Ethernet Port only working half the time

I recently moved into a dorm/hotel for the summer, and my internet worked for the first four days I was there. Then one day, it just didn't. It doesn't recognize that the cable is plugged into the wall. The AirPort is fine, and I've been using the wireless connections in the lobby. I had the IT department at the school check the ports in the room, and they believe they're fine. The ethernet cable seems to work in the lobby port, it works half the time in my friends room, but not at all in my room. Any ideas on what's going on or how to fix it?

You can use http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180. if that does not work you have to do repair.

It looks like you have come up with the answer to your particular situation. Great.
But, so that your experience can be of benefit to those finding your thread
    a. What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
    b. How were you not applying the video stabilizer to the whole video clip in the first place? Or, are you suggesting
that others apply the video stabilizer to all the clips on the Timeline instead of one video clip that may really need that effect?
    Thanks.

  • Audio only works half the time

Product name: HP 2000 Notebook PC
    Product number: C2N26UA#ABA
    Windows 8 64-bit
Sometimes my audio works, sometimes it doesn't. It was just working fine on a youtube video, then when I went to a different video I suddenly had no audio. Itunes doesn't have audio either, the song just stays at 0:00.
Restarting did nothing. Disabling and Re-enabling the speakers did nothing.
    Please help,

    Hello Intelligently,
Have you tried to reinstall the audio driver?  Give that a shot and please let me know if it helps to resolve your issue.

  • Left and Right-Click Only Working Half The Time

Ok, I have a Pavilion G6, A6Y36UA#ABA  The last few days, my mouse (trackpad and buttons on the laptop NOT an external one) works fine but I can't left-click on the desktop, start menu (or apparently Paint?). Everytime I try to left-click, the right-click menu pops up (except in Paint. It doesn't do anything in Paint except not work). I tried right clicking thinking it was backwards but that doens't work.
I can left click as normal on the task bar, in Microsoft Word and in my Internet browser but I can't RIGHT click. (I can use the keyboard buton to bring up the right-click menu but it's still a pain) and for some reason, once I open more than one tab in Chrome, I can't go back to the earlier tabs unless I first close the tabs opened after it (also annoying).
I've restarted the computer. Uninstalled the touch pad driver, restarted, reinstalled the device driver, restarted and I'm STILL having problems with it. Please help!

I understand that your right-click and left-click buttons aren't quite working the way they should.

  • Auto Import CD then Eject unreliable (works half the time)

I'm trying to re-rip my large collection of CDs, so I set my iTunes General Preferences to:
When you insert a CD: [Import CD and Eject]
Unfortunately, it doesn't work half the time. When it does work, it works as you might expect. I insert the CD, it spins up, iTunes mentions that it is looking up the track info online, and then it starts importing. When it's done it ejects. Perfect.
However, sometimes I insert the CD and things go differently. It spins up, iTunes acts like it's doing something, but then it stops as if no CD were present. There's no CD listed on my desktop nor on the left panel of iTunes. My only option here is to use the top menu bar Eject -> Eject Superdrive tool, then reinsert. The second insertion of the CD makes it work as listed in the previous paragraph.
At first it seemed to fail every few CDs, but now I have to do the in-out-in thing on every CD. Because this requires MORE attention on my part than doing it the normal, manual way, I have resorted to the old manual way. Insert CD, iTunes shows the CD, and then I say Import. Then I manually eject.
Anyone know why the auto feature isn't working reliably?
    Thanks!
    Michael

Actually the problem seems unrelated to whether I have auto-import turned on or not. The problem appears to be general, and related to CD identification.
I notice when it fails that iTunes has begun doing the CDDB (or whatever it's called now) lookup, but that only flashes briefly and then it goes away as if there were no CD in the drive. I eject, immediately reinsert, and it works the next time.
Now that I'm nearly done re-ripping my collection (450 CDs), I'd estimate that it fails to see/recognize/mount 1 out of every 5 CDs on the first try.

  • My AIM iChat works half the time can this be the issue?

I saw that AIM allows you to use your email as your screen name. My email is through a web hosting site. For example it's like [email protected]
Half the time I open up ichate\, it says I'm online and my status says I'm available with the little green bullet. My buddy collumn has the arrow down, but theres no one under it. It looks almost as if every person is offline. Why is this happening? Can it be my web hosting email screen name thats the problem?
I think I may have ran into this issue even with my old screen name but I can't remember. Any suggestions? It feels like its starting to be the majority of the time it's not working now.
    Thanks

