  • Discoverer 3.1.42 User Edition Bug? EUL Corruption?

We have applied the 3.1.42 patchset but are experiencing some serious buggy behaviour.
The worst problem appears in User Edition if a Parameter is used in a Calculation and there are also Totals on one or more columns. When first created, this situation may work for a while, but further manipulations usually cause the query to crash with a message like: "Internal EUL error: EULParseNodeType error in canonical formula" (apologies: I don't have the exact message in front of me here). Once that error occurs, it seems to always occur in that Worksheet when a Calculation involves a Parameter AND there is a Total declared.
Is this a known bug? Has anyone else run across this? Does the Worksheet get corrupted in the EUL?
This one problem (oh, there are several others) is causing some significant grief.
    Help is appreciated.
    null

I haven't seen what you are mentioning yet. However, if you create a calculation or parameter in 3.142 and one of your users still has 3.141, the user will get an error message: Invalid combination of filters or calculations, query cannot be resolved. Upgrading to 3.142 corrects this for the user.

  • OWB Corrupts Discoverer EUL

    HI,
I want to put some attention to an issue I encountered using OWB 9.2. The issue occurs when defining a dimension without any levels. If one exports that dimension through the discoverer bridge and imports it in the EUL, the EUL is corrupted. To see it one needs to do a second import, it will generate an error (cyclic hierarchy, eul not changed). The mentioned dimension is NOT visible in discoverer, however it will need either reinstalling the EUL (thus losing all metadata entered and/or changed) or hacking into the EUL to remove the hierarchy which has no levels.
IMO this is a serious problem which needs to be addressed ASAP, however raising an iTAR only resulted in a product enhancement request (IMO way to low for such a problem).
The referenced iTAR ( 3507810.999 ) and product enhancement request ( bug: 3237872) are available for viewing (with proper authorisation).
How to put it "High" on the list of development?
    Greetings,
    Wilco

    Let me explain,
A developper designed the dimension and forgot to add levels.
OWB validated the dimension as OK (This shoul already result in invalid dimension IMO).
We assigned the dimension to a collection, and exported a complete collection through the discoverer bridge. (6 Dimensions an 3 Facts).
    Export went successfully.
During Import we got your error also, so we exported again. The then resulting eex imported successfully into OWB.
The dimension we did not use right away, is was part of the 2nd increment of development, but created allready for future need.
When we modified the ETL, because of a missing field, we reexported through the discoverer bridge.
The file we got then we loaded with the following option in Discoverer : refresh the object, preserve display related properties. This reulted in the import not beeing able to finish due to "cyclic hierarchy error", the EUL was not changed. importing the new field was impossible.
We did not want to create the extra field by hand, due to the fact that Discoverer and OWB use uid's, which would get out of sync, resulting in a almost unmaintainable EUL (we have experienced it allready).
If of use, following TAR/bug's are related (from Discoverer and OWB side)
    Discoverer
    iTAR 3398979.996
    BUG none
    OWB
    iTAR 3507810.999
    BUG 3237872
On the side of Discoverer they recognize it as a bug, but also treat it as enhancement, while at the side that realy causes the problems it is treated as a "would be nice to have" feature (in my interpretation)
I am even encouraged to start a discussion on this issue to upgrade the bug. In my opinion it is a bug, and not even a small one. I believe that a product should never be corrupting metadata or functionality of another product.
If one buy's a car, and after your wife has driven it and made a little scratch on the paint (and only teh paint), I believe nobody would accept it if from that moment on, noone would be able to normally drive the car because it is impossible to drive that car around a corner. If one goes to the garage, they will respond with: eeeh, OK we will mention this to the factory, so they can add it as an option. In the mean time buy a new car, and do not make any scratches to the paint.
(You will have to admit the analogy here)
    Greetings,
    Wilco

