Ethernet Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection prblem

Hello!
My laptop (HP Probook 6570B, with Windows 8.1 64 bit) doesn't recognise the ethernet driver.  The driver is showing a code 10 error ('this device cannot start').
I tried to uninstall the driver and tryed the hp latest network driver as well as the latest original driver from Intels website.
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_17AB103C&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_17AB103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&CC_0200

Hi:
Try manually installing the driver as follows.
First, download and install this free file utility.
http://www.7-zip.org/
Then download and save the W8.1 Ethernet driver file from Intel.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23071/Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-8-1-
Now right click on the Intel driver file and select 7-Zip from the menu.
Have 7-zip Extract to, and I let it extract the file to the name of the folder (PROWinx64).
Then go to the device manager and click on the problem ethernet controller.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click on Have Disk and browse to:  PROWinx64\PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS63\e1c63x64, and select the Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection from the list and see if the driver installs that way.

    Hi
I am using the pro2kxp (INTEL(R) PRO1000 CT Network Connection Diagnostics Utility which not only installs the driver but also a network connection diagnostics utility.
The driver date as shown in Device Manager is 29/08/2003 and the driver version is 7.2.19.0.  Does anyone know if there is a later version of this utility (including driver)?
File version as shown by right-clicking the .exe is:  4.0.100.1124.

  • ITunes 10.0.1 "the network connection could not be made"

This was not a problem for me on 10.0. I can no longer update my podcasts because I get this error message
"There was a problem downloading (podcast name) the network connection could not be made"
so first I ran diagnostics for the network connection and it said that it could not make a secure connection to the itunes store. I clicked help and it said to add a rule to the windows firewall (even though one already existed), I did that and now its green but I still get the same error message. Did you get anywhere with this? I'm getting the same error when I try to use Home Sharing. It worked through all the 9.x versions, but with 10.0.1, I can't even home share between two identical MacBooks. I get the above error when I try to copy a song / video / etc. from one library to another.

  • Preparing network connections = reboot...

    Hello.
Im really new to System Center and have gotten the respenoibility in our IT department to configure it and to keep it updatet with the latest drivers for our clients.
Recently we bought a Lenovo ThinkPad T440 laptop. When i tried to reinstall windows 7 using SCCM 2012 i got to the point where it said "preparing network connections" then it disapeared and all i could see was a blank SCCM background. After a few
    seconds the computer rebooted.
So what i have tried to do is:'
I downloaded the SCCM driver pack from Lenovo for the T440. Imported it into SCCM, added it to a driver package (wich i made new) and added it to a x64 boot image, since this was the x64 drivers. Simply following the import driver wizard. What i did next
was to distribute the driver package to the DP and then i updated the DP with the boot image.
All the right network drivers are there and i still get the same fault... A rebooting client after "preparing network connections".
Appreciating all answers and tips :)
Edit: The driver package i found on Lenovo is a driver package for SCCM and is called SCCM Package for windows 7 (x64).

Hello and thanks for so many good answers! You guys are really helpful :)
Now i have cleaned up the boot images and started all over again from scratch. This time i tried to only import the network drivers for the T440, i saw some people before had done that in a different driver package. But when i am trying to update DP, adding
the network drivers to the boot image i get this error message:
      Error: Boot image to update:

Does anyone know what i have done wrong this time?
I have also now tried the IPCONFIG command and all that appears is Windows IP Configuration... nothing else.. and i can type /all because of my Norwegian keyboard.. and i have no idea where i can find the /.. :P
Edit: The drivers i have imported are for windows 7 and the boot image OS version is 6.2.9200. Is this wrong? The Error does not longer occur and i have succesfully updated the DP. But still, it reboots after "Preparing network connections".

For PC users, before reinstalling, try this:
Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->Run as Administrator
    then type in:
    netsh winsock reset
hit enter, restart PC, open iTunes. Hopefully fixed.

Every time a query is sent to the MP, it receives 0x80072ee2 which translates to "The operation timed out". This has nothing to do with your MP or DP though so reinstalling them won't make any difference.
This error is indicative of network issues -- basically, the "client" is not getting a response back in a timely manner (and probably not at all). Assuming the MP is healthy though, then only other piece of the puzzle is the network.
You can try setting the SMSTSAssignmentsDownloadRetry and SMSTSAssignmentsDownloadInterval task sequence variables in the boot image to increase the client's tolerance for latency or other weirdness in the network. This has worked for many.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to break out a sniffer and watch the traffic to see what's going on at a network level.

