Essbase formula extract
Hi,
I am trying to extract metadata from an Essbase application into an Excel file, but when it extracts the formula, because the formula has several lines, the formula doesn't get extracted into a single column in the target Excel file.
Can anyone help me fix that?

ODI Error: While running interface to perform Essbase ouline extraction
Hi All,
I have requiremnet to extract all dimensions from Essbase outline and put them into Flat Files.
I created Essbase and Flatfile model and reversed successfully.
I created interfaces for each dimension for extracting its metadata to flat file.
All the interfaces ran successfully except for Entity dimension and Cube_Data.
When i ran interface to extract Entity dimension i got the following error in "4 - Loading - SS_0 - Extract Metadata" step
com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: Extract operation failed : Cannot perform cube view operation. Essbase Error(1012703): Unknown calculation type [0] during the dynamic calculation. Only default agg/formula/time balance operations are handled.
Please help me resolve this.

This is a problem on the essbase side of things and not an ODI issue, it usually means you have a problem with a formula in the outline of your database.

QUESTION: Essbase data extraction and Installing ODI Agent??
For extracting data from Essbase cubes, ODI has "LKM Hyperion Essbase DATA to SQL".
We can use (1). ReportScript, or (2). MDX-query, or (3). CalcScript
For data-extraction using CalcScript, ODI Agent must be running on the same server as the Essbase server.
Does anyone know if there is a need for ODI Agent on the Essbase machine if we use MDX-query method for data-extraction?
We would like to avoid installing ODI Agent for Essbase data-extraction.

One related question. To move data from one Essbase cube to another Essbase cube using ODI Interface, Can we do it efficiently through MDX-query?
We want to avoid Replicated-partitioning OR CalcScripts, if possible.

I am trying to write a run-rate formula in the scenario dimension that will accumulate values within a month at the daily level. My desired result would look something like:
Actual Run-Rate
Feb1 50 50
Feb2 50 100
Feb3 50 150
Feb28 50 1400
Mar1 50 50
The time dim is Yr, Season, Qtr, Mth, Wk, Day.
My formula is (for Feb): @sumrange(Actual, "Feb1":@Currmbr("Time"))
The formula validates successfully in the formula editor but when I attempt to retrieve data into Excel and error is thrown:
error executing formula for [runrate] (line0) invalid argument for function [@To]
I have tried several combinations and cannot get the cumulation to start over when the month changes. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my desired result set without redesigning my application?

You could also go with @Prior to accomplish this, but

FX-270 No Formula Extract from FXTRANS error
Hi there,
We have been trying to run the SPRUNCONVERSION logic in our Interco application, but keep getting this error message. I have searched the forum and the only person who has posted this error fixed it by making sure the LC currency had a type of L - but my application already has this!
The FX logic is working in the Finance application, so it's not a System Library problem, and the settings in my System Constants file for the Interco application look correct.
Any ideas as to what else I can check?

It will tell you how to debug Business rule.
I suspect your rate doesn't exist for the last year.
Please try to put the last year rate. (If you will not use last year rate, just put it as 1, Business Rule will just check whether the records is there or not.)

Problems with extract metadata from Essbase with ODI 10.1.3.5.
Hello there, I have a really annoying problem. I have 2 dimensions in essbase v11 with a space on it, (Itens Financeiros and Centros Financeiros), and this is causing a problem when I try to extract the metadata from essbace to a table. the problem occurs some times in 3 - loading - ss_0 - begin essbase metadata extract and some times in 4 - loading ss_0 - extract metadata, but in this 2 steps the error is the same:
unknown member name [itens] in function [@idescendants]. I see in Johns blog someone sayng to add a '/"' in the front and at the end of the member filter criteria to allow ODI to parse the space as part of the member name. but I really don't understand this. Someone can helpme with this? Thanck you.It doesn't matter, I am able to replicate with an older version of the essbase adaptor...

If you download patch - Patch 8785893: ORACLE DATA INTEGRATOR 10.1.3.5.2_02 ONE-OFF PATCH
It is easy to install just a matter of copying a jar file over an existing one in the \oracledi\drivers directory.
It should resolve the issue.

ODI Scenario fails to extract data from Essbase

We are running ODI 10.1.3.6.0. When we run a scenario it fails when trying to export data from Essbase. I am pretty new to ODI and can't seem to find the information to fix this error. Thanks in advance for your help. Below is the error.

Error while extracting data from essbase
Hi All,
Now I'm tring to extract data from essbase by ODI, and at the sametime, I need to do some transformations, such as join with other relational tables or flat files to get more information about metadata. But unfortunately, once I add join into the interface, an error occurs. And it works fine if I extract directly (with no joins).
Is there any other way except using staging table? Our data vloume is large, using staging table will waste lots of storages.

Appriciated!Extract the essbase data to a staging area and then do the transformations in another interface.
The adaptor needs to extract the data first.

Problem using the value of the variable in the KM options - Essbase Extract
Hi,
I am able to extract the data from Hyperion Essbase using the report script present in D:\ODIHome\oracledi\demo\hyperion.
Instead of hardcoding the absolute file path in LKM options, I have requirement to use the value of variable, PIPHome and form the file path.
So in LKM Options I gave Extraction Query File path as #GLOBAL.PIPHome \oracledi\demo\hyperion\extract.rep
Its not able extract the data and throwing following exception.............Please help me in using the variable value in KM options. Thanks.

If you are going to use variable as one of the options then what you can do is create a package.
Drag your variable on to the package and set or declare it.
Then drag your interface on to the package.
Now when you execute the package it should make use of the variable.

Can I extract metadata from planning or only for essbase? If I can from planning, how can I do it? And why when I extract metadata from essbase, it extract the members that are never share in Store? It always put S (Stored) .

For information :
I use an reportscript which extract 400 000 records. I think that the problem comes from the staging area. How to modify size of the management of the memory?
I don't have this problem when i extract just 2 000 records for exemple.

Are you using a local or a defined agent?
Are you using the memory engine as the staging area.
Anyway you can increase the memory being used by the JVM depending on the above.

Anyone have any luck exporting Essbase (BSO) hierarchy attribute information? I have the Essbase Dimension extraction working, but getting an error on the Attribute process.

So I know the extraction of Attribute hierarchies is possible. The cool thing was SIS created its own table to do this and it was user friendly. Very cool extraction utility -- far superior than the OLAP Extraction tool.
Has anyone had success using ODI to extract Attribute Dimension Hierarchies? I hope so because I'd like to use ODI to do this step. Was hoping to see a John Goodwin blog on this or something by Cameron Lackpour.
We're also installing Patch 12529600: ORACLE DATA INTEGRATOR 10.1.3.6.8 CUMULATIVE PATCH this weekend and maybe that might help get beyond the erorr we're hitting.
