Ethernet printers not connecting the same

Currently I have an Airport Extreme in one area and a TB Time Capsule in another location.
Until today I had two mini networks set-up so (mostly Window's users) could log on to either network for stronger signal.
The Airport Extreme base offered all my ethernet printers (I'm a printer with many - well 10).
The Time Capsule offers less than half the options for printer connectivity. Both are set-up the same.
I had a brain storm to make one roaming network using the Airport Extreme as the base thinking that I'd also have the option of all my printers.
I mistakenly selected my T.C. vs. Airport as a base so now have to wait until the crew takes lunch to re-set the network.
Does anyone know why I get different options from two Airport Bases?
Both are about three months old, up to date with 7.3.2 firmware etc.

i have no idea why you would put sit0 in your configuration. arch will identify your connection by eth0. i think you probably did not read the install manual properly.
to fix your rc.conf just make sure your ethernet module is loaded and then change the sit to eth.
if all is set properly you then can restart your network daemon.
I actually have the same problem, and the install manual is not clear at all on it.  I have no idea where that sit0 config came from either, nor what sit0 refers to.
dj,
To find out what module you need, you'll have to google it.  All Linksys and Netgear cards (the most popular) use the "tulip" driver.

  • Can Management Studio connect to a server that is on the same network but not on the same domain?

    Should management studio be able to connect to an instance of an sql server that is on the same network but not on the same domain?  I am trying to have it do so but am unsuccessful, so to continue to troubleshoot what the issue might be I need to know
    whether I am embarking on an exercise in futility.

    Hello,
    That's your issue!
    Since you're attempting to use Windows Authentication you'll need to start the SSMS process under the domain credentials of the domain account that has access to that SQL Server. Otherwise windows is going to send you local user token which is going to quickly
    be rejected as your local computer user account is not the correct domain account.
    You can do this by either using shift+right-click run as different user or from the command line using RunAs /user.
    In either case, if you want to use Windows Authentication you'll need to run the SSMS process as that domain user so that you can pass a valid security token.
    Edit:
    I read that backwards... If it's not on any domain (or member of a workgroup) you'll have a really hard time in using windows authentication as you're limited to LOCAL users on that machine. Thus you could really only use windows auth if you were logged
    in locally on that server. I'd either setup a SQL Login for this or join it to a domain.

    We are on holiday in Mexico. Our iPad2 has no problem connecting to the Internet through our hotel's subscription WiFi network. But, both of our macbookpros can not with the same password. What can we try?
    We can join the network, but can not access the Internet. The password is correct. We have tried network assistant and diagnostics, restarting the laptops, re-joining the network. Our iPhone 4s also works all the time.
    Same location. Signal strength is good.

    Since I couldn't figure out a way to edit our original post, here's another potential clue.
    Our laptops, when in System Preferences>Network, say "WiFi has the self-assigned IP address of XXXXXXXXX and will not be able to connect to the Internet".
    Strangely, my six year old MBP running OS 10.6.8 accessed the Internet straight away, just by opening Safari to my home page. My wife's six month old MBP running OS 10.7.2 could not.

  • Ethernet port not connected - airport working - not able to get online

    Hi, new poster. Never had an issue with our beloved iMac 20 inch Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz - 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. It's old but it serves us, we hope it's not shot. Power goes out a lot here, system has surge protection but no battery backup. System just goes down without being shutdown properly. We used wired Ethernet. No the problem. Last time power just went out, the system would not boot up. I searched around and found out to use the DVD to verify/repair disk. It finally did and system now boots up. However, it says the Ethernet is not connected. It is. I tried three different cables that worked with our laptop and two different routers, all that happens is the light on the router flashed on and off. While on the network status in sys pref displays no cable detected vs. Cable connected but not connected to internet. Assumed the port was shot. OK, turned on the airport. Connects, gets DHCP assigned IP address and/or accepts static IP but when we launch Safari says it can't connect. Tried Opera browser, same thing. Sophos AV also can't connect for updates. All these network configurations had worked previously until this last power outage. Searched for help, as I don't want to waste peoples time. Found out about these things that follow: SMC RESET - PRAM RESET - Delete connection and recreate same - Network Diagnostics - Hardware Diagnostics - Verify & Repair disk ••• Nothing makes it connect to Internet. Network diagnostics gets to end but will not get connected. Hardware diagnostics regular and extended report no issues. We think the logic board is shot given everything we tried and symptoms with system. Can anyone suggest something we did not try of the things we did listed above? Please help us save this thing from the recycling center. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post, wanted to be thorough with what's going on and what we have already tried and done thanks to searching these forums for the last week.

    Yikes, sounds like big problems!
    Have you blown the dust out lately?

