Essbase Application Restore Issue.

Hi All,
I am trying to copy an Essbase Application from a distant install. I have been provided the contents of the 'app' directory of the remote server. After copying to my Essbase server instance 'app' directory, I am trying to restore by creating a new application in EAS with the same name. But I get the below error:
*Error: 1002097 Unable to load database [PFTAPRFT].*
This application has 20 DBs. If I remove the PFTAPRFT folder from the app directory, it gives the same error on another database. All this while I try to create the application as BSO. But when I try to create the same using ASO option, I get a different error as below:
*Error: 1002112 Unable to convert outline [D:\EPMhome11G\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\APP\ACCPROFT\PFTAPRFT\PFTAPRFT.otl], verification failed*
I also tried not to place these applications in the 'app' directory and manually create the application, outline and load data using files, but that cube did not show any measures and was showing all values as '#MISSING'.
Can some one please point me on what I am missing here to able to move the application successfully from one Env to another ?

why dont you check with your server team(windows/unix) to revert it back as your applications are getting effected & ask them to first apply on Dev/QA servers and then test, if everything is ok, then move it to Prod.
Are you sure that before restore you always change the app/db settings(uncheck allow users to start,etc) and stop the application, then try to restore full application or only DB also fine as you are not going to change anything on app files.....

the Application"ABC" consists of two databases
DB1 and DB2
so you want me to go to
Z:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\app\ABC\DB1
Z:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\app\ABC\DB2
and rename the DB1.dbb and DB2.dbb in resp databases to .db?
One more thing i can see the DB1.db already exist in the Database folder :(
Can you tell me what do i need to do?
Is there anything releated to delete .esm file and restart database for the recovery? does this help???

Error upon starting an Essbase Application

Good day Guys,
I'm having problems on starting an Essbase application. When I try to start the application, I get this error message:
*Cannot load application [App Name] with error number [1052003] - see server log file.*+
I tried the solutions in the Error Message Reference but to no avail. I increased the NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT, I restarted Essbase server.
Anyone please help.

Hi,
I have one reverse approach for your problem, open EAS console copy the application databases to some other application folder in EAS. Once you are done with this delete the database of the application, please be sure you are deleting the database which is having the issue now start the application. Now log on to he Planning and deploy the application from Planning to Essbase by manage database in Administration module.
Once this is done come back to the EAS console here you will see a new database is created in the application folder, now you can compare the older database with the new database which is newly created. This will help you in determining what may be the issue.

Cannot start Essbase application

Hi-
We could not start our Essbase application after stopping and starting Essbase services. This issue happens randomly, usually when big calcs are running and getting interrupted by the nightly backup process. We are killing all processes and logging off users before stopping the services, however we still seem to be running into "Cannot load application..." error depicted below when trying to start the services back up.. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Is there any better way to get rid of any hung processes besides "alter system kill request all;" command? Thank you in advance..

Please be careful.
When you kill a calc script, it can damage your app/db.
I would suggest to make sure that your calc script finish before your backup run, or run after the backup finish.

EPMA batch client with Essbase application - does not update aliases

Hello,
We are using EPMA 11.1.2.1 for managing outlines for Essbase applications.
Changing aliases in EPMA and launching manually redeploy from Workspace, with flag "Full Deploy" change correctly the aliases in Essbase..
Using the EPMA batch client to redeploy the Essbase application deletes all aliases in Essbase outline.
Someone knows how to solve this problem or what am I doing wrong in the EPMA script?

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From your description it seems that you are facing issue only with windows 8\8.1. So firstly suggest you to check with application support team, whether they have whole support for application with newer version. Also check once with application support team
regarding this issue.
This issue occurs because the local taskbar does not receive the EVENT_OBJECT_NAMECHANGE event from the system due to a timing issue. The EVENT_OBJECT_NAMECHANGE is needed to update the taskbar title information.

The taskbar may not show the application name correctly when using a Terminal Server RemoteApp

Time Balance is set to Last for EPMA Essbase application in Essbase Outline

Hello Gurus,
Following is my scenario -
I have an EPMA Essbase applications that I have deployed from Workspace.
I have observed that even though the Time Balance property for members for the accounts dimension are set to Balance (as seen in Dimension Library) in EPMA, after I deploy the application the dimensions are tagged as TB Last in Essbase outline (as seen in EAS).
I am not aware of the functional part much, would really appreciate someone's help on this issue.

ESSBASE / PLANNING
TB Last = Balance
TB None = Flow
TB First = First
TB Avg = Average
In general, Income Statement accounts are "Flow", and Balance Sheet accounts are "Balance" (unless you're storing activity, and not balances). Statistical accounts are a mixed bag.

EPMA Essbase Application Validation - A internal server error

I have created an essbase application "TEST". In Epma i have uploaded the dimensions for the application and tried to Validate the application. But during validation I am getting the following error
"A internal server error occured communicating with the server - URI: http://server.com:19000/awb/integration.verifyApplication.do
Status: 500 - Internal Server Error".
Could you please help me to fix the issue.

Thanks for your follow up john. But I have deployed Planning applications successfully through EPMA. And also the error is about Communicating with the server. Could you please let me know whether there is anything wrong with my server (whether i have to change any settings/properties).

