Ethernet? Does TC need to be connected to the internet?

Not sure what the story is there. I just need TC as an external hard drive. Don't care about connecting it to the web. Do I have to connect it to my modem anyway via ethernet cable? Is that the only way my mac will see it wirelessly?
Firewire is looking good right now, I've wasted 4 hours trying to set up TC and it's still not working. It did start backing up, then stopped half-way and never resumed. I think I will need to erase the TC disk and start again (if I find a way to do this). Looks like another piece of c@ap that just doesn't work.

I have TC setup wirelessly on my network. I am using an Airport Extreme Base Station as my router and the TC for backup. The setup was straight forward as I did not use the manual method (tried it first and had problems). Once configured, everything worked well with the backups except that the TC keeps loosing its network connection. Only way to fix is to unplug/plug power cord.
Hope Aple fixes this soon!!

  • Does TC need to be connected to the internet to backup to?

I have a network of 3 airport extremes but I would like the TC to not be assessable by the network. Just wifi backups...

TimeCapsule does not require an internet connection to backup computers which are joined to it's wireless network.

  • Airport Extreme: Does it need to be connected to the internet to function?

I'm dealing with some wireless connectivity issues and I'll post a new thread once about that once I confirm that the issue isn't originating with my ISP. But for now I want to know:
*Should the AEBS still function to provide wireless connectivity between devices on my network if the cable-modem is unplugged?* For now when I unplug the cable modem, my wireless network disappears.
    Thanks for the help!

I am having the same problem as well. It used to work as you would expect but clearly something has changed in one of the recent patches.

  • My nook app continues to state "Please be sure you have internet connectivity, then try again."  I am currently connected to wifi and it seems that all my other apps that need to be connect to the internet are properly working.  Help!

My nook app keeps telling me "Please be sure you have internet connectivity, then try again."  I am currently connected to wifi and it seems that all my other apps that need to be connect to the internet are properly working.  I have turn off my phone, signed off my wifi, installed a new app, but nothing is working.  My friend is having similar issues.  My phone is up to date.  I even tried taking off the wifi in hopes that it could just connect to the 3g but nothing.  Not sure if anyone else is experiencieng this issue or knows what I can do.  I think that it may be an app problem that needs fixed, but not sure. Help!

Maybe its a Viber problem. As that is not an Apple product, why don't you try and contact the developer?

  • HT1657 Do I need to be connected to the internet to watch a rented movie once it is downloaded?

If I rent a movie from iTunes and I download it to my phone. Do I need to be connected to the internet to watch the movie?

Some posts have suggested that you need to be online when starting to watch the film - so if you want to watch it somewhere where you won't have internet then you could watch a few seconds of the film when you do (you have 24 hours if you are in the US, 48 hours elsewhere, from when you start watching a rental until it expires)

  • "Your computer does not seem to be connected to the internet." when trying to sign into Lightroom Mobile

I want to connect Lightroom 5.5 with Lightroom mobile. I click on the identity plate in Lightroom and select "sign in". A window opens saying "connecting...". Eventually the message changes to "Your computer does not seem to be connected to the internet." My machine is a Windows 8.1 PC and I already tried to solve the issue by allowing LR through the firewall.

    I just found a solution:
    - Close Lightroom
    - Rename your .lrprefs file to e.g. .lrprefs.old
    - Launch LR
    - Close LR
    - Delete the newly created .lrprefs file
    - Rename your previous .lrprefs file from .lrprefs.old to .lrprefs
    - Launch LR again and sign in

First we need to check , whether the LAN settings is set to detect settings Automatically or not.
    Follow below steps .
1)Open Control Panel and then click on the option "Network and Internet" .
2)Click on Internet options, click on 'Connections' tab.
3)In the 'Connections' tab, select 'LAN' settings, you will be able to view the Local area network settings box.
4)Check the box-"Automatically Detect Settings" and then "uncheck" all the other check boxes like 'Use automatic configuration script', 'Use a proxy server' , Bypass proxy server' ,then click on ok button .
5)Click on "LAN settings" button again , make sure "Automatically Detect Settings" is the only option selected, keep the LAN properties window open.
Then launch Premiere Elements 12 and try to sign in.
If the settings were already set like that or you face same issue after signing in , let me know

  • If I buy a 12 month subscription how often do I need to be connected to the internet?

    I've read conflicting reports.
    99 days?
    180 days?
Do I need to check in every 30 days?
If I'm off the grid when I'm prompted to renew my licence will I loose my apps?
I've been searching the net for hours looking for a clear answer.
    Adobe's own FAQ says:
An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days.
Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode.
which strikes me as somewhat ambiguous. If I'm off line for 99 days and Adobe continually tries to contact me to validate my apps and can't will my apps still work?
Thanks so much for any clarity re this.

    kimcats wrote:
so what happens if you don't connect every 30 days with a monthly subscription?
Same as described above by kglad on day 100 with the annual membership.
    kimcats wrote:
is that why my programs have DRASTICALLY become so slow to open or do anything!?
Unlikely to be related. That sounds like a separate issue. Licensing checks don't affect software performance. If you're financially up to date the software works. If not then it does not.
    kimcats wrote:
and what exactly do i need to do every 30 days online? connect how?
Nothing special. Just connect to the internet.
The licensing mechanism built into the software will do what it needs to do automatically and silently In a few seconds while you work.

  • I am unable to connect to the internet, there is a pop-up that says "We're sorry, but the Safari browse version you are currently using dos no support the community toolbar". My computer does say that it is connected to the internet until I open Safari.

I am unable to connect to the interent. At the top of the screen my computer says that I am connected. When I open up Safari there is a pop up that say "Community Toolbar          We're sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar" and when the Safari page opens up it says "You are not connected to the Internet. Safari can't open the page .... because your computer isn't connected to the Internet." I have tried Network Diagnostics and tried to reset Sfari, empty Cache as well as deleted all of my interent history. I am unable to use Time Machine because I never set it up. If someone knows how to help I would very much appreciate it!!

  • How does Flash Player projector/standalone connect to the Internet

I know that when a web service call is made from a flash player in the browser that the underlying browser is used to handle the traffic.  I also know that this isn't the case with flash projector because the security docs say that the projector files can't take advantage of SSL because they aren't run in the context of the browser.  So what mechanism does a standalone or projector application use to connect to the Internet?  I'm trying to analyze a possible application for someone from a security point of view, but I'm not sure what mechanism is in place.
Thanks to anyone who knows or even knows of some decent references.  I can't find much on projectors....

As far as I know, the standalone player does not connect to the Internet - it just plays local Flash content.
Or can you actually give it an Internet (http) location to play?  (I do not currently have Projector installed, so I cannot try it.)
