Is Essbase 11.1.1.2 is cerified to use CENTOS 5.X? Please Suggest

CentOS its just the Red Hat recompiled. So, it will probably work.
The point is: even if it works, it isn't certified (as Celvin pointed out).
If your server is just for tests, i don't think it will be a problem.
If you are planning to deploy in production, i really don't recommend. Any problem you have, Oracle won't support.

AFAIK CentOS is never on the certification list (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.html), but because it's so closely related to RHEL and OL, you can take their certifications as indicative.
So RHEL 5x and OL 5x are certified, so you'll find CentOS will probably work just fine -- but if you have to raise a support case you may have problems because it won't be officially certified/supported.
You will probably need to specify -ignoreSysPrereqs when you run the OBIEE runInstaller

How to build the members in essbase based on levels using EAL

How to restrict the members to build the in essbase based on levels using EAL.
I've requirement, in one dimension, needs to build the one level1 member as level0 in essbase.
please let me know the procedure, if any one implemented or face similar.

there's no such functionality in EAL to create Essbase outlines based on levels. the only workaround to this is to use Mapping tables:
1- create the dimension in essbase with the desired HFM level 1 members as level 0.
2- set this specific dimension to mapping in your design grid within your EAL Bridge
3- create the SQL Mapping table and start mapping those members from HFM to Essbase.

Manually set up the essbase 11 client (without using the fusion installer)

Hi All,
is it possible to install the Essbase 11 client without using the Fusion Installer?
I tryed to copy the "bin" and "locale" directory from an exisiting installation and set up the ARBORPATH environment variable - without success.
Did I miss anything? Maybe some Registry entries? Or isn't it possible to set up the essbase client manually?
Every answer would be appreciated.

I have an application which uses the C-API (essapinu.dll, essotlnu.dll, ...) and I want to test it with diffrent Essbase Client Versions against diffrent Essbase Servers.

JCo Connector (jco.jar) version 2.1.8 certified for use against R/3 4.6c ?

I would like to know if SAP has certified the JCo connector version 2.1.8 for connecting with R/3 4.6c systems. The JCo connector is used by an iWay connector in an Oracle application server version 10.1.2.

the offical supported release by JCo 2.1.8 are listed on the given link above:

So this is a SAP product/technology we support always the highest version number. Have a look at SAP note 549268 under the chapter "Solution Support Strategy for SAP JCo" for official support statements.
Of course i cannot comment on the support level of the other vendors which are using this technology. If you want you can open a support call at SAP to get a more specific answer to your question.

What versions of Adobe Reader are certified for use in MS Windows 2012 RDS?

I have a MS Windows 2012 RDS (Remote Desktop Services, the new name of Terminal Services) environment. We are running Reader 11.08 now, and having extreme performance issues opening certain PDF documents, and we did not have this issue with earlier versions of Reader/ TS services. And we have tried turning off Protected Mode, Enhanced Security, to no effect.
So I have been tasked to ask - what versions of Reader are certified to work in 2012 RDS? We want to see if downgrading to an earlier version will help, but I need to know what versions will work in 2012 RDS. I see 10.01.4 available as an offline install; would that be the earliest? Previously, in Win 2003 TS, we used to use Reader v8 successfully.

Linux guy wants to install solaris 10 via nfs using centos as nfs server

well in linux when installing this way I simply copy the dvd install image to an nfs share (or do mount -o loop "isoimage" /nfsmountdir), copy the boot.iso so a cdrom and do a "linux askmethod" during install and then specify the nfs server and dir.
I want to learn sun and want to start by really understanding the install and how to set up slices etc. I would really like to do this using nfs using my centos box as the server as this method at least when installing linux is much mush faster.
so can I do this and if so what are the commands. I did see some documentation but it was for installing from a sun nfs server. but I need to install from the centos as the server. I already have the iso's for the 5 cdroms as well as the dvd image. if possible I would obviously like to use the dvd image.
thanks and remember I am a sun newbie (just bought my first solaris book this week so the more dummied down answer would be the best one for me). if it can be done could you give me the exact process.

The Sun network installer scripts only work on Solaris. So there's no instructions from Sun for configuring the daemons on Linux necessary to do the configuration.
There are some guides on the net, but I don't know of one that tells the whole story.
You might consider installing Solaris in a VM on the linux box, then configuring jumpstart on that. You could then see how the daemons on it are configured and replicate that configuration on the Linux machine.

