Server EPM 11.1.2.3, compact deployment :
After uninstalling SmartView 11.1.2.3 and installing SmartView 11.1.2.5 :
Connection OK to Hyperion Planning & Reporting and Analysis Framework,
Connection KO to Essbase :
No Essbase provider in Shared Connections or Private Connections.
In Private Connections :
Connection OK to http://epm server or IP:9000/HyperionPlanning/SmartView
Connection KO to http://epm server or IP:9000/aps/SmartView : "Impossible connection to provider"
Connection KO to http://epm server or IP:9000/aps/APS : "Impossible connection to provider"
No success with the 2 solutions given in Not able to get Essbase Server list in Office with Smart View 11.1.2.1:
run the Configuration Utility and select Foundation -> Web Configuration : same issue
Export Shared services Registry with LCM : no Essbase LWA folder, and no datasource.xml after a full export of the registry.
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Essbase connection w.r.t Smartview and Excel add-in

donno if this is the right place for this thread, I thought planning experts are experienced with both smartview and excel add-ins
what is the protocol used behind the scene in both ways (HTTP, RMI, TCO/IP) and which one takes less resources and works faster
to serve better interms of performance while connected to essbase? that I know we add URL for conneceting to essbase thru aps for a
smartview essbase connection and we directly connect to essbase in essbase excel add-in connection.
any help is much appreciated!

I think Essbase Excel add-in connects through TCP/IP whereas Smartview connects via web services (http).
Excel add-in should be faster as it speaks directly with Essbase as opposed to Smartview which connects Essbase through another service (APS). But Smartview comes with its own advantages (i.e. better integration, smoother user experience etc.)

Unable to connect to essbase server through console

Getting the rror below
Error: 1042006: Network error [10061]: Unable to connect to [localhost:1423].
The client timed out waiting to connect to Analytic Services Agent using TCP/IP.
Check your network connections.
Also make sure that server and port values are correct
I am able to connect and work through esscmd, though.

Hi,
This is one of known issues. Firstly, ensure that agent and required services are up and running properly. As you said, you were able to connect through MAXL/ESSCMD , it means essbase server( analytical services must be up and running).
Next, check whether your admininstration services server is running.
If all s well, try NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT .One can find informatino regarding this in tech reference

Essbase connection error via smart view

Hi All
I'm currently experiencing difficulties connection to essbse via smart view. The application has two databases. All users can connect to one of the databases but not the other one. The essbase server password has not been changed. The version we are currently using is 11.1.1.3
this is the error from the smart view log file.

Hi,
I got this error while connecting to the Essbase server through EAS Console. To resolve this issue I just removed the Essbase server from the Enterprise view and added the server again. After that I was able to access the Essbase applications.
But I am not sure about smart view. Also make sure that you are using the correct login credentials to login into the server.

Web Analysis Essbase connection

Hi all,
I have an already created Web Analysis Essbase connection and I want to change the Essbase server for the connection. If I go to Workspace->Explore, then Tools->Manage Database Connections, I can only see the Reporting connections in order to edit them. How do I edit the properties of Web Analysis connections?

You can edit them through WA studio, depends on where you saved the db connections, usually in the databases folder, right click the connection and edit.

Loading text through Smartview

Is it possible to load text or data in a date format through smartview with an HsSetValue formula?

Don't tell anyone but I loaded data to Actual scenario during my first Essbase project. :) I didn't really think nightly data load to actuals would clear out my entries, but of course it did. I started loading it to another scenario. I believe it was Actual_Adj or something like that. I am pretty sure yours is another issues, but I still wanted to share.

From experience we prefer to use Private connections especially if you have reports that use Smart View formulas (e.g hsget etc). These formulas have a reference to the data source connection name meaning that users who have not configured this particular private data source connection won't be able to refresh the report.

Problem with socket connection through Java Embedding...

We are trying to create a simple socket connection to a socket server through BPEL PM using the Java Embedding component.
BPEL Process : Client makes an asynchronous request. Passes an input variable. The input variable is sent to the Server Program through a socket connection through the Java embedding component.
Server: We are running a simple Socket Server program from command prompt.
The code below works fine as long as we do not try to receive a response from the server (Commented Code).
If we uncomment the code and try to receive a response, it refuses to create an instance for the BPEL Process. And sometimes restarts the BPEL Server.

Well, you could install the drivers to the wireless printer in you other computers.

How can i airplay from my mac connected through ethernet to an aple tv 2 on wifi

Hi everyone..
im having troubles using Airplay on my mac.. i connect my mac to the internet and home network using an ethernet connection to my router (non apple branded router) .. my apple tv 2 is connected to my home wifi network from the same router.. when i first set up my apple tv.. i was able to see the Airplay icon on itunes and it would let me Airplay media from my mac to my apple tv.. however.. it disconnects after a little while.. same thing with viewing my itunes library from apple tv.. i was able to detect my shared library from the apple tv.. i was able to play some media but then it disconnected after some time.. but now.. the Airplay icon doesnt show up in itunes anymore.. and i cant see my shared library from my apple tv neither.. ive looked around for a solution and followed the tip to turn the ipv6 off.. it worked for some time but now the problem is back..
i know the obvious solution is to connect my mac to the same wireless network as my apple tv.. but i would like to keep it connected through ethernet..

I wouldn't say that was the obvious answer at all, my Mac is connected by ethernet and 6 of my 7 Apple TV's are connected by wifi, I haven't had any of your problems. The problem is most likely on your network.
Intermittent problems
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
Consistent Problems
A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.

Another frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is security software, in many cases configuring it correctly, disabling it or even uninstalling it can help, but in some cases the security software can cause problems that simply reconfiguring, disabling or uninstalling cannot reverse.
If you are consistently unable to activate AirPlay, have tried all the steps in this article and have security software installed on your system, you might benefit from contacting its provider or participating in any online forums they run to discuss the matter with them.
