Evaluation of XI implementation

Hi XI experts,
We have a requirement to receive EDIFACT format file from customer for Sales Order Creation.
Though there is only one message, IT head would like to build an integration system for future.
The translation from EDIFACT to IDoc in XI is quite simple, correct?
Actually from my point, I only need a converter that can convert EDIFACT to IDoc.
Then I can run standard report or write code for IDoc inbound processing.
If creation confirmation is needed, we can use standard EDI output, then translation from IDoc to EDIFACT is needed.
Is that a waste of resource to use XI in our company?
Any good suggestion for me?
Btw, could you please provide an estimated cost for XI implementation including hardware, software, installation, maintenance etc.
Thanks.
Legend.

Hi Legend,
How many EDI integrations required with SAP?, if the number of integrations very few then you can think about implementing integration without PI.
If you want use converted, then you have to invest money on that too.. What I would recommend you is write some JAVA modules to convert EDIFCAT messages in to desire out put, this can be done with some efforts(JAVA Experts can help you) then place these files in FTP, then process it, In this case you are avoiding middleware.
If your integrations more then consider about going for PI or any other middleware, but Standard SAP XI will not support conversion of EDIFACT messages in to IDoc, you have to use Conversion agent or See burger adapter, it involves more cost.
PI licensing cost depending how much data flow happened between SAP to NON-SAP and Non SAP u2013Non SAP . SAP-SAP integration free as per my knowledge.
If you want to know licensing cost and hardware better to contact SAP they will help you.

  • Evaluation of SOAP implementations

    Hi,
I'm currently evaluating SOAP to implement a web-services-type application to front a existing system. The server is certainly Java-based, but the client can be anything. I'm a complete newbie with SOAP, so please bear with the idiotic-type questions.
    1. Are there still interoperability issues with SOAP implementations between Sun/Apache and Microsoft? I've read several articles on this, but they are dated at least 1-2 years ago. Any glaring issues currently?
    2. The AppServer is currently on Java1.4.0. Any known issues?
    3. I've tried using the jwsdp to implement a simple (and raw) SOAP service. Anyone with a recommendation whether jwsdp will suffice or would Apache Axis be a better candidate? What does Axis provides that jwsdp doesn't if i already have a http-based MVC framework that I have to re-use?
    4. A more general question: Must I deploy a WSDL for my SOAP serivces?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Try to roll back the time of the computer to a few days back until you are able to perform an edition upgrade.
    Hope this helps.

  • Calling Webservice from Netweaver Portal to SAP XMII 12.0 using SSO

    Hello,
we have a Netweaver 2004s based Portal and a Netweaver-based SAP XMII (v12.0) System providing Webservices.
What we try to do is to call a webservice out of the Portal EAR Application using SSO.
SSO-Konfiguration between Portal and XMII is done and works fine. I tested this using an URL-iView, which calls a https-URL on XMII and SSO-Authentification is done in the background.
Now I want to call a Webservice using SSO.
Without SSO (prodiving UID/PW), the webservice-call works fine.
In order to use SSO with Webservice, I created a "Deployable Webservice Proxy" with "HTTP-Authentication" and "use SAP Logon Ticket" turned on.
Then I remove Login/Password from my SOAP-Request and unfortunately it doesn't work.
What do I have to consider in addition to the topics above?
Can you provide any useful links with tutorials, hints, documentation, ...?
    Thanks in advance

If you search the forum here for the terms you have used, then you will find many of them and interesting discussions about advantages and disadvantages from different views. I think that in 1 or 2 hours you will be a guru
    > I am thinking more of using Kerberos authentication for SAP GUI and using OpenSSO (Sun's product)solution for EP 7.0.

    > Do you know what SSO technologies are other companies implementing these days?
I only know which solutions I have been involved in doing the security evaluations for and implementation support.
I don't want to do any direct or indirect comparative advertizing here, but only wanted to point out to you that there is plenty of information if you use the search. What you need to understand is that other that SAP proprietary mechanisms and newer standards based initiatives (search for 'SAML'), this is often a 3rd party vendor question (and resulting discussion...).
If you find a solution and want to specifically discuss it here, then this can most of the time be done in a civilized way...

  • Biller Direct and Partial Payments

We are evaluating whether to implement Biller Direct.
Currently we process our receivables only using residual items --- no partial payments. We would like to continue that process, but we have heard that Biller Direct "requires" that you only use partial payments. Is this information correct?
Can anyone provide me with reference to documents / OSS notes that confirm whether Biller Direct will work / will not work with Partial Payments?

  • SRM on One client with ERP

    Hi,
My Client is currently using SAP ECC MM for Procure to Payment process. We are currently evaluating option for implementing  SRM 7.0 for web base procurement solution. As per the information available in www.service.sap.com, there is a software called  u2018SAP SRM on one client with SAP ERPu2019 available at this moment. I have following doubts regarding SRM on one client system:
    1. As I mention, currently we are using SAP ECC. Does the u2018SRM one client softwareu2019 component will install on the top of our
existing ECC system in the same server if we will implement SRM one client system ?
    2. Normal SRM 7.0 connect to ECC through RFC connection. As SRM and ECC are on the same client. Does it mean we don't
required RFC connection for SRM one client system?
    3. In one client SRM system,  SRM can be install on the top of existing ECC system.  Does it mean,  additional hardware
components like server, network etc are not are not required for SRM one client system ? We can use the existing ECC server
        and network for SRM.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regds,
    Jennifer

    Hi Jeniifer,
I tried providing information to your queries below in bold. Hope it is of any help to you.
    1. As I mention, currently we are using SAP ECC. Does the u2018SRM one client softwareu2019 component will install on the top of our
existing ECC system in the same server if we will implement SRM one client system ? - *Yes. SRM will get installed in the same server.*
    2. Normal SRM 7.0 connect to ECC through RFC connection. As SRM and ECC are on the same client. Does it mean we don't
required RFC connection for SRM one client system? - RFC connection will still be required but since it's same client, the connectivity and data transfer will be very fast and quick.
    3. In one client SRM system, SRM can be install on the top of existing ECC system. Does it mean, additional hardware
components like server, network etc are not are not required for SRM one client system ? We can use the existing ECC server
and network for SRM. - Yes you can use existing ECC server.
This SRM one client software will be very useful in case of a small industry or business, which does not have huge data or processing. But in case your organisation is bigger, then this will not be very useful.
To find out possibility of usage of SRM one client software, I would suggest you to get in touch with SAP sales team and they will arrange for a meet to discuss it further.

  • WLI task assignment in parallel work flow

I have been working with the WLI for a proof of concept leveraging the task assignment
features. Following the worklist tutorial I was trying to assign a task usining
a parallel process. The server indicated it was unable to assign the tasks in
parallel b/c one of the parallel branches claims the task and does not allow for
the assignment to the other branch.
Is there a way to do this? Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Rami,
if you use process controlled workflow available in SRM7, you can easily implement the scenario. Using process schema evaluation, you can implement two different schema for department 1 and department 2 based on differement department.
Thus you can achieve two different workflow - if the requestor is from department 1, one step workflow (only manager)will be triggered. If the requestor is from department 2, two step workflow (first manager of the department and then buyer of department 1)will be triggered .
    I hope, it helps you.

  • Question about BAPI Performance

I am currently evaluating options to implement interface between legacy systems and SAP. We have a requirement to post goodsmovement from external application. As some of my team claim that the BAPI approach can cause performance problems. I would like to cross check whether the claim is true.
And if it is, May I have your advice how can we prevent such problem about performance?
Ho w can I get additional source of information?
    Kindly advise.
The BAPI which we are going to use is BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE
    Thank you

    No performance problem is there.
Infact BAPI is advisable against BDC. Also since BAPI is like FM there is no issue.
I am using it in lot of the objects we have created.

  • ISA on CRM 5.0 vs 4.0

    Everyone,
Our company is currently evaluating whether to implement CRM Internet Sales (ISA) on our current platform (CRM 4.0) or to hold off and wait for CRM 5.0 to be released (for us to implement it probably 1+ years).  After reviewing the documentation, so far I've noticed 2 primary differences between the two versions.
    1)  The IPC is integrated in CRM 5.0, potentially reducing the overall compexity and headache of managing it separately.
    2)  ISA has new re-written template files for better user experience, etc...
Are there any other key differences anyone is aware of, and is there a compelling case to go in either direction?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
My experience using ISA CRM 4.0, yes IPC you need to consider, especially when you deal with complex Pricing and Configurable products (the performance is
significantly effected). New CRM 5.0 has start to comply
with SAP Netweaver, but yet no clear statement this can
improve web shop performance (if this is what you
    consider).
I don't know which documentation you are referring to.
But documentation I got, mention queit sistematic on what's new in CRM 5.0 for each web shop functionality such as Catalog management, use of multi plants in Product configuration, enhance in web-monitoring, interactive pricing when using product configuration, schedule line in order status, support of free goods item, Delegated Ordering etc...
Hope this can give u more information.
    Cheers,
    Gun.

  • Oracle Flashback Vs IBM FlashCopy

    Hi,
I am evaluating options to implement Oracle Flashback and/or IBM FlashCopy as a backup and recovery solution.
Does any one know of a good source for comparing and contrasting these two technologies.
What I am looking for, in particular, is how each compares against other (pros and cons) in terms of
    1. Storage - I know flashback storage requirement based on the feature I would want to use could be more than that required for FlashCopy
    2. Recovery time - My initial assessment is that recovery with Flashback is faster than that with FlashCopy
    3. Backup - Both flashback and FlashCopy can be used to run backup against them (instead of primary DB site)
    4. Site failure - From my reading, I take it that Flashback will not protect DB against site failure while FlashCopy would.
The features below, from my reading, are not available in FlashCopy but are integral part of 10gR2
    5. Flashback Database
    6. Flashback table
    7. Flashback Query
    8. Flashback Version Query
    9. Flashback Transaction Query
    10. Flashback Drop
My question(s): Are any of the features (5 - 10) available with IBM FlashCopy? If so how easy/difficult it would be to flash back tables/queries/transactions using FlashCopy.
For site failure, Oracle Data Guard (physical) standby DB is what I am planning to propose.
    Any thoughts/ideas/opinions are highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Marko, I can give you the short version...
IBM designed DataLinks to be a single point of access to content stored on multiple servers. Like many IBM products, DataLinks is (1) predicated on the idea that leaving content where it is now is the right approach, and (2) giving you a toolkit is preferable to a finished product. There isn't anything like the Oracle 9iFS out of the box file server capabilities, and a lot of their content management features are missing or incomplete. As someone at Oracle, of course, I'm also more than a bit skeptical about leaving content where it is an then providing a bunch of pointers (with some additional metadata) to this content. Consolidation is the better approach, if you're looking for economies of scale and greater manageability.
Microsoft's Sharepoint Server is a hybrid "collaborative portal" product. It has features that look like Oracle Portal as well as a very basic collaboration environment with things like versioning and discussion groups. SharePoint also leaves content in the file system, but in this case, it does its best to obfuscate where it is, giving you instead a WebDAV and HTTP interface to it and then using Access and flat files to store all the metadata in it. This doesn't seem like a formula for scalability (and, in fact, Microsoft is pretty circumspect when it talks about scalability in the SharePoint documentation), and there isn't a development environment that lets you customize SharePoint or use it to host applications.
    Is that helpful?

  • Is a DSN (ODBC-derived) accessible from the Eclipse Java SDK?

  • Calculate number of days between two festival dates in payroll schema

    Hi Experts,
    According to my company policy:
If an empl termination happens before Eid festival of the current year, then the pro-rated Eid bonus (yearly) is based on:
(The duration between Eid Festival date of previous year - Eid festival date of current year.)/350 days
Time Evaluation is not implemented in the system. Only payroll is implemented.
My question: How can I capture the number of days between (Eid Festival date of previous year - Eid festival date of current year) in the payroll schema ?
    Regards,
    Somdeb.

    Hi,
You can try using date specification. If you update last year eed holiday date for the employee then you can use the operand F along with NUM to get days between last eed holiday and current payroll period last day.
    i.e NUM=FaaT 0
F is operand to query date specification.
    aa is the date specification.
T is for unit and it gives number of days
next space is for current payroll period last day and 0 will reset alternate date to zero if no date specification is mentioned.
Basically this will give number of days from date mentioned in date type aa to current period last day. For more info you can go through documentation on operand F for NUM.
Let us know if this helps.

    Poorvi.

  • How to reorder user XDC file with respect to IP XDC?

    Hi All,
How do i  set a user XDC files to be processed affter all other xdc files(specially those *_clocks.xdc from IP)?Figure attached show the snapshot of my project from the command "report_compile_order -constraints".
i would like to have the tri_mode_ethernet_mac_0_user_phytiming.xdc to be processed last among the rest. This reason is for me to overwrite the xdc constraints values provided with the MAC IP core.
i have the set the processing order of this xdc file to the late and also tried the "reorder_files" command, but nothing seems work.
    advanced thanks for your help.

    Hi ,
I achived my goal of having the IP XDC files that i want to processed before the user_phytiming.xdc. This done by having the PROCESSING_ORDER of IP XDC files set normal.
just for sharring, all this while i been focusing on manipulating the  PROCESSING_ORDER user_phytiming.xdc instead of the IP XDC files.
The log of "report_compile_order -constraints" is shown below.
Now, tri_mode_ethernet_mac_0_user_phytiming.xdc is processed after the tri_mode_ethernet_mac_0_clocks.xdc(IP XDC) which enable me to overwire the IP constraints to suit my system.

  • Oracle's JMS

I am currently evaluating several JMS implementations, and since we're looking at Oracle for another part of our application I thought I'd check out yours. I'm assuming I'm doing something terribly wrong though since a simple queue-based sending and recieving of 200 messsages takes up to 10 seconds on all other implementations and nearly four minutes on Oracle. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.

This is kind of up to Tibco...
When you add properties to the resource-provider element, you are just adding entries to a Map which gets passed to the initial context factory, which in this case is implemented by Tibco (TibjmsInitialContextFactory), so you may want to check their docs.
It's possible they only use that for username/password for JNDI access purposes and not for JMS. If so, you can explicitly set username/password for outbound connections in the oc4j-ra.xml file, and using ResUser/ResPassword in the MDB's activation-spec to set username/password for inbound connections.
