Estimating number of users per instance

hi gurus,
This is a simple but critical question for me. How to estimate number of users per instance.
example if database size is 1.2 terrabytes then how many users can we have? and how can we know the num of users for a exixting instance?
Reddy

Hi Reddy,
Basically it is sizing question, and it depends on the hardware you have, the performance level you expect, and how well the system is tuned...
Transaction ST07 shows how many users are currently on the system.
Thank you,
Victor

    Hello,
Users per instance data is not updated. I guess related job is not running.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Manny,
Check that the following programs are scheduled, as well as all the standard jobs:
    RSCOLL00
    RSSTAT88
Also, you may want to review the following note:
Note 1158293 - ST03N: Display TOTAL data for current day, week and month
Also, please verify the following :
    -     Up to date kernel
    -     Up to date saposcol
    -     SPS level
What do you get when you double-click on one of the servers in the instance list?
    Hope this helps.

  • Number of users per room limit = 5000

    Hello,
Regarding the 5000 users limit per room in LCCS:
Is it an automatic limitation, or is there a way to over pass this limit?
And why do you apply this limit?
In a previous discussion, i was answered: "ideally if you want to build a really scalable app, you should distribute connections in multiple rooms"
But if i have multiple chat rooms, the user will have to endure the connection time (not so short) every time he changes chat room. When i use a single LCCS room for all my chat discussions, i can limit to only one connection time for the whole App, which is much better user experience.
And if i need a global chat room available for all logged in users?
Moreover, i also use the global room connection between all users to keep some common informations updated live, especially for example to keep the online users, and the online state of chat rooms hosts. How can i do differently without connecting every  user at same time?
If i can't get over this 5000 limitation, what solution Adobe has to offer, to get the great LCCS features, whitout limitations? A FMS server? but i'll have to recreate all LCCS services myself?
To be clear: I need a scalable realtime service between all users of my app (not only a restricted chat room at a time). How can i do?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Seb

    Hello,
    Thanks for the detailed answer.
I should read more about those customizable LCCS contracts, but are those contracts still rulled by the "you pay what you use" basis?
And about the servers. You say the FMS servers are not unlimited. But is the LCCS service not based on cloud infrastructure?
I thought cloud computing, was able to create virtually unlimited servers sizes, which would be perfect for the scalability of FMS heavy uses.
Am i wrong about cloud computing?
is LCCS not totally based on cloud instratucture?
can i get over those limitations if i use my own FMS server on Amazon EC2 recently announced? (or another Adobe product?) but in this case, ill have to create my own LCCS implementation, from scratch, which is quite some work to do
I am a bit disappointed from those limitations (even over 5000) because i love the LCCS business model and powerfull fonctionnalities.
It is so great to say: "you pay only when you have success" (because with a good business model of a web project earnings growth along with success), and you can have a success from 2 users to potentially millions without worries about technical background and its price.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Seb

  • Maximum number of users per Front End, assuming no AV

I know that MS recommends 80,000 user limit per pool, and 6000 per Front End server, but that's certainly going to be assuming you are using the Front End services to some degree.
A/V, I'm certain, is a fair overhead. Is there any kind of idea what the user limit per Front End server is if we assume the Front End is *only* doing IM and Presence?

Using the capacity planner at a server built out with full specs, it's still suggesting 6600.  Without Mobility, 7200.
Microsoft doesn't publish more than that so the rest is an at your own risk.  If you have enough users that it would be a concern, I'd just stick within the supported models.  You could start low and scale up by adding a front end or start
high by removing a front end.

  • As set up a certain number of users per connection handled by a WLC AP

HELLO community need an access point configured in the user minimum because I was looking and some had up to 49 LAP connections at the same time. I have a WLC 4402VERSION 7.0.98

You can't set a max user on a given AP unless you are running 7.2. The 4400 can't do that. Also its up to the client to decide what ap it will try to associate to. So depending in your ap locations and density of user and devices, all that can factor into why you see more clients on a AP and not on others.

