Estimation method of progress Analysis

Hi,
We are having following scenario.
We are creating the project in PS. Then creating the PM order & assigning
the order to WBS element.
We want to use the Estimation method of progress analysis. Hence we havedefined Estimation method as default measurement method (both plan &
actual )for following objects,
1. WBS element
2. Internal processed activity
3. External processed activity
4. General cost activity
5. Order (Other than Network)
For WBS element & all activities we are able to manually maintain planned
POC & actual POC in CJ20n.
But for PM order we are not able to manually maintain planned POC &
Actual POC.
Can you please let me know where we can manually maintain the planned &
actual POC for PM Order.
regards,
Pradip Shelke

I do not think it is possible for order to use estimation method..
Please go for Cost / Time / Work proportional

  • Define Measurement Method as Default in Progress Analysis

    Hi All,
I have defined Measurement Method 0000000003(Milestone) in progress analysis for my company code.
But while running CNE1 for my project it is not picking the measurement method i have defined for my company code but it is picking the 0-100 Method .
    Please advice.
    Muzamil

    Hello All,
I have read all the posts on the subject, we are facing the same problem as reported by Muzamil. I have done the follwing
    1. Creat Progress Version
    2. Define Measurement Method as Default Values
2.1. Define measurement methods for WEBE
2.2. Ddfine measurement methods for all activity types
    3. Assign progress versions to the WBS Elements and Activities in their progress tabs.
But, wen I run CNE1, SAP does not pic the default methods while analyzing progress. SAP uses 0-100 method, which is not right.
    Please propose some solution

  • Comparing Progress analysis data saved in past periods

    Hi forum team,
We are using PS in SAP R3 ECC 6.0 system
With the intention to reviwe at later stage, we had saved 'Progress
Analysis' report data (CNSE5)in 'Other selected version' in past periods
i.e.in July, August etc. When we open these reports in November all its
    fields (Adj/Nonadj/Agg/Non Agg/PlanPOC/ActualPOC....) except actual
cost shows current period (November) values.
We thought this version copy would be a sort of screen shot but now it appears as a dynamic report.
How can we save this report (cnse5) in ERP database as we save project version for comparision in future?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Mohan Parab

    Hi
The standard method is KKA8. But you need to reverse the settlement.
Or you should be able to delete  the data from RPSCO with Value type 32.
But once you delete, you will be running the RA again for the last 10 Years? If so will you be settling it again? In that case how do you reconcile this with FI-CO and PA?
    Thanks

  • SKF for Progress Analysis

    Hi,
I have successfully run progress analysis using Estimate method .  As my understanding after I run CNE1, system will record POC that I maintained in Estimate table into SKF.   Which report I can use to see this SKF value ?
I have checked all SKF report in PS and even in Cost Center Accounting,  but the report has no data.

    Hi,
Did you check the report CNE5???
Once you run CNE1 accordingly reports on CNE5 will update.

  • How to view the results of progress analysis

    Dear Experts,
I executed progress analysis for my project analysis in CNE1 for my project.
After execution, PA has been completed for two WBS elements. But iam not able to see any POC values or costs.
Where should I check and confirm that Progress analysis has been carried out successfully.
    Pls suggest.

    Hi,
Run the transactio CNE5 for the project progress analysis ,you will get the following reports.
The standard reports offer various values we can use to assess the progress of our project. The following fields are defined in the standard progress analysis reports:
    - Planned POC in percent
    - Actual POC in percent
    - Budget Cost of Work Schedule, BCWS
    - Budget Cost of Work Performed, BCWP
    - Cost variance (CV)
    - Schedule variance (SV)
    - Value index (CPI)
    - Estimated costs at completion (EAC)

  • Default Progress Method and Progress Version

    Hello all,
Could someone explain me why are Plan or Actual POC not shown in CNE5 when no progress version is set in progress tab of any WBS element or activity? According to squence of consideration of progress method if system couldnt find any method set by manually then go next step and check consistence of opposite POC method. (plan POC consider actual POC method if not manually set, actual POC method consider plan POC method if not manually set.) If also opposite POC method is not assigned then go next step and check default measurement methods defined in IMG. If also not assigned then the system goes through SAP 0-100 method.
But, when I check my reports in CNE5 when I didnt assign any progress version in progress tab none of date comes screen. I dont get it.