    Hi
Yes AIM does allow you to register any Email address.
It come about from allowing Apple @Mac.com names and later @Me.com names, as well as several other ISPs email names, to be Valid AIM Screen Names.
If you search for it there is a different Registration Screen for this.
If your Buddy List is set up to Show Groups (View menu) and you only have one Group you will only see one grey bar with the Arrow that can be turned On and Off to Display the list or Not.
If you turn Off Show Groups then there is no grey Bar.
The Grey Bar should have the Name of the Group, what is this please ?
I would also use the View Menu to turn On Show Off line Buddies (I am not sure from your description this sis what you are doing)
If you delete a Group then you lose all the Buddies that were in that Group as well.
If the group you do have is "Recent Buddies" this is a Special Group only held on the AIM servers of people you have had contact with that are not in your Buddy List.
In iChat 4 and 5 you can turn Off the Display of this Group in the iChat Preferences > Accounts.
    Next Level.
In iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Security Tab you can set who sees you as On-line.
Check you are not set to Block everyone.
If it is set to Allow Specific People then Buddies need to be in that list (Recent Buddies cannot be in this list)
NOTE:- Some of these settings can be influenced by using the same iChat details in a second (Test) Mac User account and using Parental Controls.
You will only really sort it by taking off the Parental Controls.
Based somewhat on the Note issue a second login can also effect things if it was logged in first.

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"

  • Access + asp + working half the time....

So, I have been going through the forums and books and cant
seem to find an answer to my problem...I have gone through all the
online documentation and bought the book Dreamweaver 8 with ASP,
Coldfusion, and PHP (Jeffery Bardzell) and have finaly got a my
    pages to work.
So...we have a local intranet with a basic form that is just
radio buttons, that then saves to an access database for easy
    look-up later....customer survey....do you like the product (1-5)
    etc...
Very basic, only 4 questions. The site is coded in .asp and
is hooked up to an access database that works perfectly. It saves
the results and I can display them just fine....most of the time.
I can go to the page and fill in the form 1 time, then i
click submit and it says it saved just fine, i check the database
and in fact it did. Then i go to fill in the form again and when i
click submit this time i get a page cannot be found error. I clear
all the cache and cookies...load the page up and most of the time
it will work correctly again....then i try the same steps again to
fill out a new form and i have to do all the steps over again just
to get the form to save.
The same thing happens when i try to view the results....1st
time works great.....2nd time not so well, get page errors, then
have to delete all cache and cookies....then loads up finally.
Why is it so buggy? Would copy and pasting my code for both
pages even be helpful? Im using all the functions inside
Dreamweaver . I just dont know if its an easy fix or if its saving
previous pages and giving me the error. Just really wierd, since in
the book im reading doesnt cover this at all.
I apologize for the long post, but just wanted to give as
    much info as possible.
    Thanks in advance
    - Gary

You'll have this problem again if you continue to use Access.
    As your site
grows, Access can't keep up for long.
Consider using SQL Server 2005 Express (free from Microsoft)
    instead.

  • Flash working half the time

Well, I feel as though I'm at my wits' end. This has been
going on for a few months now, and I'm starting to get aggravated.
I don't have a single problem with embedded flash objects anywhere
(Youtube, Homestar Runner, etc.) but when I want to open a saved
.swf file, I can't. Same when I try to access a solitary swf
    directly from the web (
    http://www.anysite.com/poppycock.swf).
I get the little yellow exclamation point icon in the bottom left
of the status bar in IE7 and double-clicking on it reveals this
gibberish "blah blah Object expected durr hurr hurr" error.
    Screenshot provided below
    http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2618/problemqj5.png
I get this error 100% of the time when I meet the above
criteria and it is always guaranteed to be the same error. The
flash player always used to work fine before, and I never had
problems. I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit with IE7, and this is
the only time I've run across something like this. Sure, I could
open .swf files in Media Player Classic, sure I could open them in
Firefox, sure I could reboot to XP Pro and use it perfectly fine
there, BUT THESE ARE NOT SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM. I've been
through a multitude of pages of forums here and there, I've
uninstalled and reinstalled more times in more different ways than
I care to admit, but nothing helps. I've even been though that
entire 138 post thread about Vista near the top of the topic list
(before you recommend it) to no avail. I come to you kind people
because I'm out of ideas, and I refuse to install Failfox just as a
workaround to one stupid problem. I feel bad enough not being able
to get this to work, but it doesn't help when I can't locate a
single other person in real life or on the internet who's having
    the same problem as me.
Any worthwhile advice you can spare, I'd be grateful.
    Thanks

You can use http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180. if that does not work you have to do repair.

  • DV8T - Sound Works Half the Time - HELP!

