Essentials workspace missing

PSCS5 64bit, Windows 7, 8 gig, essentials workspace missing, no error messages; it's just not there.  I have the latest patches/updates.  Was there before.  I had been doing some Deke tutorials on Lynda.com changing keyboard shortcuts but I don't know how/if that would affect workspace.  Any ideas?

Missing from the screen?  Hard drive?  Both?
If you're just not seeing the name on the screen, have you tried the Window - Workspace submenu?  Is it missing from there?
This page lists where the files should be:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/828/cpsid_82893.html
The specific table row in the above page that seems pertinent is:
Workspaces
[User Defined]
[Workspaces that have been modified}
Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings/Workspaces
Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings/Workspaces (Modified)
On my system, in the latter folder I find Essentials (among other workspaces).

  • Essentials.xml missing - how to restore?

I had to reinstall my Creative Suite 5.5, and after doing so, when I try to start Flash, I get the following message:
The following panel layout is missing or could not be read:
    /users/myusername/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml
The application will not have a correct layout. Please load one from Windows ->Workspace
If I OK the error message, Flash loads, but there are no panels and if I try to open a file, I get a "Failed to Open Document" message.
Any ideas how to fix this? I'm on a MacOSX.
    Thank you!

you could try replacing with:  www.kglad.com/Files/forums/Essentials.xml

  • Output workspace missing from Bridge CC

Why has the Output workspace been removed from Bridge CC??????

    Hi Bluebell,
Yes the Output such as web gallery, has been removed.  I am not very happy about it either since I packaged all of my clients "off line" proofs this way. It was fast and simple... Oh wait, fast and simple... That's why Adobe cut it out.
Their solution is to waste clock cycles on your system by using Lightroom 5 which I have utterly no use for. Seeing as there is no real improvement to bridge and they basically just slaped the"CC" designation on it, they could have easily left it in.
It's amazing that they have brilliant software engineers but nobody with brains enough to make logical marketing decisions.

  • Workspace missing

I created a Workspace in PsCC on my desktop
I have PsCC on my Laptop as well but that Workspace is not on it; and I don't remember how I created it.  Is  there a way to import a workspace from a PsCC on another computer.
Isn't PsCC always be in sync with copies on other machines, on the same network.

Workspaces are saved in you Photoshop Preferences.  You may want to sync the activated Photoshop with the workspace to the cloud the sync the activated photoshop without the workspace  from the cloud.

  • Workspace missing in WebDAV

I created track in CMS and imported .sca file for Manager Self Service. Now I can see the workspace in DTR via URL http://<server>:<port>/dtr/ws. However, if I connect to the workspace using WebDAV, I cannot see the track. Via WebDAV I only see the "system" workspace.
Any suggestions why this could be happenning?
    Thanks,
    GN

I agree with Larry Goldman on this 100%. OS X 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 were rock solid when released. Starting with 10.7 it's been Vistaville all the way. Combined with fanboi arrogance, this has been totally frustrating.
There was a file/directory permissions error in 10.7.0 through 10.7.3, This permissions error caused endless random untracable problems and Apple said NOTHING about it. This wasn't fixed until 10.7.4, and a month later Mountain Lion came out.
"Don't reopen windows at startup" didn't work until 10.7.4 either - causing no end of headaches and problems, but Apple shipped 10.7 out the door with this glaring bug. Nobody at Apple saw this? Nobody tested this? It took a year for Apple to finally to fix it?!?!
Lion was a broken piece of **** until 10.7.4, and I cannot imagine all of the user frustration that must have occured as a result of these two problems, but how many other problems wreaked havoc, undetected?!?
I guess all the seasoned Apple devs went over to iOS, and the beginners are working on OS X. It really shows.
When I booted Lion and Mountain Lion for the first time, all kinds of buggy weirdness reared its ugly head. Windows not closing, artifacts remaining on screen, preference setting reverting without reason, fields not accepting input, Safari suddenly unable to connect to the internet (even though Chrome worked perfectly at the same time for the same URL), yada yada yada...
It used to be Microsoft that made their customers find all their OS bugs for them because it was cheaper than writing clean code from the beginning.
Today, quality control and testing have obviously gone out the window at Apple. They need to spend more of that $100 billion on QA and less on marketing.

