Ethernet connection lost after update to 10.5.7

I lost my Ethernet connection after the 10.5.7 update. I have checked all cables and ports. Any ideas?

Hi, I tried rebooting with shift down, then rebooting again. No network still.
I looked in /var/log/system.log, but nothing from AppleYukon2.
I pasted the relevant portion from system.log beginning with the shutdown prior to rebooting with shift. I hope there's not too much text...........
The log below includes the reboot while holding shift as well as the subsequent reboot.
I did see several useful messages in the system log (below), for example:
May 13 15:52:44 localhost kernel[0]: GbE en0: en0 Link down
May 13 15:52:44 localhost kernel[0]: GbE en1: en1 Link down
Thanks for your help.

  • OSX 10.6.7 gets confused on access and connection rights after updateing device or program

    Hello
On all our 4 Mac, all with Snow Leopard 10.6.7, I have an issue with storing access and network connection rights after updating programs and devices.
We have a Canon network printer. Everything worked fine, the necessary programs had the rights to accept incoming network connections. But then I reinstalled the printer on two Macs because of the PDF fonts problem with 10.6.7. But now, the system asks for every single document if incomming connection should be allowed, even if the according program is listed in the firewall as "allow". Deleting the program from the list in the firewall and add it newly did not help.
The same issue occures now with a selfwritten Applescript program. It access a key in the keychain. I told the system to allow access always, that worked in the beginning, but after updating the program, it does not store the program as allowed any more. I cannot even add it manually to the allowed list for the specific key. Means, I can select the program after clicking the plus, but the program simply not shows up in the list.
This happened on two Macs up to now, one is the same as the printer problem, but the other does not have the printer problem (up to now).
What to I have to do, that the program stores the given rights newly, also after updating a device or program?
Other people have the same problem as you can see here.

reFX guys were very helpful and took remote connection to my desktop. It was 5 minutes and Nexus2 was up and running.
The thing was that my hard drive is case sensitive. They just renamed the file white_3_nsk to lower case in
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Nexus.component/Contents/Resources/. After that, everything is working.
Hopefully this helps someone in the future who has put fortune to Nexus2 and gets heart attack when it doesn't work.
    Regards,
    Hannu

  • Connection through proxy lost after updating to 10.5.5

Here the connection to Internet is done through a computer running Windows XPSP2 due to hardware restrictions (no compatible with Mac). This computer is networked through Airport and has all sharings activated. Until two days ago the system worked fine, on Mac the setup is Manually, Automatic proxy configuration. All computer have manual TC/IP configuration and the LAN is working without a flaw even now.
The problem is that with no modification in any setup the Mac cannot connect to Internet, Network Diagnostics gives red on Internet and Server, all after updating from 10.5.4 to 10.5.5
But the server that is connected to Airport through ethernet cable has no problem.

Well, thanks to all who have read it though did not have ideas on how to solve it.
    The issue was:
On Router for the TCP/IP configuration I put the address of the computer connected to Internet, But also on the Prosies tab I entered Manually and Automatic.
So there was a conflict and the macs could not find how to go out.
I have disable the Proxy configuration and everything is working fine now.

  • Network connection lost after waking from sleep

    iMac (27" late 2013) running Yosemite 10.10.
Ethernet connection direct to the computer from the FIOS router.
Upon waking from sleep, the computer is not connected to the internet.
After about 20 seconds it finally reconnects.
Under Mavericks it never lost the connection by sleeping - was instantly connected upon wake up.
I tried creating a new location under the network system preferences and ordered it so that Ethernet was the first to connect.
    That didn't change anything.
Any suggestions how to fix this?  I don't want to have to wait every time I wake up the computer.
    Really bugging me.

