Essbase process started in background is going on "In Queue" State

Hello,
I am using 11.1.2.1. Any Essbase process started in background is going on "In Queue" State. And the process never starts.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Try the following steps..
1. Stop EAS
2. Delete all the contents of WebLogic temp folder
Location: EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE/../domains/EPMSystem/servers/EssbaseAdminServices0/tmp/ --> delete all the content under this folder
3. Start EAS server
Hope it helps...

  • Force redraw before background processes start?

    I am working on adding images to an HBox. After the user chooses the images from their hard drive, they are resized, JPEG-encoded then uploaded to the server.
    The problem is that the selected images don't show up in their Image controls in my HBox until several seconds into the process.  I want them to show immediately so the user knows it worked, and they can keep going while the app runs the background processes.
    I have tried several things, including placing event listeners for when the Image is added to the HBox:
    hboxThumbnails.addEventListener(ChildExistenceChangedEvent.CHILD_ADD,updateHBox);
    In the listener I have tried invalidateDisplayList, validateNow and invalidateProperties.  I have also tried calling these functions in other locations in the code prior to it starting the background processing code.
    None of my attempts work. Typically the images show up in the HBox about halfway through the uploading process. (5-20 seconds depending on number of images selected)
    I have had other instances where I need to force a redraw/refresh of a certain component while code is running, and I always face a similar problem.  Is there any way to prioritize a redraw?
    Thanks.
    Paul

I can still hit ctrl-L to get a command line I can type into, but if something happens with the previous background process, it will still show up in the terminal. This makes it difficult to type and use this terminal window any longer. Very frustrating.
    What kind of output is shown - errors, warnings?
    HuckleSmothered wrote:I've noticed that this also happens when booting up. The daemons start but I'll have a login prompt at the command line before the daemons state if they have started. Hence, I have to type my login after the text for this section of startup script. Very odd.
    I've seen another thread with this problem, I'll thy to find it.
    Edit: Here it is, see the screenshot: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=129306 No solution yet.

    Essbase 64-bit - Release 11.1.2 (ESB11.1.2.1.0B154)

    I am an infrastructure idiot (I have all kinds of other idiocy available as well -- I am versatile), but I found:
    http://troubleshooot.wordpress.com/2010/05/26/essbase-login-is-not-working/
    To my ignorant eyes, this looks like some kind of *nix-centric issue.
    If the post doesn't help, perhaps one of the infrastructure guys will chime in.

  • Function called IN BACKGROUND TASK goes to work process DIA, not BGD

    I'm calling a function IN BACKGROUND TASK
    In SM50, I see it running in a DIA work process.
    I want it to run in a BGD work process.
    Can this be done?  If so, how?  If not, why not?

    Hi...
    It looks like, it will always run in DIA process and not Background process...I am not sure that we can change the work process
    Check the below link..
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_40b/helpdata/pt/69/c24f864ba111d189750000e8322d00/content.htm
    What is written in the link is...
    "Background updates (CALL FUNCTION IN BACKGROUND TASK) represent a variant of remote function call that is synchronous with the end of a transaction (COMMIT WORK). In background updating, an update is run in another dialog work process that may be in the same or in another application server and R/3 System. Because such updates run in their own LUWs, they may start only after all critical updates have been completed. Otherwise, it would not be possible to roll back background changes in the event of an error in another update component. "
    IF you get the answer of whether we can change the work process then please let us know...

    Make sure you quit all your applications before shutting down.
    And try resetting the SMC.

    Diagnostics Information: ℹ️
        Jan 29, 2015, 09:18:13 AM    Self test - passed

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
    You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1207 ' 0.5 0.25 1000 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 1 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1000 80 20 500 300 85 25 20480 1024 20     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
            Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
            Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
            The results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
    The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
    Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it. Then go to the next step.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I may not agree with them.

  • How to start a background engine

    When I use wfbkg.sql to start a background engine, it says wf_engine.Background has not been identified. What should I do? And is it necessary to use background engines?
    thanks,
    Alice

    Hi,
    What version of workflow are you using? What user are you running the script as?
    In standalone workflow, login as your workflow user (default user is owf_mgr but this can change during installation), and you should be able to run it. Either that or just run
    exec wf_engine.backgroundfrom SQL*Plus.
    In Apps, you should schedule the job through concurrent manager as Workflow Administrator.
    You only need to run a background engine if you have any processes which are not going to timeout, defer to the background, or get stuck (where the correct path cannot be determined). If you aren't deferring or having timeouts, then you don't need to run a background engine at all - my first multi-million pound Workflow implementation didn't have any background engines, but this is more the exception than the norm.

  • Scheduling of process chain with background job

    Hello All,
                  I have scheduled the process chains through background jobs. I have copied the meta chain and created seven background jobs that is from Monday till sunday. The problem is most frequently the job gets cancelled with the message
    Process CHAIN, variant PAA1_GS001 is not scheduled waiting for event RSPROCESS 44NRPDWZ7CQUJ92ATDTY6368H.
    This is the variant for the next process after the start process. I tried by giving merge active versions, but one day the background job runs fine , but the next day it gets cancelled.
    If anyone has faced this issue before kindly let me know.
    Regards,
    Karthik.

    Hi,
    It seems to be there may be in probelm in Varients, so create a separate Varient for each PC and then activate the PC and execute.