    Hello,
it is mandatory to enter a Progress Version for the objects relevant for the Progress Analysis. This is needed as the settings concerning the default measurement methods are depending on the Progress Versions.
If you don't like to maintain a Progress Version for each object note 549097 might be useful for you.
    Kind regards,
    Dirk

  • Progress analysis scenario

Can some one help me with a sample scnario for Progress Analysis which can help in understanding what events will lead to Cost Variance or schedule Variance and will give me EAC, ETC etc.
I have all the settings done for progress analysis, but I am getting same values for BCWP & ACWP.
Also, how is Plan POC related to schedule/duration/period of the activity?
    Regards,
    VDS

    Dear Rupesh,
please have a look at the SAP online documentation following this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/b4/ba853488601e33e10000009b38f83b/frameset.htm
    Project Progress -> Progress Analysis:
There you can find a list with the relevant KPI's, formulas and questions they will help to answer.
Project Progress -> Progress Analysis Progress:
There you can find a short scenario with a diagramm which explains the cost variance and schedule variance.
The relation of the POC calculation to values like schedule/duration/period is depending on the measurement method which is used, as every measurement method uses different values as basis for the calculation. So a general answer can't be given on that.
    Kind regards,
    Dirk

  • Differance amoung the Valuation Methods for Result Analysis

    Dear All,
In SAP Product Cost Controlling ther are 3 types of Cosings
    1. Production Cost by Order
Path:- Production Cost by Order ---> Period end Closing ->WIP->Defind Valuation Method for( Actual Cost)
    2. Production Cost By Period
Path:- Production Cost by Period ---> Period end Closing ->WIP->Defind Valuation Method for ( Target Cost )
    3. Production Cost by Sales Order
Path :- Production Cost by Sales Order ---> Period end Closing --->Defind Valuation Method for Result Analysis.
Note:  Here the point is Valuation Methods ( 1 to 17 ) availabel in Production Cost by Sales Order only.  The Valution Method is very important to Calculate WIP.  Different Countries follows different methods, but in the By Order and By Period we can get these Valuation Methods.  What would be the reasno behind this.

  • Default report display for Project Info System: Progress Analysis Report

    T-Code: CNE5
At the Progress Analysis Initial Screen, I chose the fields from the menu Views > Choose Fields, Then I saved the Variants as Test_Variant ( GoTo > Variants > Save Variants )
Every time I run the report, it will run the Test_variant but once I logout and login again to run CNE5  Test_variant will not be used.
Can I set the default variant, so that every time I logout and login and run the Progress Analysis(cne5), Test_variant will be used as default.
    Appreciate advise
    Thanks.

If you want the same variant should default to all the users then you can assign the variant in SE93 to transaction CNE5. write your variant there-->save.
Other option is to look at possibility of creating screen variant using transaction SHD0 for CNE5. Take help of ABAP in this case.

  • PS Progress Analysis -

    Dear Guru's,
I am facing problem while executing the Progress Analysis report in SAP PS for one of our client. I am getting only the Schedule plan value and actual... rest of the column like BCWS, ACWS are comming blank which is important for client.
If any body work on customer project pls suggest..

    Hi Shashank,
Right now I'm facing the same problem, I've already implement the user exit but I would like to know if you have an example of the implementation, I still don't know where to find the info of the structures to calculate the POC.
    Thanks,

  • PROJECT PROGRESS ANALYSIS FOR NETWORK HEADER

< MODERATOR:  Message locked.  Please read the [Rules of Engagement|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement] before posting next time. >
    Dear all,
We can get the progress analysis data (tcode CNE5) for a network activity and also for WBS element. However data is not cumulated at the network header. Need your urgent help for getting this at the network header level. Is there a workaround like user exit for doing this?
Also let me know available user exists for PS. Please guide me how to find an user exit for PS in particular.
    Regards,
    Prakash.

No , it is not possible.
Please search the forum for further details, as it discussed many times earlier.