Migrating Essbase Application from QA to Production

Hi Experts,
I need to migrate an Essbase application (PLNG) from QA to Production system. This migration include business rules, calc scripts, load rules, and report scripts. The metadata repository resides in an Oracle DB. I am following step:
Shutdown the Essbase application PLNG.
Move the complete files under $ARBORPATH/app/PLNG from QA to Production
Move all the Essbase data files for Essbase PLNG databases pag and ind files from QA to Production
Export the PLNG user from QA and import it to the Production Oracle DB (metadata)
I need comments whether I am following the right procedure or not. Also the PLNG application contains one database PLNG1 which I want to keep as is , so in that case, how do I need to import the metadata from QA to Prod.

I would test first what dhowehughes has said. You can find this wizard on File->Wizards->Migration menu in Essbase Administration Services Console. This usually works for all metadata with two exceptions:
1) Security issues. If you are using Shared Services, you will not be able to migrate users, provisioning,... with this method. You must use Shared Services instead. If your Essbase installation is stand-alone, then you can use this wizard to migrate security.
2) Data. You have to export data to a file/s. Transfer this/these file/s to Prod environment and import them.

Essbase Application Access Rights

I have a essbase application without planning, and try yo give read rights to a user via Shared Service , but without giving essbase admin rights, user can't see application, i give to user read on application and server access on essbase, unfortunately it doesn't work, i want that user can see one application and read data from it, how can i solve this.

As said in earlier post, you should sync the security from sharedservices to essbase.
once you give server access and read access, you need to sync user.
You can sync that particular user alone rather than syncing all the users. use the following maxl command to sync single user
alter user <username> sync security with all application;
if you are still facing issue, check what access it is showing in essbase (not in shared services).

Prime 2.2 restore issue

We are trying to do appliance backup on Prime 2.1 and restore on Prime 2.2. Getting the below error:
Current system configuration doesnot match the system configuration of the machine where the backup was taken.
Please attempt restore again on a equivalent machine
Any customizations done on the original server have to be repeated before restoring the backup
The following system requirement need to be met before restore can proceed with the given backup
DB Memory target - 6GB

Will their be a issue of restoring if PI2.2 has memory bigger than PI2.1 memory.

In order to restore a PI backup taken from a physical/virtual appliance with certain system specification, the new appliance (physical/virtual) where we’re restoring the backupmust have the same system specification.
Therefore, it’s not possible to restore the PI backup on a virtual appliance whose system specification different than the original one, from where it was taken.

I have cheked jvm version on both system the only difference is :
Solaris points to jdk 1.5.0_09
Windows point to jdk1.5.0_05
Even i tried to run blank jsp also but again i got the same error.
Can any help me to sort out the problem or give me any idea so i can do something by my own.

After Upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 Essbase Application Not Shown in Calculation Manager

I have upgraded from EPM 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 and now want to import Business Rules to Calculation Manager for use with Essbase.
However I cannot see my Essbase Application in Calculation Manager; (only the provided sample applications are shown in the hierarchy)
How do I check my configuration? How does Calculation Manager connect to Essbase and find my app?
I haven't knowingly altered Essbase server/port details during the upgrade as I opted not to re-host.

Yes the EAS schema was upgraded by the configurator.
I ran upgrade_ps2.sh (unix) without changing any configuration just to see what it does and (after I had to manually create the directory structure for the log file) it created an HBRrules.xml file successfully fo the first time under EPMData/planning (The missing log file directory structure may have been why the configurator didn't create the HBrrules.xml file at the first attempt during the Planning upgrade)
Anyway not entirely sure where upgrade_ps2.sh got its rules information but the file it created was very similar to the HBR file exported from EAS prior to starting the upgrade.
I attempted a 'migrate' again with Calculation Manager but still get the "No objects were found in the document for importing", i.e. kind of back to square one.
I really need to understand what is Calc Managers problem?
Q .What server should the upgrade_ps2.sh be run on? Planning or Shared Services? (I did it in on both)
Q. How can I get Calc Manager to tell me more with logging or tracing somehow?

How to know the number of Active users logged in to a Essbase Application?

Hi,
Is there way to capture/log the number of active users who have logged into a particular Essbase application at a given time.
In Essbase or in Shared services?
I know we can see the EAS-Edit Sessions shows the actively logged-in users, then we can sort on the application/database & manually count the number.
Is there a way to capture it in a log at a given time on a regular basis. Any MAXL or Shared services feature?

You could use maxl .
display user all;
there will be a column called "logged in" which will display true/false for the users
but that will just show if they are logged into the server and not the application
You can also use use display session
display session all;
or
display session on application sample;
which should show what you are after.

I had to rebuild my iTunes Library by dragging my music folders in my iTunes Media into the iTunes Application and rebuild my playlists manually. After plugging my iPhone 5 into the computer USB, it immediately recognized my iPhone 5, showing: last backups, space left on my iPhone & all options available. I then checked the box to manually manage music etc. The problem I am now having is that when I actually try to drag music from my iTunes to my phone a prompt comes up saying that my iPhone is not an authorized device. What should I do? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Given your situation, I’d highly recommended that you purchase a SATA-to-USB adapter, so that you can test both your old disk and your new disk externally, since it might be that the problem is due to a faulty internal SATA cable rather than due to faulty disks.