  • Essentials are missing i have to buttons

i tried to use Adobe Flash Professional CS6 (this is my third day using it) when i try to openit it says it can't be read or something like that,i need to fix this before me trial ends >:(

You should take a screenshot of the error message you get and include it in your posting.  Otherwise you are likely to be the only one who knows what the error says.

  • Major type lag caused by changing workspace arrangement and enabling opengl

I am running Photoshop CS4 64 11.0.1 on Win 7 Ultimate N 64. I have an ATI 1950XTX card, with the latest official drivers. All BIOS, drivers, and updates for software, OS, and harware are installed and working properly.
I noticed immediately after install that whenever working with an image, regarldess of size, resolution, etc, there is major lag, for example, when using the type tool (at least 5 -10 seconds before the input appears on screen).
I have a dual monitor setup, and typically rearrange the workspace to span both monitors, with most toolbar windows being moved to the second.
I read through some posts regarding this common issue, and pinpointed it to disabling opengl. However, I was not satisfied with this as a permanent solution as I have become accustomed to the enhancements provided by enabling opengl.
I reset Photoshop to all defaults (workspace (Essentials), presets, Advanced preferences under Edit, etc) and re-enabled opengl. Surprisingly, type input was posted to screen immediately with no lag at all. I then began rearranging the workspace, while intermittently testing the type tool. Everything was working unil I started moving items from the rightmost window pane (Essentials workspace), as in the image below.
Somehow, changing arrangements of that pane resulted in input lag. Whenever I reset to Essentials, things began working fine immediately. I tested several of the other predefined workspaces, and foudn that most work fine, excet Painting and Basic!
To conclude, I've pinpointed the issue to a combination of opengl and workspace arrangements (Painting, Basic, and Custom).
Hope someone has a solution! Thanks for reading.

You need to update your card with a newer one that supports Windows 7 64 bit.
Read this link. The card is not supported nor will work correctly on Windows 7.

  • Missing Bridge CC Extensions Folder

I have Bridge CC installed and am trying to download and install the AOM Output Module extension.  Per the instructions on the site I need to copy the folder to the Bridge CC Extensions Folder in my Library Folder, but there isn't one there!  Any tips/advice/help?  I can't get it to work without finding that folder it seems :-(

    Hi,
I am having a problem with having the Output Module work as well.
According to the instructions I have done everything correctly. Install Adobe Output Module
    I:
Copy the Adobe Output Module folder (not the AOM_Package_[OS] folder) into the Bridge CC Extensions folder in the appropriate location:Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CC Extensions
Copy the AdobeOutputModule.workspace file into the Workspaces folder under the Bridge CC Extensions folder.
When I place the AdobeOutputModule.workspace into the Workspace folder Bridge doesn't come up at all. If the Module is in the same folder as the BridgeCC folder then there is no change to whether Bridge works or not.
Additionally, I am not seeing "!!-$$$AdobeOutputModule.workspace" in the \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CC\Workspaces folder. All I see are
    !!-$$$Essentials.workspace
    !!-$$$LightTable.workspace
    !!-$$$Navigator.workspace and
    !!LastMenu.workspace
    Help please. Any more ideas.
    Thank you,

  • Can't find the essentials button on photo shop CS6

can't find the essentials button on photo shop

    Window>Workspace>Essentials (Default)
and the far right of the photoshop window under the minimize, maximize and close buttons

  • Cannot access Workspaces!!!

Every time I try to access a workspace other than the Essentials workspace in Photoshop CS5, I get this message:  "Could not apply the workspace because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to unlock the file or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders." It doesn't matter if I have a file open or not. None of my images are locked.
    What gives?