    Hi,
    Is your Database started properly?
    Since it seems that EPM components are not able to communicate with the Database.
    You can use the following steps to start Database [if Oracle]-
    1. START TNSLISTNER FIRST      --- cd <bin folder for the Oracle Database> AND THEN ./lsnrctl start
    2. START EMCTL Database        --- cd <bin folder for the Oracle Database> AND THEN ./emctl start dbconsole
    8. START DATABASE              --- cd <bin folder for the Oracle Database> AND THEN ./sqlplus
    9. Log on to                --- https://<IP address for Database server>:1158/em and click on startup and provide the necessary detailsFollow the steps to start the database if database not starting properly

  • [SOLVED] How to get NetworkManager start on background during boot?

    NetworkManager has always taken relatively long time to start during boot, presumably waiting for wlan to connect.
    $ systemd-analyze blame
    7.682s NetworkManager.service
    Previously I was able to get it to start on background by removing /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/NetworkManager.service
    This prevented multi-user.target from waiting for NM to start and it would continue to connect on background while my boot finishes.
    However, after upgrade to networkmanager-0.9.10.0-2 that doesn't seem work any more.
    If I remove the .service file from multi-user.target.wants/, NetworkManager doesn't start during boot at all.
    enabling NetworkManager.service creates these symlinks:
    # systemctl enable NetworkManager
    Created symlink from /etc/systemd/system/dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service to /usr/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service.
    Created symlink from /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/NetworkManager.service to /usr/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service.
    Created symlink from /etc/systemd/system/dbus-org.freedesktop.nm-dispatcher.service to /usr/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager-dispatcher.service.
    looks like enabling any other basic systemd unit links the .service file to multi-user.target.wants/ as well..
    How can I enable NetworkManager.service during boot without multi-user.target.wants/, and get it to start on background again?
    any ideas appreciated :)

    Okay, looks like this can be resolved by simply changing the NetworkManager.service type from dbus to forking.
    $ systemd-analyze blame
    173ms NetworkManager.service
    Here's the modified service file if anyone's interested:
    place it in /etc/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service
    [Unit]
    Description=Network Manager
    Wants=network.target
    Before=network.target
    [Service]
    Type=forking
    PIDFile=/var/run/NetworkManager.pid
    BusName=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/NetworkManager --pid-file=/var/run/NetworkManager.pid
    # NM doesn't want systemd to kill its children for it
    KillMode=process
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    Alias=dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service
    Also=NetworkManager-dispatcher.service
    You need to disable NetworkManager.service before creating the file and enable it after so that systemd links the file from /etc/systemd instead of /usr/lib/systemd,
    there may be simpler way but I can't be bothered to go through systemd manuals any more.
    Note that this will probably break any systemd .service that actually requires network, although that was the case with my previous workaround as well.
    I won't guarantee this will work for you and won't set your machine on fire. If you have issues, simply remove the file and re-enable to go back to default

  • Contracts - 'Document still being processed in the background; try again la

    Hello,
    When trying to make adjustments to multiple contracts we are receiving the error message 'Document is still being processed in the background; try again later.'  We have tried again later to no effect.
    Ultimately, this means that these contracts (30 altogether) cannot be altered in anyway i.e. held, deleted, released, approved and it means that they just sit there.
    This also has implications when raising another contract to replace these contracts.  For example if you want to use the same vendor this will cause great confusion for our users when trying to select the correct correct to spend money against when raising purchase orders.  Often the result is the user selecting the wrong contract.
    Have you any suggestions on why this error message is appearing?
    Many Thanks,
    Sarah

  • File operation process at the background

    Tell me please is background copying in explorere is action by design ? As well as confirmations on delete/remove - they are appearing at the background too.
    For example i am at some folder, i choose some iso and press ctrl+c, then i press ctrl+v and what i see ? Nothing - process started at the background!

    Roger, he's talking about where the dialogs appear - BEHIND the other windows.
    Yes, Windows 8.1 has "pop behind" Explorer dialogs.  It has been happening since Windows 8 came out.
    It CANNOT be by (good) design, though I am starting to wonder whether it's because of a lack of design.
    When you REALLY learn to appreciate the gravity of this is when something like this happens:
    You drag and drop a file to copy it and one of the dialogs pops behind
    and prompts you for something (e.g., "do you want to overwrite").  You don't happen to notice its button light up on the Taskbar so you think the copy succeeded, then you do a bunch of work on the assumption that you're using the new
    file, then only LATER do you realize it's still waiting for you to answer, to complete the copy.
    A few weeks ago I went most of the way through a software release process and nearly released the old software again because of this.
    It really does need to be fixed.

  • How to have Weblogic and BAM process run in background

    I ssh to the Weblogic (also the BAM) server via putty and use below command to start the weblogic and BAM:
    /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh
    /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1
    And then I have no way to have the weblogic and BAM run in backgroup as it needs to ask me for login and password. I cannot close the ssh connection neither otherwise the weblogic and BAM processes will die
    Clay

    Hi Clay,
    Both these points can be easily handled.
    To start admin server enter the below command with the &. This & will make the process run in background.
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh &
    If you want the logs to be redirected to some file then you can use a nohup as given below
    nohup . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh &
    Same holds good for bam serevr also
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 &
    OR
    nohup . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 &
    It will respond to you with the process-id, you can just hit an enter and safely close the putty session while the server is still up & running.
    To stop the same, in a new putty session you can enter the below. Here you need not(will not) give &
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/stopWebLogic.sh weblogic welcome1 t3://hostname:port
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/stopManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 t3://hostname:port
    Password:
    As you see above we are not passing user-id/password while starting the server. We need to create a file named boot.properties and place it in /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/AdminServer/security directory. security directoy will not be present, you have to create it.
    Contents of boot.properties file will be only 2lines as below
    username=weblogic
    password=welcome1
    On next startup server will encrypt the password.
    Same boot.properties file has to be created in /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/bam_server/security location.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Thanks,
