Estimated Time for 100% Battery?

Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch (2011 model) for three months now and I'm just wondering, what is the "normal" estimated time for 100% charged battery on this model of MBP (provided that the wifi is on and screen brightness is at 50%)? Mine is saying 6 hours and 10 minutes. Is that normal?
Regards,
Jay

Thanks, I'll give it a go! Btw, can you please tell me what is your full charge capacity? (Maybe that has something to do with my reduced battery life?) Mine is saying 6633mAh.
p.s. you can find this by clicking on apple icon (top left corner) > about this mac > more info > power (on the left pane)  - it should then show details of full charge capacity on the right
Cheers,
Jay

  • Estimated time for iTunes 9.1.1 download is 26 hours!?

Every time I try to download the new iTunes (which I need to work my iPhone) it takes abnormally long to download!
So I decided to go on apple.com and download it straight from there. All in all - it begins to download - Estimated time: 6 hours... 13 hours... 26 hours!!!
    It stopped at 26 hours.
    That is insanely long!
I downloaded it on my laptop, and it took max half and hour.
What is going on with my computer and itunes?

it also did not work for me.
I opened a separate thread for that:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2415960
also sent a bug report to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html to increase Apple's awareness on this very annoying issue.

  • TS3992 I purchased more cloud storage but it will not back up. Seems stuck. Just says estimating time for back up but never moves.

I purchased more cloud space but since then have not been able to back up. I press back up and it says back up starting and it says time for back up but nothing happens. No time given and no back up done.

I tried the steps to reformat my external Hdrive, creating a partion etc using GUID partition scheme.
still nothing. Every hour Time Machine starts up says preparing, then stops and no back ups are made.
    HELP!!

  • Time from 100% battery indicator downward?

I charge my ipad 3 overnight to give it a full 7-8 hour charge, using the wall charger and cable that the device came with.  I then try to gauge how much time from when the battery indicator drops to 99%, then 98%, etc., calculating the intervals.
I do this as a means of extrapolating for all 100 percentage units how much battery time in total the unit would last until the battery is completely exhausted, and I've been coming up with roughly 8.5 hours for watching videos on the ipad (not streamed) at between 90-100% brightness setting, and about 10 hours for surfing the web using cellular or wifi service.  The cellular seems to drain a bit faster.
Has anyone one else also tested their battery - I'm curious to compare units.

    Well, that is crazy!

  • Time for new battery

My white 13" macbook needs a new battery. Any info on who sells the original battery at a discount (apple price is $129). Or any opinions on maybe buying a third party battery? Thanks!

CAUTION: Don't purchase a McVolt battery from Battery Hippo. From what I can tell Battery Hippo is possibly a front company for fraud. They never answer their phone, nor do they respond to email complaints and their website return request. Battery Hippo sells McVolt batteries that are alleged to be new high capacity (5600mAh) for a discount.
After receiving the "new" battery, it only charged to 5200mAh according to System Profile. Thinking that it just needed to be discharged and recharged a few times to get to maximum capacity (as the instructions suggested), I "recalibrated" the battery five times. With each subsequent discharge and recharge, the battery lost more storage capacity - down to 4200 mAh on the last attempt.
When I tried to contact Battery Hippo, I found out they don't answer the phone, return voicemail, or respond to email. After a frustrating week, I submitted an on-line request to return the battery. They never approved my return request, so I had to send it back without a return authorization. I'M NOW IN THE MIDDLE OF A VISA DISPUTE. BUYING FROM THIS VENDOR WAS A VERY COSTLY MISTAKE: ABOUT 10 HOURS OF ATTEMPTING TO GET THEM OR VISA TO RETURN MY MONEY (GOING ON SINCE SEPTEMBER 24), AND I STILL DON'T HAVE RESOLUTION.
ONCE I GET THIS DISPUTE RESOLVED, I'M GOING TO THE APPLE STORE. I KNOW THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.

I want to rebuilt the content index, there was a geat article to nearly estimate the amount of time needed for this process:

Please help me with that issue to find this articel or just tell me if i can use this article which goes for "2007"
    Thank You
    Best Regards

It's easy enough to find out.  Start your rebuild and monitor it.

  • Estimated time for a query execution -- URGENT PLEASE

    Hi,
I am interested in knowing the time of execution of a query before actually running it. Is there any stored procedures/methods that gives us this feature.
    Thanks.

Without actually running the query, there's no way to find out how long it will take to run. I'm not even sure that there's a theoretical way to do this.
You can use the v$long_ops table to see roughly how far along a long-running query is while it's running.

