never takes effect even after pressing the Apply and OK buttons.
The Add-on Bar, which has always been deselected from the View > Toolbars menu, shows as selected in the menu, and even though I deselect it manually, when I close Firefox and then reopen it, it shows again as selected in the menu.

Microsoft Word and Excel Hang When Pasting From Apple Applications

I have had a problem ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard. Word and Excel hang when pasting from Apple applications like Safari and Pages. Pasting to OpenOffice does not show the problem. Pasting from Firefox does not show the problem. I have resolved font duplicates, got rid of input managers, reinstalled Office removing plist files and normal templates but the problem persists. Microsoft is saying it is not their software after looking at the crash dump created from force quit. Besides, sticking to open source software , I am at a loss for what to try next besides reinstalling Mac OS X 10.6 (I am on 10.6.2 now). Any help appreciated. I have crash dumps and snapshots of the hung process if anyone can read them. Word is using close to 100% of the CPU when hung.

If their software is freezing up, it's certainly nobody else's fault. If those Apple apps are for some reason creating bad clipboard data, Microsoft's apps should be able to gracefully recover and report the problem. Error handling is probably one of the most important, and most difficult, aspects of programming, but you can't blame poor error handling on anyone but the developer. I suspect that, rather than bad clipboard data, it's more likely to be a case of Microsoft's apps simply not understanding something about perfectly valid clipboard data, because they haven't properly followed Apple developer guidelines.
Of course, that's not a solution. I can't really provide you a solution, other than to ask what version of Office you're using. If you're using too old a version of Word, you should update. You should also let us know what kinds of stuff you're copying. More info always helps to get better answers.

Essbase plus license and Excel Add-In

Can we perform lock and Send using Excel Add-In to Planning cubes(BSO cubes) if we have only Essbase Plus license?

SAP extract to Excel changed after migration from ECC5 to ECC6

Hi everyone,
This issue is about getting a proper table when displaying SAP reports in Excel. When extracting to Excel, the data base is presented with summary yellow lines whereas we would rather have a regular table without subtotal. This issue appeared when the system was migrated from ECC5 to ECC6. Please notice that one of the user has currently a proper display. Do you know which parameter shall we change?

With KSB1 I see it direct without sub totals and saving.
Click on spreatsheet
Select All Available formats

Resources and public folder database - migration from 2007 to 2013

We migrated our resource mailboxes thru the move mailboxes in 2013 EAC but now we're at the point of decommissioning our 2007 servers. Before the actual decommission we stopped all 2007 services and dismounted all 2007 databases. Once we did
this the resources would no longer work - errors pertaining to cannot directly book the resource.
I had to bring up the public folder database for the moved resources to work again. We do not use public folders any longer so we did not do any type of public folder migration. Do I need to do this for the resources to work?

I saw someone got the following error when he tried to book resource after migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, if Outlook version is Outlook 2007. But Outlook 2010 worked well.
"Cannot directly book a resource for this meeting."
Please switch between online and cached mode to check the result. And please check if this issue occurs in OWA.
If possible, please use Outlook 2010 to check the result.

Word and Excel hang "downloading" file from network drive - copy file to be able to open it

Word or Excel hang trying to open files on a network drive maybe after an untidy close.
Symptoms: pick the file from a pinned entry on recent list or even direct from File!Open... or by double clicking on the file from file explorer. Word/Excel show in the middle of the status line a comment "Downloading:filename "
a progress bar, that shows no progress, and a white cross on a red circle to close. Some minutes later may Excel/Word say could not open filename.
I have removed any temporary copies of the file prefixed with the ~. However there are no documents shown in any document recovery pane.
If I rename the original file the problem is still there.
I can only clear the problem by working on a copy of the file. It works with either a new name of if the copy is used to replace the original file.
It seems file explorer's "copy" is clearing something within the file that is causing this problem.
I have seen the same issue with both Excel and Word documents in native Office 2010 format.
Is there a better way to clear this issue?

If you could provide the exact error message, it would be preferred to determine the cause.

Is it possible to quickly determine Essbase member names in an Excel report? Are all alpha words on the page considered member names? What I would like to do is to take a report and through code determine the range containing column members, range for row members and range for page members.

You sound like you understand the Excel API, so with a little familiarity with either the Smart View Toolkit or the AddIn toolkit you can do these things in VBA with excel.

How can I get my add-ons to display in "about:addons," and stop add-on installation from hanging upon download?

I use firefox 9.0, on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

Slow Connection with FTP and SSH after a migration from 10.3.9 to 10.4.6

I just move my server from 10.3.9 to 10.4.6.
I import all my users and settings.
When i try to connect to my server using FTP or SSH, the connexion is slow.
I have to wait arround 45 sec before connecting to the server ( i never wait with the old 10.3.9 )
ex of connexion + delay
I enter : ssh myuser@myserverip
server : Password: ( 26 sec after i hit the return key !! )
server : Last login: Tue May 9 11:57:03 2006 from XX.XX.XX.XX ( 2 sec after )
server : Welcome to Darwin!
It is faster than the first time because the server must store some datas of recent connected users.

Lost about 60-75% of my primary and foreign keys when Migrating from SQL Server 7

Hi All,
I did an almost successful migration between SQL Server 7.0 and Oracle9i.
What happened:
I seem to have lost my primary and foreign keys in the migration. The funny thing is when I viewed the constraints and indexes in Toad, they were there. However when I tried to enabled those constraints nothing happened.
I really don't know how I can fixed this, but I don't understand why I didn't get a warning or an error message in the Migration Workbench (latest version).
I did ignore the following errors, could that have anything to do with the keys being lost.
Failed to create User:omwb_emulation; ORA-1920: user name "OMWB_EMULATION" conflicts with another user or role name
Failed to create User:guest;ORA-01920: user name "GUEST" conflicts with another user or role name
These users do not own any objects therefore I ignored them.

Hi Joe,
Not sure why you are able to see these objects and yet not able to enable them. Did you encounter any errors during the create Oracle Model phase?? Did you encounter any errors during the final Migrate phase?
Also, it is really important to have a tablespace created before an attempt is made to create tables and indexes in the destination Oracle database.

Do I need to make change in add ons to move them from sap 2007 to sap 8.8? Or same add file will be compatible in sap 8.8?

There is no need to change your customises addon to be run in any of the version.
But if SAP standard addon is there then it requires proper upgradation for which tools have
been provided by SAP in PL setups.....