  • How to sync with two computers not at the same time, I'm registerd with one computer

    How to sync with two computers (not at the same time), I'm registered with one computer and am trying to connect with second computer with same iPhone. To sync the first time with the second PC "Firefox Sync Option tells me Create New account or Connect, when I connect it gives me a Passcode and on iPhone it also gives me a Passcode, than how do I connect? Both the iPhone and PC gives me a Passcode and have now idea what to do with them.
    Where do I find my Sync Key ? so I can install manually if it works ?

    Use the Sync Key ''(Recovery Key)'' from the PC that you used to initially setup your Firefox Sync service, when setting up that 2nd PC with Sync. You need to use '''Add a device''' to setup the 2nd and subsequent devices on a Sync account. <br />

    How do I control my mac from another mac not in the same network? Thanks

    You can do it manually, but it is much simpler if you use a tool such as Back To My Mac, LogMeIn, or something like that. Those programs enable you to connect to your computer through your router without you having to adjust the router settings manually.

  • "Ethernet Cable Not Connected" Huh?

    I have a dual 10.3 450 G4 that I rarely connect to the internet. I kept getting the wrong date and time so I changed the battery. Now the monitor display keeps resetting to the wrong size and I keep getting the message the "Ethernet Cable not connected even though if I connect the cable to my laptop it works fine. I even tried restarting in OS 9, I repaired permissions still nothing. The system profiler tells me that the the extension is not loading. I can't find where to dump the preferences.

  • HT5312 HI. I have 2 apple ID. I wish to change the rescue adress. On account No1, no problem. But on second account, I cannot see the option. I do not see the same things. Can someone help ???

    Okay; more details. I have account A with Main adress email No1, and as rescue adress email No2.
    Then, I have an account B with Main adress email No3, and as rescue adress email No4.
    I want to change Account A to have email No4 as Main adress, but it does not let me as Adress No4 is already used in account B.
    So; I try to change the rescue adresses.
    When I connect to accoun A, I see all the options explained, and I can change the rescue adress. But when I connect to Account B, I do not see the same options in the "Security and password" section. Therefore; I cannot change the rescue amail. Can someone help ???

    can not connect the iTunes Store, since the last update 2 weeks ago, iOS 6.1.2 has stopped working, help me, please ....

    Ok, I am having literally identical issues with Marathon Max.
    I try to connect, and it says, "Itunes could not connect to the itunes store, Make sure your network connection is active and try again." I have contacted my ISP, and they ran a full check, and sayed I should be able to connect to pretty much all websites. I did the whole "ipconfig" thing and that was no help. I also tried the "msconfig" thing, and it sayed it did not recognize it as any kind of command, internal or external command or operable program or batch file. Whats strange is I can connect from another computer just fine, but when offered to upgrade itunes I declined for fear of the same thing happpening. I am tempted to just upgrade it and thus demonstrate that itunes has a flaw in their upgrade. I will save this computers diagnostics, and the other one's too, before and after the upgrade. I look forward to sending more feedback regarding this matter

    Here are things I tried that did not help:
    1) I turned my iPad off then turned it back on.
    2) I backed up my iPod touch to see what happened, and it went fine.
    3) I tried a different cord to connect the computer to the iPad.
    4) I updated my iPad
    5) I updated my iTunes
    Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

    - on your PC/Mac if you imported them
    - Photostream if you used it
    Unfortunately if the photos are not stored in any of these locations then they have been lost for good.

  • Dual Ethernet will not connect if set to share Single IP address

    The subject says it all. My trusty old Dual Ethernet will not connect if set to share Single IP address.
    I cannot get anything but a self assigned IP address with it set to share a single IP address.
    Before about Tuesday of last week I had connected to it a Mac mini, iMac, Dell Desktop, Dell Laptop, and PS3 all working fine. I think Comcast or Apple updated their system or Airport software and now the old dual Ethernet will not share a single IP address.

