Essbase security Migration from native mode to external authentication

Hi!!
I want some guidance on setting up security, all the users are currently in Native user mode and Native groups.
Now we want to migrate to external mode, current version of hyperion is 11.1.1.3, any steps to follow in
this direction would be really helpful.
What is the best way of migrating huge user base from native directory to setting up for external authentication,
this is the first time move from native to external authentication, If anyone who has done this will be helpful.
steps to setup , maxl based migration will be helpful or utility based.
Thanks

When you say native mode do you mean that that essbase security is in native mode and you want to convert to shared services security mode,or do you mean you are using shared services securtiy with native users and you want to use an external directory like MSAD.
For your question ::
Yes the first piece is correct, our security is in native mode.
and we want to convert to shared services security mode,
The request involves moving from essbase native mode to Shared services native user mode (moving all the existing users, groups and existing provisioning)
The next stage is moving from Shared services native user mode to external directory. (moving all the existing users, groups and existing provisioning)
Your input will guide me in the direction.
Thanks

  • Direct security migration from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.3

    Gurus,
My environment has HFR reports, FDM and HFM applications.
    Source: 9.3.3
    Target: 11.1.2.3
Is there a way to migrate security directly from the source to target??
Let me know if there are any ways possible

    Hi
We have done the same exact migration between these versions. For HFM we used HFM Copy app utility and hssmigrate.bat , we did direction migration of HFR and for FDM applications we migrated directly the RDMBs and connected to it.
    We faced below issues
    1. All Intercompany transacations were not visible (Date format between the two enviroments differed , in 11.1.2.3 more stringent format was expected but in 933 format did not matter)
    2. Post all/unpost all options were not posting all the entries together (There was a patch for this 11.1.2.3.500)
    3. SOAP error when opening HFM application (We were not able to fix this but workaround was found)
4 FDM locations had some minor issue , I don't remember exactly.
    Thanks

  • HT4889 Migrate from MacBook Pro to external hard drive

I have a MacBook Pro with no video, external monitor won't work, it's the nvdia chip. Before working on it, I want to back up the Apps, Settings etc. I have the data backed up.  I tried to migrate to my mac mini but it doesn't have enough space so I thought I could migrate to my external hard drive, but I can't see the external... Here are my 3 inital questions:
Can you Migrate from Macbook to external drive....if so, how...migration asst. or disk utility????
When you Migrate from one drive to another, does it overwrite the files on the new drive, in this case my Mac Mini
Can you clone or disk image to an external hard drive, if so, how?

    A clone should work.

  • Migration from Character Mode Forms 4 - 6

I'm currently using Pre-Developer 2000, Some Oracle Forms 4 through 6. All in character mode for RF (radio frequency) devices in a warehouse. I'm concerned about migration. I've read that the new forms, post 6i releases will not support character mode. What would be the best migration strategy to move forward? The devices only work for character mode, NO GUI.
    Thanks for you assistance,
    Chase

You are correct in that Oracle 9i Forms is a GUI Web only release.
Forms 6i still supports chrarcter mode runtime and will be supported and patched through 2006 with extended support through 2008.
This gives you 7 years to figure out an upgrade stategy, hopefully that gives you enough time.

  • LMS 4 Migration from Evaluation Mode

    Hi Team
I have a LMS 4.2, The Server is running in Evaluation mode right now... So I´m going to Instal the new Licenses file on it.
The correct procedure that I have is:
To update to a new license from the Licensing page:
Step 1 Select Admin > System > License Management.
The License Information page displays the license name, license version,  status of the license, and the expiration date of the license.
    Step 2 Click Update.
Step 3 Enter the path to the new license file in the License field, or click Browse to locate the new file.
    Step 4 Click OK.
The system verifies whether the license file is valid, and updates the  license. The updated licensing information appears in the License  Information page. Otherwise, an error message is displayed.
To return to the License Information page, click Cancel.
I need to known if before upload the new Licenses File, should I uninstall the Evaluation Licenses, someone told me that I need to clear out all the *.lic files ?  That´s correct if yes please let me known the procedure.
    Cheers
    Bruno Rangel

I've gotten the advice both ways from the TAC. I can confirm that I have a working LMS 4.2 installation with permanent licenses that did not clear out the evaluation licenses first. So I'm taking my second TAC answer as more authoritative.
If you need to remove old licenses, it's a bit complex - you need to go into the shell, navigate to the license directory, stop the LicenseServer daemon, remove or move the .lic file and put the new ones and and then restart the daemon.
The GUI should allow you to avoid all of that and it is not necessary to remove the old lic file(s).
You do need to ensure that the permanent licenses you are given are properly generated. The licensing team tool has had some issues with properly creating LMS licenses. If you open your permanent license in a text editor, make sure it specifies "LMS cisco 4.1 permanent" in the body (and NOT "LMS cisco 1.0 permanent"). The latter will be accepted by the GUI but not result in proper registration with the daemon.