For some unknown reason the datatypes of Essbase in topology manager were similar to Oracle's RDBMS.
I re-installed Essbase technology, I reversed engineered the outline again, and now it seems I made some progress. But, during the execution now of my interface I get the following error in integration step.

We are having a similar problem. We're using the IKM SQL to Hyperion Essbase (DATA) knowledge module. We are mapping the actual data to the field called 'Data' in the model. But it kicks everything out saying 'Unknown Member [Data] in Data Load', as if it's trying to read that field as a dimension member. We can't see what we missed in building the interface. I would think the knowledge module would just know that the Data field is, um, data; not a dimension member. Has anyone else encountered this?

Essbase server startup by using OPMN.

we are planning to start Essbase server by using OPMN.
Version: 11.1.2.1
Currently, we are using the below line code in our batch script to start Essbase server but we wanted to start the Essbase.
$ARBORPATH/bin/startEssbase.sh -b
I have gone thru docuemnt and came to know that , I need to use the below commnad to start Essbase server by using the below command.
opmnctl startproc ias-component=EssbaseInstanceName.
My question is here, can I keep the same line of code in my existing batch script to start the Essbase server ?
Did anyone one call the this (opmnctl startproc ias-component=EssbaseInstanceName) line of code in start up/batch scripts ? As we are implementing first time.
Please share your thoughts and sugguestions. your help highly appreciated.

Can you please let me know , Do we need to start OPMN on two Essbase servers or only one Essbase server. if it is on One server, how it will interact with other server.

Essbase Studio - Import Catalog using an automatic process

I'd like to make the process of importing Essbase Studio catalog more automatic in the customer environment. Instead of having to open Essbase Studio application every time I want to deploy a new version of the catalog ( either full or partial ), is there any way to export/import the catalog using a unix shell script or DOS command ?

I think the options will be quite limited for automating migrations until 11.1.2.3 where LCM supports Studio.

I represent a call center software editor, and are now preparing to answer with an integrator to a request for integration between our software and MySap CRM v4.0.
Our developpers plan to use ABAP for this integration.
We would like to get certified in the few months, but time will be too short for this project. I would like to know what are the Support and Maintenance terms concerning the integrated applications. Is there specific ( and short ) validation processes for the developments we will do ? Is there specific maintenance contracts ?

When I run the FM using SE37 manually, I am able to process the idoc into the receiving system. This should happen automatically.
I checked the partner profiles in receiving system and they appear to be fine. I generated the partner profiles using BD64 ( distribution model)
Is there a background process or event which would trigger this automatic process of triggering the FM at the port to transfer the idoc to receiving system?

Essbase error msg while using Excel add-in: data item found before member

We're encountering an Essbase error message "data item found before member" on 2 of 4 cubes. Has anyone else encountered this msg, and does anyone have an idea how to resolve it. It occurs on multiple machines in development and testing environments.

As dougadams said, some members can be converted by Excel so that essbase no longer treats them as labels. Typically this includes numeric member names (i.e. accounts) and dates. I find the dates to be more of an issue than numeric member names, because it typically changes the date format as well. Either way, using a single quote as a prefix to the member name will tell Excel to treat it as a text entry, and hence a member/label to Essbase.The above is almost always the reason for the error you got. Of course, it's also possible that you really do have a numeric entry somewhere before your first 'data cell' in the template, especially if you did some manipulation of the template.

OBIEE 11g, Essbase 11.1.2 || Using UDA in OBIEE

I am trying to create a report with some UDA which have been imported in OBIEE.
The way that I do the report is an easy report to test the UDA.
Drag the generation of my dimension where I have UDAs, in filter I drag one of the 2 UDA that I have and I set the value as 1
The result is giving me an error as in the mdx query is not filtering by UDA, it is asking for a member which for sure doesn't exist in the metadata as it is a UDA.

Has someone had the same problem trying to create a report using UDA?

I have tried countless things. After putting in the EVALUATE statement in the Account dimension, I have tried dragging it in the prompts box, not dragging it in the prompts box, re-writing the EVALUATE statement several different ways and I still can't get this multi level filtering to work. Have you been successful with it ? If so, please post a picture of a report that has a drop down list of accounts that belong to different generations. At least I will know that it is possible to do it.
I have read elsewhere to look at the log called 'NQQery.log'. Have you ever used that log as a trouble shooting tool ?
