ETPS/2 Elantech ETF1059 Click-Pad loses synchronization

"psmouse.c: ETF1059 Click-Pad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 5 bytes away."
I have a Samsung RF511 notebook with a Elantech touchpad. Using the default psmouse.ko the touchpad is detected but I have this synchronization issue. My mouse and keyboard are both using the i8042 controller, but the kernel command "i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset" did not fix the issue.
Loading the psmouse kernel using the imps protocol (proto=imps) fix the synchronization issue, but with imps the touchpad is detected as a generic mouse thus I do not have multitouch (I can not live without vertical two fingers scrolling).
I have already read a lot about this issue on the Internet and tried a lot of suggestions, none seemed to work. Is there anything else I should try?

Same notebook and same problem here, but no solution.
Additionally I get these messages on boot every once in a while:
psmouse serio1: elantech: synaptics_send_cmd query 0x01 failed.
psmouse serio1: elantech: failed to query firmware version.
This leads to synclient not recognising my touchpad.

  • My HP pavilion G6 notebook PC the touch pad works however not left and right click pads

    Hi all, new here so go easy with me ) I have a new HP pavilion G6 notebook PC, the touch pad works however not the left and right click buttons? Checked in control panel and can not find a way of enabling them. Also unable to scroll down a file in the window without using the actual scroll down bar on the right of the screen...any solutions please?

    Hi Sy,
    First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53501-54000/sp53851.exe
    Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
    When this has completed, restart the notebook.
    When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
    Now follow the directions under the sub-heading 'Adjust horizontal and vertical scrolling' in the document on the link below to configure the scroll options as you require.
    Configuring The ClickPad.

  • Video imported from camcorder loses synchronization

    I have video shot on a Panasonic DVC-30 several years ago. In the past I was able to import it into FCP 7 without difficulty.  I need to re-import the video for a new project.  I am ble to readily import this footage into FCP X 10.0.4 but there is a progressive loss of synchronization between the video and audio on playback.  The same video footage is easily imported into iMovie 7.1.4 with no synchronization issues.
    What might be the problem and how can I rectify this issue?
    Thanks.
    John

    Steve,
    You have been very helpful so far, thank you.
    Converting the footage worked, although I'm not sure this is the process I will always want to go through.  I had to download a program called WINX HD Video Converter.  I converted from avi to mov and it still didn't work.  I converted from avi to mpeg4 and it worked.  there was no option to convert to m2t.
    Do I need a program like this to convert?  I have the free trial now and don't want to pay until I know it's the right program.
    First, I tried updating the settings I was shooting with but that didn't work.  I shot at Full HD, 1080i and setup my project the same but the footage was still very choppy.
    So... Adobe Premiere does not like avi files?  Should I just get a different camera that is more compatible?
    I also thought I could use this camera to digitize VHS footage but it doesn't accept input, shouldn't a digital video camera be able to accept input as well?

  • When I try to edit I get a Runtime Error. When I click Okay  lose Elements. Any ideas. Should I uninstall/install. Can  I uninstall/ install?

    I have tried System Restore. Does no good. Can I uninstall/re-install?

    This is a Microsoft problem. Contact them for assistance: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295539

    Are you certain about that? There are many alternatives to Office today. Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
    In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). All of these options allow you to open, edit, and save Word-formatted documents and spreadsheets. I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft.

  • Click Pad Settings don't stick

    I'm using an HP Envy 15 Notebook with Windows 10.  Currently using HP Control Zone v 19.0.1.12.95. Since the upgrade to 10, my clickpad settings (Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad > Additional Mouse Options > ClickPad Settings) don't stick after a reboot.  The default 2-finger scrolling seems to be Aussie scrolling, and Pinch Zoom and Rotating default to selected.  If I deselect them and reboot, the settings return to their default.  Is this a Synaptics issue that they need to fix (and that I need to fix each time I reboot until they do), or is there an older driver set I could use? Feel free to move this to the correct board if I chose incorrectly. Thanks!

    Hi I have the exact same problem with HP Pavillion and windows 10. Keep turning the pinch zoom setting off and when I restart it defailts back to on again.