  • Migrate User from Classic mode to Forms Authentication in SharePoint 2013

    Hi All,
I have upgraded a SharePoint 2010 classic mode site to SharePoint 2013 claims authentication. I have executed the command MgrateUser($true) and the user account is updated to Claims mode and I am able to login to the site.
Now I have extended the site to use forms authentication against Active Directory. How do I update the accounts to Form Authentcation mode using Powershell, is there any command available.
    Thanks & Regards
    pankaj

Okay, I would suggest instead to use Web Application Proxy and ADFS 3.0 (using an NTLM connection to SharePoint). This way you get your forms experience for those users who require it (or all, your choice) and you do not have to change anything with SharePoint.

  • Migrating from Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2

    Dear All,
Can somebody please provide me a detailed method to migrate 9.3.1 to 11.1.2 as per below
    1. Hyperion Essbase migration with Partitions
    2. Hyperion Planning migration with Business Rules
3.Shared services migration MSAD is used as external authentication
    3. HAL migration
Hyperion 11.1.2 installation would be on a fresh server with SQl server 2005.
    Kindly send your response.
    Thanks
    MP

First of all I would spend some time searching this forum about migrations, they have been covered so many times and it is not worth going over and over it again.
Business rules you can export from EAS and then import.
Planning you can copy the schema/db and then migrate (search the planning forum as this has been also been covered many times)
HAL is not supported anymore and it is worth considering moving to using ODI if you have complicated integrations.
    Cheers

  • Safely copying files from Target Disk Mode to External USB. Advice?

Just got a new iMac and transferred my system and important files to it from my old iMac. However, a partition on my old iMac has files I want to move to my new iMac so they can be included in Time Machine backups while others I want to move to another external hard drive since I have physical copies of most of those files elsewhere.
I can connect my old iMac to the new via Target Disk mode and copy the critical files from Mac-to-Mac easily and quickly enough. What I want to know is if I’m safe to copy the other files from the TDM-connected iMac to a USB drive.
I’ve read that having other devices connected to your Mac while another Mac is connected via TDM can result in corrupted files. Is this true? Is it unsafe to copy files from a TDM Mac to an external USB drive?
If it is safe, is it best to connect the USB drive to the new Mac or to the old one while it’s in TDM? There’s a lot of data so I’m wondering about transfer times. One method would see files going over Firewire through the new iMac to a USB drive, while the other would go from TDM-connected Mac directly to a USB drive connected to its own USB port. That is:
TDM iMac > New iMac > USB Drive connected to New iMac
    or
TDM iMac > USB Drive connected to TDM iMac
I have limited space on my internal drive and I also don’t want to copy-hop from TDM iMac to New iMac then copy from New iMac to USB drive. I'd like to go directly from old drive to external USB drive if it's safe.
So I’m looking for advice on the best way to connect devices in order to cut down on copying time and number of copies, and to do it safely without corrupting data. Any advice is appreciated!

I've used Migration Assistant already to move all of my immediately necessary data and settings over. This other data was on a separate partition and I'm unable to copy all of the data over to my new drive due to lack of space.
Things are complicated by the fact that I need to change some of my externals over to Time Machine ready backups. Previously I was using 1 TB and a 2 TB drive for TM and another 2 TB drive for general backups/archiving. Now I need to juggle things around so that both 2 TB drives are for TM and the 1 TB is used for archiving.
An important point I should have mentioned is that I can't use my old iMac normally due to a GPU problem that seizes the system up. This is the reason I can't just copy stuff directly from old iMac to external USBs.
I'm interested to know if what I described above is safe and if there are any time savings or benefits for copying through my new iMac or connecting the externals directly to the old iMac in TDM.

