Essbase Smart View & Office 2007 Add-In

I am currently using Hyperion Essbase version 9.3.1. How do I install Smart View as I believe it comes with this version and also lso how do I install the Hyperion Add-in for Excel 2007 in the ribbon.

Essbase Smart View report

When using the Essbase Excel Add-in, you can highlight part of the Essbase report and refresh only that part. By doing this, you can have multiple Essbase reports on one Excel tab.
I tried and can't do this in SV (we are using 931). Is there a way to have more than 1 smart view report in one tab?

SmartView is definitely not the Essbase Add-in.
I have found that even the "Highlighted Selection Refresh" doesn't behave as I would expect.
One solution I can see for this situation is to have a sheet that links to 2 tabs. Each tab has 1 SV report.
There is feature Refresh All Sheets. I find this to be very useful and it works great.

Essbase Smart view installation error

Getting error while installing the smart view on windows operating system
The error is "Please exist all microsoft office applications to proceed with the installation "
I have not opened any excel ,so donot understand whats this errir for and how to solve it.

You probably have one of the other Office applications running - remember, Office is not just Excel and Smart View works with those other applications too - and / or it's open invisibly. If you open task manager and look at Processes you may see an instance of EXCEL.EXE (for example) even though Excel isn't visible as an application on your desktop.

Office 2007 add-ins will not load on Windows 7 x64

Hi there,
I have a brand new built Windows 7 x64 desktop with Office 2007 32 bit installed. When I install Oracle BI Publisher Desktop 11.1.1.7.0 it loads without errors. Except none of the add-ins will load. I have done the usual Add-ins / Com Add-in / Tick box but nothing.
After further investigation it appears there is a VSTO 4.0 error on the machine when I run the C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\DotNet2007\TBAddin.vsto. The error itself is only failed when it tries to download savexmldata.png from C:/Program Files (x86)/Oracle/BI Publisher/BI Publisher Desktop/DotNet2007/Resources. The fact is there isn't a folder called Resources nor a file called savexmldata.png.
I thought it may be an assemblies error and tried installing the newest versions of Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools Office Runtime (x64) but all are up to date.

Essbase - Smart View

Hello,
I have created New Essbase Cubes/Applications in EAS , and I also restarted the APS Services.
Yet I cant see the new Essbase Applications when I open the Smart View connection.
Is there anything which should be needed to be done in order to get the new Applications shown in Smart View.

Are you able to see the application under Application group in Shared Services ??

Essbase smart view not working

while working with essbase, on connection to Smartview. we are using optimize.xls for practise.
when we submit data the HsSetValue function does not work. due to which the data is not retrieved and returns a #NAME error. Due to this we are not able to furthur work on the XLS as the input data sheet doesnt work.

Add row in Smart View

Hello,
I've created a form in Planning and have allowed users to dynamically add rows. This works fine while I'm in Workspace but if I open the form in Smart View, I cannot add rows. How can I add rows while in Smart View??

Not able to get Essbase Server list in Office with Smart View 11.1.2.1

Anybody tried Shared Connection in Smart View 11.1.2.1? I am able to connect to but it does not show any servers in the non editable drop-down box. I tried this with Office 2003 sp3, Office 2007 and office 2010 but none of them is working. Also i tried to find out the datasourse.xml file in LWS-aps in shared services console but its not there. i tried the solution given on this link also but the datasourse.xml file is not in place.

i'm connecting to Essbase through this URL http://<server>:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders . it shows the login window and allow me to get in. but the drop down box is empty. no server listed.
Please let me know what I'm missing.

I am also getting same problem as gaurav,
I checked,"http://<servername>:13080/aps/SmartView" Analytic Provider Services also running.
instead of Server name i tried localhost, ip address, and computer name.
but still not getting anything in drop down, even "Add New Server" Option also.
I thought this may be because Analytic Provider Services was configured after Shared Services. But for that i followed the steps:
1. Stop the Analytic Provider Server and Foundation Services.
2. Open the EPM System Configurator through Start -> All Programs -> Oracle EPM System -> Foundation Services -> EPM System Configurator.
3. Expand Hyperion Foundation and only tick the option 'Deploy to Application Server'
4. Click Next through the Configurator until complete.
5. Restart the Foundation and Analytic Provider Server Services.
6. Open Excel, connect to the Shared Connections.
But problem Continuous.

