Euro and Poundsterling symbol problem even with WE8ISO8859P15

We are using the Primavera Enterprise (project management software) run on Oracle 8.1.7.0.0, the euro and pounds symbol is not displayed correctly (# and Â¤ instead).
Our configuration is :
AIX 4.3.3.0
NLS_LANG= WE8ISO8859P1 (configured in .profile for oracle user account)
Originally the database was created with the NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1, as we discovered that this nls does not support euro, what we have done then :
- export it (.dmp WE8ISO8859P1)
- create a new database instance with WE8ISO8859P15 (hosted in the above AIX server)
- import the .dmp above to a new created database
- the log file generated saying that :
1. import done using WE8ISO8859P1 and WE8ISO8859P15
2. the server characterset is WE8ISO8859P15, character conversion possible
3. imported from export file with the WE8ISO8859P1
- we queried the database with 'select * from sys.props$ whre name like 'NLS%'; and we are sure that the database nls_characterset is WE8ISO8859P15
- we then update the euro and symbol from Primavera application
- we close the Primavera application and try to reopen it
- the euro and pounds symbol are back to as before (ie. # and Â¤)
Note : as the above server is a production server, we can not modify the NLS_LANG of the machine to WE8ISO8859P15

Barry & all, sorry to mention the client/server architecture with Primavera Enterprise.
The primavera application is installed in windows 2000/xp
- we tried several NLS in windows regedit of Oracle home e.g. NLS_LANG=FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8MSWIN1252 and NLS_LANG=FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P15)
- once we imported the database, we updated the euro and symbol from Primavera application, the symbol euro is displayed correctly in the application
- we close the Primavera application and try to reopen it
- the euro and pounds symbol are back to as before (ie. # and ¤)
- the same thing when we query the database directly, it shows the same signs (ie. # and ¤)

So in Disk Utility, with the external harddrive selected, go to the Partition tab, and then under "Partition Layout:" select 1 Partition.
After than, verify that it is formatting the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled) under "Partition Information"
Also verify that it's using using the GUID Partition Map under the Options button at the lower left of this window.
Then click apply and confirm that you want to format the drive. It will ask you if you're sure, and probably for an Administrator password.
Once your harddrive is formatted properly, you should be able to use Time Machine, or any other Mac backup software.

Address Book Opens Automatically and will not close (even with Force Quit)

The address book automatically opens at times and I cannot close it. Even with a force quit, I cannot close it. It takes up over 80% of CPU cycles when it opens automatically. Any thoughts or suggestions?

This is happening to me too. Has occurred on MBP 17" about six or seven times over the past couple of weeks. Have not been able to replicate it. But recently suspect that it may be related to auto syncing and/or syncing my iPhone 3G.
Anyone else have an idea?

Since upgrading to 3.6.3, I have 3 problems: frequent crashes, frequent "unresponsive script" messages, and frequent pop-ups, even with pop-up blocker turned on.

Crashes are pretty random - can't link them to any particular site or action. The unresponsive script messages mostly come from e-mail sites (yahoo, gmail). Pop-ups are frequent and annoying, and may be causing some of the crashes.

I have the same problem and it's really frustating - although my main browser is Google Chrome, I use Firefox for all the RSS feeds that I subscribe to and sites that only have Firefox plug-ins. Will Mozilla FIrefox get this fixed with a newer version soon?

Clicks and Pops in Audio even with High Buffer Values

I'm running into a problem with my Mac Pro 2008 for which I need urgent help.
I have a Mac Pro 2008 which I use to do some audio production and mixing.
I use 10.8 Mountain Lion for some time now, mainly with Avid Pro Tools 10 and Logic Pro 9.
My audio interfaces of choice are the Echo Audio Audiofire 8 and an Eleven Rack (USB) which I never use simultaneously. For tracking guitars and bass I use the Eleven Rack but for mixing and adding other instruments I use the Echo Audio because of its multichannel capabilities.
I had this configuration for many months / years without any kind of problem and being able to use very low buffer values (128, 64 and even 32 bits) with very low latency values (ideal for tracking guitar with software monitoring).
Now I'm running with problems with audio clicks and pops in all audio streams independently of the audio interface I use.
I've tried every tip I found on the web for optimizing my mac for audio with no success.
Independently of the buffer I establish in Pro Tools or Logic (or any other audio software, for that matters) I always get the same harsh, distorted audio, with permanent clicks and pops. It's the same with pre-recorded audio or when using just an armed track with software monitoring. Even when using just Amplitube 3 in standalone mode, I can't get audio working correctly. Raising the audio buffer to 4096 (!!!) or lowering to 64 is the same. The output get garbled, distorted, harsh, with permanent clicks and pops (on the Audiofire or the Eleven Rack).
I've already tried reinstalling drivers, mangled with all audio preferences possible with no success.
I'm considering, as a final option, to reinstall the OS and all audio software from scratch but this is the very final possibility because of the long long hours needed to do so.
Does anyone have some idea about this?

Luis, the sound you're describing does not sound like a clock problem.
Sync set to "Internal"
To check you can go to Settings/Synchronization uncheck "Auto Enable external sync".
I'm guessing like most Mac users you have the operating system set to auto update, if so the system may have updated on it's own so you can't be sure you're running the same system that worked perfectly in the past.
I disable every "auto" b.s. Apple/OSX tries to force on users... for pro audio users, it generally causes problems.
Here's some things to try.
1. Set the Mac's audio preferences to use only built-in audio for both recording and playback. Do so in both System preferences/sound and Audio-MIDI Setup. Turn off the Mac, unplug and audio interface you have hooked up. Restart the Mac, Plug in an audio interfaces (doesn't matter which one) open Logic, go to Preferences Audio and select the installed interface, even if it's selected already, set buffer to 256.
Any difference?
2. Create a New User account and try running Logic from there.

