Estimated time to download Xcode 3.2.6 is 2 days.

Hi, I am a brand new mac user. Am trying to download XCode 3.2.6 for Snow leopard from developer.apple.com. The file is about 4 GB and my internet download speed is 0.36 Mbps. The estimated time to download this huge file is 2 days:(. Is there any other way I can download Xcode 3.2.6 faster? Does Mac support any download managers?

Xcode 3.2 is on your Snow Leopard DVD. Unless you are developing for iOS, the Xcode on your Snow Leopard DVD should be sufficient and allow you to avoid the large download.

    Hello Knight612
Try the other alternative when it comes to updating your iPhone. If you are using your iPhone in Settings > General > Software Update and it is not going anywhere, try using iTunes or vice versa.
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I participated in getting the free download of Mountain Lion for new Mac owners. It took me three days to finally get a code to do it and when I tried downloading it, the estimated time was 74 days 17 hours. Now an error occurred. What do I do? I am very frustrated and just want the great software to download in a resonalbe time!

Take your Mac to a location with a fast, relaible Internet connection that will be all yours during the duration of the download.
If you want to complain, PLEASE call Apple and do so.
Internet only downloads of OS X is completely stupid, it assumes everyone has reliable Internet everywhere and /or no data caps.

  • Estimated time for iTunes 9.1.1 download is 26 hours!?

Every time I try to download the new iTunes (which I need to work my iPhone) it takes abnormally long to download!
So I decided to go on apple.com and download it straight from there. All in all - it begins to download - Estimated time: 6 hours... 13 hours... 26 hours!!!
    It stopped at 26 hours.
    That is insanely long!
I downloaded it on my laptop, and it took max half and hour.
What is going on with my computer and itunes?

it also did not work for me.
I opened a separate thread for that:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2415960
also sent a bug report to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html to increase Apple's awareness on this very annoying issue.

  • Possibly downloaded xcode multiple times

    Hi,
I'm new to using apple products but I think I made a mistake downloading xcode. I'm not sure what exactly I did but I believe I may have duplicate files on my system and I'm wondering is there a way to investigate this to find out and then to remove them as the xcode download is quite large.
Thanks for any help in advance.

  • Can't download xCode - anyone else with this problem?

I have been trying for a couple of days now to download xCode from the Mac developer page. Each time I click on the download link I get shifted to a page that reports "technical difficulties." Has anyone else noticed this, or is it something in my computer or my log in or something similar?

You can obtain xCode from your OS X Snow Leopard install CD. Pop in the CD, when window pops up automatically, select "optional installs." xCode is available in them.

  • HT1222 Just bought a ipad mini with retina. On my settings page its showing ios7.0.4 software update. "Estimating time remainin..." but doesn't seem to complete update. This message has been showing since last evening. How can I end or complete this opera

I just bought an ipad mini with retina display. On my settings page it shows an update occurring for ios.7.0.4 with the message "Estimating time remaining..."
This update and message appeared last evening but doesn't seem to complete. It also says "downloading", but nothing is happening.
How can I complete the download or eliminate it?

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

Why does my cellphone keep saying that "estimating time remaining" when I try to upgrade the system?
Is there anyway to fix this situation?

    Hi Eric_Sun,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may want to update your iPhone using iTunes on a computer if your device only shows "estimating time remaining" when you try to update wirelessly:
If you can’t update wirelessly, or if you want to update with iTunes, follow these steps:
If you use your device's Personal Hotspot for your computer's Internet connection, update your device wirelessly or connect your computer to another network.
Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
Plug in your device to your computer.
    In iTunes, select your device.
In the Summary pane, click Check for Update.
    Click Download and Update.
If you see an error message while updating your device, you can learn how to resolve iOS update errors in iTunes.
You can find these steps here:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are still not able to update, I recommend the steps in this article next:

  • I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard. Now there is a new Xcode for Lion, so I downloaded the new one but the installed continued to be the old one. Now App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me to re-download Xcode. How can I proceed?

I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard 12 days ago. After installing Lion I saw there is a new FREE Xcode for it, so I downloaded the new one but after installing automatically Xcode for Lion the Developer folder contained the old one. I deleted the old Xcode but the App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me re-download Xcode.
How can I proceed? I'm guessing whether this problem will occur each time I buy an application from App Store.

