Ethernet and XP Laptop will not see Aiport Wireless devices.

All, I have a HP XP Pro Laptop plugged into a Express N configured to connect to a extreme N set to 5ghz. My Desktop works, but my laptop won't see any wireless devices when airport utility comes up. I am trying to use Itunes to see 2 apple tv's, 2 other express g's, etc. My desktop works fine and sees all devices when plugged in the ethernet express N. Wireless connection also works fine as I bridged a G express to the N, for dual band integrity. I can connect to the internet with it, but it won't recognize the shared drive off the extreme, so itunes / apple tvs are dead to it. I have tried the following:
_ Uninstalled and reinstalled, itunes, bonjour
- Repaired under add/ removed programs for itunes / bonjour
- added a 5353 port manually - had to remove (conflict)
- Shut off Firewall settings
- Checked all boxes for bonjour under allow exceptions
I am stumped guys. Any help for this DIY'r would be appreciated!

I recently acquired a SuperMicro chassis that has a SAS2 expander backplane. It has SFF-8087 ports on it.http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/other/BPN-SAS2-846EL.pdfI made a post on another forum and someone mentioned that the card couldn't be used with that backplane since it's a SATA controller, however, the backplane is both SAS and SATA device compliant, it's only the RAID controller, as far as I know, that is a "SATA II" controller, and not a SAS controller. So, I couldn't find anything in the official documentation of this controller on whether or not it was able to control SAS devices. The card itself has a 3 SFF-8087 ports though, couldn't this theoretically still be used with a SFF-8087 to SFF-8087 cable(seen below)since the backplane is a SAS/SATA backplane?...

  • Macbook (4,1) "/" key not working, and the laptop will not stay off.

Yesterday my macbook keyboard and trackpad stopped working suddenly. I was in the middle of something so I plugged in a nearby usb keyboard and mouse and kept working. I shut down my machine and tried to turn it back on. Nothing happened.
An hour later I tried again to power it on. This time it worked, however my "/" key doesn't do anything, and when I shut down the computer it powers right back on.
I bought the laptop in early 2008, early 2009 Apple replaced the top part of the case and the hard disk under warranty. My question is; what are my options for getting this fixed without paying $$$? Will Apple be helpful here since it appears their replacement part is malfunctioning?

Items replaced under warranty repair are typically only covered as far as the original warranty term. Still, I would take it in and have it checked as it sounds like there is either a loose connector or fault in the keyboard assembly.

  • Airport Express will not see my wireless network

Our old AE died last week. I bought a brand new AE today. Tried to wirelessly join our existing DIR-655 network (just like the old AE). Plugged it in where the old AE was. It didn't see our network, just the neighbor's.
I took it upstairs and plugged it in. Again it didn't see my network, but it saw a different neighbor's.
Plugged it in directly to the DIR-655 via ethernet. I get 4 networks, none of them mine.
I'm pulling my hair out. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Herb

    Guess what?! It's working!
I did two things. I increased the beacon rate of my 655 from 20 to 100. Then I did a factory reset (my 9th ot 10th) and held it until the light stopped flashing period.
I do appreciate the help. I have not been happy for a few hours

  • Upon waking from sleep, laptop will not reconnect to wireless net.

If my laptop is on and I'm using it and I close it to put it away for a bit, when I come back to open it, it doesn't reconnect to the internet all the time.
I have to restart the computer in order to get it to reconnect to my wireless net. Just wondering if anyone knows what's going on.
    Thanks!

besides setting the network as preffered and in the network settings udner the options for airport make sure it will connect to any available network, there isnt much else to do
some times it jus takes 30-60 seconds, also check that the network is paired to the location (if you have separate locations)

  • Updated my desktop software to the latest version and now it will not connect to my device.

I tried a new cable. I just did a backup before I updated my desktop - version 7.1.0.41.  I am running Windows 7

Teaboy's link had many links within it but not the one I usually suggest when a phone is not being recognized.  Let me add my fave link:

    I hope that helps.

  • I am connected to time capsule via wi-fi but air port says not connected and disk utility does not see it

I am connected to time capsule via wi-fi but air port says not connected and disk utility does not see it. I had it connected via ethernet and it still did not see it. Then i disconncectd it from ethernet and did the Wi-fi connection and am able to post this message but air port still does not see it.

Disk Utility will not "see" the Time Capsule, so no need to waste any more time on that issue.
but air port still does not see it.
Not sure what you mean by "air port" here.

  • Macbook will not see wireless network

My new Macbook will not see my wireless network. My Windows 2000 PC, my Ipod touch and my Macbook Pro (jaguar) all see it no problem and work well with it.
I have tried entering the network name manually and it does not work. I have WEP password protection.
The macbook sees and connects to all other wireless networks I've encountered (father-in-law's house, Airport departure lounges, hotspots etc.). The macbook also sees my neighbours networks no problem.
    I am confused, please help.

I am having the same issue, a friend visited with his new Mac Mini, running Leopard, and it would not see the wireless network, that 3 other macs (PowerBook G4, iBooks G4 and G3) running Tiger (10.4.11) and Windows machines recognize without problem.
I'm wondering if the issue is Leopard and 3rd party routers or MY router in particular, as I have a US Robotics 5461, and I remember when a previous roommate replaced her G4 iBook, running Tiger, with a MacBook Intel running Leopard, she also had issues connecting wirelessly.
My friend's Mini had no problem recognizing all the neighbors networks (at least 4 or 5) and I'm pretty sure they are not Mac users with an Airport Base Station.
I was hoping to upgrade my G4 PowerBook (once I get it repaired) to Leopard in the future, but I don't want to lose the ability to connect to my wireless network.
Has anyone running Leopard run into this problem and found a solution?

  • Itunes will not see Slvr

I am running the latest Itunes and now Itunes will not see Slvr. It will sync my address book and calendars but will not see slvr in Itunes. This is a Cingular phone. I hope someone has a fix.

I'm having the same issue. I called Apple and they weren't able to help. This is crazy. The phone isn't even a year old. Is this just a gimmick to get us to buy the new iPhone?
I tried all the fixes outlined on another post and nothing works.

  • Ipod will not see Computer

I have a Ipod 5gen and It will not see my computer and my computer will not see the Ipod I have tried different cords. I can't connect to another computer and I can charge my Ipod via a wall charger but not my computer. If anyone can help me please do I've been trying to sync scene November. Thanks

    Try this:
plug in your iPod. reset the ipod by holding down the center and menu buttons for ten seconds. as SOON as you see the apple logo, hold down the center and play/pause buttons until you see the connecting symbol.
if itunes doesn't recognize it, try opening up disk utility (if you're on a mac) and restoring the drive. if you're on a PC, just see if you can find the ipod showing up anywhere and reformat it and then restore via itunes.
    good luck!

  • HT4623 loaded ios7 and now imessage will not activate

Your device has previously been hacked or jailbroken to unlock it for use on other carriers.
Updating has likely bricked the device.

  • Laptop does not recognize ipod (this device is malfunctioning)

I installed the new itunes and my laptop will not charge, or recognize the ipod is connected. It wont even charge on my pc anymore but, it will charge on my work pc, I only have itunes on my laptop and it use to charge on my pc. help please. If I uninstalled all apple contents should I just move all the songs to another player before I do that, I don't want to loose my current content in itunes.

If it's not even charging, it's probably just your usb port on your computer.
Try plug it in another usb port, and see if the same problem exists.
I wouldn't say it's a problem with iTunes, try these things first:

Does the iOS devices connect to other networks?
Does the iOS devices see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Since both iPhone and iPod stopped connecting I suspect a problem with your network.