  • "Software Usage Metrics initialize failed" error when open Report Manager, after moving ReportServer from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012 (Native Mode)

I've asked this question in SQL Server Upgrade forume, I'm asking here as well:
    Your help is highly appreciated!
After migrating ReportServer db from 2008 to 2012, when access Report Manager throughhttp://myserver:80/Reports, I got the error below:
ui!ReportManager_0-3!11d8!02/04/2013-15:19:12:: e ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed
    The process is below:
•I successfully installed SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) Enterprise as a Native Mode on a server who runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit).
•I restored "ReportServer2008To2012" and "ReportServer2008To2012TempDB" in SSRS 2012 from the db files backed up in SQL 2008. In SSRS 2008, I have SSRS Model, ad-hoc reports based on model, and I also have canned reports built through BIDS
    report server project.
•I reconfigured both databases' Compatibility level to SQL Server 2012(110) from SQL Server 2008(100).
•I configured SSRS through Reporting Services Configuration Manager as below:
      > I chosen "Use built-in account:" as Service Account
    > In "Database" tab, I selected "Choose an existing report server database" and choose "ReportServer2008To2012" db, I used "Windows Authentication" (my login has the System Administrator priviledge). I got all 4 parts
success: Verifying database sku = Success; Generating rights scripts = Success; Applying connection rights = Success; Setting DSN = Success.
    > I went to "Scale-out Deployment" to check if the initializing succeed, I found nothing there.
Here are what I did from different approaches:
A •I went to "Encryption Keys" and restored the key I backed up from SSRS 2008, after retoring, I got two initialized instances: One is on my current server (SSRS 2012), the other one is from the old server (SSRS 2008).
I deleted the old one(SSRS 2008) through "Remove Server" action and kept the one on my current server(SSRS 2012).
After I restart SSRS service, and tried to connect Report Manager, I got "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details."
I checked the log file, the error is actually "ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed"
B •I also tried to "Delete Encrypted Content" and did see the SSRS was initialized through checking it on "Scale-out Deployment", however when I tried to open Report Manager, I got the same error.
Anyone had the same issue? Any solution? Thanks in advance!

  • Why parameters stopped to working - Case SSRS on native mode migrated to SQL Server 2014

We had SQL Server 2008 Reporting Service on Native mode. We had hyperlink including date parameters in Intranet. When you click the link, you get report opened with correct date filtering.
We have created new SQL Server 2012 Reporting Server environment. We have migrated reports there. However when clicking hyperlink, we don't get report filtered by days.
Why paratemeters are not working anymore? Is there something to configure?

    Kenny_I

    Hi Kenny_I,
Have you migrated all reports from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012, including the drill-through report? As per my understanding, I think this issue can be caused drill-through report couldn’t be accessed in the new environment or the report had been changed. Please
make sure the drill-through report works well in the new environment. We can directly render the drill-through report with the Parameter values @EventInfo=maindata, @DayLimit1=10.6.2014 12:12:45 and @DayLimit2=10.6.2014 12:31:10 to check the report.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Is it possible to migrate from Hyperion essbase ver 6 to Hyperion Ver 11?

    Hi Hyperion geeks,
is it possible that Migrate from Hyperion essbase ver 6 to Hyperion Ver 11. if yes then pls let me know how we can do it????
    reg,
    abhishek

    Hi,
We're finishing our migration from 6.2 to 11.1.1.3.
Of course won't recommend to migrate directly... they will recommend going through different steps (v7, V9...) => useless I think.
    Here what we did :
    - Installed v11 (new server)
    - copied objects from v6 to v11, tested and validated objects under v11
    - for .sec, recreated the app/databases first then copied the v6 .sec on v11 server. Of course your server have to be installed with native securities then you may push to shared services.
    - if you don't care about changing password you could handle it with maxl extracts or secman (but I had issues with secman).
Finally it's just like any migration

  • How do I migrate from a former user account on an external drive after a clean install?