Smart view compatible old essbase excel add-in

There is someone that knows if the old excel file created with old essbase excel add-in are compatible with smart view.
because I receive the error "the row cannot contain multiple dimensione" when I refresh an old excel with smart view

I have a problem with old excel-addin, excel crash when retrieve data or drill down.
smart view works fine, but is not compatible with old version of file excel created with old essbase add-in. Exist a work around to use old file excel with smart view.

Smart View add in 11.1.1.3 Compatibility with Microsoft Office 365

Our organization is looking to move to Microsoft Office 365. Is there any compatibility issues with the Smart View add in version 11.1.1.3? I checked the certification documents, but they do not mention anything about Office 365.

Most Office 365 uses cases and users end up with Office installed on the desktop and at that point we are talking about normal Office Support. Short answer is that Smart View does not support Office 365 Web Apps and there are no plans to support the Web Apps.

Unable to access Smart View 11.1.2.5.216 within Outlook 2007

All,
I uninstalled Smart View 11.1.1.3.x from my MS Windows 7 (x32) Professional SP1 machine and installed Smart View 11.1.2.5.216 during the same session (ie, without rebooting).
While SmartView comes up perfectly fine when I access Excel, Word and PowerPoint and I can connect to the various 11.1.2.3.00 EPM data sources, I cannot see the Smart View ribbon under MS Outlook. This is in spite of:
- having changed my MS Office 2007 installation to run Visual Basic Scripting Support on my PC for MS Outlook 2007 only (ie, via Control Panel > Programs and Features > MS Office Standard 2007 > Change > Add or Remove Features);
- deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions key and underlying sub-keys, after uninstalling 11.1.1.3 and before installing 11.1.2.5.216
There are no disabled COM add-ins displayed under MS Outlook 2007 and there were no further Hyperion-related entries (ie, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Hyperion.CommonAddin) to amend\delete under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns. Moreover, I searched but could not find the Smart View PST file on my machine.
Would anyone have any suggestions as to where else I could be looking and\or what else I could be doing to enable Smart View under MS Outlook 2007?

Yeah for SmartView in outlook it does need PST file and on installation it created it automatically.
Could you try adding smartview addin in outlook,
and browse hsaddin.dll and hstbar.xla which are smartview required files.hstbar.xla in mandate one. do try this. if it doesn't work then i would suggest you to try uninstalling SmartView
reboot your machine
open cmd prompt with admin rights and navigate to the path where smartview executable is present and launch it through cmd prompt , it would install smartview with full admin rights and solve most of the issues.

Language Setting for - Hyperion Smart View for Office

Hi,
Here's a scenario I need to find an answer to.
1. We have Essbase system 9 installed on a machine named: USESSSRVR and here the ESSLANG environment variable is set to "English_UnitedStates.US-ASCII@Binary".
2. We build two Unicode cubes, one for Korea Sales called APPKR.SALESCUB & other for Turkey Sales called APPTR.SALESCUB
3. Korean users are sitting in Korea & Turkey users are in Turkey & both these users need to see data in their local languages.
4. Since Essbase Excel Add-In is not compatible with Unicode cubes, we have asked them to use "Hyperion Smart View for Office".
Now question is,
-> Where in this entire system do I need to do Language Settings so that they see their characters correctly?
-> Is there a place in Smart View where you can set languages?
-> Also we have a limitation that we need to have both the applications APPKR & APPTR on the same Essbase server which is in US.
PLEASE HELP.

It's actually because you are installing over an old version. Uninstall SV, review the registry entries and directories and then reinstall with admin priv.
Of course when I looked it up on support the Oracle ID 1466433.1 suggests that the .net install is corrupt so was i going mad? Not beyond reasonable doubt since I put in an SR a while back about it so I have proof that it is listed as an " "internal bug #14149839 : "SMART VIEW EXTENSION ACTIVATOR OBJECT (-2147467262) This is reported for excel 2010" has been raised with development team. As per the update from the bug this issue has been addressed in patch 11.1.2.2.310 which is yet to be released."
So if you are on an earlier version of Office possibly is because of the .net install (which I think needs v3.5, at least for Office2003), but I would try do a clean install first.

Oracle said that Essbase add-in and Smarview Version 9.3.1 support Office 2007. However, they do not support Windows 7 as of yet. Is there any plan of having a patch for supporting Office 2007 running on Windows 7?
