  • Portege R100 - Missing some Ethernet Controller Win XP drivers

The hard drive failed on my Portege R100 so I replaced it and installed Windows XP.
The only problem is that I am missing some drivers, so I am unable to get into the Internet - significantly the Device Manager indicates problems with the Ethernet Controller.
Is there a location to get these missing drivers? I don't even know what to look for to solve the Ethernet Controller portion.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks -

  • Satellite A100 PSAA5A Windows doesn't recognise ethernet controller

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with an A100 PSAA5A-01H00T running Win XP sp2.
Windows doesn't recognise an ethernet controller, hence the wireless NIC is not working, although the wired connection is.
I've tried installing the latest WLAN drivers from the support site (both of them), to no avail. Windows is insisting the appropriate drivers are not installed.
I suspect a hardware problem, and have the user on an external wireless NIC, but I'd appreciate any insight you guys can provide.
    Thanks.

    Hi mate
What Ethernet controller is not recognized? WLan or LAN?
Do you have some unknown devices in the device manager?
If yes, then a essential driver is missing and therefore the controller is not recognize properly.
You dont know what Wlan or LAN chip you have and what driver is necessary?
    Check this:
How to identify an unknown device (e.g. Wireless LAN module)?

  • Driver for the ethernet controller on a HP Pavillion P600000 Series desktop after upgrading to Windows 7 Enterprise?

After upgrading from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Enterprise (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601), I cannot find working drivers for my ethernet controller. The desktop is a HP Pavillion, Model
No. p6710f. I located the drivers on HP's website, but Windows 7 Enterprise
is not listed as compatible. Compatibility list:
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic (64-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
The original driver (according to HP's site) is a Realtek PCIe Family networking controller, Version:7.26.902.2010 Rev. A.
    I tried contacting HP, but apparently I voided their warranty once I upgraded to Windows 7 Enterprise. I do not have a support plan with Microsoft because the operating system was purchase through TechSoup (nonprofit). I greatly appreciate your help;
let me know if you need more information.

  • Ethernet controller driver not installing after Windows Server 2008 installation on Cisco UCS blade

I am using MDT 2010 to deploy Windows Server 2008 to a Cisco UCS B200 blade. The OS and hotfixes install with no problem. The system reboots and attempts to connect to the deployment share to continue with the task sequence and I receive an error stating
"A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed. PCI\VEN_1137&DEV_0043&SUBSYS_00481137&REV_A2"
The driver in question is the driver for the Ethernet controller for the UCS blade. More specifically, it is the network driver for the Palo card in the UCS Chassis. When I Ignore or Abort the install, I am able to manually install the driver and restart the
task sequence. The build then completes successfully with no further issue. I just cannot seem to automate the driver install. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue?

Vik and stealthfield - thank you for your responses.
I was preparing a script to manually move the driver into the c:\windows\inf location when I had to stop to create a new task sequence for a different build. It was while building this task sequence that I found the soulution to the problem.
In the Post Install -> Inject Drivers step of the Task Sequence, I noticed that it was executing a command of type "Inject Drivers" with a selection profile of "All Drivers" and "Install only matching drivers
    from the selection profile" selected.
I changed this to run a command of type "Run Command Line" and specified that it execute "%Scriptroot%\ZTIdrivers.wsf". I noticed that this was selected in one of my other builds that was working properly, so I thought I'd
give it a try. - IT WORKED.
So to sum up, the solution was to change the type of command being executed in the "Post Install -> Inject Drivers" step of the task sequence. After this change, the machine came up and continued the task sequence with no further issues.
Thanks again for the responses - They were helpful and I do appreciate it.

  • Ethernet Controller & Safely Remove Hardware With Windows 7 On X200

    Hi,
I'm having a weird issue with Windows 7 on my X200. For some reason, my ethernet controller is being displayed in my system tray under "Safely Remove Hardware". Is anyone else having this problem? If you are not having this problem, would you mind checking what driver you are using so that I can try it as well?
I have the "Intel 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III" and I'm using the driver that was installed automatically from Windows 7 I presume. Its seems like the only option though...
Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • G580 with Windows 8.1 Pro - Installer can't find Qualcomm atheros AR81 family ethernet controller

    Dear Support / Friends.
I am using G580 for the past 1.8 years. Over the last two days i am unable to connect to the internet using the Ethernet cable. The Lan Adapter is a constant Green/Orange Light. Tried reinstalling the AtherosLan(v2.1.0.21) driver, it says Installer can't find Qualcomm Atheros AR81 family Ethernet controller.
I have already rebooted the system by loading OS default in BIOS setup, removed the RAM modules for a while after switching off the laptop, but to no avail the problem still persists.
Surprisingly, I can connect to the internet only through the WiFi adapter.
Can any one help me resolve this issue, as I have been racking my head for solutions on the internet, including opening up the laptop and removing all the hardware components and re-assembling the G580.
Please help me fix this, as I have a feeling it is a software workaround more than a hardware failure.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Cheers,
    air_289