  • Estimated time for MBP 2.8Ghz

    Hello
I`m looking forward to buying a new MBP with a 2.8Ghz and a different HD.
Do you guys know how long it will probably take to this MBP be ready to shipping after the order gets placed?
I`ll be in the US for 10 days next month, and I`m afraid it`ll take longer to get ready than the period of my stay.
    Thx in advance

Wherever you have it shipped to, there will need to be a signature. You might call Apple and ask them to have it delivered to a store close to where you will be staying. You could pick it up there.

  • Apple: Please post an estimated up time for the iPhone 2.0/iTunes Upgrade

Like many fellow iPhone users, I've been having a devil of a time completing my iPhone upgrade. It's stuck in iPhone purgatory awaiting a connection to iTunes to complete, and in turn, is a worthless shiny brick. If you could post an estimated time for the resolution of this problem, it would help me and many others from enduring hours or frustration and attempted workarounds (click on Music, then your phone, then music, then your phone, then the store, then the phone, click your heels three times). I work for a technology company, and we find that communicating the issue to the users is always better then letting them bang their heads against a wall asking 'why why why' while they cant get their work done.

The GOOD news is I installed 2.0... (I've been so excited about the new Apps!!!)... The BAD news is - Now I just have an image of a USB cable and iTunes logo on my phone and an error message in iTunes: "An unknown error occurred (-4)." ...please try again later.
More BAD news - All of these fantastic apps I've already purchased and I just want to use them, but no phone to use them on anymore. I'm sorry, but I can't live without my iPhone! I don't know where I'm supposed to be right now without my iCal... I don't know any of my friends phone numbers so I can't call them for help... I don't even know my Bank information because that was in there too.
    - Please make it work again Apple! Please

  • Battery run time for Tungsten E?

What is the total run time for the battery in the Tungsten E assuming the back light is on all the time while playing a song?
    Post relates to: Palm III

With a brand new T|E in early 2004 I could get about 3 hours of run time in Aeroplayer with screen off.
I doubt you can get anything like that.
It would be simpler and less time consuming for everyone if you had started one thread with ALL your T|E battery questions.

  • Restoring iphone from backup estimating time remaining stuck

I have been updating my boyfriend's iphone.  It has not been updated for a while.  I backed up everything on itunes.  I then went to restore (the first time) and within 10-15 minutes it said there was 1 hour left, 2 hour left, 3 hours left.  I did something else for about 20/30 minutes, came back to my computer and it was asleep and everything had ended.  It did not finish.
I have now tried to restore a couple times and cannot get past the estimated time remaining.....  What do I do?  It's been "estimating time" for about a half hour.
    Please help.  Beyond frustrated.

Just got an Iphone 5, trying to restore it from my Iphone 4 backup. I just shows estimating time remaining for the past hour and a half. Might just leave it up and hopefully something will happen.

  • My battery is 100% yet the estimated time is 6:15 only. Why is this?

Hello. I am new to Mac. I got my first MacBook Pro 15 with retina for Christmases and in that machine the estimated time always displayed more than 7 hours. Last week I replaced my laptop for one with 16GB. In the new machine the time usually show as 6:15 wit 100% charged battery. Can someone tell me if this is something I should be concerned about or is this due to some settings? Thank you in advance.

You should consider yourself fortunate to be getting such battery life.  First the Apple advertised battery life hours are predicated on very 'ideal' conditions that the overwhelming amount of users do not adhere to.  If you get 60% - 70% of these figures in normal application usage, your are doing just fine.
The estimated battery life figures that are displayed can vary radically.  They reflect the time left based on what is being done at that particular moment.  Open another application and the time will decrease.  Close an application, the time will increase.
Increase of RAM will have no meaningful affect on battery life.  The number and type of applications that you are using are the determinants regarding battery life.
here are a couple of support articles that you may find informative regarding your battery:

  • Mac Estimated time is always wrong... FOR YEARS!

Sometimes it will say estimated time remaining 45 minutes and then it will just jump to 10 minutes and then back up to something rediculous like "about an hour" and then back down to 20... It's crazy and as it's been this way as far as I can recall for the last 10 years and 20 Macs later.
What's upwith Mac time and why is it alway way off?

Estimated time remaining on your battery is entirely dependent on what you are doing, and the power consumption of that activity.  For example, if you visit a site with some fancy Flash animations, that can drive power consumption way up.  Then when you navigate away from the site, power consuption goes down.
