I have updated Firefox in Mac os 10.6.8. severa times now. But in desktop and dock the icon still leads to old version, 3.6.24. Only if I select Firefox from programs-folder, the newest version appears. How can make the shortcuts use the updated version?

Stuck at "Finding Purchased Items" even after update and reboot

I have been unable to sync my iPad for several weeks. Itunes gets to "Find Purchased Items" then hangs. I've left it running overnight, but still nothing. I updated the software to the latest version (the one that allows sharing) and still nothing. Rebooted and still nothing. I know iTunes is completely frozen because I can't even return to it in Explorer (i'm using the Windows version).
What can I do to be able to start syncing my iPad again? It seems like ITunes is really becoming an Achilles Heel for Apple products.
Any help is much appreciated since I've bought several new apps and can't install ANY of them.

I was having the same problem on the iPad 1. I am on the latest iOS (5.1.1) and the latest Lion (10.7.4) and latest iTunes 10.6.1 (7).
Tried to sync for the first time in months. whenever it gets to 3 of 7 "finding purchases," iTunes completely hangs and I have to force quit.
I deleted iBooks on the iPad and then right clicked on the iPad in iTunes and did a BACKUP (option is set to backup to iCloud btw).
Once this was complete it sat on "WAITING TO APPLY CHANGES", for almost an hour.. eventually i was impatient, and tried an option change, and hit apply and it got past the screen and fixed it all.
Once all this was done, it was backing up/synching etc. very quickly.
Hope that helps anyone else who got stuck more recently than the thread origin!

If you do not have, or remember, the passcode for Restrictions, the only option available to you is to reset the device to factory settings via itunes.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

I can confirm the problem you are hitting. The XML test trace does not get recognized at all, and it defaults to Eclipse's basic Open File behaviour. I am not sure if it's because the format definition is missing, or if it's because something prevents the trace type from being recognized. I will open a bug about it.

My 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard won't boot even after erasing and re-installing Snow Leopard. I erased and re-installed by putting the iMac in Target Disk mode and usin my MacBookPro as the host. But after numerous attempts I still can't get it to boot either from the HD or DVD drive. I just get the white screen after the wheel stops spinning. I can't get it to run Hardware Test - just get the white screen. If I use Disk Utility via my MBP it says the disk appears OK. All the Snow Leopad files appear to have been installed. What can I do?

Perhaps you installed the wrong version OS X onto the iMac, you can't use the disk from another Mac.
clean the disk.
If it's not working then use this method to create a bootable 10.6 USB from the iMac machine specific 10.6 disk or the 10.6.3 retail disk on your other Mac, use it to boot the iMac with.

Sometimes it is fruitless to try to "fix" a broken account on an iOS device. I would delete the account on both devices and then configure the account again from scratch.

I have updated to IOS7 on my Ipad and Iphone. I've noticed now that when i get a notice that an app needs an update, I tap the "install" button and after the update is finished the "install" icon changes to "open". Problem is that even if i tap the "open" icon, the app opens has it should. But when I return to the "app store" icon under updates the app I just open still appears on the list and still has the "open" icon visable. Use to be once you updated an app it would dissapear from the update list. I know have a list of 7 apps all updated and showing the "open" icon on my Iphone 5 and 13 on my Ipad. I've tried shutting down my device and restarting, yet they still show up on the list. Is it just me, have I missed a setting or something? I've had the same issues since iOS 7 was released last week. Sometimes my iPad' App Store icon's badge shows I have 3 updates. When I enter the App Store to update them, there are no updates shown. When I back out of the App Store, they are no longer shown on the iPad's App Store icon. When I again enter the App Store, only 2 updates show up. It's all very inconsistent. make sure the outgoing (smtp server) has the updated password also. settings>mail,contact,calendars>then at account>it will say outgoing, smtp or advanced. after clicking on the smtp it will have an option to change that password, delete it and add ur new one

This seems to be a problem with all Lumia 900s at this time...
I visited an AT&T and Microsoft Store and inquired about this problem. Every Nokia Lumia 900 on display and even the store employees own phones exibited the "works when it feels like it" camera button problem. The store employees had no explanation for it.
Through my own fiddling with it I found the only way to get the camera button to work every time is to press the power button first to wake up the phone, then press the camera button. It is a pretty easy work-around.
I also found that if you press the camera button slow enough to feel both clicks, or press the camera button twice quickly that can work too, but not all the time...
As far as I know Nokia has not acklowledged this problem yet but I hope they will soon and that a software update will correct it.

Sounds like the iMovie you have there is a PPC app which is no longer supported in Lion or Mountain Lion. If that is the case you will need to purchase a new version of the app.

Make sure iTunes on the computer is logged into the account on the phone.
Plug the iPhone in.
In the popup window warning about wiping your phone, hit cancel.
In the left pane of iTunes, the phone icon should be there.
Right click on it, select transfer purchases.
Note: this will only transfer music bought from iTunes. Not mp3's from amazon or ripped from CD's.
