The first thing you must do is make sure that when the user connects with the Remote Desktop session that they allow their computer to share their disk drives with the remote computer (via the "more" or "options" button on the bottom of the screen (there seem to be a couple of versions of RD out there).  Each time after that, they'll get prompted for sharing the drives again, and they can then tell it to stop issuing that message for that connection, so they don't get it all the time.
Then what you need to do to access the drive from the remote session is to change your hard-coded path to
tsclient\C\Test\sample.txt.  You can see how this works yourself by starting a session
as suggested above, then going to windows explorer on the server. Go into the address bar and type
tsclient\  and after a delay, it should show you all the client's connected drives in a drop-down box.
I don't know how dependent this is on the server OS, but it works fine for me on 2000.

Firstly, what is the source of the 10.6.4 disc? Is it the original installation disc for your MacBook, or one 'borrowed' from another computer?
It isn't the retail version, because that's 10.6.3.
Assuming it's the correct disc (i.e. the one that shipped with your Mac), you need to boot from it again.
    OK the language page.
From the installer screen, ignore the continue button, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.).
Run Repair Disk. If that comes up as disk OK, click the partition tab. Select the partiton from the drop-down above the graphic; 1 partiton is all you need.
Go to the options button and ensure that the partition scheme is GUID and the file system to Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Name the partiton (usually Macintosh HD), click Apply.
When the Macintosh HD volume appears below the drive name, quit DU and see if you can then install.
If the screen after the language screen doesn't show the menu bar, it may be necessary to use another Mac to do the job with the MB in Firewire Target Disc Mode. If it won't boot in TDM, or the MB doesn't have FireWire then it's getting very difficult.

If it's a generic SATA HD you'll probably need to format it for Mac using Disk Utility.

I can't remember how I got the current copy but I think I may have downloaded a monthly rental copy because the program is asking me to pay a subscription fee.  I was expecting to get a message to install my serial numbers.

You downloaded the trial version for the creative cloud. It doesn't work with a serial number. It is licensed differently. You will have to uninstall it and then download and install from here:

  • Satellite A200-137 - Can not install windows after hard disk crash

I install with Toshiba recovery DVD windows Vista on it and after succesfull install i have to start windows, it says preparing windows for first use then i have to wait a moment and then i get the message that windows installation is not completed. But it is complete!
After trying for 3 times installing with recovert I tried to install windows xp.
After a couple of minutes and transering files, I get the message no disk found! It says that there is no hard disk on the laptop!
But when I start up the boot menu or the setup menu I can see the 500 gb Hitachi hard disk!
So why can windows not find the hard disk and why can I not start windowds visat after installing with the recovery dvd?

    > So why can windows not find the hard disk and why can I not start windowds visat after installing with the recovery dvd?
On this virtual way it is not easy to say why you cannot install recovery image. It would be interesting to know if the same will happen when you replace HDD with the same or identical one.
Which capacity has had original HDD?
If possible try to obtain original Microsoft installation disc and check if HDD will be recognized by Vista or Win7 and of course if you will be able to install and start preinstalled OS.
About WXP installation: it is well known that WXP installation will not starts properly due to missing SATA driver that must be loaded before WXP installation starts.
Check this forum and you will find hundreds of threads with detailed explanation why this happen and what can you do about it.

  • I need to install a new hard disk - not sure how to install

    Hello;
I travelled for a month, and didn't turn off my imac, which I thought I did. My country is hot at this time of the year.
When I got back home, I found that the desktop was crashed, so I did a restart and the computer never booted. I tried again and again.
I performed qa recovery boot, and using the utility I tried to do a disk repair. It initially found problems and started working on them. However, it always crashed in the process after many hours. After several repititions and a lot of research, I booted my iMac with a ubuntu live CD and the diagnoses it performed told me that:-
1- The hard disk will fail, and this is inevitable, something about S.M.A.R.T. (?).
2- There were HDD fan cooling thermal problem, and some read/write problems, and something third.
At this point, I recovered the 'User' folder that includes  the desktop, my documents, pictures, etc, and seems ok to run on other O/s's.
I am willing to also retrieve the applications folder if possible, with all the programs.
I feel I need to replace my 1 TB hdd with a new one, but if I did, I have no clue how to install it. I do not have the installation CD's. I bought it installed, and then upgraded to snow leapord using iTunes.
If I found a shop to do the replacement of the HDD' how would I install Snow Leapord again? Is there any other advise?

5 hours to do 6 GB of transfer is NOT normal, even for USB 2.0 so there's something wrong here. I'd say cancel it, wipe the drive and then test the integrity of the drive. Do some file transfers over to and see if it's behaving normally. It could be a bad USB cable, it could be a bad drive or bad enclosure. As it's new, I suspect you haven't really put it through its paces yet and it's important to do that first before commissioning it to serve as your "reliable backup."

  • Installing 80 gb hard disk from G4 into beige desktop G3

I have a 266 ghz beize desktop G3 with a 4 gb hard drive and 384 mb of memory, running OS 9.2.2. I use the G3 as a spare for my Mirror Door 1.25 ghz G4. I run OS 10.3.9 on the G4. I would prefer to run OS 10.3.9 on the G3.
I thought I would buy a new hard drive for the G4, copy the existing hard drive on to the new hard drive, and install the G4's 80 gb hard drive into the G3. I tried installing the G4 hard drive into the G3 and booting. The screen began showing "No HFS bootable partition" and kept printing this across the screen until about a quarter filled. The screen then reverted to the disk symbol with flashing question mark (can't find the start-up disk).
No problem with the G4 hard disk back in the G4. Not so the G3 with its original 4 gb hard disk reinstalled. I kept getting the same "No HFS bootable partition" printing across the screen and then reverting to the disk symbol with flashing question mark (can't find the start-up disk). I have another working beige G3 and the result was identical.
I tried starting from Nortons and then from the original OS 8.5 CD. After many, many restarts, the G3 began starting from the 4 gb hard disk again (not every time, but appears stable now). Does anyone have idea where I am going wrong. Does it have something to do with the Mac OS extended fromat on the G4 hard disk? Any ideas why the G3 could not find the reinstalled OS9 4 gb drive after my attempt?