Mike, this is the Photoshop forum, no the AI one. But I guess that checking the permissions of the corresponding folder for photoshop might be a good idea.
This post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2775111#2775111 seems to provide an answer that works for others:
Navigate to /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings
    Select that file File>Get Info
At the very bottom under permissions, hit the + icon.
Add your user name from the list that pops up.
    Highlight the user just added.
Click the gear icon to the right of the +/-
    Choose make owner.
Click the gear icon again and choose apply to folder contents.
    Open Photoshop.

  • Toolbar not showing

the toolbar at the top of the screen is not showing properly. I am missing the line with essentials, one-on-one. Any thoughts how i can return to the original layout?

Can you show a full screen grab of what you're seeing, debouchier?
If Trevor has not nailed it down (i.e., you're using Full Screen Mode), could this be a case where the window has been slid off screen a bit?
There's also the possibility of choosing Window - Workspace - Reset Essentials to return to the bone stock Essentials workspace.

  • Disappearing context aware tool bar

Where do I report a bug?
I've assigned InDesign to a 'Desktop' formerly called 'Space'. Mac Lion 10.7.4 Done via the InDesign icon in the dock. Right click the icon > Options > Assign to: Desktop 2,3, whatever.
So I've bobbed out of InDesign into Firefox or Mail on a different desktop. When I click the InDesign icon in the Dock to return to InDesign, the screen slides to the space ok, but InDesign appears without the top context aware tool/attributes bar... not sure what it's called but the one immediately below the 'ID' bar in the default 'Essentials' workspace. Blimey, takes some explaining doesn't it. Anyway it's missing - there's a gap across the top of the screen below the 'ID' bar. If I slide (4 finger gesture) to the default desktop, there the missing bar is for the briefest moment!!!! Clearly while the main app is happy to reside in the Desktop/space... the toolbar gets mightly confused.
If I cmd+tab between applications, it also does it (though I'm not sure it's consistent), but if I use the gesture to move from desktop/space to InDesign Desktop, it seems fine (though I've not tested this rigorously).
    InDesign CS6

Lots of problems, apparently, with Spaces...
anyway, you can report a bug at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • Sort folders panel view?

    I must be missing something.
In Essentials workspace can I sort the Folders Panel by date modified, not the Content Panel?, currently it is alphabetical, I can ctrl-click on a folder and choose sort but this only sorts the content view not the folders hierarchy within the Folders Panel.
    thanks.

    I must be missing something.
No you did not, you are not able to sort the folder panel itself, only its
content in the content window. The folder panel reflects the sort order in
the Finder, don't know if changes in the Finder will show in Bridge but you
can easily find that out yourself with trying .

  • I'm not buying Lion because it won't run Quicken

This is one of those frustrating OS conversion problems.
Quicken 2007 won't run on OS X Lion.  Intuit does not seem to have anything in the works to make Quicken work in the new OS.
The dilemma is that Mac users EVENTUALLY will have to convert to Lion and its successors because other mission-critical apps we use will eventually not run in OS X 10.6.x.  For Quicken users, the options seem to be :
    1. Stay on OS X 10.6.x forever, but note the caution above about this not being a reasonable long-term solution.
    2. Convert to Quicken Essentials.  This won't work for me because Essentials is missing features of Quicken I consider "essential", e.g., handling securities transactions and portfolios.
    3. Convert to one of Quicken's competitors such as iBank.  I am testing iBank now.  It successfully imported my large Quicken data file which I had exported as a  .qif file from Quicken.  I'm now auditing the results and they are more reasonable than I had expected.  For example, the securities positions can be reconciled back to Quicken.  There are issues I have not yet figured out.  Such as how to capture years of bank reconciliation data for checking accounts.
But converting all the years of data and checking it all is going to take a lot of time.
Anyone have anymore info on this issue?
    Thanks,
    Rich