  • Creating a NEW Oracle APPS EUL , How to get Oracle BI Objects in new brand

    Hi there
We upgraded Oracle Discoverer 4i to Discoverer 10g and during the upgrade process DBA upgrade the EUL5 in the same schema.
    Now That schema is corrupt.
I have to create a new Brand EUL for Oracle APPS Business Intelligence Views 11.5.10.2.
    What steps I can follow.
    1)     DROP the existing schema at Database.
    2)     Using Discoverer Admin login through SYSTEM Account
    3)     Create the APPS EUL
    4)     Now What to do to get the Business Intelligence APPS Views in my new APPS EUL?
Is there any process I need to run to get Business Intelligence Views.
    Thanks
    JOJI

    JOJI,
It is a "non-destructive" upgrade/migration. This is why you have the EUL4 and EUL5 objects in the schema. This allows you to migrate your users in a controlled fashion if desired as it keeps the Discoverer 4i EUL intact.
What Jose, is describing is that you can drop the EUL5 objects (via the 10g Administrator -drop the EUL or manually) and then perform the upgrade again.
If you do decide to create a new 10g (eul5) EUL, then the following MetaLink Note describes how to import the Business Intelligence Business Areas and Generate the Business Views.
Note 316463.1     Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i
    I hope that helps,
    Regards,
    Steve.

Try downloading the stand alone installer here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
In Safari Preferences, General tab, set "Save downloaded files to: select destop, if it is not in thed rop down select other, then selcet Desktop from the left sidebar. After the download completes click on the installer package on your desktop and follow the prompts.
Also if possible use an ethernet conection as it is less prone to interference, thus less prone to corruption, and usually faster.
    Hope this helps

  • ITunes Corrupted Library/Crash Exception:  EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (0x0002)

iTunes gave an error of the effect "corrupted library", and said it created a backup/modified version.
OK, all songs still listed and everything seemed OK.
The next time I started up iTunes (version 7.3.2) it gave a
    Exception: EXCBADINSTRUCTION (0x0002)
failure. Now it ALWAYS fails on startup in this manner.
    (full crashdump at bottom)
    I've renamed ~/Music/iTunes and ~/Library/iTunes, and deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes*.plist
    I've manually reinstalled installed 7.3.2.
I've applied the version update to 7.4, which tossed up the new EULA properly and then immeditely started crashing.
Are there ANY other iTunes data files that I should try removing? Any other suggestions? I'd be perfectly willing to nuke my entire music collection (I have a backup dir) if it would restore iTunes, as I need it to calendar sync to my iPod.
    Other suggestions?

Drag the iTunes Library and iTunes XML files out of the iTunes folder and relaunch iTunes. If it launches correct then, try the Add To Library command, select your iTunes Music folder, and see if it will successfully add the tracks and then function correctly. If it still fails to launch, try logging into Mac OS X as another user (create one for testing if necessary) and see if iTunes will launch successfully there; that will tell us if it's a problem with iTunes or Mac OS X overall or a problem with your normal user.
    Hope this helps.

  • I Got This message The End user is corrupt

    Hello world ,
some user i can access to Discoverer but with one user i cannot ,
    i got this message
The End user is corrupt -to connect to this EUL you must drop it and restore it from backup.
    Thanks

Wow, talk about user error! ha!
    A few questions.
What version of Discoverer are you on?
Do all users referenced connect to the same EUL?
Has anyone done any manual editing of the EUL tables?

  • All PostScript fonts corrupt after InDesign Packaging

One of my design partners who is using ID CS4 on Snow Leopard packages files she works on for me and gives them to me. EVERY time, all PostScript fonts are packages as zero bytes. OpenType or TrueType fonts will come through fine.
This has been on ongoing problem and a huge headache. The issue is not religated to sending files to me. Printers and other collaborator receive these packaged fonts in the same corrupt condition.
I have seen other mention this here before, but never have I seen anyone resolve this issue. I may have even posted about it last year. Is there anyone who has any insight about this problem?
I have attached an image showing the font directory of the most recent package for reference. You can see the PS fonts aren't even recognized as fonts, while the OT are.