    Hello,
I have had my DV8T-1200 for about a week now and this problem has existed the entire time I have owned the computer.
Sound works fine for an hour or so.  Then, it gets into this strange situation.  Sound stops working.  If I look at the windows volume mixer, and it shows that whatever program is playing sound (Chrome, Rhapsody, WMC, WMP, Internet Explorer, etc.) has sound coming out of it (I know this because the volume indicators show the green sound bars bouncing all over), however, under the device sound in the mixer, it shows that no sound is coming out.
However, there is one very strange temporary fix - if I go to the control panel, open up the sound card settings dialog, and go to the "enhancements" tab, and then do the following procedure:  disable enhancements, apply, re-enable enhancements, apply. Then sound starts working again 80% of the time.  However, it only works for ONE more song, then immediately inbetween tracks some glitch happens again, and the sound goes back to not working.  Usually I can do this enhancements-trick as many times as I want, and it will work.  However, sometimes it does not work, and there is a different fix - if I tell the sound card options that a different device is the default, then reset the main sound as the default, sometimes this is the fix..
Here are the diagnostics I have tried:
    I know nothing is muted.
I have tried headphones, problem is there as well.
I have updated the IDT drivers
    I have updated the BIOS
I have went into the IDT HD audio configuration panel, and messed around with ALL the audio enhancements.
I have went into the control panel, to the sound options, and have ensured the the correct device is checked as the default.
I called HP, and they said "well we need to wipe your computer clean, and go back to factory settings.  problem - it didnt' work them either, and the only thing I have installed is Rhapsody, and Microsoft office.  So I just don't think this is a good fix.
PLEASE help!  Is anyone else having these problems?

I also have a dv8t-1200 with windows 7 64 bit for less that a month now.  As soon as I got it, I noticed that sound would work sometimes and not others. Usually when I use other audio sources like iTunes, or www.amazon.com mp3 samplers or the installed Corel Movie Wizard.   I can usually fix it by starting and stopping all the programs, or bringing up the IDT audio control and doing some tests.  It does not always occur the same way or the same time or under the same conditions that I can tell, but happens a lot.  I think if the audio chip were going out, I could not easily play extended audio which is no problem.  It is only when the mixer gets involved.  Like you, the mixer shows the audio is still there, just not coming out of the speakers.
I HAVE noticed it happens ONLY (when I try and use one or both of the dual headphone jacks for external speakers.
I've tried all the fixes you have except wiping the system.  I've also checked the option to let programs take exclusive control of the audio.  Nothing works.
HP, are you listening, you have a problem here.   Please fix it or I will have to return the PC.

  • SWP works half the time with Vista 64, plus two installs

    Hey all,
I understand now that SWP only works fully with vista 32 but I do have it working most of the time with vista 64.(only crashed once) My questions are
    1) For some reason on my uninstall folder it shows SWP twice.
    2) When I tried to uninstall one of them its said I was uninstalling part of windows, so I canceled it.
    3) Since its just for vista 32, will running it on vista 64 cause my computers security to be lower than normaL? I mean can a hacker take advantage of the fact that I'm running SWP on vista 64 even though its only made for vista 32.
    Thanks

Hi Katrina, I am back again.
Got my Vista-64Bit PC 2 days back. It has been a long 2 days. Today I am trying to get iTunes and my iPod setup, but I am not sure where to go from here.
I did download iTunes-for Vista 64Bit and installed. Right away it updated to 8.1. No problems. I then copied my entire collection of songs (the same ones from my OLD PC, and managed by iTunes) from the external drive to the NEW C: Drive and to the exactly same named folder.
Now I don't know how to proceed.
In the NEW Vista environment, I don't find the same folder structure that was in the old XP PC. The new Vista PC has the following four places with any reference to iTunes and iPOD.
    1. Muisc/iTunes - has 4 files (iTunes Library. iTunes Library Extras, iTunes Library Genius, iTunes Music Library) and i folder (iTunes Music)
    2. C/PKM/iTUnes/iTUnes Music -- this is my creation, and this is where I have all muisc files/tracks etc, was and to be managed by iTunes from this location.
    3. C:/Program Files (X86)/ Apple Software - has 4 files and 3 folders
    4. C:/Program Files (X86)/ iTunes -- has 4 folders and 9 files.
    5. C:/Program Files (X86)/ iPod -- has 1 folder (bin) and 1 file.
I do NOT see any files with *.itl type extensions.
I had also exported my Playlists (the file name was music.xml)
Katrina, where do I go from here? -- need to be able to use the librayr from my old PC, all Ratings from my OLD PC, and my playlists form Old PC, and of course the total libary from the old PC.
I do have the complete file structures for the OLD PC where iTunes and Apple had saved files and folders - there were three places in addition to my own creation of the location where I ahd saved all the music files. Please let me know if you would like to see the folder structures.
    Thanks.

  • 2651 only rings half the time on call transfer

I have a 2561 with T1CAS. Incomming calls hit a call handler and are given the option to transfer direct to
an extension. When the transfer occurs, The calling party only hears half of the rings. The called party hears them all.
For example outside caller calls in and hears unity handler. They transfer to extension 1234. 1234 converage is to voicemail after about 22 seconds (4 rings.)
The caller will hear two rings with extended silence between the rings and the called party hears all 4 if they dont answer and let it roll to voicemail.
The behavior is the same if you call a DID number through this circuit and router and have them transfer you to a 4 digit extension, which removes
unity from the mix. If you call the handler or extension from the inside (VOIP) and repeat the transfer you dont get this behavior. So its gotta be
something on the gateway. Dial-peer perhaps? Any ideas?