Yes, that's righ, Xcode installer was in the Apps folder. I assumed it had been automatically installed and the installer deleted after installation (the same way as Lion is installed).
I tried also the procedure for redownloding applications, and MAS showed both Xcodes (Lion and Snow Leopard) and OS X Lion. We see that buttons for Lion and Xcode for Snow Leopard say 'Install' but Xcode for Lion says 'installed' because there is an Install Scode in the Apps folder.
    Thank you.

  • Safari 50% CPU while downloading xcode

My fans are running 5000rpm, my CPU is currently at 208 deg F and the only thing I'm doing is downloading xcode from apples website.  I hear all the time Apple and others blaming flash for eating up CPU but what on earth is Apple doing just downloading a file?  Is this normal?  This is a fresh install of snow leopard and I'm literally just going through and reinstalling some of the programs I lost during reloading.
My computer has always run hot enough to cook eggs on and I've gotten used to it but always blamed flash or something on system I wasn't aware of.  Now that I've reloaded with fresh software I expected it to be a bit better but its still hotter than is necessary for the amount of work its currently doing.
Anyone have any ideas of what might be going on?
    Thanks,
    Glenn

While I think you are smart to have your machine checked out, your machine is not doing anything unusual from my experience. (We ARE talking about your "post 2008" MBP, correct ? ) For me it happens while encoding video. CPU is maxed and the temps are near 200 (90+ Celsius). I just place the machine on a cool surface and let it run. If it means anything to you, I learned that performing certain tasks in Windows (Boot Camp) actually helped lessen the strain. Anyway since everything returns to normal after, you are in pretty good shape provided your machine idles at 160F or so. Fry an egg? Not really, but it will iron the wrinkles out of your pants!
How do you measure your stats? iStatPro (free widget) is amazing for that.
As far as Flash goes - do some work using Opera with the Flash plugin disabled just to compare. I find that so long as I update Flash regularly (bloody often, actually) and dump the Flash Cache, I'm quite happy. (Flash Cache is located in TWO places: 1.)  User / "You" / Library / Preferences / Macromedia / Flash Player / macromedia.com / support / flashplayer / sys /  AND 2.) User / "You" / Library / Preferences / Macromedia / Flash Player / #SharedObjects )
    Cheers

  • Downloading XCode using curl

I want to write a script for installing all my required tools and libraries automatically on SL and for this to work my script needs to download and install XCode on my machine. However downloading XCode requires an authenticated user and at the moment I cannot download it using curl. Is there an official mirror of XCode available that doesn't require authentication for downloading or is there a way to pass authentication info to apple.com for downloading?
At the moment the following command is not working:
    curl -u [email protected]:pass --anyauth https://developer.apple.com/mac/scripts/downloader.php?path=/ios/iossdk_4.0.2__final/xcode_3.2.3_and_ios_sdk4.0.2.dmg -O -S -v
    Thanks in advance,
    Behi

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have created the following script but it's still not working:
    curl -d "theAccountName=username&theAccountPW=pass" -c xcode-cookie -A "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1" https://daw.apple.com//cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSAuthWeb.woa/104/wo/W1df7WQblBsLekQzv S1tJ0/0.5.3.1.1.2.1.1.3.1.1"
    curl -b xcode-cookie -c xcode-cookie -O -v -A "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1" http://adcdownload.apple.com/ios/iossdk_4.0.2__final/xcode_3.2.3_and_ios_sdk4.0.2.dmg
I can see that the first script correctly stores the cookies returned from the server in xcode-cookie, but executing the second command gives a 403 Error:
    curl -b xcode-cookie -c xcode-cookie -O -v -A "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1" http://adcdownload.apple.com/ios/iossdk_4.0.2__final/xcode_3.2.3_and_ios_sdk4.0.2.dmg

I'm running Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5. Every time that I try to download xCode 4.6.3 or any other version the download hangs with a random size .dmg file, usually just a few megabytes out of the 1.6 gigbyte download. Is there an easy workaround for this?

Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. If there's no change, test on another network.