If you're connected to a server trying to package a InDesign file. You might make sure you're connect via: smb,,,, and not afp, I've seen that do some funky things to fonts.
That is a really good idea.
Also, you could use TransType Pro to try and convert or format the font differently.
That idea is as bad as your last one was good.
I wonder how H&FJ feel about Gotham being "converted" to another format. Hey, why don't you contact them and ask 'em if your EULA permits conversion to other font formats?
So, one more tidbit. If the fonts are zipped straight, using OSX's zip feature and then emailed. they are also fried. So, that one fact, seems to pioint to the OS's handling of PostScript fonts either as an OS or the zip feature or some specific setting on my colleague's computer.
You must mean "if the fonts are zipped ... straight AFTER packaging ... they are also fried." You mean that, right?
Try having your colleague just package, and then look in the Fonts folder BEFORE you do anything - before zipping, moving to flash drive, et cetera. If they are zero K at that point, then go look at the fonts out in the OS, from wherever they're being collected. If your colleague has only one copy of the Gotham set on the HD and, post package, the packaged fonts are zero K, then you've pretty much proved that InDesign is frying the fonts. At that point, you're looking at solutions like resetting preferences, reinstalling, stuff like that.
I still think that it's more likely that something else is going on. E.g. one set of fully functional T1s in Applications/InDesign/Fonts, another set of fried 0K fonts in /Library/Fonts, InDesign is rendering the doc using the real fonts in /InDesign/Fonts but grabbing the 0K fried fonts out of /Library/Fonts for packaging.
    Yeah it's farfetched, I know.

  • EUL import error

Hi i was trying to upgrade my EUL from 5.0 to 5.1
i logged into Discoverer 10.1.2 and created a EUL . i have imported a prvious version(9.0.4) EUL into this EUL .
but after some time it will throw me an error , i am unableto find this error in metalink .
    Experts please help me
the error is "*The import has failed (your End User Layer has not been modified) - the element type ” is not modified* "
    Thanks
    Kanna

    Hi Kanna
This has come up in this forum many times and I'd suggest doing a search to see what advice was given before and what worked.
Almost, certainly you have got some corruption in your 9i EUL that 9i doesn't care about, probably because it is in an area which is not being used by any workbook. When you import into 10g it checks all of the cross references. Most of the advice you will see revolves around exporting | importing parts of the EUL to see if you can track down the offending object so that you can either fix it or delete it from 9i before exporting again.
This can be a long process and I wish you well.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • List view in iCal on my iPod touch is corrupted

The 'list view' seems to be all wonky in Calendar on my iPod touch.
The dates for a given day that's displayed don't make sense:
i.e. Sunday Oct. 27 2030 followed by Saturday July 14 2001 followed by Tuesday Jan. 16 2001 are listed in consecutive order instead of today, tomorrow and next day (with correct dates).
Also, the 'events' given for each day listed don't make sense and are often duplicated.
The 'day' and 'month' views however, seem to be ok and not corrupted. The 'list' field in the month view also seems fine ?
Has anybody experienced this ? Very frustrating, since I like the list view.
I make most of my entries/changes to iCal on our main desktop (iMac 24") then sync. to my iPod. The list view seems ok on the desktop.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
ps. not sure if the problem corresponded with an upgrade of the Ipod software to OS 3.1 from 2.x....

  • Download error in (osx) adobe desktop app (corrupted download link).

Here is a discription of the problem. Please consider that some of the wording might not be correct, as I do have to translate the error message from German into English.
Using OSX 10.9.2, when clicking inside the adobe desktop app (top of the screen bar) on the tap "apps", the following screen (screenshot) appears, which states, translated from top to bottom:
    download error
    download error. Please contact support.
    (link) contact support
(link/button) download creative cloud -> This button unfortunatly leads to the following error page "http://www.adobe.com/special/errorpages/404.html"
All apps, like Bridge, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. are installed and work just fine. So no problem here. I seem however unable to redownload the desktop app (in order to reinstall). As stated above the provided link inside the desktop app itself is coruppted and within the (online) web-based download centre (user logged in) I am only adviced to use the desktop app. This is a dead end and I do not know what to make of this error, let alone solving it. Please help!

