Ethernet address lost after uninstalling Office 2008

I use AsanteTalk with an Ethernet cable to print to HP printer. Uninstalled Office 2008 and can no longer print. Assumed first it was a Printer/OS X issue and have question in that forum. Have now noticed that there is no longer an Ip address for the built in Ethernet. Unfortunately, uninstalled on 2 laptops, and both can no long print.
How to recapture the IP address would be very helpful in starting to problem solve this issue.

Ok, computer finally found it's ethernet address. Still can't print but that could be another issue.

I lost my Ethernet connection after the 10.5.7 update. I have checked all cables and ports. Any ideas?

Hi, I tried rebooting with shift down, then rebooting again. No network still.
I looked in /var/log/system.log, but nothing from AppleYukon2.
I pasted the relevant portion from system.log beginning with the shutdown prior to rebooting with shift. I hope there's not too much text...........
The log below includes the reboot while holding shift as well as the subsequent reboot.
I did see several useful messages in the system log (below), for example:
    May 13 15:52:44 localhost kernel[0]: GbE en0: en0 Link down
    May 13 15:52:44 localhost kernel[0]: GbE en1: en1 Link down
    Thanks for your help.

  • Can't uninstall Office 2008 on Mountain Lion

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and put my account on it, from Time Machine, from my previous MacBook. This included Office 2008 which I then had to reinstall in order to update the licence code (my wife has the old MacBook, so we couldn't both use Office simultaneously). Then I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. However it now won't install any Office updates - I get the message:
"You cannot install Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.0 Update on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."
I have tried every workaround suggested - and there are a few - including the one where you edit the package_update file. No success at all.
The simplest workaround ought to be to uninstall Office altogether and do a clean re-install. But here's the thing: I can't uninstall, neither by dragging it to the trash, nor by using Remove Office. Each time I try, I get this message:
"The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."
There are 1382 files to delete, so I'm not going to check each one using Get Info. I've used Disk Utility to repair permissions - no joy.
    Can someone help me uninstall

    dnr16 wrote:
OK, I finally solved it myself - though this may not work for everyone. My wife's MacBook was still running Lion and was able to install all the Office 2008 updates. So I copied the updated version across. I then had to re-register it with my own code.
Simple, in a way. But why did it have to be so hard in the first place? I still don't understand why I couldn't uninstall Office.
Probably something that can be addressed by the developers on MS Office on their Troubleshoting forums, perhaps.

  • Safari Keychain error after installing Office 2008 for Macs

I installed Office 2008 for Macs this morning. It then checked for updates to download, found a couple of big ones, and they were downloaded.
Since then, when in Safari, I keep getting a message saying something like "A keychain cannot be found for Safari" with 2 options: Cancel or Return to Default. Neither one changes anything.
I use only web-based email (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo) so this is a major annoyance for me.
From Office 2008 for Macs, I really only need to use Word & Excel, so I would like to uninstall Entourage, Messenger and probably PowerPoint as well. However, at this point I'm, afraid to do anything else. (Also, i thought it was strange I didn't have a chance to pick w/ Office products to install.)
Any ideas on how to get rid of this Keychain message in Safari?
    MTIA!

Follow Up: A few days later, there was a Apple software update. After it was installed, the keychain error message went away.
The keychain error was so annoying, I had decided not to install Office for Macs on my iMac, but since there's no longer a problem on my MacBook, I will probably go ahead and put it on the iMac.

  • Cannot instal SQL 2008 even after uninstalling VS 2008.

    Hi,
I am getting the error "Previous release of Visual Studio 2008" failed. I am getting the same error even after uninstalling all the .Net components
    including Visual Studio.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Please try this method:
    1. Removing every mention of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in the Registry.
    2. Installing SP1's for every of the 4 Express parts of Visual Studio 2008
    more info:

First, I do not believe that Office 2011 is any less stable than Office 2008.  I've used both (although admittedly I'm not a power user as you appear to be) and haven't had any more problems with 2011 than I did with 2008.  Furthermore, Microsoft is much more likely to fix things in 2011 than they are in 2008.
Second, I find it hard to imagine that Arial really isn't there.  It's such a universally used font.
Third, the reason bar codes have been removed is because they are no longer USPS compliant.  Check the Microsoft web site for this information.
Finally, if you have concerns you don't have to listen to what other people say.  Microsoft offers a free trial download of the full Office 2011 suite - including Outlook should you decide you want to try that as well.  Download it to your system, try it out, and decide for yourself if you like it enough to use it.  If you do, all you have to do is buy a license key and you're all set.  You don't even have to reinstall.  You can choose to buy the Home and Student license that does not include Outlook, or the Home and Business license that does.
Disclaimer: I do not, nor have I ever, worked for Microsoft or Apple.  I have no vested interest in what you do or do not buy.

  • Printing SLOW after MS Office 2008 install

No matter what I print, from a simple text file to a complex PDF, while the print dialog comes up quickly, the job sits in the queue and shows as "active" for a full minute or longer before actually printing.
I have not made any hardware changes to explain this. The only software change is the installation of Microsoft Office 2008 (and its updates). A Google search reveals nothing that can connect these two events.
I have replaced USB cables and switched USB ports to no avail.
I erased the error_log file (which contained no telltale signs) in /var/etc/cups. I've repaired permissions. I've disabled extraneous fonts in Font Book. All to no avail.
The upgrade to 10.5.4, of course, did not fix the problem either.
I am at my wit's end and have no idea where/what else to investigate.