    So far as I know, there has been no recent change in Apple's software affecting the Snow (a/k/a Dual Ethernet) base station. About 2-1/2 weeks ago, Apple distributed an update to AirPort software for Intel Macs running Tiger, but it would not have affected the base station.
    Your topic implies that when the Snow is not set to share a single IP address (i.e., presumably, when "Distribute IP addresses" is unchecked in the Network pane of AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow), one of the computers is connecting to the Internet through the base station. I also imagine that the self assigned IP address you mention is the IP address of that computer, rather than of the base station, and that that computer obtains an IP address from Comcast when the Snow is not distributing IP addresses.
    Assuming that that computer is connecting wirelessly, then whatever settings that computer is using for TCP/IP and PPPoE in the AirPort part of System Preferences, while the computer connects to the Internet, should be the ones used for the base station, in the Internet pane of AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow. (Most likely, it is simply "Using DHCP.") The IP address obtained from Comcast should be received by the base station, when it is set to distribute IP addresses in the Network pane, and the IP address should show up in the Internet pane. (When the Snow is distributing IP addresses, it has two IP addresses itself, a WAN IP address obtained from Comcast and a LAN IP address, 10.0.1.1, visible only to devices in your network.)
    Even when the settings are correct, the Snow might not be able to obtain an IP address if your cable modem remembers the computer, which had been receiving the IP address previously. You'll probably need to shut down the computers and unplug power to the base station and cable modem. After waiting 5 minutes, restore power to the modem, then after another 5 minutes, restore power to the base station, then after another 5 minutes, start up a computer.

  • My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

    My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

    Hey there mbarikiwa,
    If your iMac still has not recognized the usb modem, I would use the troubleshooting for Yosemite USB issues in the following article:
    OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
    If the device is connected to a USB hub:
    Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
    If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
    Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
    If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
    Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Verify that the device appears in System Information:
    Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
    In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
    Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
    Check your device’s USB connection
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • OC4J: marshalling does not recreate the same data structure onthe client

    Hi guys,
    I am trying to use OC4J as an EJB container and have come across the following problem, which looks like a bug.
    I have a value object method that returns an instance of ArrayList with references to other value objects of the same class. The value objects have references to other value objects. When this structure is marshalled across the network, we expect it to be recreated as is but that does not happen and instead objects get duplicated.
    Suppose we have 2 value objects: ValueObject1 and ValueObject2. ValueObject1 references ValueObject2 via its private field and the ValueObject2 references ValueObject1. Both value objects are returned by our method in an ArrayList structure. Here is how it will look like (number after @ represents an address in memory):
    Object[0] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@1
    Object[0].getValueObject[0] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@2
    Object[1] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@2
    Object[1].getValueObject[0] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@1
    We would expect to see the same (except exact addresses) after marshalling. Here is what we get instead:
    Object[0] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@1
    Object[0].getValueObject[0] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@2
    Object[1] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@3
    Object[1].getValueObject[0] = com.cramer.test.SomeVO@4
    It can be seen that objects get unnecessarily duplicated – the instance of the ValueObject1 referenced by the ValueObject2 is not the same now as the instance that is referenced by the ArrayList instance.
    This does not only break referential integrity, structure and consistency of the data but dramatically increases the amount of information sent across the network. The problem was discovered when we found that a relatively small but complicated structure that gets serialized into a 142kb file requires about 20Mb of network communication. All this extra info is duplicated object instances.
    I have created a small test case to demonstrate the problem and let you reproduce it.

    The parameters you might be interested in playing with are HARDCODE_SERIALISATION and TEST_SIZE defined at the beginning of RMITestApplication.java. The HARDCODE_SERIALISATION is a flag that specifies whether Java serialisation should be used to pass the data across or we should rely on OC4J marshalling. TEST_SIZE defines the size of the object graph and the ArrayList structure. The bigger this size is the more dramatic effect you get from data duplication.
    The test case outputs the structure both on the server and on the client and prints out the size of the serialised structure. That gives us sufficient comparison, as both structure and its size should be the same on the client and on the server.
    The test case also demonstrates that the problem is specific to OC4J. The standard Java serialisation does not suffer the same flaw. However using the standard serialisation the way I did in the test case code is generally unacceptable as it breaks the transparency benefit and complicates interfaces.
    To run the test case:
    1) Modify provider URL parameter value on line 15 of the RMITestApplication.java for your environment.
    2) Deploy the bean to the server.
    4) Run RMITestApplication on a client PC.
    5) Compare the outputs on the server and on the client.
    I hope someone can reproduce the problem and give their opinion, and possibly point to the solution if there is one at the moment.
    Cheers,
    Alexei

    Hi,
    Eugene, wrong end user recovery.  Alexey is referring to client desktop end user recovery which is entirely different.
    Alexy - As noted in the previous post:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bc67c597-4379-4a8d-a5e0-cd4b26c85d91/dpm-2012-still-requires-put-end-users-into-local-admin-groups-for-the-purpose-of-end-user-data?forum=dataprotectionmanager
    Each recovery point has users permisions tied to it, so it's not possible to retroacively give the users permissions.  Implement the below and going forward all users can restore their own files.
    This is a hands off solution to allow all users that use a machine to be able to restore their own files.
     1) Make these two cmd files and save them in c:\temp
     2) Using windows scheduler – schedule addperms.cmd to run daily – any new users that log onto the machine will automatically be able to restore their own files.