I am sorry Romsinha but this doesn't really help.
I already restarted the desktop app and while I am obviously online and connected the problem (error message) remains the same. Information within the "home" tap is recieved/loaded  (little blue spinning wheel) stating that various apps recently have been updated. Yet the same loading wheel within the "apps" tap results in an error. My best guess is that some internal link within the app is corrupted, leading to a source on a server that can not be reached.
    UPDATE
I clean uninstalled adobe creative cloud as discribed in the article you provided (using the cleaner tool) and even uninstalled the browser plugin. After downloading and reinstalling creative cloud the problem however remains the same. "Apps" tap still shows the same problem. "Home" tap now displays the following:

  • Questions on Logical corruption

    Hello all,
My DB version is 10g+ - 11.2.0.3 on various different OS.  We are in process of deploying RMAN on our system and i am having a hard time on testing/get a grip around the whole logical corruption... from what i understand(please correct me if i am wrong)
    1. I can have a check logical syntax in my backup cmd(and that will check both physical and logical corruption)...But how much overhead dose it have, Seems to be anywhere from 14-20% overhead on backup time.
    2. Leaving the maxCorrupt to default(which i beleive is 0)...if there is a physical corruption my backup will break and i should get an email/alert saying backup broke...
    3.  Would this be same for logical corruption too ??, would RMAN report logical corrution right away like physical corruption would do?  Or do i have to query v$database_block_corruption after backup is done to figure out if i have logical corruption
    4. how would one test logical corruption ?? (besides the NO_LOGGING operation, as our DB have force logging turned on)
    5. Is it a good practice to have check logical corruption in your daily backup? ( i guess i have no problems for it if DB are small, but some of our DB are close to 50TB+ and i think the check logical is going to increase the backup time significantly)
    6. If RMAN cannot repair logical corruption, then why would i want to do the check logical (besides knowing i have a problem and the end user have to fix it by reload the data...assuming its a table not index that is corrupt)..
    7. any best practices when it comes for checking logical corruption for DB in 50+ TB
I have actually searched on here and on google, but i could not find any way to reproducing logical corrpution(maybe there is none), but i wanted to ask the community about it....
Thank you in advance for your time.

    General info:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/focus-areas/availability/maa-datacorruption-bestpractices-396464.pdf
You might want to google "fractured block" for information about it without RMAN.  You can simulate that by writing a C program to flip some bits, although technically that would be physical corruption.  Also see Dealing with Oracle Database Block Corruption in 11g | The Oracle Instructor
One way to simulate is to use nologging operations and then try to recover (this is why force logging is used, so google corruption force logging).  Here's an example: Block corruption after RMAN restore and recovery !!! | Practical Oracl Hey, no simulate, that's for realz!
Somewhere in the recovery docs it explains... aw, I lost my train of thought, you might get better answers with shorter questions, or one question per thread, for this kind of fora.  Oh yeah, somewhere in the docs it explains that RMAN doesn't report the error right away, because later in the recovery stream it may decide the block is newly formatted and there wasn't really a problem.
This really is dependent on how much data is changing and how.  If you do many nologging operations or run complicated standby, you can run into this more.  There's a trade-off between verifying everything and backup windows, site requirements control everything.  That said, I've found only paranoid DBA's check enough, IT managers often say "that will never happen."  Actually, even paranoid DBA's don't check enough, the vagaries of manual labor and flaky equipment can overshadow anything.

  • You click on a .pdf file; Firefox won't load and says "not a pdf or corrupted," but all other browsers open it normally

Clicking on a link to a .pdf file in Firefox results in Firefox displaying the box "Format error: not a .pdf or corrupted"
This has happened for several years with any number of web pages. A link to the latest event is below, but it typically happens almost every time I click on a link to a .pdf

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.
If that doesn't work, consider asking in the Microsoft Office: Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac forums
PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.