  • R61: Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Device Cannot Start (Code 10)

    Hi
I purchased a Western Digital 7200 rpm 320 GB hard drive (the WD3200BJKT) a few days ago to be installed in my ThinkPad R61 (model 773215A). After making a fresh install of Windows XP SP3 and all the drivers, everything seemed to work fine except for my ethernet device, which is an Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection. I obtained the following error code: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". The ethernet device only functioned once, which was right after I installed its driver after the fresh install of Windows XP. However as soon as I rebooted, I received the above mentioned error code. By the way, the device was working fine before I changed my hard drive.
I have tried everything described in troubleshooting guides available online, including disabling and enabling the ethernet device, uninstalling and reinstalling the ethernet device and updating the drivers, but to no avail. The only way I could make it function again is by switching off my notebook, unplugging and replugging the power adapter and finally switching the notebook on again. If I were to do a restart, or switch my notebook off and on without unplugging the power adapter, the ethernet device would not function.
I have a feeling that it might be the bios. I am currently using the latest bios (version 2.26), and I noticed that this bios was 'supposed' to fix "The "New Hardware Found" message for Intel Gigabit Ethernet may appear." Looks like some problems with the Intel Gigabit Ethernet still exist. However I have tried flashing several older versions of the bios, but the problem still persists. Appreciate any help/suggestions I could get. Thanks.

    Hello
I bought my R61 beginning of 2008, and since then I had this problem - only with the LAN device, NOT with WLAN - 3 times. It did never have something to do with reinstalling Windows or installing a new device like a HD, it just happend, usually after configuering new network properties (with the tool Access Connections).
The first time when I experienced this, I tried to reinstall the NIC driver, but that didn't help.
Every time, after 2 or 3 days, the problem simply disapeard.
I have on the same laptop, on a second HD partition, a Debian Linux installed. This time, my NIC started its "time-out" after configuering new network properties on Linux, and it does not work anymore on neither Linux nor Windows (2 days so far).
It's really annoying, and because it seems the OS has no influence, I think it is Lenovo's job to fix this problem.
I belive it's - like mhafiz says - a BIOS problem, or some hardware issue, so please: Lenovo, it's your turn!
I always bought Thinkpad Laptops until now, and I think they are in quality high above any other brand, and I really hope this will continue.
    Chris
PS: I hope your (and also mine, like it did before) NICs will just resume operating after a while...

  • T520 problem with Wireless Network Connection Adaptors

I was in Windows 7 Device Manager's Network Connections trying to fix a minor WIFI problem by uninstalling the drivers and then scanning for hardware changes to reinstall them. I uninstalled a driver that the scan didn't pick up to reinstall, and I didn't write down its name. Now the WIFI does not work at all. I've updated the two drivers left in Network Adapters:
Intel 82579LM Gigabit  Network Connection for my ethernet
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN for my WIFI
Does anyone know the name of the wireless driver I uninstalled? Does the 520 require two wireless network adaptor drivers? Can't seem to find info on it anywhere!
    What I've done:
I ran Intel's PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility diagnostic tools. The hardware test fails saying "Wireles Hardware is not boudn to transport driver". The Driver Test passed saying "Driver is loaded. Netwsw00 Version: 15.4.1.1. The Radio Test failed saying "Failure geting network radio status!". After that the Scant Test, Asociation Test, Authentificaiton Test, Siganl Test and Ping Test all failed.
Installed every 64 bit LAN wireless network adaptor driver I could find in the T520 section of Lenovo's site
Any assistance appreciated. I'm a bit of a noob.

  • No network connections?

This is a weird one. One of our white Intel iMacs has no network connections. It has been fine since new and now it won't connect to a network. If I use a good, known to be working Ethernet cable, it says it is not plugged in when it clearly is, and if I use the airport, it can't find any wireless network. I have tried it in two different locations on two different networks, setting appropriate settings for the networks in each location. I have tried under a user and under the administrator setting. I have used Onyx and repaired Disk Permissions, and repaired the disk using Target Mode off my laptop (don't have the original install disk at home). I haven't yet reinstalled Tiger as I didn't have the install disk handy and it won't let me put a new system on from the generic Tiger DVDs I do have. Any thoughts (and hopefully solutions) gratefully received
    Cheers

Yup, I mean the black Retail disks, although it is funny that I have used these to install Tiger on a large number of types of machines (they are supplied to schools free to schools in NZ under an agreement between our Ministry and Apple and the machines I have installed Tiger on are school machines - nothing illegal!!!)
Yup - the ports are there under System Profiler and I can't see anything not right in what it says
Yup - ports are turned on????
Still shows no cable connected under Safe Boot???
Strange that BOTH sources of network connection are showing no connectivity. I've obviously struck occasions when one is not working but BOTH. Surely not hardware related - must be software???
I really do appreciate your time trying to find a solution to this perplexing problem and they were great suggestions
    Cheers

I have found that previously existing Norton suites (even after they have been successfully uninstalled) can come back from the dead and block certain network resources. I recently came across a Vista system that had just this happen after an iTunes 8 update. Running the Norton Removal Tool restored access to the iTunes music store.

  • Determine if NIC can run on Gigabit network

I have a bunch of Solaris servers that will be moved to a gigabit network connection. How do I view the network settings on the network cards and determine if they can run on gigabit network? What commands I can use? This will help me if my group has to purchase new network cards. Thanks for you help.

