Even after restoring my iPod, it gives me an error.

I have an 80gig iPod Classic and I dropped it from a fairly low distance with a case on, it's barely scathed and yet it gave me a red "X" and told me to restore my iPod. I plugged it into my computer(Windows XP) to restore it and after I do so, it gives me the message "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I have restored many times and it gives me the same error. I've also reinstalled my iTunes, updated, and everything, and gives me the same error. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am getting the same problem as malericky. I have not dropped my iPod or anything but today I tried to delete off some old stuff and add new stuff:
Attempt 1: iTunes froze when trying to delete the files off the iPod, had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to close it.
Attempt 2: Restarted iTunes, was able to delete the files, then when trying to copy new files on I got that "cannot sync this iPod, blah blah file not found". iPod froze, had to unplug it and manually reset it (holding down the center button and menu buttons) to get it to come alive again.
Attempt 3: Restored the factory settings of my iPod, restore function told me that it could not connect to the Apple server and so would I like to restore using the current software on the iPod? So I click yes, waited for it all the come back on and everything, attempted to sync my video files to the iPod and got this fabulous error: "Some files that have been purchased from the Apple Store have not been copied because you are not authorised to play them on this iPod" - I can tell you I was REAL happy about that (NOT!) because they had been ON that iPod up until a few minutes before when I restored it back to the factory settings! At the same time I got another error saying "These files have not been copied because they are not the correct format to play on this iPod", again, AMAZING because these exact same files had just been on the iPod ten mintues previous. After these errors, my iPod looked like it was going to start syncing, but after several minutes I got the same "Cannot sync this iPod - blah blah file missing" error and had to go through the whole restarting and resetting thing again.
Attempt 4: Restored the iPod to factory settings again (still would not connect to the Apple server), tried coping my video files on manually (selecting them and drag-drop to the iPod) instead of syncing, got a few more files on that way before I got the same old "missing file" error again.
What is going on! This is really frustrating because not only can I not load stuff onto my iPod because of this error, but it appears that all of my purchases from the Apple Store are no longer going to go onto my iPod! PLEASE HELP!

plz i need help....my ipod touch still freezing even after restoring it...plz send me email to [email protected]

If you did not restore to factory defaults/new iPod do that. If yuo are still having problem then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You likely have a hardware problem.

One thing you can try is to reset (reboot) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart in a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
If the Apple logo never appears, you may have a broken button.  If your iPad is less than a year old and still in warranty. Apple should repair or replace it.  If it is convenient, show it to an Apple Store Genius.  Otherwise, look for a nearby Authorized Apple Repair Center.

  • After restoring my ipod, nothing shows up when I sync it back up.

After restoring my ipod, nothing shows up when I sync it back up - why?

Have you double checked to make sure content is still configured to sync to your iPod via its Music, Podcasts,Photos, etc., configuration tabs in iTunes?
To access these tabs, plug your iPod in and select it from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes. Over to the right should be multiple tabs for the different kinds of content you can sync to the Nano. See this article for more information and assistance.
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Make sure that you also don't have the Manually manage music option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab if you want your iPod to sync with iTunes instead manually adding and removing content from the device.

When I try to restore my iPod touch 4G I get error 3194 and I have the latest version of iTunes

Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.
Are you trying to restore to a PC or an Mac?  Either way, I'd remove iTunes, empty the trash, restart, and download/install the latest version.  Also, check the versions of OS that the latest build of iTunes will work with.

  • I can't restore my ipad it gives me an error and I just can't get around it.

Every time I try to restore my ipad 2it gives me an error code or says, ipad software update server could not be contacted at this time. I have and ipad 2 wifi on 6.1.2 and I just want to restore to the same firmware but I can't figure out how to bypass these issues.

Your should be able to close it from the system tray on bottom right of your screen.
You can also turn it off by launching the antivirus.

  • Ipod is not recognized by my new mac, even after restoring..