  • "  QUERY    REGARDING  NUMBER OF USER'S  "

    Hai,
What is the Upper Limit for the Number of User's in  a SAP system???
Ex : IF a User is created , how many (N number of user's can use the same SAP system???

    Hai
      Ashok,
I don't know exact answer for ur question.
By using rdisp/tm_max_no parameter , we can restrict the no of users per instance.
The max. no of users allowed here is 10000.
You can thus restrict how many users can log onto an instance simultaneously.
You can see which users are logged on in the User Overview (transaction SM04).
    if it useful, reward points.

  • [database design]  the "too many" number of users of one instance!!

    Good morning everyone!!
I have a question about the number of users of one db
instance, "possible problems" caused by too many users,
and "pros and cons" of this case.
Now, the company I work for is considering centralizing
    150 db servers of 150 sites. 150 chained-stores have
    their own db instance.
Here is the structure of db instance after the
    centralization.
    1. Centralized instance has each user per site(150
    sites), for example, site001, site002, …site00n, …
    site150
    2. Each user has its own 250 tables, thus the db
instance become to have 150 users and 150*250 tables.
    3. Each user has almost the same table schema, not
exactly. There are a little bit of differences among
the business rules of each sites.
    4. the version of centralized db instance is "oracle9i".
Theoretically, it seems like there is no problem, but I
have not experienced the db instance like this, which
has "too many" users of 150 users.
In terms of every aspect such as "performance/tuning",
"system management", or "something else", I would like
to hear what could be "the pros and cons" of this
    structure.
Assuming that there are possible critical problems caused
by too many users, what could be the alternative choice?
I will be waiting to hear your experience. Every response
will be appreciated, even if it is not about what I asked.
Thanks for your interest in advance.
    Have a nice day.

  • Limit the number of session per user in the Wired dot1x environment with ISE 1.2

    Hello,
I need to check if there is any configuration/workaround to limit the number of sessions/access per user in the Wired dot1x configuration.
I need to check if this feature is available or not to solve the following scenario:
I have 2 SW ports configured to use dot1x authentication with ISE 1.2 server.
If user A connects to the 1st port and authenticated then he will placed on a VLAN based on the authorization profile.
The case, that I need to deny the same user to connect on a different machine with the same credentials.
The ISE itself does not have this feature currently,  the only feature available is to limit the number of sessions for the guest user.
Is there any workaround on the Cisco switches to solve this? Cisco WLC has this feature and for the VPN we can limit the number of sessions also from the ASA itself.
    Thanks.

limit number of session per user using wired dot1x is not available in 1.3

    Hi,
Do you know how to change the maximum number of process allowed per user ?
With RSRT we can customize the number of process per query but I don't know where we can customize the maximum number of process per user.
In fact, my production environment reach always the max number of process available in SM50...

  • Maximum Number of Sessions per User

I am using OAM 11.1.1.5.0 running on Solaris 10. When we change the "Maximum Number of Sessions per User" to 1 (per customer requirement), a user is restricted to having one active OAM session at a time (as expected). However, if the user does not explicitly log out (e.g. they just close their browser), they are unable to log back in to OAM until their existing OAM session times-out/expires. Given the above max sessions of 1 requirement, is it possible to config OAM to auto-kill the user's session and create a new one if they attempt to login before their initial OAM session times-out/expires? This was possible in Sun's Access Manager. Is it possible in Oracle's OAM? Thank you in advance for your reply.

  • Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

50 users per device, assuming that the "main" router is setup to deliver an adequate number of network IP addresses for all devices.
2 AEBS = 100 users, but that is really more of a theoretical max.
If you really need 100 connections, it would be much better to use 3 AEBS to spread things out.

  • Can the Portal Activity Report show unique users per page?

    Hello all
I guess this is a rather simple question, but can someone tell me if the portal activity report can show a count of unique users per page per week for instance?
Or will it just show which users have visited the page in a list without aggregating them to a number? And if the users are aggregated to a number, is it only uniwue users that are counted for the given period?