Jaguar (OS 10.2.X) will install on the Beige without XPostFacto. There are some hoops (like the under 8GB boot partition) through which we all must pass to install it, but the Beige G3 "officially" supports Jaguar.
Any OS that's 10.3 or higher must have XPostFacto to install on a Beige. XPostFacto writes ROM code that the Beige cannot do alone, permitting the newer OS to install and run.
If you have a retail install copy of Panther, it came on CDs and avoids the DVD problem. Some people have posted here that Panther seems more stable on the Beige than Tiger. From what I can tell, Panther and Tiger, for most uses within the Beige's capability, differ only in Dashboard and Spotlight. Both are cool, but I can live without them.
Partitioning: I make the "under 8GB" partition as large as possible by manually entering "7.99" in the window that shows the desired partition size. The resulting partition comes out around 7.8 G after formatting. If you install Panther or Tiger, you need to have a valid OS9 operating system in the other partition with the XPostFacto application. XPF requires you boot from OS9 and launch XPF, which then loads the required data to get a boot from the OSX installer CD.

  • Best way to install a new hard disk

    Hi,
I need to change to a bigger hard disk in a Mac Pro G5.
First I used time machine and after the restore, Final Cut ask me to enter the serial number.
Is there a way to move to a new hard disk with out the need to re-install Final Cut and all other Pro Aplications? I heard about clonning a hard drive, but then how do I grow the partition in the new hard disk?
I plane later to format the old hard disk.
    Many thanks
    Oliver

    Hi David,
thanks for your help, I ended up using Time Machine, installing Leopard on the new hard drive and restoring all applications using the wizzard during first boot of Leopard.
After launching Final Cut Pro 4.5, it asked for the serial, so I entered the serial from the about window that I get in the old hard disk.

"it shows macintosh HD OSX 10.9.5 but the hard drive that is supposed to be in the upper right corner is not showing up. So it is booting from that drive."
Ok go to "Finder" preferences and make sure the "Hard disk" box is checked.
That will make your boot disk show up in the upper right corner. You can tell it's a boot disk because all the files will look like this instead of just being blank files.

    Hi,
Given the fact that you're receiving a Smart error ( 301 ) for the hard drive, this is almost certainly why you are running into issue when try to reinstall Windows 7 and to correct this, the drive will need to be replaced.
This is a fairly straight forward procedure as detailed below.
Your notebook is listed as coming with a 320Gb HDD, however the drive on the link below is an example of one that would be fine for your notebook and offers a bit more storage.
    500Gb Hard Drive
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 53 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, just install Windows 7 on the new drive.
Any drivers you require can be found on the following link.

  • PowerBook G4 1Ghz (Nov 2002) - can i install a 160gb Hard Disk inside?

    Hi
    I have a PowerBook G4 1Ghz (Nov 2002). I want to upgrade the internal 4200rpm 60gb drive to a 5400rpm 160gb.
Can my PowerBook address the full 160gb? Or is it limited to only addessing 128GB of it.
This page seems to says any mac introduced after June 2002 will be fine with drives over 128GB, but it seems like it's just refering to desktop macs.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86178
Can anybody confirm that it will work?
    Thanks!

I'm just wondering why the 667 won't recognise them?
The ATA controller used in those logic boards is not 48-bit LBA compliant. The first Powerbook LBs that had such a controller were the 867MHz and 1GHz boards used in the later DVI Tibooks. Other Macs introduced around the same time also had controllers that allowed the use of internal ATA drives larger than 128GB. So yes, the second part of your post is probably correct.
But be aware that after upgrading to a faster LB, you may no longer be able to boot to the discs that were shipped with your Powerbook or to those that were shipped with any other Powerbook, including a factory 867MHz or 1GHz Tibook. If that's the case, as it has been for some others who've reported here, it will leave you without any way of reinstalling a bootable OS 9.2.2, in case you ever want to. OS X 10.2.3 or higher can be installed from a retail installer disc set. But there's never been a retail OS 9.2.2 disc, and the DVI Tibooks won't boot to anything lower, so no retail OS 9 disc is usable with any of those models. This mattters less and less to most people as OS 9 recedes into the past, but it's something to be aware of.

  • Satellite P200-1EE Can I install a 2nd hard disk in the spare bay?

    First of all, hi everyone!
I have the above model laptop, and it has a spare disk bay. There are pin connectors at one end, but it does not seem like the drive will fit. It's like there is a component missing - like the connector slot housing for the 1st drive. I have bought a 500GB drive, and have tried seeing whether it would fit. The 1st drive has a metal caddy attached, and that did not work either.
Is it possible to fit a 2nd drive to this model? If so, what would I need to do it?
    Thanks!
    Andy

    Hi
If you have a connector in second HDD bay you can add a second HDD. But you will need such a metal caddy as on the first HDD. Therefore you can contact an authorized service provider because you can get all spare parts from them.
On the Toshiba website is a list of all ASPs, check this!!!

I am currently thinking of buying a new hard drive with bigger size, say 500GB, to replace the original one...but I am not sure if the original reinstallation CDs would allow me to reinstall the whole system on the new hard drive.
Anyone can share their expertise with me???