What interests me is the "LANDevice" listed. That is not present on my G580, even when showing hidden devices. I can not see mention of it anywhere on the net, would that be a possible indicator showing that Windows has remapped the LAN Device to some incorrect driver?
If I could see the Hardware ID from that device it would help me locate what it might be attached to. Right click on device, choose properties, then the details tab, then use the drop down to select Hardware ID, copy and past into your response.
    Good luck.
PS - while you are cleaning, look at the pins inside the socket - none should be touching or crossed over, would "short out" the port.

  • Bootcamp windows 7 x64 Ethernet controller error...

I've installed the Windows 7 x64 drivers, yes I'm aware of how to get around the x64 error. However after installing My internet doesn't work.
Theres a few drivers with error code 28, saying they aren't installed next to them; ethernet controller, network controller. I've ran the repair utility, and it still doesn't install the files.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, I think this problem has been resolved, so I'll post the solution in case others with the Samsung Syncmaster 204B have the same problem. The answer was erasing the PRAM by holding Option-Command-P-R at boot up (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379).
This is what I think happened:
An update in Windows Update is available for the Syncmaster 204B, but wasn't visible when I first connected the Syncmaster. I wasn't able to see the update until I rebooted with the Syncmaster connected (after several crashes). After seeing the update in Windows Update under 'Optional Updates", called "Samsung - Display- 204T/204Ts/204B, Syncmaster Magic CX20Ts(digital)", I installed it, but bootcamp Windows continued to crash randomly after attaching the Syncmaster via both Mini Display Port-to-DVI and Mini Display Port-to-VGA. Sometimes it crashed after a few minutes, sometimes an hour, the same as before I installed the update.
I was convinced that it was a compatibility problem between Windows 7 x64, the Syncmaster 204B and the MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2010 hardware since this problem only happened when booting into bootcamp Windows 7 x64 (everything worked fine in Mac OS), but now that doesn't seem to be the case. I think the update fixed the problem, but after installing the update some of the of the original incompatible display settings remained resident in the Mac's PRAM. Erasing the PRAM cleared these settings and allowed the new updated settings to be loaded instead, fixing the crash issue.

  • LAN connection not working/Ethernet controller driver missing

I got a new hard drive and installed a clean copy of windows 7 on it. After dealing with a few problems I finally had it up and running. I transferred via usb and installed drivers from http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-500-Desktop-PC-series/7779690/model/8154137#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1. Every thing is working except for my LAN connection.  I can connect to wifi however. In device manager I have a ! next to ethernet controller.  Had ! on a bunch more before installing other drivers.  In network adapter settings there is no listed Local Area Connection.  What do I need to get my Lan connection working again?

Hi: The support page for your model indicates you need this ethernet driver... This package provides the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Driver for supported models running a supported operating system. File name: sp71102.exe You have to manually install this driver. Run the file and then go to the device manager. Click on the ethernet controller needing drivers. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder should be located in C:\SWSetup\sp71102. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

  • Do I install the Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller in Windows Update?

    Hi all,
I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz with Vista Home Premium via Bootcamp. I installed all the Bootcamp supplied drivers and all the major components seem to be working fine. When I run Windows Update, however, it keeps on recommending that I install the following:
Marvell Yukon 88E8058 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Its listed as "Optional" but keeps coming up. Has anybody installed this successfully without issue? Given that the Ethernet connection is working fine, is it worth it to try and install it?
    Thanks,
    JLC

    Kenny:
I am not very clear on what you are asking however I am assuming that you are on a wireless LAN and that you can see the Router however cannot connect to the internet wirelessly.
You are right about the "Network Cable Unplugged" icon. That is just to let you know that a wired connection does not exist currently for your laptop.
Did you install the Boot Camp Drivers in Windows yet?

  • Slow Internet Connection Speeds caused by Ethernet Controller Driver

Problem:  Internet connection speeds are 1/10 of available connection speed.
    1. Problem statement is based on running speed tests at cnet, speedtest.net, and AT&T.
    2. I am paying for 12 MBps down load speed but I only get about 1.5 MBps.
    3. Other computers in household get 11+ MBps connected to the same ethernet cable and also different ethernet cables.
    4. I traced the problem to the network controller driver.
    5. I updated to the latest driver with no change in performance.
    6. After some experimenting I found that if I re-install the driver after the computer is booted up, the internet connection down load speeds increase to 11+ MBpS (typically around 11.4 with maximum capability of 12)
I have assumed that the driver does not load properly the first time, but why?  Or is there some other cause or setting that I have overlooked?