You can also trawl the Sunsolve support web site for Infodocs,
and spend time at Docs.Sun.Com and the Sun System Handbook, as well.
Generally, you just need to "know" your hardware.
Your newer systems will likely have a gigabit interface inside,
while the older systems will only have 10/100 chipsets for connectivity.
Your bge interfaces tell me those are newer systems,
with a Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet chipset.
hme is a 10/100 chipset that was widely use in a previous generation
    of Sun's SPARC-based systems. ( Highspeed Media Ethernet )

  • Toggling between locations & network connections

I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a year now. At home I connect using Airport through my 2-Wire AT&T/Yahoo ISP. At school I connect to the LAN using an ethernet connection. When I switch between them I have been going to the system preferrences, changing locations, and then changing connection types(airport vs. built-in Ethernet vvs. Bluetooth vs. modem). Isn't there a way that I can save at least the connection type, so as I change locations I don't have to change connection type?

Just leave it on Automatic. Mac OS X uses whatever active/available port there is that can provide internet and networking, based on the listing(top to bottom) in Network Port configurations.
The higher a port is in that list, it is checked first for networking/internet access. So, if Ethernet is above Airport and you have both ports connected to the same or different networks, the ethernet port is the one that will be used when trying to access a server. It makes sense to have Ethernet above Airport because that networking connection will be faster.

  • Window 10 build 10041 does not work with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet on ASUS motherboard

I originally posted this question here:
    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/window-10-build-10041-does-not-work-with-intel/6729892f-83aa-4822-b20a-ea84f4fd06c7
and was asked to post it on this forum...
I updated a computer I have which is a quad core i7 that I built and includes an ASUS motherboard with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet built in. Windows 10 preview 9926 worked fine with this network adapter. Window 10 build 10041 does not, and I have tried
it twice so far. I even went as far as buying a Thunderbolt-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (Broadcom, sold by Apple)... and while it installed the driver automatically, it did not work either. Each time you try to view the properties of either of them, it locks
up or give an error. In fact, doing much of anything with the Intel adapter icon assures you of not being able to do a clean reboot... have to kill power.  I have finally gone back the previous version 9926, which has its issues but no where near as bad
as not having any network connectivity!  Does anyone have this issue and a workaround?
Note, there are two images on the windows 10 preview forum that I posted this question on. I could not post the full link as I was getting a message here that links and graphics are not allowed.

Thanks Roger, I posted the following yesterday in the other thread (thinking it was this thread - confusing after they moved it here)... It may be that the new driver fixes the issue that 10041 has with it, but I have not tried that yet. If I do I will update
    this... Thanks!
I have more information about this, which basically exonerates any issue with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware or software. I have 3 computers with Windows 10 preview so I have multiple angles to see issues from. With this I have found a culprit
(but I suspect not just the only culprit) in this above mentioned problem...
10041 build combined with installing (or attempting to install) CISCO VPN Windows 7 64bit 5.0.07.0440-k9 client causes the issue mentioned above. I confirmed this on a completely different machine with a totally different Ethernet adapter. First machine
is an ASUS motherboard in a tower system I built, with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware built in. Second machine is a Gateway Laptop from 2008 which has a Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter built in. Build 10041 will work fine with my 2008
laptop, including the MS VPN client (which I have tested). However, if you attempt to install or even uninstall the Cisco client you will have to do a recovery to a restore point (as I have done twice) in order to get your network working again. Installing
or attempting to install (because it never even does install properly and times out), CISCO VPN client will render your entire network unusable. Going back to a restore point saved me and I am still running 10041 but I can't use CISCO VPN client any longer.
I could with build 9926, including on all 3 machines. I now have 9926 on two machines and 10041 on only the 2008 laptop.
Hopefully this above information helps someone resolve the issue. I will also mention, even though my network is working on the 2008 laptop, I still can't go into the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right mouse click on the Marvell
Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter icon. I get an error when clicking on Properties menu popup : "An unexpected error has occurred". So something is still up with my network adapter driver or windows software, but it could be a side effect of all
that has happened with the Cisco software install attempts under 10041.
Another note: CISCO Anyconnect also has the issue.

  • Slow Ethernet speed on gigabit network

    Hey all,
I recently dusted off my old Power Mac G4 MDD 867 to work on some old Final Cut Pro projects. I upgraded to Leopard 10.5.8 and everything has been working fine except I can't seem to achieve faster than 1 MB/s on my transfer from my Mac to my Windows7 PC of my RAID server.
I have confirmed that the Ethernet cable is working (cat5e - I even made a new one and tested it). System Preferences shows that Built-in Ethernet is has the following:
    Configuration: Auto
    Speed 1000baseT
    Duplex: full-duplex, flow-control
    MTU 1500
I transfer around large file sizes all day and this one has me stumped. I also checked the System Profiler and it shows it as gigabit. This Apple is connected directly to the Gigabit switch.
I did research and I have noticed that many people have had problems with their gigabit network speed.
FYI I tested mounting my win7 share on my mac and also mounting my Mac share on my PC - no difference in speed.
Umm - yeah it seems this ethernet card is not sensing the gigabit speed and is resorting back to 980k - 1 MB/s when it should be around 30 Mbps!!!

Possible yes, but have you tried making a new account to test in yet?
Might try Applejack before a reinstall...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Oh, is it possible to eliminate the Switch/Router & connect directly for a test?
