Essbase Connection error: version 11.1.2

HI all,
I am facing an issue...
I am not able to see the SQL data source in the EAS - when I click File>Open SQL.
It gives error - There are No data sources defined, SQL data sources option will be disabled and that is the case.
somwhere i read to modify/copy-paste the odbc.ini file but unfortunately i have not been able to find the odbc at he location
$EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/ODBC/Merant/x.x/odbc.ini
I have installed essbase on windows 2003 sp2 and right from the beginning it is beset with errors.
any ideas or links to help with the installation.

unfortunately i tried many times after adding data sources in odbc and also tested the odbc connection with obiee
but i couldnt connect to the sql data sources to essbase
BTW my oracle http server does not work
neither does weblogic server .
could that be the cause of essbase not connecting to the datasources

Essbase connection error via smart view

Hi All
I'm currently experiencing difficulties connection to essbse via smart view. The application has two databases. All users can connect to one of the databases but not the other one. The essbase server password has not been changed. The version we are currently using is 11.1.1.3

Hi,
I got this error while connecting to the Essbase server through EAS Console. To resolve this issue I just removed the Essbase server from the Enterprise view and added the server again. After that I was able to access the Essbase applications.
But I am not sure about smart view. Also make sure that you are using the correct login credentials to login into the server.

Essbase connection error

While trying to conect to Essbase server from excel, I am geeting the following error: Network error [10060]: Unable to connect to [Servername: 1423]. The client timed out waiting to connect to Analytic Services Agent using TCP/IP. Check your network connections. Also make sure that server and port values are correct.
However I am able to coonect from other machines. Please advice.

This computer may have a firewall blocking the port 1423.
make sure you can ping the destination IP address and create connection to 1423 port.

Essbase Studio Cube Deployment SQL Connection Error

Hello,
Has anyone seen this error in studio.
Failed to deploy Essbase cube
Caused By: Failed to build Essbase cube dimension: (Accounts)
Caused By: Cannot incremental build. Essbase Error(1021001): Failed to Establish Connection With SQL Database Server. See log for more information
I connected to the SQL database without issue creating the data source and I can view the sample data on the dimension element. The only time I have a connection issue is during cube deployment. The log is no help.

I can connect from the same Essbase Server from the data source connection used in the Essbase Studio console.
I am not using any encrypted passwords.
I can log into MaxL with no issues, but running trying to execute the following command is where I get the error.
deploy all from model 'GL_Analysis' in cube schema '\ANALYSIS\Schema\Schema' with option delete_members login $1 identified by $2 on host 'server1' to application 'test1' database 'test1' overwrite values using connection 'essbaseserver' keep 200 errors on error ignore dataload write to default;
It allows me to connect and deploy sucessfully using the Maxl installed from the Essbase client version 11.1.2.2. However running the MaxL installed from the Essbase client MaxL version 11.1.2.3 seems to provide me with the connection issue. I am trying to determine if it is a bug or something that was missed during upgrade process.
Currently we need to deploy via the Studio.

Yes, you are correct. Due to invalid credentials only i am getting this error.
I want to ask you one thing. Actually, at the time configuration i gave password as a password, then my manager wants to change that password to Gxxx@123!
I have changed that password, it is working fine to connect workspace, easconsole and all.
But the issue i seen in creating DataSource(In planning), i am getting error with new password in the Essbase server datails. If i give old password(as password), it is working fine.
So, How can get that new password to work here??
In ODI also, it is the issue. When i am using New password it is not working. With Old password it is working fine.

Can't authorize - I get a connection error. No previous ADE versions on this computer, no firewall issues.

I am going crazy trying to open an ebook from my library. I am obviously connected to the internet, but I cannot get Adobe Digital Editions to authorize my computer. It keeps telling me there is a connection error. I have looked through several forums and answers, but none have worked so far.

- Creating connection using essbase hypersion 9 and creating universe in Universe Designer (Ok)
- Checking validity of the universe (Ok)
- Create and run report in webbi rich clien (Ok)
The problem is when I tried to create report and run query in Web Intelligence Java Panel Report, I got this Error "A database error occured. The database error text is: Essbase API Error (1030723): . (WIS 10901)".
Can someone help me to solve this problem, please?