This question has been partially answered before but not to my satisfaction and, from what I've found, not for Mountain Lion.
My MBPr was running fine for a week after I transfered my User account to an external drive. After some reorganization I decided to move the acount to a different external drive. I blundered and, for whatever reason, was unable to log in to any account on my MBPr. Not even my backup account - which suprised me. (I tried repairing disks, permissions, etc...) I tried to resolve it on the phone with Apple to no avail. Finally, I gave up. I booted into recovery and did a reinstall. After 12 hours I came back to find that it wasn't a clean reinstall. And I still couldn't log in to anything.
I then did an erase and reinstall. After another 12 hours I now have a clean install of Mountain Lion on my MBPr. I have an external drive with my former working user directory (Home:Users/mrmoose) on it. (BTW, It is LARGER than my internal SSD drive, it is not bootable, AND I have no backup of it in Time Machine format.)
My current user account is Macintosh HD:Users/bullwinkle
    1) Is there a way to "reclaim" my user account on the external drive - possibly without even copying or migrating?
    2) Can I copy the contents of bullwinkle (excluding some of my folders under Documents so it fits) to Macintosh HD Users/bullwinkle? Including the Library folder? I have audio plugins, etc...
I'd still like my User directory on an external drive. But I will settle for keeping it on the internal drive. I just want my info back.
Why, oh, why does Migration Assistant require your data to be in TIME MACHINE format only - why can one not migrate from a full copy on an external drive? Why can't it look at the darn thing and say, "Hey, that's a copy of an OSX User directory. I can migrate data from that."?
I would greatly appreciate a detailed response. THANK YOU. Lama Out.

~/Library is probably the one you don't want to move back because it may bring the issues back along with it.
All your own data you can drag & drop. You can drag the contents of any folder Movies, Music, Pictures, Documents (or as much as you want).
Rather than try to replace the Library you can take ~/Library/Application Support, Mail, Safari and any other folders you need.
To access your hidden ~/Library folder go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library".
Then you can drag it to the Sidebar for easy access.

  • Migration from an external hard drive

I am going to buy a new hard drive for my MacBook. I love the computer, but I just need a lot more space. I'm wondering if it's possible to "migrate" from my old computer to my new one. What I would do is copy my old Mac hard drive to my external hard drive, then "migrate" over to my new hard drive once they installed in the new one in my MacBook.
Is this possible? What other suggestions would you have for making a smooth transition to a new hard drive?

You know I am surprised to learn it does not have a firewire port....my husband bought it for me and I didn't realize. Just USB ports. It is a new aluminum Macbook 13" 10.5.5. I guess the main things I want to recover are my photos. I can open the drive and access all my files but it won't let me access the pictures. Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

  • TS1963 Migrating from Time Machine onExternal Disk,  Why won't Migration Assistant see my USB Connected external disk drive?

I had to format my internal disk drive on my MacBook Pro, and reload Mountain Lion 10.8.3.   The startup assistant could not see my external disk drive with the Time Machine backup files.  After many tries I told it to skip restoring the files and let it boot up.  I was able to see my 1 TByte external drive and could see the Time Machine files using Finder.
I started the Migration Assistant and told it to migrate from Time Machine Files on an external drive.  It also did not see the backup drive.  The only drive icon it showed was the Macintosh HD (my internal drive).
Isn't it supposed to show you the drive you are moving the files from?  I tried starting it and it looked like it was going to try to migrate the files from the internal drive (to where I don't know, back to itselfl?)  Or  do I just not understand.  Is it seeing the external drive, without identifying it (in the Migration Asst,)?
Really looks like it is going to back up  the internal HD with files that are on the internal HD and not from Time Machine.
I need to restore my files and have been told I need to do so using Migration Assistant and not Time Machine.
Help pleae and soon, need to get my taxes finished!
    Thanks!

I'm surprised that no one replied to this.  But I learned a few things that may be helpful to some of you with this same question.
When you restore data from an external disk drive with Time Machine files on it.  As you move through the dialog (in either System Startup or in the Migration Assistant) it will ask if you want to restore from an external disk with Time Machine files.  If you select this option, it will show you only one Icon.  You will expect to see your external disk drive listed as the source of the restore.  The icon that is shown will look like your ilnternal drive and will be labeled something like Macintosh HD.  That is not your internal drive, but is your backup drive.  It is labeled  the same as your internal disk drive and it is telling you that you have found the backup for your internal disk drive.
Would be nice if Apple would put a note of explanation about this as part of that dialog.  I wasted several hours trying to make it work  Finally I took a chance and selected the drive shown and it did restore my system.  I ended up with two users since I did it from Migration Assistant.  Had I done it from the System Startup, there would only be the one user.

  • How to export photos with editing from preview mode to hard drive and external hard drive?

I have applied changes to the photos in the preview mode. Unfortunately, I can't export them from preview mode to hard drive and external drives. Whenever the external drive is plugged, the changes I made are not applied to the photos on the both hard drives.

Sorry what do you mean Preview Mode? There is no Preview mode or module in LR. There is a Library and Develop module in LR. The Library module does have the ability to do some adjustments and the Develop module has all the image adjustments.
In any event to export an image you can either right click on it and select Export or when in the Library module you click the button that says Export.