I keep getting blurred fonts in v19 and v20 beta, problem started with v19.0.2 upgrade

First noticed this on Google news items. Text would blur when I moused over a story. Since this started about two weeks ago I now have seen it happen in pull down menus on Amazon and Ebay as well. Those are the only three sites. This is happening on a desktop with i7 first gen and win7 running.
Selecting the blurred text temporarily fixes the blurring problem. Also, turning on the snipping tool to capture the image fixes it so I had to use print screen to get a screen capture of this effect.

Here is the screen shot of the blurred text on Google news. Note that the first two news stories have clear text as I did not mouse over them. The other stories have blurry text.
I updated to v20 beta and instead of fixing the problem the text may be even blurrier now. I posted this image in response to another forum question regarding blurred fonts in b17n but the solutions offered seemed to contradict one another and I do not know if they apply to these newer versions as some folks claimed the problem had been fixed in newer releases.

Cannot resolve symbol error even with class imported

I'm trying to print out a java.version system property but keep getting a
cannot resolve symbol error

I've looked at the API and getProperty() is a method of lang.System
Can anyone throw any light?

No network boot-- lot of problem even with generation 2

Hi All,
I have hyperv 2012 hypervisor and i have created some vms on it. I need one of my win7 vm to boot over network. It is created with generation 1. As generation 1 has some problem to boot vms over network, i thought of creating a generation 2 vm. I have downloaded
valid win8 evaluation edition iso from microsoft site. That iso is working fine for me, but when I use the same iso for my vm, it stucks at 22%. i tried almost 40-50 times. Everytime it stucks at 22% only. I am also sure that I have put it in generation 2.
I also thought to create a vm with generation 1 and convert it to generation 2 (OS is win 8). But unfortunately, when i use generation 1, vm stops at 10%. getting files ready for installation (10%). In none of the generations, with none of my ISO files, it
crossed 23%. Am I missing something? Please guide.

Base on my experience, your issue typically caused by the disk space have not enough free space, please select which partition have the enough disk space.

IPad bluescreen problem even with iOS 8.0.2

My iPad goes to bluescreen for a second and restarts. This happens randomly twice or thrice a day since my iOS 8 updation even it continues in 8.0.2. I Guess this is due to death bug !! So kindly fix it up at next update release atleast.

I have the same thing happening with my ipad air... I can't even get it to turn on anymore. It flashes to the blue screen, then crashes off completely. Then it restarts itself with the apple screen, then crashes, apple screen crash... it's terrible. Everything was fine and dandy until the iOS 8 update though. I just hope that they get a new update out soon!!!!

Why does my MacBook Pro still have disk problems even with replacement disks?

I have a 2008-era MacBook Pro. In January it failed to boot. I took it to Apple and paid for a replacement system board. When it came back they told me the hard drive was also bad and they had replaced it.
About a month later my performance became very bad. A test of the hard disk revealed unrecoverable errors. I reformatted the disk and restored from Time Machine. About a month later, the same problem surfaced. This time I took it back to Apple and they put in a replacement hard drive.
Now here I am about a month after that and the hard drive has asked to be reformatted twice again.
What is REALLY wrong and how do I get it fixed?

How does the disk test which checks the drive have to do with corrupted data?
Let me clarify:
1. System gets slow.
2. I run the Disk Utility > Verify disk.
3. It reports data corruption errors and and says to run Disk Utility > Repair Disk
4. I run Disk Utility > Repair Disk
5. It says errors are such I need to run it from the Utilty partition
6. I restart from the Utility partition and run Repair Disk
7. It reports it can't fix the problem. Tells me to erase the disk and restore.
8. I do all that.
9. Now I run Verify Disk again. All is well, and all continues to be ok for several weeks.
So, if the Time Machine backup was corrupt, step 9 above would fail.
Since this is the third hard disk since January, I doubt that the problem is REALLY the disk.

I use a wifi antenna adapter to receive internet on my boat. I was using mozilla 3.6 and having no problems. With 5 it makes it difficult. I want to go back to 3.6 but where?

With 3.6 I could easily go into the program to change the internet source I was connected to. With 5, it won't allow me to open the program that I use to do that. I tried to find the download for 3.6 to change back and cannot find it. I called the manufacturer and he said it (the program) doesn't work well with 5 so use internet explorer or download and install 3.6 again.

So I have a Iphone 5, I use both my official chargers and third party chargers. Recently ALL chargers stopped working, both official and third party. Even with official chargers I get "this acccesory is not suppported".

For some reason the only way I can charge my phone is by plugggin directly into my mac mini. It will charge with both non offiical and official cords. What is going on?

I cant print from my IPhone 4 now that I updated to cable Internet Arris router. I was using a lynksys and had no problem previously with AirPrint and my HP D110 printer. Please help!

How can I get my phone to print again? I recently changed to Comcast Internet from AT&T. Now my HP d110 is not recognized. AirPrint can no longer recognize my printer.

Some Arris routers do not support Multicast, or Bonjour, the service that AirPrint uses. Verify both devices are still attached to your wireless network and Bluetooth is off on your iPhone. You may also want to power your printer and router off, then power the router on fully, then the printer.
If you need any assistance with the above steps or verify that the router does or does not support the necessary service, please advise.