I never mentioned printing from Office. Printing of any file, even a 1-page pure text file, produces this lag. Previously, something that small would print instantly.
The results are the same when printing from another Mac on my network. It's not a network printer, but it is shared via OS X.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X lost after uninstall of CS5.5 - now cannot reinstall

I installed Creative Cloud.  Then Deactivvated and uninstalled CS5.5.  I lost Acrobat Pro X and cloud installer (which is the only option to download and install) still says "installed".  Do I have to uninstall and reinstall the whole suite to get this right?  If so, Adobe needs to warn users to uninstall CS5.5 (etc) BEFORE install Creative Cloud.  Jeez.

It seems that the uninstallation of acrobat was not successful and hence CC shows it as "Installed".
If you have uninstalled CS5.5 completely, you can also try using this cleaner tool : https://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html to clean all the remaining traces of CS 5.5 (use it carefully and chooe options carefully).

  • My Docks lost after uninstalling psoftware

    Guys,
need your help...to solve my problem. Last night, I uninstalled aperture and resulted in my mac getting slower. This morning when I opened my mac, the dock is missing from this mac and this mac become slower.
confused and really need your help to solve this problem

There is no way to restore or retrieve your previous bookmarks sadly, unless you have backed them up yourself, or used Firefox Sync to save them. For more information on setting it up, refer to the link below.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync?s=firefox+sync+setup&r=0&e=sph&as=s
I believe that may be an annoying pop-up people get, when their Windows is not "Genuine," according to Microsoft.
I'm so sorry for your lost; that happened to me a few years ago. Aaron.

  • IP address lost after reboot

    hello,
When I reboot the Sun box and run "ifconfig -a" qfe0 shows no IP and I cannot ping it.
I dont know what is going wrong?

I have never worked with the V210, so I can't say for certain whether it should or should not have a bge interface. So consider this response to be more of a general response.
Sun is somewhat notorious in my experience for changing network interfaces between revisions of the same system. The fact that it "should" have a bge interface doesn't mean anything.
You can confirm that the system has defined a bge interface with the following command:
    grep \"bge\" /etc/path_to_inst
If you do get a result, the final column is the instance number. If you don't get a result then you either don't have a bge interface or the operating system for whatever reason doesn't support it. (Too early a version to know about bge? Perhaps Sun dropped support in newer Solaris versions?)

  • Mailman addresses lost after migration!

The lists are there, because I can still get at them via the web interface, but attempting to email to any of the several dozen lists I hosts bounces with the list name as an unknown user.
How to I hook those wires back together? I looked through /etc/postfix/main.cf and /var/mailman/data, and can see nothing obviously wrong.
If it makes any difference, I migrated from a quad G5 Leopard Server (case sensitive) to a Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server. THAT was a joke, with MySQL totally borked due to the migration not detecting the case insensitivity of the target volume, and I had to reformat the second Mac Mini volume to case sensitive and re-install Snow Leopard Server. Sheesh!

To answer my own question, I had to modify /usr/share/mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py, which Apple failed to preserve. I needed to define:
    POSTFIXSTYLE_VIRTUALDOMAINS = [ 'www.champagnebeadwork.com', 'www.craftedbycarol.com', 'www.ecoreality.org', 'www.ecovillagenews.org', 'www.goatonarock.com', 'www.creenchipper.ca', 'www.plantofarm.org', 'www.veggievangogh.com' ]
    for each virtual domain.
Apple support was no help whatsoever, even though Snow Leopard Server came with this "Support ID" along with the serial numbers. They offered me an "incident" for $695 -- 70% of the cost of the server!

  • Safari loads like snail mail after upgrading to MS Office 2008 SVP1

I installed the latest Microsoft update to office today. Immediately after that Safari came to a grinding halt. It takes forever to get to any page. Anyone seen similar problem?

Same thing has happened to my MacBook running 10.5.3
Safari just hangs without opening a page, this right after updating Office 2008.....using Firefox at the moment and would like to know who else is having this issue.

I have just upgraded Office 2008 to 2011.  I presumed that the 2008 version would be removed as the new one went in.  It wasn't.  How do I uninstall Office 2008 from my iMac?

  • Microsoft Office 2008 SP1 Upgrade Problem

    Hi,
I have Office 2008 running perfectly on my computer, and just recently downloaded the two upgrades from the MS website for SP1 12.1.0 and then the latest update for 12.1.3. However, when I install 12.1.0, every time I try to open an MS application, it pops up with the setup assistant, asks me to register, closes, asks to check for updates, and then quits. It won't let any programs run. If I do a fresh install of Office 2008, it works again. The minute I upgrade, it stops.
    Any ideas?

I had a problem installing 12.1.3 yesterday and had to completely uninstall MS Office before it would successfully install. I would suggest calling MS Support, they will coach you on the correct way to fully uninstall Office 2008 and then assist on how to install it so the update works. It took me about 40 minutes on the phone yesterday but it was solved. The phone number I used was (866) 474-4882.
    Gotta love Microsoft software...not!
