Hi All,
I am using Hyperion V11.1.2 and also installed v11.1.2 of smartview .
Now I want to connect to Essbase from Microsoft Office.
what is the url for connecting Essbase from MS office?
Plz suggest...

After entering the URL only two options are available under "Shared Connections" drop down list.
Essbase Server name is not in the list.
Please suggest if I have missed out any steps...

Workspace can connect to Essbase. To connect to Essbase perform the below task:
1) Install Essbase Client on the Server where you have install BI Services.
2) Configure DAS by using Service Configurator.
3) Create an OCE which should connect to Essbase Server.
4) Import OCE in to Workspace. Use this oce to create connection.

Essbase connection error via smart view

Hi All
I'm currently experiencing difficulties connection to essbse via smart view. The application has two databases. All users can connect to one of the databases but not the other one. The essbase server password has not been changed. The version we are currently using is 11.1.1.3
this is the error from the smart view log file.

I got this error while connecting to the Essbase server through EAS Console. To resolve this issue I just removed the Essbase server from the Enterprise view and added the server again. After that I was able to access the Essbase applications.
But I am not sure about smart view. Also make sure that you are using the correct login credentials to login into the server.

Error encountered while loading data into an Essbase cube from oracle DB

Hi All,
I am trying to load data into an Essbase cube from Oracle db. Essbase is installed in an 64 bit HP-UX machine and oracle database on HP -UX 11.23 B server. While performing the above I am getting the below error messages:
K/INFO - 1021013 - ODBC Layer Error: [08001] ==> [[DataDirect][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle]ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory].
OK/INFO - 1021014 - ODBC Layer Error: Native Error code [1034] .
ERROR - 1021001 - Failed to Establish Connection With SQL Database Server. See log for more information.
Can you please help me out in identifying the issue, as why it could have occured , because of network problem or is there anything related to databse?

Excel addins and essbase connection

Hi Team,
In EPM 11.1.2.1 can you please let me know how Excel addins users connect to essbase server? Does it uses the default port 1423 to connect to essbase server when we connect to the essbase application from Excel to pull data.

In a default installation, the Add-In initially contacts the Essbase agent on 1423, and is then connected to the individual Essbase application using ports in the range 32768 to 33768.
See also AGENTPORT, SERVERPORTBEGIN and SERVERPORTEND in the Technical Reference. If non-default values have been configured you will see these parameters in the Essbase.cfg file for your installation.

Essbase connection error

While trying to conect to Essbase server from excel, I am geeting the following error: Network error [10060]: Unable to connect to [Servername: 1423]. The client timed out waiting to connect to Analytic Services Agent using TCP/IP. Check your network connections. Also make sure that server and port values are correct.
However I am able to coonect from other machines. Please advice.

This computer may have a firewall blocking the port 1423.
make sure you can ping the destination IP address and create connection to 1423 port.

Essbase Connection Hung UP

I have issue with hungUP connection to essbase. It's happens from time to time . and I can't conect to Essbase server from EAS, and execute any statement form MAxl.
I can't found any error and exception in log file. Do u have any recipies for similar issue?
p.s. This installation looks like all-in-one box. This virtual machine was create on Win2003 and include Oracle DB11.1 and Hyp11.1.2.1
p.s. Last opinion - it's i have not free tcp ports for create new Essbase Connection. but I don't know How is it I can check.

Delay in expanding Essbase server from EAS console

All,
Lately, we've been encountering the issue wherein when we click on any prod essbase server from prod eas console, there is an infinite delay but none when we do it from staging eas console. Any quick pointers here as to what might be wrong?
We are on 11.1.2.1.105 and installed Planning few days back.

My java version was 1.7.0_17 and I downgraded to 1.6.0_45 and was able to expand the essbase server. Only catch is that just before I connected, services were restarted by our admin.

Essbase Upgrade from 7x to 11x version

Hi All,
I am working on essbase upgrade from 7.1.0 version to 11x version, Just curious if somebody can help me in my basic question
1) I have read many blog suggesting that to upgrade to 7 to 11, we have to follow two step process i.e 7 to 9 and then to 11. Is it true?
2) If i am installation the 11x on completely a new either windows are linux box, can i just the load the data from 7x version cube to 11x cube?

This has been covered many times, if it is a new install then you could use the migration wizard to connect to your existing environment and migrate, you will need to take data separately.
Or you could just create the apps in the version 11 env, export the data and copy the objects from your 7 environment.

I have to establish a connection from SAP WebAS to an iSaSiLk server via HTTPS.
The iSaSiLk authentication is based on client certificates.
I've created a SSL client PSE, generated the Certificate Request, imported the certificate response and the chain of certificates associated with no errors. When testing the connection we're getting the following error message:

From the iSaSiLk everything seems to be OK, but on the SAP WebAS the error "none of the PSEs registered with hSsl can suffice the negotiated SSL cipher suite" is really unclear, since the cipher chosen by the iSaSiLk is one of the ciphers sent by SAP WebAS...

Cannot send email via ActiveSync when user connect from Internet (Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5)

This is the first time I encounter this kind of issue, whenever user connect from the internet they cannot send email from their Phone or Windows Mail App, but they can retrieve email
But when they connect from Internal Network they can send email. I already test ActiveSync from internet using www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and it pass all tests.
I also check the Firewall and all the necessary ports already opened (we even open all ports) , the default TTL on the firewall 3600 second.
From what I read ActiveSync use some kind of HTTP POST or in MS terminology "PING" command, but still have no idea what kind of configuration that should be made to the Firewall so it can pass this "PING" command. Because from what I
see in Android Logcat the problem always related to this PING command

We are getting this error when we try to get a connection from the
pool for a Tx Data Source. We are successfully getting connections
from a (non-Tx) Data Source.

the trick; but in this case it does not. We are using Merant's
JSQLConnect type 2 driver for SQL Server, and we are running on
Solaris. The scenario works fine using Oracle Thin driver on Windows.
Do we need ACL entries or something? We do not have any ACL entries
now.

Dbcon connection from sap db2 to external sql server

I am trying to connect from my sap server which is in unix platform with DB2 database to external SQL server using DBCON as MSSQL_SERVER=<server_name> MSSQL_DBNAME=<db_name>. But while running ADBC_TEST_connection i am getting the error . When i check the error log it says

How to resolve this issue. As it was mentioned in few forum we need to download the dbsl library from kernel patches and to load in kernel path. As my db is DB2 can we download dbmssslib.so this library and load in kernel file? Is it will work?

Hi Rai,
This error indicates that the ABAP stack could not find the SAP DBSL for SQL Server (dbmssslib.dll) in the kernel directory. If you encounter this error on a Unix - based server the root cause is clear: the DBSL does not exist for other platforms than Windows or Linux x84_64. In this case use a Windows-based or a Linux x86_64-based SAP Application Server to establish the connection. If your system does not contain a Windows-based or a Linux x86_64-based Application Server you need to setup a small one as workaround. If you encounter this error on a Windows Application Server or a Linux x86_64 based Application Server make sure that the DBSL is properly installed in the kernel directory as explained in the document below.