I recently transferred my itunes library from my old ibook to my new imac using my ipod. The transfer worked (mostly), but all my ipod's memory was used up, even after I had deleted all the transferred files. I was unable to transfer new music onto the ipod, since there was no memory. I then restored and updated the ipod. My current music library was transferred onto the ipod once I reloaded it on my desktop. But then I couldn't access the music on the ipod. (All the songs appear grey). I can't manually update either.

Hello, I am quite new to iPod and very new to this site. Hope I am not threadjacking, but seem to have a similar problem. I am not offering any advice, just asking for help.
My son loaded about 400 songs from his computer in OR onto the 20 GB iPod and they play fine on the iPod. I added more songs from my CDs to the iTunes library on my computer in NY, transferred them manually by dragging their names to the iPod icon on the screen. I could see the progress bar go on each. When I open the iPod icon I can play those more recent songs through the computer, just as I can play the original songs through the computer, but the newer set of songs do not show up on the physical iPod after it is unplugged. I plug it in with a USB cable and disconnect it correctly (I think)
Actually, one of the songs did transfer to the physical iPod, but none of the others.
I did set the preferences for manual transfer.
Can anyone give me some troubleshooting ideas? Looking at this chat list I realize loading and managing an iPod is a lot less foolproof than I had hoped it would be.
    Thanks, Steve

  • Major issues with iPod even after restore

I have a 120 GB iPod Classic and it was working well but I transferred some videos and some of the files got really messed up on it. First the languages got corrupted and most Asian characters wouldn't show up. I plugged it in and then ejected it after looking through my songs and that fixed the problem.
Then I found out a bunch of the videos on the iPod were not opening for a while, then when they did, it only showed a really messed up screen, and the iPod was causing the computer to freeze whenever I did anything in iTunes. I deletes those videos, and it froze the computer, and after a long time I took it out and those files did actually end up deleted. I tried to transfer a few files, and it took hours (maybe 3 hours of podcasts) and then when it was done, I ejected safely, and lo and behold, all my files are totally corrupt. I did a Restore, and then it seemed to fix most problems, and I tried transferring music to it. After about 200 songs, the transferring began to freeze for minutes at a time, and finally completely stop moving and freeze iTunes. It keeps alternating between the "Connected - Eject before disconnecting" image and a "Synchronizing" image. I tried to Restore again, and then transferring more stuff, it happened again. Sometimes the computer tells me to scan and fix errors with the external device.
After a few more tries of restoring, it keeps freezing after a certain point. It holds up my entire computer when it does it, and the iPod sometimes makes clicking noises when transferring. Loading up certain videos is extremely slow, and the thumbnail it's showing for my videos is an extremely staticy screen. I think the hard drive is corrupted, but wouldn't restoring the iPod fix that? I don't want to do anything else to it right now, since it'll still play some music alright, but there's massive issues with it that I can't fix, and most of my music is now gone. It seems to be taking tons of time of clicking and not doing anything to transfer even the smallest file, and sometimes it just freezes entirely. It seems like it's a specific part of the HD that's actually experiencing physical damage, but I don't know.
Can anyone help? I've tried everything I can do, but I feel like the more I try to fix the worse it's going to be. My warranty lasts until November 30, and I'm wondering if I can just get a replacement.

    Just an update:
I connected my iPod again today, and this time I tried transferring just 1 file to "check if it would be better." The 1 song still took maybe 15 minutes to transfer and froze iTunes for a while, and then when I tried to eject it it kept telling me the files were in use by another program. Well I tried to Restore it, since obviously something was screwed up. Same error. Everything became frozen when I tried to click for my iPod's information in the side bar. Then I manually unplugged it and plugged it back in, Windows tells me to scan and fix errors on the drive, I didn't because that causes explorer.exe to freeze up, and then I restored the iPod again. Right now there's only 3 playlists on there, and I think that's well below the danger zone, but I don't know what's wrong with it or what to do about it right now.