  • I pad loses wifi signal

    My ipad keeps losing wifi connectivity, while my apple computer hold the connection just fine.  I have tried using the rest button, but problem still continues?
    Any
    ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • No right click with evantech touchpad

    I have a Samsung QX410 with a ETPS/2 Elantech ETF1059 Click-Pad touchpad (as reported in Xorg.0.log). I'm getting this to work using the psmouse-evantech driver in the AUR, which allows me to use the standard synaptics tools to configure the touchpad. For the most part, this works. However, the touchpad has two major issues that I can't seem to find a way around.
    This touchpad has the two mouse buttons built into the actual surface of the touchpad, apparently like how macbooks are now.  So, the touchable surface of the touchpad extends over the buttons, which makes it impossible to click on the left mouse button and drag to select text with another finger - the touchpad thinks it is a two-finger scroll touch and doesn't do anything. I tried moving the AreaBottomEdge property in synaptics so as not to include the bottom area with the buttons, but that didn't solve it. This makes it effectively impossible for me to turn off tap to click (which I hate), and still be able to use the trackpad.
    Second thing is that I can't get a right-click at all from the trackpad. Clicking on the right mouse button area of the trackpad seems to send a left click mouse event. Right now I'm emuating right-clicks with two-finger tap, whcih is also very annoying. I can't find a synaptics setting to make physical right-clicks work.

    Hey there, I think this is an issue across multiple distros and not specific to Arch. I migrated over to Arch in the past month or so from Ubuntu. I experienced the exact same right-click issue that you did. Here's a related bug in Ubuntu that others mention similar issues https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/681904

  • Elantech clickpad not handled by synaptics

    My Acer s7 has an Elantech clickpad that was, at one point, using synaptics, and edge scroll and such worked properly. It stopped doing that a day after, for no apparent reason (no upgrades or configuration changes). Attempted reinstalling xf86-input-synaptics, no effect.
    Currently some features work, apparently handled by evdev, but most advanced ones don't. The psmouse-elantech appears to make no difference in how the device is detected (i.e. a generic evdev pointer).
    It's been a long time since I had to play around with Xorg configuration. As far as I can tell, the synaptics.conf entries should match the device, since they have a fairly generic match on any /dev/input/event*, which includes this device.
    Relevant dmesg. There's a touchscreen as well, which also sorta works, but that I don't really care about.

    So I guess synaptics is no longer able to handle it properly? How could that have changed without changing the synaptics/kernel versions?

    Nope:
    property 'Synaptics ClickPad' doesn't exist, you need to specify its type and format
    property 'Synaptics Soft Button Areas' doesn't exist, you need to specify its type and format
    Do those need the synaptics driver loaded? Nothing is even triggering Xorg to load it at the moment, since nothing has the IsTouchpad property (set by udev, I think?).
    Also, should the device be detected as an ETPS/2 device, rather than PS/2? I changed the script to reflect the latter, but I'm not sure if that's important.

  • Synaptics Touchpad, double finger scroll and tap-to-click

    I've recently lost tap-to-click functionality on my synaptics touchpad, I have no idea why because I haven't changed anything recently.
    Here's my related xorg.conf file:
    Section "InputDevice"

    I have the same problem, my workaround is setting the options with synclient executed automatically on login.
    Im quite annoyed though that gnome just overrides settings done in xorg and hal policies, can anyone tell where to look for gnomes information storage?

  • Elantech touchpad synaptics config -Samsung 7 series etc.

    Finally with the 3.2 kernel released the touchpad on my Samsung 7 series 700z5a is recognized as a synaptics capable device.
    Xinput reports it as ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad. I'm really happy about this! There is though some problems with the default configuration of synaptics, I have been playing around with them for a bit now and would like to share my findings. And I hope that other want to play around with the settings and share them as well.
    Currently I have set these settings, all of them necessary for the touchpad to work at all.
    FingerLow: 15  //This sets at which pressure it should no longer be recognized as a movement. Default was 25, at least for me.
    FingerHigh: 20 //This sets at which pressure t should be counted as a movement. Default was 30.
    TapButton1: 1 //Sets which button event should be triggered when tapping the pad with one finger.
    These are settings are not fine-tuned, but at least the pad works.
    The settings can be set on-the-fly by using synclient, i.e. to set FingerLow to 15:
    $ synclient FingerLow=15
    Execute synclient without parameters to see a list of current configuration and with -m <interval in ms> to see what the touhpad registers.