  • PROGRESS ANALYSIS: what does COST PROPORTIONAL measurement method use for?

    Hi Experts,
When I tried to use the COST PROPORTIONAL measurement method, I found 1 thing:
+ actual POC = actual cost / overall value
+ BCWP = actual POC x overall value
It means that BCWP = ACWP (actual cost) --> Cost Variance (CV) = BCWP - ACWP = 0
Hence we cannot see the cost variance when we apply the COST PROPORTIONAL method.
Could you please help me to explain the use of COST PROPORTIONAL method?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Khoa Huynh

    Hi Abdul Khader,
Thanks for your answer. I got your point.
But can you explain more about "Cost proportional measurement method is suitable for work packages where costs and services have a constant relationship"
    Thanks a lot,

  • Valuation method for Reasult Analysis

    Dear PS experts,
Normally what is the valuation method we are using in india.  I assueme 03 is the correct valuation method for calculating wip in india.  Is there any other method can u explain.
    Regards

    Hi,
It depends also on the following points:
1.If you are using Milestone Billing or Partial Billing use Method 01,02 or 03.
2.If you using RRB then go for method 14 or method 15.
3.If you want to calculate RA on the basis of Progress then use progress bases method.

  • Quantity base POC method of result analysis

    hello all,
We are trying to create the result analysis key with quantity based POC method for Projects. we are choosing the Profit basis as E,K,M but we are getting the error ' Profit basis is only used for sales order.
Can anybody help resolving the issue?
    Regards,
    sudhir

    RamSiva,
I see that you've got the calculated COGS equal to the actual cost.  I would have thought that for quantity based POC the calculated cost should be equal to POC x C(p).  So if that's the case, I think the postings should be as follows:
    Debit Revenue for 36,000
Credit Reserve for Revenue surplus for 36,000
    Since I don't know what the planned cost were I don't know what the correct signs are for COGS adjustment;
    Debit / Credit (Expense)
Debit / Credit (Capitalized cost or reserve for unrealized cost, depending on the sign)
If R(a) less than R(c) then:
    Credit Revenue
Debit Revenue in excessive of billings
    thanks,

  • Redo IOPS Estimation Method

    Hi,
We are trying to estimate the IOPS for a group of applications for a client using AWRs.
We estimated the database IOPS using the following AWR statistics:
    - physical read total IO requests & physical write total IO requests
This appears correct, however it does not include redo IOPS. By using the following related stats and formula:
    - redo blocks written / redo writes,
Then, the number of blocks per write can be obtained
Is it correct to assume that the result (blocks per write) does equate to an disk IO operation ?
    Thanks
    Oli

This estimation will provide performance requirements for the new target storage system. At this stage, irrespective of the target underlying SAN RAID design.Interesting. In my experience the major factor in deciding on a new storage system has always been a budgetary one - not a performance one. As is in "+we have approximately $x to spend, we need zTB, what is available and best suited?+"
Personally, I do not think in-depth I/O analysis is a meaningful exercise to determine performance requirements for a new storage system. Several reasons. Complexity. Effort. And the very real likelihood that due to the complexity of the I/O layers, something or some component will not be calculated or understood correctly, or will be very different on the new storage system, making this performance calculation exercise mostly useless (and possible dangerously so).
A simple thing as a large memory cache can make a major difference between one storage system and another. Something like RAID5 vs RAID10 can make a major performance difference on the same storage system where there are no ASIC-type capabilities to offload parity calculations.
So it is critical that is such a performance analysis and calculation exercise be done, real technical experts (at I/O layer level) be consulted. Mistakes cannot be afforded if you want to do detailed analysis and use those results for accurate performance calculation for purchasing new kit.
I would rather get a general view from the o/s itself of what the bytes/sec read and write rates are to the current storage devices and ensure that the new storage system can sustain that easily. This is a higher level view of the basic size of the I/O pipe you need - and despite being a basic view, provides a fair one for making a decision on storage array selection and purchasing.
If I/O performance is that critical, budget not a factor, then why even bother with a detailed technical analysis and performance calculations? Why not simply go for something high-end like a SSD storage array?