EPMA not working: Requested service not found error , version 11.1.2.2

I am facing problem as my EPMA (version 11.1.2.2) connection is not working and it is showing the following error after giving the user credentials
Code: com.hyperion.awb.web.common.DimensionServiceException
Description: An error occurred processing the result from the server.
The connection was working fine till last Friday and I had to restart all the services followed by a network slowness. After that I could not make EPMA working. I have tried the following steps so far (as recommended on similar issues)
1. Increased the DimensionServer startup time to 1800 in BPMA_Server_Config.xml
2. Restarted EPMA server and services.
Please note that I have the environment where EPMA is on Windows server and Essbase is in Linux server. Hyperion planning and Essbase connection is working fine. I am using Oracle 11g for EPMA relational database.
Would appreciate your help to resolve the issue.

Start Essbase Studio Error

Dear all,
I'm very new to hyperion. I installed foundation services, essbase and planning and configured them. then i installed essbase studio through EssbaseStudioConsole and started the system using Start EPM System. When i run EPM System Diagnostic, everything passed except for this error:
FAILED ESS: Essbase Studio Server Validating Essbase Studio Server connection
Error: Network communication with the server failed. Check your network connection and try again.
Recommended Action: Start application
1 second
What could cause such an error?I am looking for what stuff in the environment that Essbase Studio depends on, but cannot find an.

I'm using Hyperion 11.1.2.2 on Windows 2008 SP2 32 bits and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production. the database resides on a different server and i have only the DB client installed on the same machien as the hyperion applications. This is not a fresh installation, i did one before but failed so i formatted the driver where i installed hyperion. i'm not using any patches

Dear All,
    when i connect our BI System to R/3 system via RFC in SM59 ,i am getting following error in BI system and also The problem occur in particular instance .(Other instance working fine in BI system)

mostly your gateway servicve is not working check smgw tcode on that instance
you can do this goto sm59->select the instace execute tcode smgw
easy way is restart the instance
it will start working

Creating RFC Destinations in the ABAP and Java Environment
You need to create the following RFC destinations in transaction SM59 (ABAP) and the Visual Administrator (Java):
u2022 AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
u2022 AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
u2022 LCRSAPRFC
u2022 SAPSLDAPI
Depending on your client settings, it may be necessary to be logged on your SAP Exchange Infrastructure host as SAP system user with the authorization to maintain customizing tables and to release transport orders. Note, that user "SAP*" or "DDIC" does not have these authorizations.
Maintaining the RFC Connections (Transaction SM59)
1. Log on to your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host.
2. Call transaction SM59.
3. Choose Create.
4. Enter at least the following:
RFC destination: AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
Connection type: T
Description: <your description>
5. Choose ENTER
6. Choose the tab Technical settings and do the following:
a. Select Registered Server Program
b. In the Program ID field, enter: AI_RUNTIME_<SID> where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your Integration Server host. Use uppercase letters only.
c. Enter Gateway host and Gateway service of your Integration Server host. To find out the required parameters:
a. On the Integration Server host, call transaction SMGW
b. Choose Goto u2192 Parameters u2192 Display (see entries for gateway hostname and gateway service)
7. Choose tab Special Options and select the flag Unicode in the box Character Width in Target System.
8. Save your settings.
9. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 8 for the remaining destinations:

1. On your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host, start the J2EE Engine administration tool.
2. Choose Cluster u2192 Server u2192 Services u2192 JCo RFC Provider
3. In the section RFC destination, enter exactly the same program ID and gateway options for AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER that you used in the step Maintaining the RFC connection above. Additionally, set the number of processes to 10.
4. In the section Repository, do the following:
a. Enter the parameter for the SAP XI host: Application Server, System Number, Client and Language.
b. For User and Password maintain the login parameters for the user SAPJSF.
c. Select the flag Unicode.
6. Choose Set.
7. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 6 for the remaining destinations:

Testing the RFC Destination
After you have maintained all RFC destinations in both the ABAP and Java environment, you can check all the connections above as follows:
1. Call transaction SM59 again.
2. Open your RFC destination.
3. Choose Test Connection. No error should be displayed.
This will solve your problem.

RFC connection error when registering PROGRAM ID.

I created a RFC connection of type T.
I gave the following parameters ->
gateway host: hostname and then ip-address
gateway service: sapgwxx
Registered program id: xxx
It is giving me the following error:

I followed the blog. Here are the steps that I did.
RFC destination:
1. To create the RFC go to TCODE: SM59 -> Done2. Create new destination of type T (TCP/IP) -> Done
3. Make sure you select Registered Server Program option before writing your program ID -> Done
4. Write you program ID (remember it's case-sensitive) -> gave the SID name
5. In the gateway host and gateway service write the values of your "Application system" - business system (not the XI server) -> Typed the gateway hostname and gateway service "sapgw<instance no>", that I got from SMGW.
But still I face the same problem. It get the following error:
