ESX24 rumble and random notes

Hi everyone,
I just upgraded to Logic Pro from Logic Express and have a question about the ESX24 sampler. I loaded a preset synth into ESX24 (something like "Saw Flanger", not sure of name...) and WITHOUT pressing a note on my MIDI keyboard, ESX24 is generating a very loud rumbling bass sound and firing off random notes that sound like high to low pitched signals. This happens with a few other presets, as well. I have tried to adjust different knobs and click on buttons within the ESX24, but nothing solves the problem.
When I press a note on my MIDI keyboard or the CAPS LOCK keyboard, the sound temporarily goes away then comes back. This happens even when I record, which adds unwanted sounds into my recording.
Can anyone help me understand what is happening? Do I need to restart my computer or is it something within the ESX24 that I'm not understanding?

I have noticed something similar, with instrument tracks, but I don't think so bad. I noticed that sometimes, if I click off the Record button on one instrument track, and click it on in another rather soon (which, if I remember right, has the same instrument), one of them plays the full audio file of the instrument.
After that it seems OK. My audio files for instruments are long but don't loop, but if yours loop, that may explain the longer-term playing.
Try clicking the record button on and off on some different track and then go back to the one you want to record.

Don't panic. OS X 10.5.8 is the most popular PowerPC OS out there. People run it everyday without security breaches, including myself. It isn't Windows!

I made a slide show with music and random transitions in iPhoto. I can't burn it to a DVD. The burn button in iPhoto is not highlighted, and when I exported the slide show to iDVD, it lost the random transistions, and the disk won't play in DVD player.

Two problems: 1. My iphoto slide show loses its random transitions when I export it to iDVD.
2. When I then burn it to a disk, the disk will not play in a DVD player, but only on my MAC.
Any ideas?

The random transitions can only be random when played in iPhoto.
If you are in the slideshow mode and use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option a quictime movie will be created of the slideshow with the first random set of transitions and imported into iDVD. The transitions, however, will be fixed permanently and will not be changed again.
There is no way to get any sort of random behavior in an iDVD. When it's burned to disk it's locked permanently.

Try to set it up as new device, this time without using the latest backup. If this does not work, contact Apple to get it checked.

Firefox 4.0b10 will randomly lock up and say (Not Responding) in the title bar, and sometimes takes 1min to become usable again.

Most of the time when I launch Firefox 4.0b10 it will hang for 30sec-1min before loading. It will show a white page and say (Not Responding) in the title bar.
It also does this when opening a new tab, clicking any link, and sometimes scrolling down a page.

My McCaffee was a trial thing, I think. I clicked on it to see if it was updated, and it said it was expired. So I'm just going to uninstall it completely and install AdAware, which is all I've ever used for years and never had a problem.
It occurs to me -- this must (?) have something to do with my new computer... it was slow right out of the box, and I called ASUS tech support the second day I had the puter up and running, and the tech asked me to do a System File Check (SFC), but discovered that the normal pathways through which one would do a SFC (according to him) did not work - the machine would not either recognize them or it would simply swallow the command and then just do nothing... he put me on hold for a few minutes. He came back with a workaround (don't remember it exactly, but it involved a DOS prompt), and I was able to finally run a SFC, which revealed "corrupted files" that had to be "repaired."
In a brand new computer? That can't be a good thing... Maybe the system software factory install was just a bad install? Because I had some slow Firefox issues on my old machine (Acer, dual core, 4gRAM, 2009 machine), but NOTHING like this. This is getting very frustrating. I'm used to just sitting down to my computer and using it, not sitting down and fighting with it for 2 or 3 minutes or more before i can do anything.

Random notes not sounding

I use a Motif ES6 for external sounds for sequencing on the GM tracks and the ESX24 for internal sounds for sequencing on the Instrument tracks, I possibly have a combination of 8-10 tracks recorded when I experience this problem. Tracks will start missing random notes during playback. When I open the matrix editor, the notes are still there, and each time I stop and play it back, its a different note that seems to cut out. Very frustrating!!! I'm wondering if its a lack of disk space issue. I'm also using Vienna instruments and occassionally it will stop playing and a message will appear saying there is a Core Audio Engine Overload, but resumes as normal when I hit ok. Any suggestions as to why there could be notes not sounding at different times? Its very random and usually only happens on one track at a time.

Could you describe your Mainstage concert a bit? Which Plug-ins are you using? Do you have the same problems if using Garageband or Logic?
From the desscription above I'd look after occasional CPU overloads, which can happen while the instruments does its voice allocations, etc. This can be tamed with an increased buffer size. Check, if the I/O safety buffer is enabled. Try playing with that setting. You'll find these things in teh preferences.

When you double-click the shortcut icon on the computer i tunes download it for 1 second and does not do anything after that. I've tried to open i tunes, the system administrator, but not any result. What can I do?

gaah. i think you and your brother have correctly diagnosed the problem.
there's a Qoologic variant that has been causing "error-less" itunes launch failure since late October. it's associated with the "license screen flash" symptom. it also drops randomly-generated-4-and-6-letter-name startup items in people's PCs.
Ewido and AdAware have typically been getting rid of it for people, so it's a bit disturbing that they aren't touching it in your case. however, we also have a "manual" removal technique that has been working for people. let's see if Dave's technique works for you:

2 day old iphone 5s turns off at 95% battery life and will not turn back on. HELP

So I had an iphone 4s for two years, the battery started to not last as long, so with my upgrade I got the iphone 5s (greatttt). Anyways I had it for a month then all of a sudden I wasn't getting calls, it took over a minute for me to even get a call to send, then once I was on the call others couldn't hear me well, then it would drop (no problems with service, always happened with full bars). Brought it to Apple store, they told me it was a combination between the phone and my SIM card. They gave me a new one and recommended I go to verizon to get a new SIM card. That same day literally 3 hours later, the phone turned off randomly at 65% battery and WOULD NOT turn back on. I had to go back to the apple store, they restored my phone and almost gave me another new one. However they tested the battery and everything and came to the conclusion it was okay and that I needed to restore the phone and set it up as if I did not already have an iphone (not use icloud to bring EVERYTHING over) So we did that and it started to work, that was two days ago. Over the course of the last two days I have SLOWLY downloaded my previous APPS, however the only way to download those are to do it from the "cloud" because apparently I can't just get them from the app store. Well yesterday I got the blue screen of death, however it came back, I thought nothing except that it was over worked. Tonight it went down to 1%, I left it on the charger until it was at 96%. I had NO APPS open. Went to my calendar and added a event for tomorrow, put my phone down and then ten minutes later looked at it and its turned off. It will not turn on, I tried rebooting pressing both buttons, Ive plugged it back it, switched outlets, switched cords, NOTHING.
Of course I wish I never got the iphone 5s at this point.
What now?