    Update on my situation.
I have tried many things to get this fixed including:
SMC reset (for an iMac this means unplugging it, waiting, and plugging back in)
    PRAM reset
    deleted the "system configuration" folder
Still no luck.  Upon freshly booting the machine, it gets to the desktop and opens up mail for me, but the internet is not connected right away.  Still takes an additional 15seconds or so after Mail boots up to get a connection.  Then everything works fine.  If the computer sleeps, it doesn't have internet upon waking, but again will establish a connection (self assign an IP address) after about 15-20 seconds.
So while not crippling, these 15-20 second waits are very annoying.
Interestingly, this is ONLY with a wired Ethernet connection.  If I use WiFi everything connects right away.  But my WiFi is slower than the wired connection and I prefer to use the wired connection.
    Any further suggestions are welcome.

  • Ethernet connection issues after installing Mountain Lion

After installing Mountain Lion I can't get my iMac to connect by ethernet. It says that no cable is connected. The cable/connection is fine. When I plug in my MacBook Pro running Lion, the ethernet connects just fine.

same exact problem.  in fact, my iMac24 (2009) worked flawlessly until I installed the latest update to Mountain Lion.  I then checked my MBAir (2011) and it too has a problem when using the USB/Ethernet adapter.  Neither can get an ethernet connection.  I deleted my network preferences and rebooted my machine, played around with my Ethernet switch and even reboot my gateway/router.  I've never had to do any of this to my network until Mountain Lion.  Wireless is the only thing that continues to work on both machines.

  • Cellular data settings lost after updating iphone 4. How do I return these settings?

    Hello All,
I bought my iPhone 4 from the Apple Store in the UK, the phone was bought "SIM FREE" and hence it is unlocked.
When I used to go to the phone settings, I had the option to change the network settings for my Internet Connection, MMS settings and others.
After updating my iPhone 4 using iTunes, I lost these settings and now I cant configure my cellular data connection.
Does anyone know how to reactivate the settings for the Cellular Data Settings?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raed

You will need to contact the carrier. All supported carrier settings are in the iPhone's database and are applied automatically when a SIM card is installed from a recognized carrier.

  • My photos lost after update from 3.1.3 to 4.0.0

    Sorry for my English.
After updating from 3.1.3 to 4.0.0 I lost pictures.
They occupy the volume is displayed in iTunes, but they are not.
New photos continue numbering from the old and the volume in iTunes is increasing.
How to return all the pictures in the phone, only see those that did after the upgrade?

    Thanks. I found this:
I first learned this technique when upgrading my iPhone 3G to iOS4:
    1) Connect your iPhone to your computer
    2) Run iPhone Explorer on your computer (install it if you don't already have it)
    3) Backup (copy to a folder on your computer) and then delete the following files:
    /DCIM/.MISC/Info.plist
    /PhotoData/Photos.sqlite
    /PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite
    4) Unplug your iPhone, launch Camera Roll app and wait as it rebuilds the database.
The thumbnails that were showing as black on my iPhone look perfect now.
    And very happy!

  • "Connection lost" while updating phone software in...

    Good day.
I got a notification on the Suite that there is a phone update (v11.40) for my Nokia C2-01. I wanted to upgrade my phone's software so I decided to go on with it.
The backup phase is good, but later it said "Connection lost" during the installation.
I canceled the installation, and when I turned on my C2-01, it shows "Test mode" on the screen. So I switched it off. Luckily after a few minutes I tried to switch it on again and the phone goes back to normal.
What should I do to avoid this situation from happening again? I'm using version 3.6 of the software and I hope this won't happen in version 3.7. Thank you.

Can you tell me the OS of the PC that you are using? You can try this troubleshooting and see if it will work:
In Windows 7 and Windows Vista the reason for failure may be caused by windows trying to download and install additional conflicting device drivers during the update process.
To disable windows device installation for the duration of the Nokia Suite process do to following:
Access "Control Panel" and select "System and Security", and from there select "System"
Next select "Advanced System Settings" and then the "Hardware" tab, and select "Device Installation Settings"
From "Device Installation Settings", choose "No, let me choose what to do" and next select "Never install driver software from windows update"
    Click "Save Changes"
After this process please try to run the Nokia Suite process again. You may need to manually connect to your device again using Nokia Suite's "Add New Device".
Remember to enable the windows device driver settings after successfull installation.