  • Elantech-Y410P-Synaptics+elantech-tp-dkms-Random ClickFinger

    I recently got a Lenovo IdeaPad Y410P and have it set up to dual-boot with Windows 8. (On Windows, the Elantech driver, while horrible to configure, works.)
    I'm using xf86-input-synaptics and elantech-tp-dkms. I'm configured with the default 50-synaptics.conf and a 60-touchpad.conf containing the following:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "touchpad"
    Driver "synaptics"
    MatchIsTouchpad "on"
    Option "CoastingSpeed" "0"
    Option "ClickFinger1" "1"
    Option "ClickFinger3" "2"
    Option "ClickFinger2" "3"
    Option "TapButton1" "0"
    Option "TapButton3" "0"
    Option "TapButton2" "0"
    Option "SoftButtonAreas" "0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0"
    Option "SecondarySoftButtonAreas" "0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0"
    EndSection
    When I click with more than one finger, I get a random press (button 1, 2, or 3) biased somewhat towards its configuration. The evtest output looks perfectly normal and the trackpad shows up as "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad" in xinput list, as it should. It seems that globally, TapButton2 & TapButton3 and ClickFinger2 & ClickFinger3 are swapped (which makes no sense to me looking at evtest and the proper fingers being registered). When tapping on the default config only, it works perfectly (except for the swapping). I've tried with and without elantech-tp-dkms, but all that happens is that 3 finger detection breaks. I also tried xf86-input-mtrack, but nothing seemed to change.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Synaptics Image Pad Being Unresponsive

    I’m having trouble with my image pad for my HP Envy 1430-TU Spectre Notebook. Every other day the image pad loses responsiveness from being unable to use “gestures” to scroll and zoom yet still being able to move the cursor and select things, to not working at all. When it stops working completely  I can’t even turn off or on the image pad by tapping the button that does this. Tried re-installing Synaptics PS/2 Port Clickpad driver, but problem was not solved.

    Here are some older solutions to touchpad problems. Maybe something will click:

  • Help configuring Elantech touchpad

    Hi,
    I've an Elantech touchpad identified as this:
    $lshal
    udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pnp_ETD0001'
    info.linux.driver = 'i8042 aux' (string)
    info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer' (string)
    info.product = 'PnP Device (ETD0001)' (string)
    info.subsystem = 'pnp' (string)
    info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pnp_ETD0001' (string)
    linux.hotplug_type = 2 (0x2) (int)
    linux.subsystem = 'pnp' (string)
    linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/devices/pnp0/00:05' (string)
    pnp.id = 'ETD0001' (string)
    It works but I cant figure out how to configure it.
    I used the hal fdi config file as described in the wiki, but after hal restart (and also after reboot) the settings are not taken into account.
    BTW the kcontrol touchpad settings management is not configurable (buttons are grey and no way to tick or click)
    If someone has the same device and know about configuring it, please tell!!
    Here ise the method I used :
    $ sudo cp /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/11-x11-synaptics.fdi /etc/hal/fdi/policy/
    $ sudo nano /etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi

    Well, it doesn't work anymore. Running the commands which determine the value of XINPUTNUM and TPSTATUS works just perfect, which leads me to think that getXconsole is broken...
    EDIT
    getXconsole() {
    console=`fgconsole`;
    displaynum=`ps t tty$console | sed -n -re 's,.*/X .*:([0-9]+).*,\1,p'`
    if [ x"$displaynum" != x"" ]; then

    was the culprit. " tty$console" should be " tty $console".

  • Touchpad click for using trackpoint in ubuntu

    hello, i have problem with pointer
    i use thinkpad e440 and as you know, there is no additional click button for trackpoint.
    instead, clicking top-right side of touchpad act as right click, top-middle side of touchpad act as scroll.
    but in ubuntu, whole area of touchpad clicking work as left click.
    also, in windows 7, while using trackpoint, touching trackpad doesn't move pointer
    but ubuntu doesnt support that.
    i tried disabling touchpad but clicking doesnt work at all
    i'm sorry about my poor english writing, i hope you guys can understand this and give some help