  • Ethernet connection lost during migration

The ethernet connection gets lost while attempting an initial migration from an iMac 10.6.2 to a MacBook 10.6.1.
Supposedly, there are some advantages to doing a migration during the first set-up process.
Following the prompts on the new MacBook to connect an ethernet cable to the older Mac, then open Migration Assistant.
Shortly after entering the Administrator password and the code number from the new MacBook the connection is lost.
Maybe there never was a connection, how would I know?
Tried two different cables, could they both be defective?
Anyone have experienced this problem and know the solution?

    R C-R
Thought that you would be interested to know that your thoughtful and appreciated suggestions made no difference in eliminating the connection failure messages.
The MacBook is new. No one has ventured past the Welcome process. One of the first options after selecting language, country, & keyboard is the option of migrating information from another source. I chose to migrate From Another Mac.
The window instructions state to connect the two computers with an Ethernet cable, which I did.
Open the Migration Assistant in the iMac. Followed the instructions in the windows.
The iMac recognized the MacBook and a passcode appeared in the MacBook window.
The passcode was entered in the iMac, and the gathering of information begins in each computer.
Then the drop down window with "The Network Connection Failed" appears first in the MacBook then the iMac.
    End of migration process.
Anyone have this problem or a solution?
The manual accompanying the MacBook says:
    "*Gigabit Ethernet port
Connect to a high-speed Ethernet network, a DSL or Cable modem, or another computer. The Ethernet port automatically detects Ethernet devices and doesn't require an Ethernet crossover cable."
I definitely had these two computers directly connected with a working CAT6 Ethernet cable.
    What am I doing wrong?

  • Macbook connectivity lost after waking up from sleep mode or rebooting

Being an Ex-Microsoft user , I am sad to say that Microsoft products still beats Apple's MAC in stability for certain functions.
For instance, this Macbook laptop does not seem to be able to reconnect to the home's gateway/ router (or any other gateway, for the matter) after it wakes up from sleep mode or rebooting.
I've read several similar posts on this topic in the internet and am convince to say that it is not the gateway/ router that the Mac is connected to giving the problem as there are other computers(Microsoft-based) connected to the same gateway working perfectly fine.
Furthermore the Fujitsu laptop I was using previously had connected to the gateway flawlessly... until the darn-thing broke down (grumble....grumble...)
So far, it seemingly so, that no other person has managed to figure and resolve this one out yet. Also, no Apple support staff has responded nor helped resolved other related-connectivity problems.
Is there a real hope for us??

The previous solution only worked for a few days.
I have another fix from Apple that is working (for now):
Go to the network preference pane and create a new location by using the location pull-down menu. Call it whatever you want.
Select the new location. Choose the little tool icon dropdown under the left column of services and choose "set service order" Drag things around so that airport comes first and then ethernet. Save, apply, do what you need to do to save all of these settings. Restart the computer.
There might have been some other steps, but these are the main and most important parts.
The default configuration for service order is wrong and the computer gets hung looking around for a bluetooth or firewire network connection. After every major system update, check that the service order is set right--it could get overwritten.

  • Logic Remote connectivity issues after updating to iOS 8 (solved!)

Has anyone else has been experiencing connectivity issues with Logic Remote after updating to iOS 8?
After updating to iOS 8 I could no longer connect so I sent a feedback report to Apple and got a response that cleared up my problem immediately:
Navigate to the following directory on your desktop system running GarageBand:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
You can quickly navigate there using the “Go” menu in Finder -> Go To Folder (shift-command-G), then copy this path:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
In the Preferences folder should be a file named "com.apple.garageband10.cs”.
Make sure GarageBand is not running and delete the  "com.apple.garageband10.cs” file.
Relaunch GarageBand and see if you should now be able to connect.
The same can be done for Logic by navigating to:
    ~/Library/Preferences/
And deleting "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" and restarting Logic.
Note that doing this will fix Logic Remote connectivity issues (and possibly other problems with latency and mixer functionality)  but will also delete any other Controller settings that you've configured with Logic, if you happen to be using another controller of some sort.

Thanks very much!  This solved my connection problem.
